What the Bills Need the Most......
thewildrabbit replied to Kenwick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What the Bills need most ...is to be able to beat the teams in the division, Patriots,Jets and Dolphins twice a year to be successful. What the Bills need most ...is a real president, not an owner who likes to have his hand in everything because he doesn't trust the people he hired to run his franchise, Wilson kinda reminds me of Al Davis at times. What the Bills need most... is a General Manager, someone like Bill Polian who is smart enough to evaluate talent properly and knows how to build a team through the draft like the Steelers have done for so many years. What the Bills need most ...is an offensive coordinator who doesn't panic during games and isn't afraid to stop throwing the ball and use a power running game. What the Bills need most...is a head coach who is smart enough to build an innovative defense or offense, not use dying schemes that other NFL teams have moved away from because they don't work very well anymore. -
For those who kinda like Trent

All I can say is this, the Bills promoted a 10 year clipboard holding back up QB to offensive coordinator, who had trained in a offensive system that most teams have long since dumped and all the guy did was call shotgun passing plays most of the season. But oh yeah, its the QB's fault all right. JP's fault for certain! Turk Schonert is a loser, he never made the grade to even hold JP's jock strap as a starting QB in the NFL. He panics during games just the same way he did when he was given a chance to actually play. That 49er game showed me that the Bills will never field a great offense with him calling plays. Where is Mike Martz and his vaunted passing offensive scheme, its only alive and well in Buffalo. Its GONE from every other team in the NFL. The 49ers fired Martz, The Lions fired Martz, The Rams fired Martz. Lets review that greatest show on turf team shall we, 2 time MVP Kurt Warner, super talented wide receivers in Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt, as well as Az-Zahir Hakim and veteran Ricky Proehl. As well as future HoFer running back Marshall Faulk. Lets not forget some of the best offensive linemen on the planet at the time, 1999. They played on turf in a dome, so lets model the bills after that team! Well hell,if the bills were to get players like that Ram team had they might become the greatest show in snow -
Bills looking for a WR ?
thewildrabbit replied to thewildrabbit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just to give some insight into how long it can take for a player to develop:Josh Reed. It took the guy almost 6 years to become a really decent "go to" slot possession receiver in the NFL. He was originally drafted by the Bills in the second round (36th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played at Louisiana State. At LSU in 2001, Reed was awarded the Fred Biletnikoff Award as the nation's best receiver. While at LSU, Josh was one of the most productive receivers in SEC history. In only two years as a wide receiver (his freshman year he played running back for most of the season and he declared for the NFL draft after his junior season) he rewrote the SEC record books. He holds the SEC record for receiving yardage in a game (293 vs. Alabama in 2001) and season (1,740 in 2001). He also held the career receiving yardage record with 3,001 yards until 2002 when the record was broken by Georgia receiver Terrence Edwards. Reed also holds the SEC season record for receiving yardage per game (145.0 in 2001) and is second in the career receiving yardage per game (96.8). At the 2002 NFL Combine, Reed ran the 40 yard dash in 4.54 seconds, had a vertical jump of 37 inches and ran the 10-yard shuttle in 3.96 seconds While some argue that defensive help is more pressing, I'll continue to wave the red flag at being 25 on offense.Buffalo's passing offense was horrid last year and they need immediate help! -
Bills looking for a WR ?
thewildrabbit replied to thewildrabbit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
C'mon guys, when Josh Reed was out with an injury the passing game completely tanked, remember ? Even with a healthy Reed in the slot Bills just don't have a dominate receiver opposite Lee Evans yet. Hardy or Johnson may well develop into that second guy but I won't hold my breath waiting for either one to get the job done. Another player out there the Bills could go after would be Q, Anquan Boldin of Ariz From ESPN site:http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4512 News: Boldin's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is reportedly soliciting trade proposals for Boldin without the Cardinals' consent, according to the Cardinals' official site. Spin: There are three primary outcomes for Boldin's ongoing contract drama. One, albeit unlikely, is that Boldin and the Cardinals will agree on a restructured contract. The other two options are for Boldin and the Cardinals to coexist for the two remaining years on his contract or for Boldin to be traded. Most of the leverage lies with the Cardinals and they are publicly saying that they want to keep Boldin. Of course, a trade can't be ruled out, especially if Boldin and Rosenhaus continue to cause problems. I know a ton of you guys are clamoring for a DE,LB but the sad fact is the offense was worse stat wise then the defense Bills were 25th on total yards per game,22nd in passing 14th in rushing 23rd in scoring 14th on defense, 13th against the pass,22nd against the run. -
The Bills need some immediate help on offense to take pressure away from Lee Evans and off of Trent Edwards so I'm thinking a FA WR rather then drafting another rookie.I wouldn't mind if the Bills went after TJ hosyourmamma, but then every team out there needing a WR is also after him and will command a high price. About the only guy that could step in and help the bills offense right away other then TJ is Antonio Bryant,IMO The guy had an amazing year considering he was out of football for the 07 season, 6'1'' 205. Season Team G Rec Yds Y/G Avg Lng YAC 1stD TD 2008 Tampa Bay 16 83 1248 78.0 15.0 71 4.7 60 7 Other players that might be open to trade possibility's are, Chad Johnson, has worn out his welcome in Cincy and the Bengals have stated they are open to trade talk I've heard some talk of Braylon Edwards / Kellen Winslow but who knows now with the Mangenius as the Browns HC. Plaxico Burress, up to his neck in legal troubles and it might be a while before he is back in the NFL, It won't stop his agent from shopping him though. thru Scout.com, receivers available through free agency are WR 1 T.J. What young QB would rather have than Edwards?
thewildrabbit replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It doesn't matter who the Buffalo Bills QB is, this coaching staff will manage to make him look horrid most of the time. The franchise needs another Ted Marchibroda desperately, to repair the offense and develop the QB properly. -
Dick Jauron is a better coach than...
thewildrabbit replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Although Jauron hasn't shown me he can't field a winning Buffalo Bills team as of yet and only had one winning season in his head coaching career, and he didn't win a playoff game that one lone winning season. There are so many new unproven head coaches this year and some new coaches from last year that showed more promise then Jauron has done so far. Stating that, until he has an actual winning season with the Buffalo Bills he will remain the worst head coach in the NFL, in my opinion. -
The patriots beat the Bills in the first game with a 4th string RB and a back up QB that hadn't played football since collage, that 4th string RB got over 100 yards rushing against the Bills. Great coaches take whatever talent they have and find a way to utilize them to produce wins, like the Patriots do. Turk Schonert tried to install a high powered passing offense and never backed off that even with a back up QB in the game.much to his and the Bills downfall. Alphadawg, are you Turk Schonert ? or perhaps related to him somehow, otherwise I honestly don't understand your vigorous defense of the Bills moronic play caller. Look at the numbers on this board, most of them think it was the coaching that was at fault this season and not the ill prepared players.
-
And if and buts were raisins and nuts we would have Christmas every day, are you completely stupid or just like to keep arguing when you have no valid point. Schonert KNEW he had a backup QB in there and that didn't stop or slow his passing calls, he KNEW the running game was working better then it had all year and yet he still kept calling passing plays. Any decent coach would have stopped calling pass plays and run the ball, how ineffective does the QB need to be before the coaching staff stops trying to throw against a stacked defensive secondary? The Bills had 38 passing plays in that game, sheer stupidity! Like I stated earlier even a Pee Wee league coach would recognize that his QB is ineffective and run the ball more.
-
That 49er game: Take away the 50 yard run for lynch and he still had 84 yards on 15 carries, that is still 5.6 yards per carry. Better rush AVG then the Bills have had all season and the coaches decide to completely stop running and rely on the back up QB to win the game, monumentally moronic IMO. The Bills also had two drives of 15 plays or longer that produced zero points. The first drive, an 18-play, 85-yarder, ended when Lindell banked a 20-yard field goal attempt off the left upright. The second, a 15-play, 75-yarder, ended when backup quarterback J.P. Losman, pressured by end Ray McDonald, threw an incompletion on fourth-and-2 from the 49ers 7 in the fourth quarter. Anyone can argue that the QB lost that game, but to me its like forgetting to walk your dog and then blaming him for the crap on the carpet. If the OC remembers he has a 2nd string QB in there and realizes the 49ers are dropping more into pass coverage then he is sending receivers, then he should have continued to utilize Lynch over Losman.
-
Do your homework, your dense and just love to argue on and on even though your arguments lack true substance.FIRST,I said Did you miss this sentence with your amazing acumen? Second, a different direction? What kind of sense does that make? Even a pee wee football coach can see if his team is running with authority and having trouble passing against stacked coverage you RUN THE BALL! In the 4th QTR of that 49er game the COACHES made the idiotic decision to stop running the ball, even though they were averaging 6.2 yards per rush on the ground. I know Lynch had a big run on one play, still the the Bills were running with authority and the 49ers didn't even try and stack against the run all game long. Lynch had a hot hand in that game and instead of pounding the ball they TRIED to force the backup QB to make plays, plain and simple. You can continue to blame Losman for that loss and that just shows your ignorance. ANY QB would have had trouble throwing into the pass coverage the 49ers used.

SB Rings ..do practice squad players get them?
thewildrabbit replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would think it would depend on the owner of the team that wins,if he feels magnanimous i suppose everyone in the organization would get one. -
What is astonishing is your lack of intelligence! Are you serious? How can you NOT blame the coaching for that loss against the 49ers? Marshawn Lynch had 134 yards rushing up to the 3rd QTR and the genius coaching staff used him ONE TIME in the 4th QTR and had the BACK QB constantly throw instead. The Bills were down by 7 pts and it might as well have been 30 the way they kept calling pass plays. So you blame the QB and not the coaches because even though SF was dropping 6 into coverage every play and wasn't even bothering to stack against the run and the bills just kept trying to throw the ball with a back up QB in the game!!! Another Losman hater who blames him for everything...
-
The Bills could have a team filled with "Difference Makers" and Bill Belichick would still find a way to beat Buffalo, even if his entire starting first string was on IR After watching the Bills lose to the 49ers, Jets and other teams near the end of last season I have no faith in the current coaching staff to win against even poorly coached teams, no matter who takes the field for the Bills.
-
That singular play stands out more to me then the Norwood "Wide Right" missed field goal. I can recall that Bruce has Hostetler in the Giants end zone and he is holding the ball in his throwing arm away from Smith, Hostetler somehow managed to not fumble it. That play happened right in front of me and I'll never forget it,any other QB and that ball comes out for a Bills TD instead of a safety.

Ralph's comments at the hall of fame press conference
thewildrabbit replied to berndogg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The thing is I think most Bills fans just don't realize how small a market Buffalo really is compared to the bigger markets, love him or hate him you still need to admire Ralph Wilson for keeping the team in Buffalo when he could have moved the franchise many many times for more money, I know I do. Now that he will have a HoF ring like Jim Kelly,Marv levy, Thurman Thomas and Bruce Smith I wonder If he will change his outlook on the current head coach and staff? -

The same Gregg Williams that was a HC with the Bills and failed so he was FIRED? The same DC with the Redskins and was supposed to take over as HC after Joe Gibbs left but instead of at least being retained as DC, he was FIRED? The same guy who was hired to run the Jags defense this past season and failed so he was FIRED? You want a guy who can't even retain his job as a DC over a guy who has won a super bowl...sleazy -

I don't hate Jauron, I actually like the guy and think he is a really good person, I simply think he sucks as a head coach and it really showed towards the end of this season. With the horrid calls such as the one in the Jets game and the various poor decisions in the last few games. You stated Jauron brought in quite a few really good players, why couldn't he win a playoff game with them, or even get back to a winning record after that one lone good season? -

Your statement, Seriously, I don't know why I waste my time even responding to someone who boasts about something then doesn't have the balls to admit they were talking out their backside. You really have no clue on whether Jauron had input on free agents or players drafted in Chicago do you ? -

I agree In fact, I think if Bill Belichick swapped teams with Jauron, the Bills would have won the division and made the playoffs at 12-4 . The post was directed at PushthePile -

I'm still awaiting the proof that shows that you know Jauron had no input into the talent brought into that Bears team. You made a statement, now back it up. -

OH, now your stating that the Bears did Indeed have talent and Jauron didn't know how to utilize it,but Lovie Smith did? -

Would you be willing to show proof to your pure speculation that Jauron had no input into who was brought into that Bears team,or ya just wanna keep blowing hot air. The Bills don't have a GM!.....GOOD LORD HOW WILL THEY BE ABLE TO BRING IN ANYONE The OP brought Jauron into it: DJ has proven to me he sucks with those "calls" late in this season. I'd take Gruden over him any day,the guy actually has a brain! I'm about sick of Jauron and him being a players coach,I'll take someone who the players hate, but wins super bowls -

thewildrabbit replied to Tonawanda Troy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Talent ? The guy had 5 years in Chicago to bring in talent. That 13-3 team didn't win any playoff games which still leads me to believe that Jauron was simply lucky that season and didn't gain that result because of his coaching skills. They lost that game 33-19 AT Chicago. I'd bet Bill Belichick and Jauron could swap teams and Belichick would still beat the Bills every single time they played. The Bills are lacking talent alright, in the coaching staff.
