Turmoil brewing between Marrone and Whaley?
thewildrabbit replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I almost wonder if Whaley is questioning Marrone about his final decision at RG. Two holding penalties and a grade of -4.2. Now that the Buc's passed on Incognito for Mankins I gotta wonder if that RG situation is really settled. Perhaps its just me, as I'm not content with the current starters at OG. -

Whats funny is the Bears were OWNED by the Seahawks so badly It made the Bills- Buc's first half look like nothing. Cutler looked worse the EJ, their first half went 34-0. -

Change is coming, and it will be sooner rather than later if this team starts the year with lots of losing again. -
Bills Release Thad Lewis

I would have kept Lewis over Tuel also, and perhaps waited for the final cuts to see if Ponder or Mallett are released. -

I agree, I still don't see what these coaches see in Jeff Tuel. Maybe in 3-4 years he might make a good backup QB. -

Whaley probably wants accountability as to why his first string offense looked worse this year at home then it did last year on the road. -

That play calling in the first half was seriously the exact same ineffective crap we saw last year by Hackett. To his credit he did manage to run a few off tackle plays that were somewhat successful, aside from his constant up the middle runs that went nowhere. The object of the OC is to think up a game plan with plays that will actually work. -

Not only that, heated confrontation can be good in that it gets everything out in the open. These guys want to win, and win now. I'm down with that philosophy! Do whatever it takes to win. -
Why are so many so down on Tuel?
thewildrabbit replied to Mr. T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why Jeff Tuel is still even on the team is a mystery to me! I see lesser version of Fitz who doesn't possess a top NFL arm, and can't read defenses or make the line calls like Fitz could. A guy who won only 4 of 26 games in college, and was constantly injured. His 61.4 completion percentage more then likely came in garbage time after the game was already lost. If EJ Manuel was projected to be a developmental QB that might be ready in a year or two. Then where does that leave a kid who wasn't even invited to the combine, and went undrafted? I have nothing against the kid but the Bills needed more then a PS guy as backup. I suspect the bromance with Tuel & Lewis will be the undoing of this coaching staff, and perhaps even the GM. -
After the firing of team president Tom Donahoe in 2005 the team then started a full downward spiral with no real FO football man as GM- president. Wilson took over his role as president again, and hired ex HC Marv Levy as GM. Then after Marv stepped down in 2007 the team virtually had no upper management control or accountability. Ralph Wilson was quietly behind the scenes becoming another Al Davis - Jerry Jones, as an owner who has his hands on everything. Wilson made the statement the team lacked talent, and yet didn't know what to do to correct it. You guys can blame Tom Donahoe, Tom Modrak, Marv Levy, Buddy Nix, and the real blame goes to an owner who should have stayed in retirement after he fired Donahoe, and simply hired a new president. Hopefully new ownership will change the losing culture of this franchise.

After 100 Votes it Is Yes for Incognito
thewildrabbit replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he agrees to counseling, and to keep a low profile, stay off twitter. Then yeah, he graded slightly better then Andy Levitre and would be a huge improvement over any of the OG's on the current roster. -
I don't mind the signing as EJ could use some veteran advice. Ryan Mallett, Christian Ponder, and others will probably be available after the last cutdown.

Its just to damn bad he didn't think that way in 2010, or 2011. Instead Gailey / Nix put all their winning hopes on a perennial backup QB with a losing record in Fitz. Then he finally drafts a QB in one of the weakest QB drafts in years. Now, Doug Whaley is all in on EJ. So if he continues to stink who gets the blame? Who do the Bills draft in 2015 with only a second round pick?

Good point and most of the fans knew there was a distinct problem going forward at LG. Ya know what, there still is a problem at LG with Chris Williams. Plus the RG position with Pears. I don't care if Moron loves the guy at RG, Pears falls on his face when the team plays good teams. What freaking good is a part time player. This thinking is completely absurd as Whaley made some excellent moves to beef up the defense, and almost looks at building the line as an afterthought. The OG position is particular important in terms on run blocking, and interior protection. Watch how Pears at RG plays against the Jets Sheldon Richardson this year. I don't think anyone here stated they thought EJ played well in the first half, and most said he had a lousy half. Its a team sport, and the entire team stunk it up. If they continue to stink that badly against starters...then more changes will be coming.

The Bills' method of losing is unsustainable

a serious of unfortunate events for 14 years equals a losing culture. Hopefully all this changes with new ownership -
Bucs Bringing Incognito in for a Visit

He grades slightly better the Levitre. But the Bills would prefer Pears, who falls on his face against the good teams. -
How Can Anyone Turn This Team Around?
thewildrabbit replied to Storm Front's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not just Cowher Marty S badly wanted the job in 2010, and RW said no. Lovie Smith wanted the job in 2013, and Russ said no. The Browns almost traded the 49ers for Harbough, and the Niners almost went with it. Their GM doesn't get along with Harbough, and he could be gone after this year. Hiring a guy for HC who was fired at his job by another NFL team after being an OC wasn't a good idea. Hiring a college coach after a mediocre 8-8 record doesn't appear to be a good idea. Nick Saban might be another one now There are a bunch of NFL coordinators looking to make an upward move, at least 5. Cowher managed to make the playoffs with some total scrubs at QB. Cowher is amazing! Was it his fault that the FO didn't know who to draft all those year until they finally found big ben? -

To all the fans clamoring for Ryan Mallett http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/08/25/one-way-or-the-other-ryan-mallett-could-be-done-in-new-england/ -
Hopefully new ownership won't let that happen.

Jim Kelly Displeased With QBs including EJ
thewildrabbit replied to The Voice of Truth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Needless to say the entire team played poorly in that first half, and the coaching calls were also very limited. -
and to add to that, to have no real veteran QB on the roster once the season began. Plus, no QB coach with three rookie QB's On another note, to the folks to continue to bash EJ, and think it was all him. Let me re-post this. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/08/24/refo-buccaneers-bills-preseason-week-3/ "Erik Pears, RG, -4.2 Breakdown: The return of Cordy Glenn (-1.2) saw a re-shuffle on the right side that didn’t go well for either Erik Pears or Seantrel Henderson (-2.4). This was a baptism of fire for Pears who struggled with the destructive pairing of McCoy and McDonald. Both as a run blocker (-2.3) and pass protector (-1.5) Pears struggled, surrendering stops, pressures and a hold in each phase of the game." Plus, two holding calls on Pears, two on Glenn, Wood had one, Richardson had one. The only player to NOT have a penalty was the new guy in Henderson Anyone care to hazard a guess as to which player got the PFF MVP for the game? "PFF Game Ball Not quite the +8.6 grade of a week ago but Gerald McCoy was once again too hot to handle for an AFC East offensive line. Through three preseason games, McCoy now has a frankly absurd +16.5 overall grade on 67 snaps." Its a team game guys, no QB plays well with a bad team around him.

We don't have the coaches tape, and we don't know if his receivers were open or not. All I can assume is EJ lost some confidence in his TE when he threw to a spot, only to watch the receiver trip over his own feet, and see the ball intercepted. Then Woods slipping probably didn't help things. I can only think that EJ would tend to be more careful with the ball going forward, and wanting to make sure of completions. Mike Williams showed up. Chris Hogan showed up. During the half the receivers might have changed cleats because I didn't notice anymore slipping. But yea, EJ is still learning his professional occupation. As the late great Bill Walsh used to say, it usually take 3-4 years for a QB to fully develop. I'd have to think it takes longer then that for QB's playing on bad teams. I wouldn't be defending EJ at all if four of the five starting linemen graded in the green, and not in the red like they did. Both EJ and the line need to play better, and then Hackett needs to call plays that have a chance of working, run and pass.

Bills 2nd worst team to play for---player poll
thewildrabbit replied to Tyrod's Tailor's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This could change when new ownership takes over, as winning cures everything. -
I'm upset they didn't keep macky mac...well, not really. Dennis Dixon didn't even get a long look. Tuel, Lewis are the keepers...
