  1. Trade him, I'm tired of reading about him. Dunno why the front office thinks he will play anywhere near his potential while still in Buffalo.
  2. As I mentioned in other threads, Plaxico Burress is going to Jail no question about it,the only factor remaining is for how long. That Felony gun possession charge carries a mandatory 3 year jail sentence, if Plax is lucky he somehow might get a reduced sentence to one year...maybe. The fact the NY Giants released him indicates to me that he will not get a reduced sentence. What is interesting is,even if you have a NY State pistol permit your not allowed to carry inside NY city unless you get a special permit, which is rare.
  3. If he did actually test positive for drugs it means he already has one strike against him in the NFL,next step is a 3 game suspension and 3rd strike is a one year suspension.
  4. You seem to forget that the latest Bilicheat coaches have all gone on to failure...and also he was a failure in his first head coach gig. Josh McDaniels might be a genius, but to this point he has shown me he is by far the most immature and foolish head coach I have seen in years. I understand he is an ex OC but that team needed defensive upgrading far more more then the offense did. The Bronco's had the #3 offense in the NFL and a pro bowl QB that threw for 4k yards...what a freaking moron to let him get away. Overall I see Denver in ruins for the next 5 years
  5. Sanchez moved up on many boards after his USC pro day, lots now have him ahead of Stafford. Mike Mayock has stated he thinks Sanchez might end up being the best of this years QB class. If Sanchez is there at #11 I'd hope the Bills take him and trade him or trade that pick for more picks, clearly the Redskins went after Cutler so they are not happy with Jason Campbell. on another note, I'd think that Denver would be better off just taking Freeman with the 12th pick
  6. My take is Detroit needs a QB the most and have been looking at Stafford with that #1 pick and suddenly a pro bowl QB becomes available in Cutler, so the Lions turn their sights to Cutler. The Last thing the Bears want is another Farve type gunslinger of know quality who has been broken in properly going to a division rival. That might just be the reason the bears gave up so much, but then what price would you pay for a young Brett Farve? To me Denver was absolutely crazy to let let Cutler walk away considering they have been trying to find a replacement for John Elway since he retired, and they finally find a good young QB and then let him go... simply stupid IMO The Bears do have a good young TE in Greg Olsen and WR/KR in Devin Hester, but yea, now they need to go after a WR with that 2nd pick now that they signed Orlando Pace for the line.
  7. Good point, and... Now,what happens after he fails 3 NFL drug tests if he is not bright or strong willed enough to stay off the weed for a few months? Just because Bruce Smith and Warren Sap can put it behind them doesn't mean that others can, The Bills were lucky Travis Henry didn't implode until after he left Buffalo. Ricky Williams- Lawrence Phillips-Quincy Carter- Natrone Means ring any bells ?
  8. This is why I mentioned that Trent really needs to step up, Payton Manning calls his own plays. Manning has so much power in Indy that the coaching staff would call a FG and Manning would order the FG unit off the field and resume the offense. Schonert called some ok games, but he called constant shotgun passing plays, most of which put Trent behind the 8 ball most of the time. If they ran to setup the pass like Baltimore and Atlanta did and used play action more, then opposing defenses wouldn't be able to key on the pass all the time. So yea, Buffalo's offense will still be very limited by the coaching staff no matter who they put on the field,JMO
  9. FIRST ROUND PROSPECTS 1. Brandon Pettigrew, Oklahoma State: Pettigrew is, by light-years, the most complete tight end prospect available this year, and perhaps in recent memory. Question his receiving numbers all you want, but the undeniable truth is that if the Bills are ever going to think that a tight end is perfect for their offense, this guy is it. He's ready to contribute to a winning organization right away, and he's still got solid upside as well. THIRD ROUND PROSPECTS 2. Chase Coffman, Missouri: They say this year's tight end class is deep. I disagree. There are a lot of players available; very few of them fit what the Bills traditionally look for at the position. One one-dimensional guy with room to grow is Chase Coffman, owner of the best set of hands in the draft. His hands make him coveted; his size and blocking potential put him second on my list, but only as a third-round prospect. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2009/3/30/...-nfl-draft-s-ti
  10. Numbers don't really mean much when your a TE on a predominant running team, what most scouts agree on is that Pettigrew is more NFL ready at this point then other TE's because he is already a dominate blocker and easily handled some of this years premier pass rushers at the senior bowl. The other TE's in this years draft may turn out to be as good as Pettigrew in blocking at some point, who knows how many years it will take for them to get there,if ever. Anyone who has watched Pettigrew play will know that the guy also catches everything thrown his way. I doubt Pettigrew will make it to round two, as stated eariler if he makes it to Philly's pick at #21 I'll be surprised,he is just to good a player to be over looked that much. Kiper pick: Bills #11 -Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State -- Pettigrew remains the No. 1 tight end on the board and would be a boost to the Buffalo passing attack. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/ins...%3fid%3d3972427 Pettigrew is more NFL-ready than most recent collegiate tight ends. A nagging ankle injury robbed him of the opportunity of breaking out as a senior, but the natural hands, rare athleticism and brute strength demonstrated throughout his career are the traits scouts look for in a complete tight end. Had an arm span of 34 7/8 inches and a hand span of 10 3/4 inches at the combine. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/brando...le-tab-overview
  11. This is where I'm hoping that Trent Edwards really steps up! The Stanford grad should know the difference between a bonehead play call and one that will work by now. If Schonert starts calling moronic plays like he did in that Jets game, where Lynch is tearing them a new one and just made a first down rushing and all it would take is another run or two to end the game... don't freaking roll out!!! Edwards needs to say to himself WTH is this and audible out of it,or simply call something different.
  12. First, I'd have to say the OC was hamstrung with limitations of what the offense could do,meaning the offensive line and WR's. During some games where the O line blocked well and gave Edwards time,he was able to execute the offense as called fairly well.Usually against teams that had very poor defenses, conversely they played poorly against better defenses and better D lines. There were games where Edwards didn't have time to throw deep or if he did have time but coverages were so good that he was forced to dump the ball to the backs more then the OC wanted. Turk Schonert even came out and admitted that the Bills simply didn't have anyone who could go opposite Lee Evans and help take coverages away from him to help with the deep passing routes. Another deep threat besides Evans would also help Trent Edwards by opening up the offense more, thus giving them more passing options. So just having TO on the team means that opposing defenses can't double / triple cover Lee Evans anymore. Now throw in a really good TE (Tony G- Pettigrew- Tony S) into the mix and you suddenly have a very viable passing offense. If the Bills can solidify the O line before the season starts they might just have a real chance to win some games.
  13. Interesting note that Charlie Casserly ex GM and now with the NFL network thinks Shawn Nelson is a better blocker then Pettigrew. Although Mike Mayock and Charles Davis, the two scouts and draft guru's for NFL network both have Pettigrew in the top 10 best players in the draft. link to Nelson http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&amp...944&yr=2009 Scout.com rates Pettigrew as the only 5 star TE in the draft, Pettigrew will most likely be taken by Atlanta at #24 and if he actually gets to Philly at #28,they will take him no question
  14. I would strongly disagree here, both Lynch and Jackson are huge receiving threats out of the backfield. Furthermore I think they should allow both Jackson and Lynch to play "slot" receiver, that's how good both are. BTW Lynch was noted to be a really good RB / receiver drafted out of Cal. Last season Lynch had 47 receptions for 300 yds,not what I would call "stone hands".Those 47 receptions put him 3rd on the team behind Lee Evans 63 and Josh Reed with 56.
  15. You don't get "ball control" by passing out of the shotgun formation. In Chicago Jauron had a run first offense with Anthony Thomas and it worked. Here in Buffalo he has let Schonert do as he pleases and so to compete with McDaniels in NE and Schottenheimer in NY, the bills constantly threw the ball even with JP in there and even against constant dime coverages.
  16. Jeez, now they want to add Jason Taylor to help their pass rush per rotoworld: The Patriots are reportedly the first choice of free agent DE Jason Taylor. "Great player," owner Robert Kraft said at the owners meetings. "I'm sure that can happen if he wants it." Coach Bill Belichick has long been an admirer, and the Pats could offer a legit shot at contention while picking up a much-needed pass rushing presence. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playernew...amp;line=141761 Man, I hope they can't afford to pick him up, but reading between the lines it looks like IF he really wants to play for NE they will structure a contract that allows him to go to there. According to yahoo sports Taylor's agent has been in touch with several teams,I'm really hoping the Bills are one of them.Sign the guy to a 1 year contract IF he is fully healthy, like they did with TO only with incentives, and it will solve the pass rusher problem. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/around_th...?urn=nfl,150318
  17. Now if only the Bills had a solid veteran offensive line to give Edwards time to throw On another note it looks as though the Patriots will sign Jason Taylor, gnite trent
  18. That might have been his "philosophy" in Chicago but it sure isn't even close in Buffalo, haven't you been watching the games? All the Bills did last season is throw the ball out of the shotgun formation and pass even when they should clearly run the ball. They didn't start using "play action" passing until the Cleveland game. The OC, Turk Schonert had his head up his backside most of the season for calling deep passing plays when the bills O line couldn't give Edwards time to throw. For calling Evans number repeatedly even though Evans was double and triple covered, its why Edwards was always dumping the ball off to Lynch and Jackson.
  19. Steve Fairchild studied under Mike Martz in St Louis for 3 years before he came to Buffalo to be the OC for the Bills, Turk Schonert was the QB coach under Fairchild so when Fairchild left for Colorado last season Schonert was promoted and took over as OC. Didn't you notice that the Bills run the same get your QB killed scheme as the Rams Martz has been fired in St Louis, Detroit, and now SF but his legacy lives on in Buffalo. I suppose it seemed like a good Idea to try and bring a form of the "greatest show on turf" to Buffalo which hasn't seen a high scoring offense since the Jim Kelly K-gun era. What so many simply don't understand is, that it wasn't just Kurt Warner and the amazing receivers in Issac Bruce and Tory Holt, nor was it that awesome O line with Orlando Pace and Co. What really made that Mike Martz offense so good was Marshall Faulk and the running / pass receiving threat he gave them. I suppose you could say the same thing with that 90's Buffalo team,It wasn't just Kelly,Reed, Kent Hull et al. what helped make them so great was running / pass receiving threat of Thurman Thomas. This current Bills team as some of the right pieces to become that high powered offense they want to become. They have some good receivers with Owens, Evans and Reed, they have really good RB's in Lynch and Jackson, what they are currently lacking is a blocking TE like Metzalaars and an O line that will give Edwards time to throw. Also, I don't see anyone even close to Kent Hulls ability on the roster.
  20. The defense plays a Tampa 2,which is a bend but don't break defense. Its supposed to allow moderate run gains but not give up the big play, tell that to Tom Brady and Randy moss. As much as everyone is crying for a pass rusher in this years draft I'd be happier with a real run stuffer.Someone big enough to collapse the pocket from the outside and still be big enough to stop the run when needed. As for the offense, tricky dick handed it over to a newbie, Turk Schonert. He made some good calls and some really horrific calls to lose games. The problem doesn't lie with Schonert though because he should improve, Its the basic offensive scheme that stinks. The Tampa 2 defense and the Martz passing offense are both outdated schemes and will finally die once Jauron is fired.
  21. Maybin, pls no!While I like the Pettigrew pick, some think its a bit of a reach at #11. although the bills took the 59th rated player when they took Whitner and others have him as the 8th best player in the draft. If Sanchez is still on the board at #11, I just don't see how Buffalo can not trade back with another team for more picks,or even keep him. That prospect should give the Bills some serious head scratching to do.
  22. I seriously would be surprised considering Cleve-Cincy-Jac-SF all have ex defensive coordinators as the HC and are currently drooling all over the guy,he won't make it out of the top ten
  23. Both Atlanta and Philly want Pettigrew so watch out for either of those teams moving up to grab him if needed. From what I hear Philly actually covets the guy and will do whatever it takes to get him.
  24. Rotoworld states he is a back up and scout.com says he is the starter at SLB Bills signed restricted free agent OLB Keith Ellison to a one-year, $1.01 million contract. Ellison, 25, has started 30 games in his three-year career. He doesn't play the run well, however, and is much better suited for a nickel linebacker role. He figures to open the season as a backup at both the SAM and WILL. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playernews.aspx?sport=NFL Buffalo Bills LB Keith Ellison has signed his restricted free agent tender offer, Scout.com has confirmed. Ellison was tendered at his original draft round (sixth) level at $1.01 million. Ellison is penciled in as the starter at SLB this season. "He’s done a really nice job for us whenever he’s stepped in and played. He’s very smart, very athletic, a tough guy, a great teammate. So we’re OK," head coach Dick Jauron said this week about Ellison. http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&amp...61909&fhn=1
  25. The thing is, Scheffler gives the Bills that deep middle TE receiving threat that Jauron mentioned that the team needs. I'd be be thinking more of a great blocker then receiver at this point because the Bills don't have a dominating blocking TE atm. They really need to keep Edwards from getting killed.
