  1. With Crabtree not running the 40 yard dash leaves him out of Oaklands draft, Al Davis loves the speed and will pass on him #1 Lions-QB Stafford #2 Rams-OT #3 Chiefs-LB Curry #4 Seahawks-OT #5 Browns- DE/LB Orakpo #6 Bengals-DT Raji #7 Raiders- WR Maclin/Maclin #8 Jags-OT/WR Harvin or Heyward-Bay #9 Packers-CB Jenkins #10 49ers-OT 3 teams clearly will want a WR,but do any of those take Crabtree with his non 40 time and foot problem? I think both Sanchez and Crabtree could easily fall to Buffalo Both Crabtree and Sanchez are rated as "franchise" players but neither will make a huge impact in 09 IMO. Crabtree will need to learn all the WR routes and hot reads and Sanchez will learn to read defenses. In 2010 though, both could really develop into superstars. Just as TO is making his exit, Crabtree could be another Jerry Rice for buffalo. Sanchez, given time like Cincy did with Carson Palmer could easily develop into another Palmer. The NFL scouts have him rated as good,if not better then Stafford and some say his skill set could make him the best in this years draft. As was brought up by several posters, think of the trade value and extra picks the Bills could get if either of these two fall to Buffalo, but then I'd draft Crabtree just to drive Bilicheat nuts trying to cover Evans,TO and Crabtree. This years WR class could be one of the best ever,so many really good WR's will be drafted in round one 4-5,unlike last year where no WR was drafted in the first round. I'm wondering where all the Edwards haters are right now ? Those that would say take Sanchez and dump Edwards,or is everyone totally positive that Edwards is the Franchise QB that will lead Buffalo to the SB ??
  2. The thing with Al Davis is the guy loves speed, its why I think he will draft Jermey Maclin who ran a 4.43 at the combine or maybe even Percy Harvin who ran a 4.38,whereas Crabtree didn't even run a 40 because of a foot injury. I doubt Davis will take a player without really knowing what his 40 is. I doubt several teams will take that gamble and take a player without knowing his 40 time, its why i made this post
  3. The mere fact that he visited the Bills means they have a solid interest in him, it is a big need position for Buffalo. I really like the guy from what I'm reading about him, Mike Mayock stated he is old school and very similar to Jason whitten. Height: 6-6 | Weight: 263 | Position:TE | College: Oklahoma State Regarded by many as the most complete tight end in the 2009 NFL Draft, Pettigrew has not only proven to be a clutch short-area receiver, but an outstanding blocker. A physical open-field runner, he has gained more than 40 percent of his yardage after the catch. He has also shown his pedigree as a pass catcher, becoming the first tight end in school history to amass more than 100 receptions (112) in a career. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/517620
  4. The Bills should primarily be concerned about keeping opposing pass rushers off Edwards and a really good blocking TE will certainly help that situation, its why I like Pettigrew.
  5. Crabtree could be that guy on the other side of Lee Evans for the next 6 years, like Boldin and Fitz in Ariz, TO is most likely history after this season anyway. Sanchez could be a backup to Edwards who seems to be made of glass and who knows how many games he will actually play in this season with another makeshift O line and no decent blocking TE. If the O line can jell and Edwards can stay upright then perhaps use Sanchez as trade bait and get 2 #1 picks or more from a desperate team in need of a starting QB. Or do the Bills go after the # 59th rated player to fill a need, like they did with DW
  6. The guy thinks he is Michael Strahan and doesn't need to show up until Sept and games start. Make him happy and ship him out IMO.
  7. First, almost every team in the NFL has a good tight end, a few have super stars at the position. I didn't say the Bills need a superstar. I stated they need a complete TE,one that can catch and block. Fine is a decent receiver but a lousy blocker, the rest are h-backs. so yea, the Bills need a complete tight end. Second, Pettigrew is an instant starter,he dominated by blocking some of the so called great pass rushers in this years draft. He will step in and offer the Bills something they have almost never had, a really strong blocker and a receiver that can actually catch everything thrown his way. The last TE the Bills had that was this good at blocking was Pete Metzelaars. The Bills could have had Tony G last season but he turned them down and stayed with KC. Tony Scheffler is currently on the market if the bills want to pursue a trade with Denver. the reason Scheffler is even on the market is because he is more of the receiving then blocking TE, but he would fill the role as the better receiver then Fine. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/03/22/...block/#comments
  8. While I agree that the Bills do need a pass rushing DE to replace Kelsay. However, I don't agree that it is their most pressing need. If Schobel is fully recovered and is healthy the bills will field a decent pass rush this season. Besides, Its doubtful that any player drafted at DE will step right in and be the monster pass rusher everyone wants, it usually takes a few years to develop pro skills to be a complete DE. Looking back at last year and the stats for 08,the bills were much worse on offense then defense. The Bills released their starting TE and Fine is not gonna cut it as the starter. The three tight ends returning on the Bills’ roster combined for just 25 receptions last season. The bills need a complete TE, a good blocker and a good receiver and this position is not a luxury, its a necessity! A really good TE will only add another dimension to the Bills passing offense,it will also be a huge help if they can block at the NFL level. Keeping Trent Edwards on his feet should be the Bills highest priority this season, a good blocking TE will help immensely! I see only 2 choices for the Bills, either trade for Tony Gonzalez, Tony Scheffler, (both seem to be had by trade right now although Tony G turned down a trade to Buffalo last season),or draft Brandon Pettigrew. The latter gets my vote! http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&amp...49056&fhn=1
  9. no link ? Which is a really stupid statement to say afterward, when you have your coach telling before hand that he WOULD NOT run routes or return kicks. Why would they ask to see him run routes if they had already been told he wouldn't, obviously none did.
  10. You guys all seem to think that these players works as islands and are not inter connected with each other. The real problem last year was Denny and his inability to generate enough pass rush to stop opposing teams from doubling Kelsey. If there was a TE or RB to help chip the DE who do you think they were chipping against,It sure wasn't Denny. So with a healthy Schobel in there, Kelsey should look lots better then he did last year. What sucks about the Tampa 2 defense is that the only players that are supposed to rush the passer are the down linemen, the whole design is to not send dogs or blitezs and just rush with the front four. Everyone is screaming for a pass rusher in the draft this year. If the Bills are really that desperate for a pass rusher, then why not offer Jason Taylor a one year deal like they did with TO. If completly healthy the guy would be an outright terror teamed with Schobel on the other side.
  11. I just don't think this current coaching staff understands how important a good center is, the 90 Bills were anchored by Kent Hull and he really helped make those teams great.
  12. What makes a muskrat guard his musk!.... courage!
  13. The NFL network was reporting that his coach told 28 NFL scouts at his pro day that he WOULD NOT be running routes or returning punts and the scouts were upset about it. All he did was throw at his pro day and they didn't need to be there for that, they saw him throw at the senior bowl and combine. The sole reason the scouts came to his pro day was to watch the guy run routes to see how he would perform as a WR. Basically stating he wants to be drafted as a QB rather then a WR or KR. Mayock reported that this might push him back into later rounds. Funny that he goes to NE to run routes and return kicks for them.
  14. An interesting article from PFW that I remember reading a few weeks ago: http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFL/A...WHI/default.htm While the nationwide recession has affected all 32 teams, the Bills have the added handicap of having been cash-strapped even before the economy went south. There’s a pervasive feeling throughout the league that there will be fewer big-buck, blockbuster deals in the upcoming free-agency period than we’re accustomed to seeing, and Buffalo could find it particularly difficult to execute its desired fortifications. At least some of that reality can be traced to decisions of prior years that have since backfired. Take the offensive line, for example. For a club that historically has been loath to dish out top dollar to outside veteran free agents, the Bills’ heavy investments in OLG Derrick Dockery ($49 million) and ORT Langston Walker ($25 million) in the ’07 offseason stood as bold deviations from their previously established mantra. Yet neither has approached his contract value, and the team’s long-term financial commitment to them hampers their maneuverability going forward. A similar situation exists on the defensive line, where DEs Aaron Schobel and Chris Kelsay are the owners of contracts worth a combined $74 million, with Kelsay’s running through the 2010 season and Schobel’s not expiring until 2013. Kelsay’s impact since inking his deal in ’07 has been nothing more than solid, whereas the most telling conclusion about Schobel’s contribution can be found in unheralded backup Ryan Denney’s superior play when he replaced Schobel in the lineup for a stubborn foot injury that cost Schobel the second half of last season.
  15. Why on earth did they pay him that much, someone enlighten me pls
  16. Tell that to Hank Aaron
  17. The problem with older players who have hit or are near that proverbial wall is that they "think" that they can still do the same things they did when they were younger and don't want to take less money.I'd pass on him as safety is not a big need atm. On another note, I just love the current state of the cowboys ,Jerry Jones keeps bringing in coaches like Bill Parcells so he can pick their brain. His desire is to be self sufficient in picking players in free agency and the draft reminds me of Al Davis of the NFC East.
  18. Considering Peters hold out from last year had him playing poorly all season, I highly doubt the Bills will want to go through another hold out again. Then looking at his plays from last season and sacks allowed, I just don't see Buffalo giving in to his demands and making him the highest paid tackle in the NFL. My take is, they trade the guy away just before or during the draft, otherwise what is to stop him from holding out again, and again the very next time he thinks he is underpaid.
  19. The Bills came out and stated recently that the O line didn't give Edwards the time he needed to get the ball down the field most games. It really was dependent on what team he was playing against. Go back and watch the game against the Charger's, where they never got near him. Edwards was able to find a rhythm and spread the ball around very well. On the other hand, teams like the Jets that were able to collapse the pocket quickly and gave Edwards fits, again, go back and watch that NYJ at Bills game where Kris Jenkins is after Edwards in under 3 seconds. The Bills tried to triple him and still didn't slow him down. Anyone would would be skiddish in those kind of situations. Payton Manning is the least sacked QB the last 5 years, when teams beat the Colts its usually because they are able to get into Manning's face and disrupt his throwing and timing.
  20. Do they have a test for human growth hormone, you know the stuff Barry Bonds and most of the baseball players used to bypass the steroid testing. Seems a tad abnormal for a player to bulk up that quickly and then to suddenly go from a 4.89 (combine) to a 4.59 (pro day), again,I'd rather see Buffalo go with Robert Ayers or Tyson Jackson at DE.But then I put more precedence in stopping the run then just rushing the passer.
  21. The Bills still have time to make moves, before and after the draft. Some of the current high priced vets that are out of work will start to get desperate once it gets closer to training camp. DE- Jason Taylor- led the NFL in sacks the last 5 years before last years injury, high priced and yet may take a huge cut to keep playing. Also, Ebenezer Ekuban and a host of others, but not nearly any as good as Taylor if he stays healthy. Jauron doesn't have time for a draft pick to develop into a great pass rusher, which might take 1-3 years. There is no Reggie White - Julius Peppers at #11 so it would make sense to bring in Taylor like they did Owens, a 1-2 year contract. OLB Cato June - Derrick Brooks OG Mike Goff- Kendal Simmons- RB -Warrick Dunn- Deshaun Foster TE- draft only one tight end really worthy of a 1st round pick and that's Brandon Pettigrew! If your O line isn't the best and you want to make certain your QB will stay upright throughout the game, you need a really good blocking TE.
  22. He had a horrid combine workout and ran kinda slow compared to his playing weight at 234,ran 4.89 at the combine. His weight now at his pro day was 252 and he ran 4.59 and 4.63 forty-yard dash times. This clearly puts him back into the bottom of the first round,it had looked liked he was slipping to the second round with that combine workout. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...NFL&id=5177 Still, I'm hoping the Bills pass on this guy simply because he only had one good year at Penn St and could be a huge bust, even if they plan on using him as an OLB.
  23. Edited OMG don't tease me,the #2 offensive scheme in the NFL last year, in Buffalo...with Cutler-Owens-Evans-Lynch and Shanahan coaching, could end up better offensively then the Kelly- Reed-Thomas era. Seriously, plug Lynch in that Bronco's cut blocking running style with Fred Jackson behind him....holy cow
  24. Like I said, get a grip Thinking the Bills are in talks with the Bronco's in trades for Cutler is just plain silly
