  1. I'm hoping that the Bills take either Robert Ayers or Tyson Jackson IF they go defense. I'd say take the "Rack" but he will be gone by 11th pick most certainly. I'm really fed up with the Bills inability to stop the run. Maybin scares me with his recent weight gains, 25 lbs of muscle in 3 months just doesn't sound normal to me. Dunno, maybe its normal to Barry Bonds though. 2. I don't know who actually made those comments so I won't put to much into them, I know Mike Mayock and his ability to see who has the potential to make an impact and who doesn't. So far Mayock has put his rep on the line for various players and he hasn't disappointed yet. He was touting guys like Jay Cutler and Joe Flacco long before Mel Kiper and Tod McShay, the so called ESPN draft guru's. This draft Mike Mayock has stated that Robert Ayers will be the best defensive player out of this years draft in 3 years. He was talking about Ayers before most even had them on their mock drafts, and if they did it was in the second or third round. Now look, and most have him in the top 15 players. PFW just hasn't been nearly the same since Joel Buschbaum has gone IMO.
  3. The guy is on the roster and until he leaves in some fashion its up to the HC to put the best spin on it he can. Jauron has nothing to do with Jason Peters BEFORE he gets to OBD, once he is there all he can do is coach him. Jauron doesn't handle contracts or contract talks. Remember, he has to coach what the front office puts on the field, so all he can do is be optimistic about the future. In other words, I believe he realizes his career and future depend on how the Bills players perform this season. So he is praying like crazy that Peters gets signed and shows up asap.
  4. First, he had Tricky Dick as his last HC who went on to hire Turk "shotgun" Schonert as his Offensive coordinator. You know the guy that was a 10 year back up in the NFL and another 10 years as an assistant coach. The rookie OC who kept calling passing plays even when the receivers were triple covered and no one was open. Even though the RB was tearing the defense a new one, he... just... kept... calling...passing...plays...out...of...the...SHOTGUN! JP played horribly in some games last season, no question, but there are more reasons then his own poor play. Also, he is young enough that if he works hard with film study and gets into the right system he still might develop into a decent QB somewhere. 5. horsehockey, your credibility just went below SKOOBYS... The statement that : "Peters to be traded by Friday" means by Friday... and Friday is here
  6. The thing is Mike Mayock knows football players better then Mel Kiper and all the other "wannabe" draft guru's who get their info from NFL scouts and don't have the ability to break down game tapes. I've been listening to him long enough so that I'd trust his opinion over any other media source. Mike Mayock was saying good things about Robert Ayers months ago when most didn't even know who he was. Robert Ayers or Tyson Jackson get my vote as #11 pick, even Kiper has the Bills taking Ayers in his latest mock draft. I'm so sick of the Bills allowing teams to run all over them year after year, I'd love to see the Bills shut teams running game down. Ya know...run and stop the run.
  7. After hearing this on NFL network "path to the draft", I'd think his stock is falling fast. #4)Everette Brown JR 6'4'' 250-On path to the draft Carlie Casserly called Evertte Brown a one trick pony and wouldn't even take the guy, doesn't play well against the run, doesn't shed well. Wouldn't project the guy as an OLB,as he is to stiff. Also, he played in a rotation at FSU and only played two out of every three series, and a one year starter Charles Davis says he can be a DE and rush the passer if he gets the proper coaching.
  8. OLB or DE, It is so difficult to project a player into a position they have never played because you simply don't know if they can make the transition to it. So everyone looking at DE's and projecting them into OLB's, can they drop back into coverage? Can they drop back into intricate schemes or into a zone coverage? #1)Brian Orakpo- highest rated DE and can play either in 3-4 or 4-3, Mayock thinks he will be better at OLB because he wants to keep him away from hand to hand against 330 LB tackles and because the JR OT from OSU blocked him easily and he struggled with Brandon Pettigrew. Charlie Casserly-thinks he is the best pass rusher in the draft and would use him on the right side as an OLB. Charles Davis -thinks he should be a DE in a 4-3 scheme as a pure pass rusher. #2)Robert Ayers 6'3'' 270 -Mayock says he is another Justin Tuck / Osi Umenyiora and thinks Tenn,Robert Ayers will be the best defensive player in this years draft in 3 years, He dominated Andre Smith when they played Alabama. Can play DE/ DT. #3)Tyson Jackson6'5'' 290 DE, Mayock says he can play DE in either 3-4 or 4-3 or 4-3 DT and he will be gone by the 15th pick #4)Everette Brown JR 6'4'' 250-On path to the draft Carlie Casserly called Evertte Brown a one trick pony and wouldn't even take the guy, doesn't play well against the run, doesn't shed well. Wouldn't project the guy as an OLB,as he is to stiff. Also, he played in a rotation at FSU and only played two out of every three series, and a one year starter Charles Davis says he can be a DE and rush the passer if he gets the proper coaching. #5) Conner Barwin 3rd rounder at DE or offense TE After hearing what Mayock stated about Robert Ayers I feel like he is the safer pick at #11, IF the Bills go for a defensive player or Tyson Jackson to help with stopping the run, which the Bills have struggled with for years.
  9. From Rotoworld.com: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playernews.aspx?sport=NFL ESPN's Michael Smith reports that the Eagles have "engaged in serious discussions" with the Bills about LT Jason Peters. Peters wants a new contract (why he didn't get one before Marcus Stroud is perplexing) and may want out of Buffalo, but it's still extremely difficult to imagine them trading him right now. They have nothing remotely resembling a starting-caliber left tackle behind him. Perhaps the Bills would consider a draft-day trade if Michael Oher fell to them at No. 11.
  10. More then likely Lynch will appeal his suspension and then get it reduced to one or two games. Last season Brandon Marshall had a 3 game suspension and appealed it and had it reduced to one game. In any event, the Bills need to buck up the money for Freddy, He played as well as Marshawn did and should be paid close to him IMO
  11. I would suspect that like Marshall Faulk who went missing a few weeks back and has returned, he is taking some vacation time. I'd imagine he will return the week before the draft, just a guess.
  12. Who mentioned anything about when he was with the lions? He hasn't shown me anything yet as a Cowboy, 10 games in 08, 19 rec 198 yds one TD http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...g.b10c89e4.html
  13. The guy will make an excellent TE or RB or option QB. In college it is usually men against boys and the men win, in the NFL things are pretty equal and running QB's usually don't last the season. Watch what Pat White does this season, I know he is smaller then Tebow, but if some team can work him as QB without getting him killed, then Tebow has a solid chance to excel next season if a team uses him the same as White.
  14. I suppose Bills fans will beat this dead horse until it turns to dust... already posted several times recently #1371442 · Coffman in the 3rd ? But didn't the Bills use a 3rd on Fine last year ? FIRST ROUND PROSPECTS 1. Brandon Pettigrew, Oklahoma State: Pettigrew is, by light-years, the most complete tight end prospect available this year, and perhaps in recent memory. Question his receiving numbers all you want, but the undeniable truth is that if the Bills are ever going to think that a tight end is perfect for their offense, this guy is it. He's ready to contribute to a winning organization right away, and he's still got solid upside as well. THIRD ROUND PROSPECTS 2. Chase Coffman, Missouri: They say this year's tight end class is deep. I disagree. There are a lot of players available; very few of them fit what the Bills traditionally look for at the position. One one-dimensional guy with room to grow is Chase Coffman, owner of the best set of hands in the draft. His hands make him coveted; his size and blocking potential put him second on my list, but only as a third-round prospect. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2009/3/30/...-nfl-draft-s-ti
  15. Aikman went on to say if Roy Williams doesn't pan out this will go down as one of the worst moves ever!!! My take is Romo was making excuses for his poor play at the end of the season when it really counted and TO took the fall for the Cowboys failure, time will tell on this one. This move leaves the Cowboys with one great receiving target and that's Jason Witten.Williams hasn't shown me anything yet.
  16. SKOOBY is that you ?
  17. Few threads on this player already... Kinda scary, he gains 15lbs between the end of college football and the combine and has a absolute horrid combine and then looks like superman at his pro day and runs much faster, again after adding another 5 lbs. He had one great year at Penn St ...so I'll leave it to the real scouts and doctors to figure this one out.
  18. Lets not forget that his agent is one of the biggest dickheads out there and some teams refuse to even draft players when they find out he is their agent. I'm fed up with his agent and his greedy attitude, screw them both I say. and let him sit with no money. He signed a contract, let him honor it He is one of the best players at his position in the NFL when he wants to be, but honestly if the Bills can put someone else into his position for the season I'd say play hardball with the guy and make him sit out and lose money. Make an example of him or others will want to do the same darn thing. The Bills have him locked up for 2 more years and then can franchise him after his contract expires,if the new CBA gets worked out.
  19. At first I thought it was Jauron also, but it wasn't. although he had input into it as did Ralph Wilson,it was Russ Brandon who initially started everything AFTER he received a text from Trent Edwards about TO being released. It really was a good move for the Bills, TO has been one of the top receivers in the NFL the last few years and it will help both Edwards and Lee Evans and the entire passing game. Not to mention season ticket sales went up after he signed.
  20. If the Bills were to pick up Vick he might be a viable wildcat QB...If the Bills wanted to run the wildcat. Also, he would bring all his friends to every game ...clogging up the parking areas and roads, you know his friends at PETA While the Bill are at it why not pick up Adam Pacman Jones, maybe the two could go clubbing with...
  21. To the OP,good point. If the Bronco's had retained Shanahan and gotten some decent defensive help this year they would make it to the playoffs in 09, no question. They had the #3 offense in the NFL and if that defense wasn't so horrid they would have made the playoffs this past season. So the owner (Pat Bowlen) looks at Atlanta and Baltimore and notices what two new coaches achieved in one year and fires the guy who he had stated was his head coach for life in Denver. What a clustermess in Denver now, the one great thing Shanahan did was finally find a decent QB since Elway and Josh McDaniels comes in and gets rid of him, what a fool. Great coaches find a way to build the team around great players Some of you seem to think Denver will be ok in two years, my take is they will be looking for a new head coach in two years, plus a QB. None of Bill Belichick's staff have gone on to have any great success after leaving the Patriots. Charlie Weiss stinks at ND, Mangini fired in NY,now with Cleveland where they fired Romeo Crennel. The thing is, Belichick trained McDaniels for 3 years to call plays for the Patriots,so that gives him credibility to run a complete team, and after this Cutler fiasco he has shown me that he is a complete idiot. I would dearly love to see Ralph Wilson hire Shanahan to run the Buffalo Bills, even with the same DC or a decent replacement DC the Bills could be in the SB in two years or less.JMO
  22. Where there is smoke, there is fire. Bills are still looking at Pettigrew. As expected, Oklahoma St. TE Brandon Pettigrew held an on campus private workout for NFL teams on Friday. Pettigrew, who is still recovering from a hamstring injury suffered last month, ran routes and caught passes during the workout and moved around well. Attending the workout were the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and New York Jets. Other teams interested in Pettigrew decided not to attend because they are satisfied with his game tape. http://atl.scout.com/2/853409.html And to the guy who said the Falcons are not interested in Pettigrew and will draft for defense: A team that is need of a major upgrade at tight end, the Atlanta Falcons, have scheduled Pettigrew for a pre-draft visit for early next week
  23. Let me ask the people who are posting that they still want the Bills to select the guy at #11 a question. IF you had a job interview coming up on a particular date (2-3 months) and you knew it would be worth millions of dollars to you IF you are free of drugs when they test you. You basically have been working 4 to 8 years to get to this point and it is a dream job to almost everyone in the world, to get paid millions of dollars a year to PLAY A GAME!!! So... do you stay clean for a few months and realize your goal, or do you simply not care that what you have worked so hard to achieve could fall apart? He will still make millions a year from being drafted later, but the farther he falls in the draft the more money he loses, particularly in the guaranteed amount. If he doesn't have the willpower to stop doing drugs when he knows he will be tested, what makes you think he will stop while playing in the NFL, where it will certainly be much more painful each week. If it is steroids and he simply pumped up to get a better result at the combine,do you want a steroid baby like Tony Mandarich? Looks like Tarzan and plays like Jane...don't say he looked great in college or senior bowl,he was playing against college pukes
  24. It is the NFL combine... If he tests positive for any banned substance it counts as his first strike AND he will get much more testing throughout the season then a player who doesn't test positive, basically the NFL will be watching him like a hawk. The NFL policy mandates a four-game suspension for a first steroids offense and a year for a second. Unlike its policy for street drugs such as marijuana or cocaine, for which there is no suspension until a second violation, a player who tests positive for steroids or a supplement is suspended for the first positive test. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2741136 According to the NFL's drug policy, a positive test for street drugs, which includes marijuana, puts a player into the initial stage of the NFL's drug program. He's then subject to random testing and subject to a fine or suspension if he tests positive again. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/foot...raji/index.html
  25. Oh sure... he is interviewing at the combine for a multi million dollar job and the higher he is drafted the more money he makes. So he tests positive for a banned substance at his job interview and you guys still want to draft him with one strike against him
