Both announcers just called it that the Bills are forcing the pass again against a better pass defense (#9) vs the 29th defense against the run. Nothing new here. -

Why I think Marrone should be fired...
thewildrabbit replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My mistake as I posted that the day after the Monday night game, and previous to that game they were last in TD's in the red zone. Take away the two wins against the 2-9 Jets, and they really, really suck in the red zone. The two rushing TD's & two passing TD's against the crappy Jets on Mon night allowed them to move to 29th out of 32nd. It doesn't deter the fact that the bills are also 24th in total offense. I look at the failure of the offense more in bad game planning, scheme, and failure to even try and mount a decent run game. Then after that Thursday night game against Miami even both Deion Sanders & Phill Simms both commented it was not the players, but bad coaching. I gotta think the Bills coaches will stay true to form*, and go pass happy again this game since the Browns have a better pass defense, weak run defense. Like I said, The Bills have an NFL championship defense, and a college JV offense. -
I'd rather trade for Harbaugh, or better yet just sign Bill Cowher after the season.

More like 20 seconds... This game is tough for me to get a handle on because I don't know which Buffalo team is going to show up for this game. The Browns are #8 against the pass, 31st in the NFL against the run so I expect the Bills to come out passing like they have almost all year. Cleveland has only allowed 18 sacks all year so I don't expect the Bills defense to win the game like they did against the Jets

Same here Who has Gruden groomed into a top QB? Somehow I feel Chip Kelly or Pete Carroll would find a way to make this kid a good NFL player. Besides, some players take longer then 3-4 years to fully develop. I read somewhere where they said he has the "yips". Good coaching, with a good line, run game, and good surrounding cast can make a world of difference.

Why I think Marrone should be fired...
thewildrabbit replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm merely using the rankings to give context to how bad the team is on offense. I never said the Bills were the worst team in the NFL in the red zone. I said the Bills are currently the worst in the red zone in scoring TD's. That is a huge stat when you think they could have gotten 21 points against the Dolphins instead of only 9. The Bills have been bad in the red zone with both Orton and EJ, both this year and last year. The Bills are fielding a bad offense, and its not just due to the poor play of the players, or their mistakes. If you go back thru the thread and read my other posts you would read where I state.... The offensive troubles are being thrown at Marrone's feet because he is the HC, and is thoroughly responsible for the production or non-production of his offensive players. Good thing the Bills GM gave up 3 draft picks to obtain that explosive play making WR (2014 #1 & 2015 #1, #4) to have his coaches use him as a decoy to get the #2 in Robert Woods pick the ball. The Bills are currently fielding a championship defensive ranked fourth in total defense, number one in sacks in the NFL VS a JV college offense! Is it ok with you to ranked the Bills defense number four in total defense, number one in sacks? -
Who wants to apologize to Danny Crossman?
thewildrabbit replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
and for Whaley in finding a decent punter and my favorite kicker in Dan Carpenter! In Marrone carrying two kickers, and fielding extra players for special teams while know red zone threat WR MIke Williams is inactive most of the year. This last game I think MW was in on some ST snaps at least. The Bills red zone scoring is the worst in the NFL in scoring TD's. The O line is one of the worst in the NFL, as is the the offense. So, sorry if i don't choose to cheer for Maroons best buddy considering the HC is constantly shifting help his way. Meanwhile the offense needs a bunch of help in the run game, and scoring points. -
A Very Sad Story About Darryl Talley
thewildrabbit replied to norton20's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is very heartbreaking, as Darryl was one of my favorite players. Lets hope the Pegula's step up and help, as they can certainly can afford it. Even if its offering the man a job as a spokesman or coach for the team. -

If its any consolation I happen to agree with you. For the life of me I just don't get why some fans are so adamant about protecting, defending a coach this bad with the offense. Fielding one of the very worst O lines in the NFL. The O line- offense is his forte, and the deniers just refuse to admit it. It isn't debatable. This is like defending Gailey, and his choices for DC's (Edwards & Wannstedt) who were both so horrible at their jobs. I for one don't care to wait another 3-5 years while this man figures out what he doesn't know to be a decent NFL HC, that is "if" he ever does. What else isn't debatable is the fact that the Bills offense is one of the worst in the league, and the very worst in red zone TD's. This season the buffalo Bills are fielding a championship defense that is currently #4 in total defense, #4 in passing, #8 in rushing, #4 in turnover differential, and #1 in sacks with 46 -#5 in interceptions. The defense won't be able to maintain, or increase those numbers against the better teams if they don't have a decent run game with the bad upcoming winter weather. In the past 12 games the Bills didn't even try to establish a dominate run game in most of those games, and even when their run game was dominating at averaging 5.0 yards per carry. That happened against the #1 pass defense in the league, and that to me is simply beyond stupid. The Bills finally have an owner who has so much money that paying for a top NFL head coach won't ever be an issue again, and that lone factor has been holding this team back for the last 14 years. With better coaching you have a better staff, better drafts, better personnel, better schemes and more wins. Just like the NE Patriots, who the Bills need to compete with to ever get anywhere in the division. You just can't hide a bad run game, O line, offensive play calling against the better teams behind a great defense. Sadly, the Bills don't play the Jets again this year. Ultimately the offense will drag the defense down to its level, and we will see that perhaps against Cleveland. Almost certainly against Denver, Green Bay, and New England. Five more to go. -
Lets talk about the 48 passes game. The Bills lost that game 13-17, and were in the lead until the 4th quarter. The simple fact is they came out passing against the Chiefs #1 pass defense in the league. The idea behind pounding the rock is to control the LoS, and clock. Thus wearing down the opposing defense while keeping your own defense fresh, and on the bench. I think its unbelievably moronic to come out passing against the #1 ranked pass defense, and then not to run more when you see your team is gashing the opponent 5.0 yards per carry, per rush. Again, against the Dolphins the Bills had the lead going into the second half of the game, and even into the third quarter they were up 9-3. They couldn't convert those three drives into the Dolphins redzone into TD's and settled for FG's. The Bills were in the shotgun almost the entire game both games, and didn't try to establish play action that would greatly help in running the ball. This against the Miami #2 pass defense in the league. Like I've said before. Its almost like the Bills OC is taking bribes to throw games by forcing his offense into the opponents strengths or he is purposely trying to lose games so they fire Marrone, so he can be the HC. I find it almost unbelievably stupid that a sane person would try to play right into an opponents strengths, and he has been doing this since the Chargers game in week 3. A little fair? I'm being a little fair in not calling the man every derogatory name I can think of, and because he appears to be so very simple minded, I resist.

In regards to the OP's topic. The Bills could have drafted any one of the #1 picks at WR Beckham, Benjamin and used him as a decoy to get the scrub receivers open. The entire intent to trade up and give up two 2015 picks to draft an explosive playmaker like Watkins should be to use him often every game! They even stated they used him as a decoy against the Patriots Revis Island. Makes no sense to me.

I feel like the current offensive coaches really don't have the first clue on how to beat the better teams. The better offensive teams in the league dictate to their opponents. Against the #1 pass defense in the league in the KC Chiefs the Bills throw 48 times, and rush only 22 times while having a 5.0 YPC average. It just makes no sense to game plan like that, or try and force the weakest part of the team into the opponents strongest area. 13 points of offense is simply not acceptable, even against a good team. Then against Miami with the #2 pass defense in the league the Bills throw 39 times while rushing only 19 times. Again only 9 points on offense is not acceptable. The Bills put up 38 points on one of the worst teams in the league, a team that clearly doesn't have a viable NFL starting QB. The Jets didn't have more then 50 passing yards in the first half. I'm not thinking that the scoring drought is over now because the Jets suck so badly. Out of 10 offensive drives against the Jets the Bills had 4 drives that went for more then 45 yards, 3 TD's and a FG. While better then that first game, they still had drives of 5 yards, 6 yards, 36 yards, 16 yards, 4 yards, -2 yards. While I'm happy the Bills pounded a hated division rival, and made their HC look out coached by Schwartz. Its tough for me to feel euphoric about a win against a team as bad as the Jets. We will see how the rest of the season plays out against four teams with winning records vs one more bad team. I don't feel Sammy will ever see his full potential this season with these offensive coaches. A shame, because I was hoping he would get RotY. The Bills are fielding a championship defense, and a JV college offense.

frustrating usage of sammy watkins
thewildrabbit replied to TallskiWallski83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good point when you look at the targets, and catches for the season Chicago 4 targets, 3 rec, 31 yards Miami 11 targets, 8 rec...117 yards 1 TD San Diego 8 targets, 2 rec, 19 yards Houston 9 targets, 4 rec, 30 yards Detroit 12 targets, 7 rec, 87 yards New England 3 targets, 2 rec, 27 yards...a decoy Minnesota 14 targets, 9 rec, 122 yards, 2 TD's NY Jets, 6 targets, 3 rec 157 yards KC, 10 targets, 4 rec 27 yards. KC had the #1 pass defense in the league Miami, 7 targets 3 rec 32 yards --one rushing attempt for 3 yards. Miami had the #2 pass defense in the league NY Jets, 5 targets 3 rec 35 yards As we can see the more Sammy is targeted the more he catches, and the better chance the Bills have to win. On one hand Sammy is ranked 23rd in the NFL, and has more yards then Vincent Jackson & Jimmy Graham. On the other hand the Bills gave up 3 draft picks / 3 players for this kid, and they really should be force feeding him the ball every game to justify spending that many picks on any player. After 12 games Sammy isn't even ranked as the best rookie WR in this years draft, as that honor goes to #11 ranked Mike Evans. Evans has had 2 100 yard games and a 200 yard game. Next up after that is #18 Kelvin Benjamin with #37 Odell Beckham quickly catching up. What we don't know is how many times the Bills OC calls for Sammy to be the primary target, and how many times Orton sees him covered and goes to another receiver. What I do know is that Sammy should be seeing at the very least 10 targets a game. From the looks of things the current OC has only tried once all season to put Watkins in a run the ball situation, and he could be seeing one to two looks in that aspect a game. End around's, reverses etc. When you have such an explosive a weapon on offense, and the teams best offensive weapon. It just makes common sense to try and feed him the ball as much as you can. JMHO -
The coaches were forced to stay at the facility because they were snowed in, and the players were forced to stay at home and ponder their plight. I think its more they wanted to let off all that hostility from being closed in all week on the hapless Jets. Rex Ryan's face during most of the game was priceless ,as if he couldn't believe how things were going. This after he boldly stated his team would play 1000 times better for this game. The one thing I know for certain is the Jets need a franchise QB worse then the Bills. I mean they didn't have even 50 yards of passing by the half.

Better offensive coaches, and a better line! Build the line like the Cowboys have this year, and then we will see if Orton or even EJ will be good enough. its pretty tough to properly evaluate what you have at QB with one of the worst O lines in the league. The poor play of the OG's makes it almost impossible to step up in the pocket.

72 I must admit I was also leery of Schwartz, and his "wide nine" defense that gave up far to many rushing yards for the sake of a better pass rush. That isn't happening in Buffalo this season. Plus I was starting to get that same old Dave Wannstedt feeling when he just rushed the front four against San Diego, and wasn't blitzing on third down. Since then the defense has gotten better as the season progressed. Some tough games ahead tho, with all teams atop their respective divisions Cleveland 7-4, at Denver 8-3, Green bay 8-3, New England at 9-2 with the devil himself at QB. Only the Raiders on the road look like an easy win.
