  1. Not for nothing but this is what you get when you have the owner as the president, who lives in Detroit, and no GM. The buck stops somewhere between Buffalo and Detroit...and Florida.
  2. And... they plan on adding Dockery. They will backload everything, that owner can afford to over pay millions. That stadium is sold out for the next 20 years no matter what they field.
  3. You gotta figure if a team doesn't want to resign a player that perhaps there is a reason, with Haynesworth 100 mill in this economy is simply crazy. I'm hoping the Bills have learned to not over pay for some of these FA's. Jeff Saturday resigned with the Colts. What gives me a spark of hope for this up coming season is the fact that Turk Schonert has stated the offense was stymied last season because they didn't have that receiving threat opposite Lee Evans. The fact that they recognize the problem and will attempt to fix it somehow makes me feel they might actually improve on offense.
  4. I agree about Mcshay, I've always wondered how this bozo got a job as an scout / player analyst when he clearly doesn't know much.
  5. Sorry I just don't see the Bills taking another DT in the first round simply because they already have a 1st rounder sitting on the bench. its just not a position of great need. "IF" the Lions are smart, which I think they are, they will select Aaron Curry with that first pick. Curry will start immediately and have an impact on that defense Schwartz wants to install. Both Sanchez and Stafford are JR's,underclassmen should sit and learn to develop properly.Stafford has a big arm no question, and could go #1 though. The Bills have stated recently that they need to score points, and that they lack that receiving threat opposite Lee Evans,.I'm hoping the Bills go with either Brandon Pettigew or Jeremy Maclin. Mike Mayock has mentioned that Pettigrew is a throwback type TE that is best TE in the draft, irregardless of his speed.
  6. Bruce Smith tested positive to cocaine, Bill Polian had detectives following the guy around Buffalo to make sure he stayed clean. The guy was in a position very much like Jared Allen in which he has 2 strikes and was suspended 3 games, one more positive test and he would have been suspended for a year. Allen does have an admitted drinking problem though, not drugs. Lawrence Taylor used to brag about the fact that when he was paid each week he would have 98k extra cash in his pocket, and stated what else was he supposed to do with it besides buy drugs? Like I stated earlier, 3 misdemeanor charges ML has are a fay cry from a felony, which is what Plaxico Burris faces.
  7. That statement is totally retarded, because someone has a weapon in their car, it means they want to kill someone?...wow! And No, it doesn't scream "thug" to me... High profile players like Marshawn are targets of the real criminals out on the streets, his mistake was not getting a license for that handgun, "IF" it was his. 3 misdemeanor charges are a far cry from a felony charge, like the one Plaxico Burris faces Furthermore, does anyone else recall hall of fame Bruce Smith getting a 3 game suspension for testing positive to drugs? One more positive test and he would have been suspended for a year, he sucked it up and look what happened ...HoF!
  8. We can dream can't we
  9. I wouldn't trade Lynch unless it was for something / someone exceptional, Boldin perhaps, maybe even to Cincy for Chad Johnson. Lynch is arguably the best player the Bills have IMO. Jackson is really good, but who knows if he can take a full seasons pounding, even if the Bills were to add Taylor which would be a mistake IMO. RB's take more abuse then any other position, there is a reason the Jags have dumped him.
  10. I'll be surprised if Raji is still there at 11 and more surprised if the Bills were to take him considering another #1 draft pick DT is currently sitting on the Bills bench. Although he may turn out to be a great player at some point, I've noticed he is really lacking in speed, so is he a 2 down LB? This is the guy I'm hoping the Bills draft "IF" they go with a defensive player in the first round, the guy is a beast at stopping the run,has long arms to block passes and can get pressure on the QB as well. I really can't stand Buffalo's inability to stop the run.
  11. I agree, but GL with that...the scouts are raving about him after his combine workout. He ran a 4:57 40, He will go in the top 5 IMO
  12. good post, In response to other posts, a real red zone threat to accompany Lee Evans would help the Bills offense immensely.
  13. In recent articles Dick Jauron mentioned that scoring more points is a priority and Turk Schonert mentioned that the Bills currently don't have that second receiver threat to help keep Lee Evans from getting double teamed and to give Edwards another option in the red zone. I mentioned the latter point in one of my earlier posts, It actually gives me hope for this season to read that Schonert understands the problem and the team will work to correct it. Will the Bills go after Owen Daniels, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, perhaps Marvin Harrison? Some big names that might actually have an impact on offense this upcoming season. Will the Bills spend that 11th pick on TE Brandon Pettigrew or WR Jeremy Maclin? What will happen if Jauron finishes the 09 season with an 8-8 record or less? Even with an 8-8 record I think Wilson will make a change in order to appease the fan base and season ticket holders. Now considering the fact that few draft picks actually produce at a high level their first year or two and some take even longer before they are fully developed. Unless the Bills somehow manage to get Aaron Curry with the 11th pick, someone who most scouts think can step in and play at a high level from day one. Most of the Bills fans on this board want a DE at #11 rather then a offensive player. That defensive player will surly help the team at some point but the offense will still be lacking. Unless the Bills can obtain some players that can start and really help the team this year, Jauron just might be drafting for his successor.
  14. Basically Jauron is stating the Bills biggest problem this past season was the inability to score points. He states that the defense did pretty well and special teams did pretty well. He goes on to praise Trent Edwards and thinks he will only get better. Turk Schonert is saying they couldn't throw deep because most times the protection simply wasn't there, plus the fact that Lee Evans was almost never open. Teams know he is the Bills biggest passing threat and so they take him away. After reading both articles by Jauron and Schonert I have to believe that the bills really want to find that red zone threat, a receiver who can score points when they get inside the 20 and they also need a receiver opposite Evans who can help stretch the field. That said, a top free agent WR and or TE would appear to be a priority. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bills go hard after TJ Housyourmomma as he would solve both problems IMO. sorry Lori. Ive read it and it won't happen again
  15. Here is the entire article: http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/billsnfl/story/585785.html Bills coordinator Schonert enthused by Edward's growth By Mark Gaughan NEWS SPORTS REPORTER • Schonert would not say what tops his offseason wish list, but he acknowledged it was too easy for opponents to take Lee Evans away. • “In our division they know who our big threat is,” he said. “It’s Lee Evans. So what are they going to do? They’re going to take him away. They’re going to make you beat them in other ways. We have to improve in the pass game, no doubt about it.” “When you double Lee, he’s your big home run threat. You’ve got to find someone else who’s going to get deep. We don’t really have that guy. We had James [Hardy] but he was limited in what he did, being a rookie. We have to find other ways to get the ball down the field.” • At the same time, Schonert said he tried to call deeper routes more times than people realized. “We call them and you get sacked. You get beat right away. There were times when we had Lee Evans for a touchdown. We had Hardy for a touchdown the very first play of the first Jets game, but we had to dump it off to Marshawn real quick because of protection.” --------------------------------------------------- I wanted to point out that Schonert is even mentioning that the Bills are in dire need of another down field threat to take pressure off Lee Evans and help Trent Edwards Sorry Lori, thought I made mention in they were not mine but was quoting from them, I know I didn't link them
  16. I've mentioned this in an earlier post and got flamed for it... this guy actually rated as a REAL DE in the draft Ayers Jackson and Brown. All the other players everyone is talking about are projected OLB's. That's not to say they couldn't play DE in the NFL I know the majority on this board is clamoring for a pass rushing DE,light and fast with a quick initial burst to get to the QB. The thing is with Buffalo's "Tampa 2" defense, the only players that are supposed to be rushing the QB are the 4 defensive lineman, the entire scheme is designed so that they only need to rush the front 4. That's their job,to get to the QB and stop the run. Considering the Bills defense was far worse at run defense then it was at pass defense last season even without their best pass rusher I"d rather see them draft a bigger player who is a senior and will make the transition to the NFL faster then an underclassman. I'd rather see them draft a guy like Tyson Jackson to not only rush the passer but STOP THE RUN! If the Bills were to trade back in the first round they might be able to get Tyson Jackson DE at #20 and perhaps still get Brandon Pettigrew TE late in the first round, which would save them #11 money also. Played in 12 of 13 games in 2005 as a reserve. Took over as a fulltime starter in 2006 (Sophomore), finishing with 37 total tackles, 10 TFL and 8.5 sacks in 13 games. He started all 14 games as a junior in 2007, finishing with 36 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, 10 PBUs and 15 QBHs. Height-Weight-Speed 3 Excellent all-around size. Is tall and well-proportioned. Speed is adequate for such a massive DE prospect but below average for the position Durability 1 Has played in 40 games during his three seasons (2005-'07), including 27 consecutive starts heading into his senior year (2008 Character 2 Needs to show a more consistent motor on the field. Has some strong upper-body moves to get an OT off-balance, but lacks closing burst to consistently take advantage. Will never be a threat to turn the corner with pure speed off the edge in the NFL. Will always be a better run-plugger than pass rusher Run Stopper 1 Is an outstanding run defender. Big-bodied DE with a wide base, long arms and big hands. Can stack and shed. 17. Buffalo News: Bills coordinator Schonert enthused by Edward's growth After reading this article and the one above it I believe the Bills will make WR / TE a priority in the draft and free agency
  18. Not Certain if any noticed this article from ESPN,thought I'd post it.
  19. Bill Belichick was asked at the combine what he thinks of all the coaching changes this off season and he stated "it doesn't seem right to not have people like Mike Shanahan, John Gruden, Brian Billick and Steve Mariucci to not be head coaches in the NFL. Guys that he has coached against, and at times not very well. It won't surprise me at all to see most those ex head coaches get new HC jobs next off season after some the new / old coaches fail this up coming season.Plus Bill Cowher will land in either Dallas, Washington or Carolina depending on how those teams do and which owner bids the most $$$ John Harbaugh made the playoffs last season with the Ravens because of OC Cam Cameron, and mostly because of Rex Ryan's defense. Ryan is with the Jets now and Ray Lewis and other players will change teams, doubtful the Ravens will be in the playoffs again next season. Jets- Rex Ryan-ex Raven DC Browns- Eris Mangini* -ex Jets HC Colts-Jim Caldwell- ex Colts QB coach Broncos Josh McDaniels- ex Pats OC Chiefs-Todd Haley-ex ariz OC Raiders-Tom Cable- ex Raiders OL coach Lions-Jim Schwartz- ex Titan DC Rams-Steve Spagnuolo- ex NYG DC Seahawks-Jim Mora*-ex Falcon HC ex Seahawk & asst HC sec coach Buccaneers- Raheem Morris ex Bucs DB coach I just don't see many of these teams with new untested head coaches getting their teams in the playoffs. *Mora and Mangini have previous head coaching experience and are inheriting decent teams so they 'could' get into the playoffs. Jim Caldwell taking over for Tony Dungy 'should' be in the playoffs as well.
  20. I agree I think we all know who the real douche on this board is, the one who made that initial statement! Mayock has been recruited by various teams to be their head scout, assistant GM and numerous positions involving the talent evaluation process. He turned them all down to stay at the NFL network for whatever reason.
  21. You mean for another team right? I believe It was when the Bills OC, Ted Marchibroda was hired away from Buffalo to be the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts back in 92,the Bills still managed to get to two super bowls after he left, but that was because he had trained Kelly to call his own plays. Man I miss Ted Marchibroda.
  22. The old adage, "On any given Sunday any team can win" is pure BS, tell that to the 08 Lions Granted a football is an oblong spheroid and can bounce in any direction, plus the fact that lady luck can step in and change things at any moment. The simple fact is, no matter how many great players the Bills have on the roster they won't win consistently with the coaching staff they currently have. It comes down to the X's and O's and not the Jimmy's and the Joe's, as much as I can't stand Bill Belichick, I also can't help but admire what the guy can accomplish with any player, on any Sunday. Look at those Patriots for 08 season, they lose the starting QB for the entire season and that QB happens to be one of the best ever, and they still finish with a winning record. They started a player at QB that hadn't played football since high school and he ends up getting a 14 million dollar franchise tag, anyone else but me amazed by that fact ? They lose the starting RB and 2 back ups and still manage to beat Buffalo with a 4th string RB who rushes for over 100 yards, unfreakin real. I'm not saying I dislike Dick Jauron as a person, I'm saying I can't stand him as a head coach. The biggest difference between him and Marv Levy, is that Marv was smart enough to being in someone who could actually build a winning offense.
  23. Seems like you really can't get that fact through to some on this board, they blame the players, the QB mostly. This Franchise has had bad coaching for so long that most think that any coach can "coach", not true. The difference between Belichick and Jauron is enormous, I see it every time the Bills play the Patriots.Belichick actually trained Josh McDaniels to run that offense after Charlie Weiss left the Pats, that is pretty amazing. Jauron is well liked by his players because he was player and knows the ins and outs of being a head coach,he can talk the talk but fails at the walk. He prepares his team the best he can, but its not nearly good enough to win consistently. The rest of the AFC east knows exactly what to expect the bills to do on offense and defense, the Bills simply aren't innovative and won't out think any teams in the division. When the Bills lose next season expect to hear more about how they lack talent at this position or that position, but I think the real place they are lacking talent is in the coaching.
