  1. 3rd down, what will the Bills do on 3rd and 8?
  2. man, gonna be a long game. Players slipping, and that won't get fixed until half time
  3. Nate Hackett and his hurry up and punt offense still working this year
  4. "if" (lord forbid) something happens to EJ in this game, I'd hope they start Freddy at QB because at least he knows the offense. If not, then I'd say Orton will look worse then Jordan Palmer. Pulling EJ for Orton would be a suicide move by the coaching staff, as like I just stated he can't be anywhere near ready. Lastly, I doubt Marrone would pull him at all considering he didn't want to sign Orton in the first place. I don't know where you guys get this stuff, as EJ needs to play to learn his job, no matter how horrific a performance.
  5. Another one Perry Tuttle went on to play 3 years for Buffalo, and just never realized his potential Matt Kofler played 4 years in the NFL Eugene Marve played 11 years in the NFL, 6 with Buffalo, 4 with Tampa, and one with SD. The guy was a good player until an injury... Williams played 4 years in the NFL Gary Anderson is the one that gets me as I think he purposely played as bad as he could in preseason for Buffalo, got cut and went on to play 23 years in the NFL. The thing is as soon as he became a free agent the Steelers cut their PKer, and signed Anderson.
  6. Actually, you couldn't be more wrong about a draft. LB Kevin Thomas played 3 years for Buffalo OG Mike Pucillo played 2 years for Buffalo, one year for Cleveland, and 2 years for Washington, 5 years in the NFL S Coy Wire played a few years for the Bills and Falcons, 6 years with Buffalo & 3 years with the Falcons. 9 years in the NFL Josh Reed played a long time for the Bills, 7 years. Ryan Denny played 7 years for the Bills, and one year for Houston 2010. 8 years in the NFL Justin Bannan played 4 years for Buffalo, 4 years with the Ravens, 2 years with the broncos, one year with St Louis. 11 years in the NFL Even the 3rd, 7th round pick played 2 years for Buffalo, and another for Washington OT Mike D Williams didn't hack it at LT, and played RT for four years with Buffalo. Then was with the Redskins in 2009 trying to make a comeback at OG. I suppose this one pick stings the most because they drafted Williams at #4, and he flopped. Yet Bryant McKinnie was drafted at #7 went on to play 8 years at LT, for the team that drafted him, and was an all pro. Went on to play for the Ravens for two years, and the Dolphins for another year. That last year was 2013. He also has a DB ring from the Ravens I think a lot of old time Bills fans still hold a big grudge over this pick. Scouts at fault with this one.
  7. Philly tried to trade for him before they got Sproles. Can you imagine McCoy & Spiller on the same team!
  8. Apparently the argument started over Urbik at RG, and the scouting dept stating he was a quality player. Marrone disagreed and profanity ensued... I gotta say I agree with Marrone on this one, and for him to take a stance like that against the Bills scouting dept makes me like him all the more. The current Bills OG situation is sucky at best, and whomever thought OG Chris Williams was a quality pickup needs to be kicked in the groin multiple times, or beheaded. The latter will only result in removing his buttocks. Its just a shame that Marrone is tied to Hackett, Crossman.
  9. Buddy Nix boasting that "who says I don't trade up" after he traded up into the 3rd round for a guy everyone else had graded as a 5th-7th round pick. When the NFL network announced the pick Mike Mayock had nothing to say, ruffled thru some papers and they went to commercial. Marshawn Lynch a first rounder for a 4th hurts. Letting #2 pick Poz, #1 pick Whitner, #2 pick Byrd, #2 pick Levitre walk and get nothing for them hurt more. is it any wonder why the team looks to be running in place at 6-10.
  10. The idea being that they wanted proper talented depth, and at some point in the very near future those players will become starters. I can see a solid reason for allowing Robinson time as a backup, and Cooper missed his first season with a broken leg. According to Cardinals HC Bruce Arians "He's going to be a heck of a player. It's just a matter of time and taking the right approach with him and letting him get healthy." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000389152/article/jonathan-cooper-wont-start-for-arizona-cardinals
  11. If you want the QB to survive long enough to see if he can develop into a decent player I would think you would almost need to draft linemen in the top 10 on a bad team. Chances are their scouting dept stinks, so better to take a player with a higher chance of success rate. The only thing more important then the QB position is protecting the QB (the most valuable player on the team) IMO.
  12. Can we steal the Seahawks OC?
  13. You guys think that every NFL player drafted should be a plug and play no matter where they are picked. The bottom line is that not every player taken early doesn't always pan out right away. The success rate for a top LT is by far more successful with a top ten pick then it is after the 10th pick. I can't emphasis enough how much the Bills got super lucky with Cordy Glenn, and now again with a 7th rounder in Henderson. Greg Robinson is backing up Jake Long who was the #1 overall in 2008, and a pro bowler. Long started 15 games last year, and Robinson is a smart move by the Rams to draft a quality player to eventually replace Long. Taylor Lewan is the backup LT behind Michael Roos in Tennessee, and same deal as with St Louis. Jake Matthews is the starting LT for the Falcons. 2013 #1 overall Eric Fisher is the starting LT for the Chiefs. #2 overall pick Luke Joeckel is the starting LT in Jacksonvile. 4th overall pick Lane Johnson was moved to 2nd string as he is facing a suspension. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/07/28/suspension-looming-lane-johnson-slides-to-second-team/ Chance Warmack is a starting OG for the Titans. Justin Pugh is the starting RT for the Giants. DJ Fluker is the starting RT for the Chargers. A lot of teams draft O linemen early to ensure a greater probability for success in the draft. Rather then taking a gamble with a later round pick. The Bills are so very lucky to have found such a good pair of bookend OT's. Now if they would only fix the OG positions.
  14. NFN Kirby, but you could shout from rooftops in every corner of the city, and there still will be doubt. We can't help it, as we are Bills fans and we have seen victory snatched from the jaws of defeat even in a SB when we are the heavy favorites. Then their started QB was sidelined due to an injury, and their backup QB was to start. An easy victory right.... I acknowledge that you have become the new NGU, and could be the original one for all we know. The reason for all this paranoia is simple, as its why didn't the owner lock a non relocation agreement with the sale of the team instead of the stadium. I know I'll carry this concern that a Larry Page type will swoop in and offer 1.5B and move the team wherever he wants in a few years. So, until the deal is done, and TP is the owner...I'll worry.
  15. Remarkable huh, and he did it with JP Losman & Trent Edwards at QB. Steve Fairchild &Turk Schonert as OC's. The Bills had a 1000 yard rusher in Lynch, and 1000 yard receiver in Evans. It was usually the mounting injuries that killed Jauron's seasons in Buffalo. in 2008 on offense only 3 starters played in all 16 games. What does that tell you about the recent coaching staffs?
  16. I don't agree, as this offense needs to play their way into getting better. It's not gonna instantly happen once they step onto the field. The QB to receivers needs better timing. The O line needs to gain some continuity. 4-4 at the bye with winning 3 of 4 division games would be a great achievement to me with Miami & New England at home, and the Jets on the road. That other win against Minnesota at home. KC- winnable @ Miami- winnable NY Jets- winnable Cleveland- winnable @ Denver Green Bay @ Oakland- winnable @ New England 9-7 and being 5-1 in the division might just be enough to take the division or get a WC berth
  17. Sometimes that's all an old person has...is to be a sumbitch. All the same, after 14 years of constant losing I can understand the frustration of it all. The Bills didn't beat the Miami Dolphins the entire decade of the 70's, and here I thought that was a tough road. 27 losing seasons, and only the Lions 31, and Cardinals 32 have more.
  18. Before the preseason games I was thinking 9-7 was an achievable goal, and now after watching how poorly the offense has preformed I'm not so sure. Now I'm thinking 7-9 tops, 4-12 bottom, and 6-10 again a real possibility. No worries tho, as new ownership takes over if their is another losing season I suspect regime changes to be made.
  19. and have been that way since the Jim Kelly days. There are still strong questions as to if they have finally found either. To the last bolded part. Thank you, I agree! It has been a struggle to remain a Bills fan knowing that ownership was more intent on the team making a profit then winning a super bowl. Quite frankly I don't care if some of you believe it or not. I know it to be true. Now that new ownership is about to take control ....the people that helped maintain that profit margin over winning are now scrambling to try, and build a winning team. Hopefully new ownership will want to win as much as Bills fans do, and oblige them.
  20. I know I won't be feeling better next April - May ! The Browns may look weak on paper, and it means nothing. The 2012 Bills have looked great on paper and DC Dave Wannstedt fielded one of the worst NFL defenses ever. In 2010 the Bills new GM boldly stated he thought the team was "not that far away" and they promptly went 0-8. Mike Pettine looks to know what he is doing, and I think more highly of him then I do a lot of other NFL head coaches. First of all he is still considering suing for various reasons. I do believe that he has a shot on the grounds that as long as he is under contract to the Cleveland Browns he can't pursue his chosen professional career. Meaning it blocks him from playing in Canada, or playing football anywhere else. Anyway, seems almost lame that players can be suspended for doing something that is legal now in some states.
