  1. Sorry, but no way is Peters worth 11.5 mill a year, not to mention the highest paid o lineman in the NFL. I think he wants out of Buffalo just by asking for that much,I'd say buh bye The Bill would be better off trading him and moving Walker over to Peters position.
  2. First of all the bronco's have not given formal permission to Cutler to seek a trade, therefore his agent can't do squat right now concerning talking with other teams,or its tampering. So if bus cook was in town it wasn't to talk about Jay Cutler with the Bills, please get a grip willyas
  3. Interesting article posted by BuffaloFootballReport.com http://buf.scout.com/2/847565.html The thing is, unless the Bills build a better O line then they had last season they won't win many games with Edwards on his back from being sacked in under 3 seconds or on the sidelines because he was injured again. Makes you wonder if they should have gone for Jeff Garcia as the back up, someone who can throw on the run. Maybe they plan to draft Pat White in the second round to run the wildcat and option? Pretty tough to be a pocket passer with no pocket. I agree with this statement from the article: In retrospect, the Bills should have dove head-first into rebuilding on the offensive line. Rather than settling with Hangartner, why not unload an impossible-to-refuse contract to Jason Brown, Stacey Andrews or Tra Thomas? Trade Jason Peters for a handful of picks and move on with a new-look line. No starting left tackle in the NFL gave up more sacks that Peters last season (13.5). The last thing he needs is the richest contract ever for an offensive lineman. Wow,totally agree here.Is Peters asking for that much because he knows it won't happen with Buffalo? Nate Clements was a good CB, but he certainly wasn't worth what SF paid him IMO. Owens got the ticket sales going for now(and Jersey sales), but how can they win games with another lousy O line?
  4. Totally agree here, what kind of a moron coach messes with his QB's head? Seriously, can anyone name a better player on that Bronco team, any other players make the pro bowl? McDaniels is a retard for wanting to bring in Matt Cassel to replace Cutler. The Bronco's had the #2 overall offense in the NFL last year and here is the new head coach screwing it all up,amazing
  5. This is by far the most stupid move a new young head coach could have done, the one solid position on the team that doesn't need an upgrade and they screw with his head. My take is the owner brought in Josh McDaniels to help improve the passing game and offense and he is blowing up the team. If he wanted to screw with someone why not the real screw up, Brandon Marshall who can't seem to stay out of trouble? Just from watching this drama unfold it is apparent to me that Pat Bowlen will be looking for a another head coach soon.
  6. Depending upon what style of offense a school runs will usually determine what kind of plays the receiver needs to learn, some college passing offenses are very basic and may only use 6-8 plays out of 14+.Pro receivers need to learn all routes at all positions and also hot reads for when opposing defenses blitz. Its been noted that Ted Ginn JR came out of Ohio st with a learning disability, plus the fact that they only had him run a select few offensive passing plays. Stating that, it was surprising that the Dolphins selected him with the 9th pick because most scouts figured he would take several years for him to develop and to learn all the routes that the NFL teams utilize, not to mention the hot reads. I suppose that old adage applies here, you can't teach speed
  7. The bastages signed him to a one year contract http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playernews.aspx?sport=NFL I really hope the Bills are up to the task of beating them 2x for 09. Even if they have to take Pat White in round 2 and run the wildcat up Billicheats backside.
  8. Not only do college WR's not run pro style routes, the DB's in college don't play press coverage and not many are of NFL quality. So consequently it is very difficult for scouts to judge WR's,one of the most difficult positions to evaluate. Hardy was a monster in college, it may take a year or two to fully develop him but he should be very good once he finally gets it all down.
  9. "Maybin is widely acknowledged to have the fastest first step of all the DEs this year".That was pre combine,he looked slow and ran a slower 40 then expected. How in the world can you say the combine is only 10%? The combine is really nothing more then a job interview. This is the most important step for their future job in the NFL. They need to come in prepared to show what they can do.The majority of smart players have personnel trainers or go to camps to get into the best shape of their lives. If a player comes in to the combine overweight and out of shape it sends up red flags to everyone. If they preform very poorly it also sends up red flags as to why they performed that way. Do they have an injury, just lazy and don't care. When a player like Maybin has had only one good year in collage,he could be termed a "one year wonder" or he could have just been giving a better effort his senior year to get paid.He came into the combine 15 lbs heavier and had lost that burst step he showed at Penn St. He did very very poorly in the 3 cone drill and his performance overall was very poor. Now if you go to a job interview dressed like a slob and don't really seem interested in the job your applying for, what does that tell your prospective employer? Maybins performance at the combine WILL send red flags to the real scouts and teams, that should change his position in the draft,it just remains to be seen where he ends up in the draft and how he preforms once drafted. Kiper never played in the NFL,he was never a scout in the NFL. His claim to fame was that he watched a ton of collage football and would attend games and converse with scouts. I believe he gets most of his information from other sources rather then his own critique. He has some credibility in what he says, its just that he gets caught up in these personal vendettas when someone likes a player he doesn't like or vice versa. The guy has made tons of horrific blunders that everyone seems to forget. He openly stated that Ryan Leaf and his behavior / attitude in collage would help him in the pro's and that he was as good as Payton Manning, had better natural physical tools then Manning and would be a great QB. I suppose nobody brings this up because Ryan Leaf fooled most everyone. In 2005 Kiper stated that USC receiver Mike Williams was the best player in the draft, when someone else stated that he wasn't the best. Kiper declared that he would see the guy at Williams NFL HoF induction ceremony...guess not.
  10. Kiper is a dolt Maybin had one good year at Penn st and since the end of the season he gained 15 lbs, went from 234 to 249. At the combine he looked terribad and in the 3 cone drill he stunk the place up and lost that burst first step. If you go only by his collage film he looks really good,if you go by the combine he has complete bust written all over him.Dunno how he is still ranked at the top 10 spot by Kiper.
  11. There is a time between now and the draft and OTA's and finally training camp, why over pay for someone who isn't worth their current going rate. Players get a whole lot cheaper once it gets closer to training camp. For certain it makes sense to see how the draft unfolds to get a better picture of what positions still need help. You guys gotta understand that if a player is really good that their team will find a way to lock them up.The market is full of over priced players that have lost some edge or they wouldn't even be on the market.
  12. I find it seriously disheartening to see any player asking for that much money considering people all over the county are losing their jobs and homes. He signed a contract, let him stick to it or trade him,let someone else pay him. Lots of good tackles in the first 11 picks, probably 6 will go in the first round. Rank Rating Name Yr Ht/Wt/40 College Home OT 1 Jason Smith SR 6-5/300/- Baylor Dallas, TX OT 2 Michael Oher SR 6-5/309/- Mississippi Memphis, TN OT 3 Eugene Monroe SR 6-6/315/- Virginia Plainfield, NJ OT 4 Andre Smith JR 6-4/348/- Alabama Birmingham, AL OT 5 William Beatty SR 6-6/291/- Connecticut York, PA
  13. Yea it was that simple, the bills were driving down to the 49ers 6 yard line with 12:10 left to go in the game and decided to go for it on 4th down, they failed to get a first down so the bills turned the ball over on downs at the niners 6 yd line. On third down the bills ran Jackson up the middle, where was Lynch on 3rd and one? Why wouldn't you give it to your player with the hot hand, simply stupid! Then why run right up the middle against their strength and in an elephant type formation no less. Jeez, think the 49ers knew the Bills were gonna run it? If JP pitches the ball to Lynch instead of the quick hand off to Jackson, its a first down or a even a TD. The wrong call at the worst time. Now,the 49s punt the ball to the Bills with 7:14 left on the clock, Roscoe returns it from the bills 35 to the 49ers 40 yd line, plus a unsportsmanlike like penalty on the 49ers puts the ball on the 49ers 25 yd line. So the Bills have 25 yards to go with 7:13 time left and down by 7 points, score is SF 10-Bills3. They can't get a first down running Jackson again so they attempt a field goal and miss, again why no Lynch? 49ers were inept on offense more so then the Bills so they punt again with 2 min remaining,so the Bills start throwing from their 19 yard line with 1:47 left.Safties dropping deep and the Niners front 4 rushing JP,perfect time for a draw to Lynch. Instead they call a pass play and JP gets sacked, next play you guessed it a pass play.tries to dump it off to Reed and JP over throws him.Last Bills play, another pass play with JP completing it to Lynch at the line of scrimmage. Sorry but I just don't get when you have a player that is killing the opposing team, you simply stop utilizing him!He was still in the game, they simply stopped calling his number. Edwards may have won that game if he had been in there instead of JP,the OC needs to adjust his thinking and play calling when a back up is in the game at any position. It wasn't the players that lost that game,it was the coaches bad play calling IMO.
  14. I'm not so sure about that statement anyway, I can recall the Bronco's receivers complaining that after practice they would have little X's all over their chest from the impact of the Elway throws.
  15. Remember that 49er game at all? the 10-3 loss at Buffalo The Niners dropped everyone into coverage and only rushed with their front four most of the day. Lynch had 136 yards by the end of the 3rd QTR and Turk Schonert in his infinite wisdom didn't give Lynch but ONE carry in the entire 4th QTR. Instead he had the back up QB (JP) throw every play. This was against a team that wasn't even trying to stop the run, they didn't need to either, because Schonert kept forcing the QB to throw into double and triple coverages. Jeez, even a pee wee league coach would have stopped trying to throw into that kind of coverage and simply run the ball. Now you say Schonert was a rookie last year as the Bills OC,somehow that doesn't give me any confidence in his ability to improve considering he has 10 years as a back up QB in the NFL and 10 years as an assistant coach.

  17. Yea well, no offense to the OP but who the heck is draftcountdown.com? its some guy named Scott Wright who started a website about the draft. Looks like he read ESPN's mock drafts and pretty much copied them. Anyone can start a website and post who they think will be a good prospect with pro's and con's. Not for nothing but I would rather read and rely on scout.com or Mike Mayock / Charles Davis at NFL.com, then just another bozo who has no credentials to be a draft scout.
  18. Mike Mayock stated that Johnson would blow up the combine with his numbers and teams will fall in love with him,but like someone stated earlier the guy lacks passion and takes way to many plays off. I'll take a football player over a workout warrior any day. Mike Mayock has moved Robert Ayers up in the draft to his #1 DE and #12 out of the top 20 players. http://www.nfl.com/draft/story?id=09000d5d...mp;confirm=true Analysis: Positives: Powerfully built athlete. ... Good lower-body strength to hold up at the point of attack. ... Flashes the ability to anchor and split double-team blocking off the edge. ... Good initial hand punch to stun the offensive tackle. ... Flashes some upfield burst to challenge wide and has good lateral quickness to redirect to the inside. ... Good use of hands to prevent tackles from latching on and steering him away from the plays. ... Varies his speed off the edge and can surprise blockers with his suddenness. ... Can close with authority, flashing explosiveness. ... Versatile defender with experience at tackle and end. ... Developed into a team leader as a senior. ... Could be an ascending player who is just beginning to scratch the surface of his talent. Negatives: Lacks an elite first step or the straight-line speed to be true edge rusher. ... Relies more on varying his speed off the snap and strength at the point of attack, rather than pure athleticism to make plays. ... Moved around a lot in this defense and was allowed to exploit mismatches. ... Likes to tackle high and can allow stronger ballcarriers to escape his grasp. ... Can be a bit of a showboat, which could lead to penalties in the NFL. ... Stepped up his play significantly as a senior and evaluators will ponder whether he was a one-year wonder motivated by the big NFL payday. 19. It just goes to show that everyone has their own opinion on everyone, I suppose Cutler getting to the pro bowl was over rated. Anyway, In regards to Rex Ryan, didn't the guy inherit a great defense from Mike Nolan in 06, who in turn inherited a great defense from Marvin Lewis, both Nolan and Ryan were trained by Marvin Lewis. Lewis built that super bowl defense for the Ravens. The Ravens have had some amazing talent on that defense over the last 8 years. Wonder if the next DC will be as good as Ryan,Nolan or Lewis. Since Brett Farve retired in NY and no really good back up FA brought in as of yet, I'll bet Ryan will be wishing he had Cutler "trying to throw a strawberry thru a battleship" on the Jets, whatever the heck that means.
  20. Its been noted many times that he doesn't have Vernon Davis speed, but would you mind posting a link to the thread that states he isn't a good route runner, or is that just your opinion? If the latter would you mind stating which game he failed to run the routes properly. The guys is a top 15 pick and will start for whichever team selects him. I'm hearing Atlanta wants to move up to grab him, just a rumor so I can't support that statement. But don't be surprised if he get taken before the 11th pick. I would think more then Just the Bills would like a player similar to Jason Witten.
  21. Jay Cutler was one of Mike Mayock's picks out of Vanderbuilt and my take is that Kiper can't wait to see Cutler fail so he can say " I told you so" like the baby he is.The kid was named SEC player of the year,at Vandy! In his senior year at Vanderbilt they nearly upset the 13th-ranked Gators before falling 49–42 in the second overtime. Reflecting on Cutler's college career, former Denver Broncos safety John Lynch said, "If this guy can take a bunch of future doctors and lawyers and had them competing against the Florida Gators, this guy is a stud. Judy Battista (2006-12-31). "With Eye on Playoffs, Broncos Turn to Cutler". New York Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/12/31/sports/f...amp;oref=slogin. Retrieved on 2006-12-31. Cutler is a gunslinger type like Brett Farve, ranked in the top 5-10 current QB's,so Kiper is an idiot! If Josh McDaniels trades Cutler away he is the bigger Idiot. It wasn't Cutler that made the Bronco's so lousy,it was their horrific defense. Personally I think Cassel will fail at Kansas City, the O line is no where near as good as the Patriots,so it should be fun watching Cassel get slammed to the ground every 5 drop backs, welcome to Trent Greens world of major concussions. I think both Kiper and McShay read reports from the NFL scouts and post a variation of opinions, both are full of hyperbole and cliches, take note that both the ESPN nerds have Aaron Maybin as the 10th 11th ranked player and yet Mayock says his combine workout was horrid at 15 lbs heavier and is most likely a 2nd round player now. It will be interesting to see where he is drafted and what he develops into in the NFL.
  22. Chase Coffman TE Missouri 6-6 244 2-3 injury 4.83 40 Ranked the # 59th overall player by NFLDraftscout.com http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospec...mp;start_row=51 Given a second-round grade last year by the NFL Advisory Committee and blessed with a combination of size, route-running and soft hands to emerge as an immediate NFL contributor, Coffman ranks as one of the elite pass-catchers of the 2009 draft. The 2008 Mackey Award winner finished with better production in just his senior campaign (90 receptions for 987 yards and 10 touchdowns) than some of his top-ranked competition enjoyed over their entire career. Despite his eye-popping production, Coffman isn't a player without warts. His already questionable speed has been lessened the past two years due to repeated foot injuries, including the broken toe that could keep him sidelined through the Combine. Analysis Positives: Rare size potential for the position. Athletic enough to line up in a variety of positions, including split out wide, in motion or along the line of scrimmage. Good initial quickness off the snap. Has the lateral agility to avoid the jam at the line and get a clean release into his route. Uses his hands well in this area to break free from defenders when initially challenged. Good lateral quickness and body control to gain separation from defenders. Good balance and body control to make the acrobatic reception with defenders draped over him. Can make the tough catch in traffic and looks to get upfield to gain extra yardage. Reliable hands. Generally looks the ball into his hands to make the secure reception, but will trap the ball against his body when he anticipates a big hit. More physical as a blocker than you'd expect for a tight end split wide as often as he is. Provides a good initial jolt to the defender when blocking and gives good effort to sustain his blocks. Emerged as a standout as a true freshman. Good bloodlines. Father, Paul Coffman, was an NFL tight end for 10 years. Negatives: Only marginal straight-line speed. Not a true deep seam threat. Flashes the physicality and toughness scouts want in a downfield blocker, but rarely blocks from a traditional three-point stance. Legitimate durability concerns following repeated foot injuries the past two seasons. Struggled for much of his senior season with turf toe and broke the fifth metatarsal in his left bone on the final play of the Alama Bowl. Played through recurring bone spurs as a junior that eventually resulted in corrective surgery in the offseason. Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma State 6-6 263 1-2 same 4.80 40 almost 20lbs heavier and slightly faster, Coffman can't block anywhere near the level of BP right now so he would be limited to passing plays where he doesn't need to block, don't the bills already have enough of these types of TE's?
  23. Excuse me, but don't the Bills already have a TE under development in Derek Fine? Why draft another player to have him take a year or two or more to develop? The bills need a player who can step in and make an immediate impact. Brandon Pettigrew continues to get my vote, irregardless of his 40 yard time. This guy won't get Edwards killed when he needs to stay in to block on pass plays, will do the job when Lynch and Jackson need a hole opened and can catch everything thrown to him. from ProFootBall Weekly http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/The+W...+It/default.htm Feb. 26, 2009 By Matt Sohn Bills to play waiting game for TE upgrade For the second consecutive offseason, tight end looms among the Bills’ most significant areas of need. After skimping on the position a year ago, the Bills can ill afford to ignore the deficiency again. But fans looking for the situation to be remedied soon after the commencement of free agency on Friday will be disappointed. Considering the Bills won’t be able to pry franchised TE Bo Scaife away from Tennessee or restricted TE Owen Daniels from Houston, Eagles perpetual injury risk L.J. Smith appears to be the only legitimate downfield threat in the veteran ranks, and his health problems render him a very dubious option. The draft, however, could provide an answer. The only first-round-caliber tight end is Oklahoma State’s Brandon Pettigrew, but his questionable vertical speed could keep the Bills from investing the 11th overall pick in him. That shouldn't be a problem considering Florida's Cornelius Ingram, Rice's James Casey and Missouri's Chase Coffman — the No. 2, 3 and 4 tight ends in Pro Football Weekly's 2009 Draft Guide — are a trio of accomplished pass catchers ripe for the picking in the second and third rounds. All three represent an upgrade over last year's starter, Robert Royal. Although Buffalo's difficulty opening consistent holes for its running backs in 2008 makes quality run-blocking a valued trait in prospective tight ends, we hear that the team is prioritizing pass-catching ability. Just to give you guys a hint at what can happen when you all caught up in speed and potential, look at Vernon Davis of the 49ers.They drafted him to be another Antonio Gates and the guy isn't even close...
  24. Mike Mayock has Pettigrew the #1 TE and has him rated as the #8 best player overall in the draft, and states he is "old school" just like the Cowboys Jason Witten, man that statement says it all to me. Can the Bills use a TE like Jason Witten, I'd say, heck yeah! I watched the guy in the combine, senior bowl and the OSU bowl game, he caught everything thrown close to him,he will start immediately in the NFL. all the other TE's in the draft will need time to develop. only TE to get a 5 star grade in the NFL draft from scout.com http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&amp...056&yr=2009 Pettigrew is a big, physical tight end who can dominate an opponent at the line of scrimmage and in the open field. He has prototypical size and is a tremendous athlete. He’s quick off the line, moves well laterally and uses his strength and hands to his advantage in blocking situations. He provides a quarterback with confidence as he sets up nicely in an open area and flashes strong, reliable hands. - Chris Steuber, Scout.com Mike Mayock's top 20 players for the 2009 NFL Draft http://www.nfl.com/draft/story?id=09000d5d...mp;confirm=true Rk Player Pos. 25. Like I posted in another thread: I hope the bills don't take Maybin expecting him to be anything but an OLB, the guy was 234 in collage and went up to 249 for the combine and stunk it up at a 15 LB heavier weight, the guy ran a 4.89. Mayock stating the heavier weight really hurt him and may drop him out of the first round,he was horrid in the 3 cone drill. Watch path to the draft on NFL network Scout.com has him as the 27th rated player Maybin is a playmaking defender who lacks the size necessary to be an every down DE, but he could become a tremendous force as a 3-4 OLB. He has a great frame, but has to add to add bulk to compete at the next level. He has a quick first step, uses his speed to his advantage and is able to harass the quarterback by using his long wingspan against a tackle. He moves well laterally and changes direction smoothly. - Chris Steuber, Scout.com http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&amp...900&yr=2009 Just to give you some insight, Aaron Curry ran a 4.56 40 Maybin really had only one good year (one year wonder) at Penn st and could be a huge bust Of course ESPN has Maybin at the 11th pick Mcshay and Kiper #10. So we will see who really knows players and who doesn't
