Breaking News Shanahan fired!
thewildrabbit replied to thewildrabbit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm hearing that Alex Spanos the owner of the San Diego Chargers is suffering from dementia. Perhaps its like the Flu and its catching? Did Pat Bowlen and Ralph Wilson come into contact with Spanos recently? If that is the case can we hope that Bowlen will try and lure Dick Jauron away from Buffalo for a job as Denver's new head coach and give him 6+ million a year, like Shanahan Then the Bills could hire Mike Shanahan who actually has a decent chance to beat the Patriots some time this decade. -
Breaking News Shanahan fired!
thewildrabbit replied to thewildrabbit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm now hearing that Pat Bowlen might have been listening to the fans who have been complaining about Shanahan not winning lately that caused him to fire Mike S, Bowlen lives in Denver. I suppose this is why Wilson lives in Detroit,to avoid the Buffalo media. From Bill Belichick: there is no other coach in the NFL that gives us (the Patriots) more trouble then Mike Shanahan! I find this day to be extremely depressing after hearing that Jauron and his entire staff of idiots will be retained and that the Patriots,Jets and Dolphins fans are all applauding Ralph Wilson's decision. -
At least the Bronco's owner has some balls

BREAKING NEWS: Jauron to be retained
thewildrabbit replied to BarkLessWagMore's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How in the world does a coach get swept in the division and retain his job? My take is Ralph wants to drive away as many fans as he can before he sells the team,or moves it...or both. At least the Raiders have a motto commitment to excellence. The Bills now have a ""Commitment to mediocrity"" -
Wild Bill Calling the Shot! SAYS NO TO JETS!

Cowher and Tom Donahoe had a power struggle in the draft room and Donahoe lost. Take a long hard look at the Steelers players, most of them are Cowher's boys -
Wild Bill Calling the Shot! SAYS NO TO JETS!

The guy will get whatever his heart desires in 2010 More then likely there will be a bidding war between Dan Snyder of the Redskins and Jerry Jones of the Cowboys for his services. Other teams may just join into that war considering every year at least 6-7 head coaches come and go from the NFL. It wouldn't surprise me to see his salary be upwards of 15 million a year if a bidding war does happen. A really smart owner would make him an offer this year that he can't refuse and lock him up for 5+ years. NFL owners every year pay untested rookies godly amounts of guaranteed $$$,why not a great active winning coach? -
Lets not forget Dan Henning who was head coach of BC Eagles and returned to the NFL as an offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills (1997–1998). After Hall of Fame coach Marv Levy retired partially due to his refusal to fire Henning, he left Buffalo. Henning has 2 super bowls rings from his time with the Redskins and helped the Panthers get to the super bowl.

Yep,already stated that Marty would more then likely want to bring in his son Brian who was the offensive coordinator for the NY Jets this year. The other thing is his brother Kurt Schottenheimer who is currently the Packers secondary coach might be hired to be the defensive coordinator or for another position on the defensive coaching side. I wouldn't care if he brought in his entire family tree as long as he wins divisional games and gets the Bills to the Playoffs

The Bills actually outplayed the Patriots in their last game, the stats support this with a 3.6 yards per for the Pats and a 4.6 for the bills. It was the coaching and the calls that lost that game 3rd and 5 on the 12 yd line with 22 seconds to go in the first half and no time outs, Turk Schonert calls a running play to end the half. The Pats were only up by 3 at that time. The guy has 10 years exp as a back up QB and 10 yrs as an assistant coach. 20 years of exp and he doesn't know to call a pass at that point? This one was almost as bad as the rollout pass against the Jets.

Who should the Bills' head coach be in 2009?
thewildrabbit replied to scribo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the three that voted for Jauron were ... Dick Jauron and Turk Schonert and AVP -
Hypothetically, if the Bills Leave WNY.....

After this year, where the world got a good long hard look at what complete and utter fools the Bills have for coaches. That Jet game was at 4:00 and this Bills / Pats game perked up some eyebrows around the country.Everyone saw how Jauron was so out coached by Bill Belichick it was laughable. The Bills played better and harder and yet were incompetent with game decisions so they lost. I strongly doubt that if Jauron is retained that the Bills fans will continue to pay to attend games with a mediocre team that has no shot at playoffs. Every person I've spoken to has stated that if Jauron stays they will give up their season tickets -
Ralph Wilson is clearly a business man first and football fan somewhere after tennis. He wants his organization to show a profit and make money. He chooses to keep the stadium in his name even though he could sell the name for more cash to better afford a decent coaching staff and more premium players. Given his age and the fact he must know that all men must face the reaper at some point, you and I would think that he would go all out for a super bowl considering how little time he has left on this earth. Perhaps he figures that previous won AFC championships are enough and that winning a super bowl is an expense he no longer cares to support.

It seems to me that past Buffalo bills teams would win games when they had a running back with 100+ yards rushing. I can recall that almost every time Travis Henry would hit 100 yards the Bills won.Even with Willis McGahee, he would hit 100 yards rushing and the Bills would win. I realize that 100 yards rushing in a game is not a magic number where once you hit it you automatically win. But what it usually does mean is that a team with a 100+ yard rusher is winning the line of scrimmage battle and therefore should be winning the game. If you look at both teams stats you see that the Bills out gained the pats 276-241 and AVG per rush with the Bills getting 4.6 and the Pats 3.6 . The Bills even had more total plays 56-62. The difference in the game was totally in the coaching. The Bills were so out coached by Bill Belichick it was almost laughable. From a players perspective it must be unbelievably frustrating to know you give up your body and soul for the team but no matter how good or hard you play your team won't win because your coaches are inept fools

According to NFL network Marty Schottenheimer has recently stated he would be interested in coaching again! The guy is 4 for 4 in turning around franchise's, Cleveland browns-Kansas City Chiefs-San Diego Chargers-Washington Redskins. Remember how bad the Chargers were before Marty got there? They were so bad at that time that Eli manning refused to play for them so they traded him to the NY Giants who had drafted Phillip Rivers. Currently Cleveland and the NY Jets are looking hard at Schottenheimer. Both teams have spoken to Bill Cowher also and he turned down the Cleveland job. Somehow I think Marty would prefer to NOT return to Cleveland But I'll wager he would come to Buffalo if allowed to bring in his sons as assistant coaches. At this point I'd be happy to have him bring in his entire family tree to help run the team, he has a proven winning record and a penchant for being a great motivator. Just what this Bills team needs. I don't know about the rest of you bills fans but I'm so sick of this team losing games in the division. I want to see Belicheat get his ass beaten on a regular yearly basis. This current Bills team is not that far from being a really good team, like 12-4 this year if not for the moronic play calling and game decisions. Plus Marty is an Ex Buffalo Bill, Schottenheimer was heavily influenced by Lou Saban, his first professional head coach in the American Football League Talk about a perfect fit. Do all Bills fans a favor and after you read this thread and make a reply with a sign to hire Marty Show Ralph Wilson we are fed up with mediocre seasons.

Coaching choices for the Bills
thewildrabbit replied to EasternOHBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now that marty has stated he is interested in returning to the sidelines as a head coach I'd be more then happy to see him in Buffalo. At this point he could hire his entire family to help run the team and I'd be happy. -
Will the Bills fish for Tuna?
thewildrabbit replied to thewildrabbit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Raider are truly interested in Parcells then perhaps Ralphie may indeed cough up the cash. He and AL have a rivalry going back to the day the Bills trading away Daryl Lamonica to the Raiders where he earned the nickname "the mad bomber" and won championships. It was a very hot rumor that Ralphie finally coughed up the cash for Jim Kelly because Al Davis was courting him. Sending him to England with some Raiderettes So if it looks like Parcells might be close to a deal with Al Davis it wouldn't surprise me to see Ralph Wilson step in and hire Parcells away from Al. -
From NFL.com Adam Schefter Can Lerner lure Pioli to Cleveland? Posted: Adam Schefter | Adam Schefter | Tags: Cleveland Browns, Randy Lerner, Scott Pioli What had been suspected now is confirmed — Cleveland owner Randy Lerner said at his press conference Monday that he has received permission to speak with Patriots Executive Vice President Scott Pioli about the Browns general manager role. The big question is whether Lerner will be able to convince Pioli to come to Cleveland. He already failed to convince former Steelers coach Bill Cowher to coach his team. At the very least, Pioli appears willing to listen. He previously worked in Cleveland from 1992-95 and for the right role, responsibilities, powers and salary, Lerner might be able to pry away Pioli, who is viewed as the gem of GMs. Two other teams have tried and failed to recruit Pioli. Seattle tried hiring him in January 2005, then the New York Giants did the same in January 2007. Both franchises were turned down, but Cleveland might be the right franchise at the right time. If Lerner can make a convincing case with a corresponding offer, then chances are he can land Pioli. http://blogs.nfl.com/2008/12/29/can-lerner...i-to-cleveland/ Here is an owner that is willing to spend money to bring in top people in order to win!

Must be nice to have a franchise who wants to win
thewildrabbit replied to youngunz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps you would,Ralph Wilson wouldn't! If he can't get someone for peanuts he won't hire them. Mangini wasn't ready to be a head coach when the Jets hired him,He is now though. The guy went from secondary coach to DC in one year and then Jets HC.Mangini's biggest mistake was hiring Marty Schottenheimer's son Brian to run the offense. The guy had the best running back in the AFC and kept trying to throw every down with Farve injured. The Jets owner basically gave Mangini an unlimited amount of cash to bring in anyone to help the team win and Mangini exceeded that limit. The Jets are expected to be 26 Mill over the cap next year. -

My secret insider info is whispering in my ear that.... The Jets want to screw over the Patriots again for hiring Bill Belichick away from them.. Mangini didn't get it done. Soooooo. you can expect Scott Pioli - Josh McDaniels - Matt Cassel to all be headed into NYC sometime soon. Farve will retire and they need a QB. The Jets will want to try and grab Matt Cassel in free agency and throw more money at him then he has ever seen. Two Birds here! For the NY Jets to hire someone other then a Patriot coach would nullify any anguish that NY could do to the pats so that idea is out the window.Hiring Josh McDaniels would effectively kill two birds with one stone. It hurts the Pats and helps the Jets, so yeah it works. -
Pioli would simply make too much sense for the Buffalo Bills to hire. The guy is a valid NFL talent evaluator and would turn this entire organization around like Bill Polian did. Of course you do realize he would want control over things that Ralph Wilson wouldn't want to give up control over. PLUS he would actually want an increase in salary and wouldn't work for the peanuts this owner would offer.
