  1. I do, unless the O line coach can pull a miracle outta his backside and the new revamped line plays better then previous years so they can actually move the ball by running and throwing these Bills might have a shot at winning some games. Unfortunately, the reality is... the rookie line coach did a bad job last year with a veteran line!! This year the Bills have an unknown commodity in two rookie guards and a back up free agent center, not to mention Jason Peters is an Eagle, and Langston Walker is playing the toughest position on the line at LT, when he is clearly more suited at right tackle. You would think that looking at the inexperience on that O line that the Bills would go after one of the FA tackles still available, the Lions just snagged one last week so choices are getting smaller. The entire offense is only as good as the line and with so much uncertainty involving that line I honestly don't see the Bills winning more then 3 games this season. Edwards will get knocked out for the season by week 4 and Bills fans will suffer again. The only good thing about the upcoming season is Ralph Wilson might finally break down and hire a real name head coach like Schottenheimer or Shanahan, and that coach might hire an experienced OC and line coach.
  2. Norwood was a sure thing at the 40 or inside that, that is why that 48 yarder in the SB was such a huge gamble. Levy wanted another kicker in to do kickoffs because Norwood's leg was so weak, yet usually so accurate inside the 40
  3. The difference between Dick Jauron and Marty Schottenheimer is that at 12-4 in San Diego, Marty hired Cam Cameron as his OC,who is now with the Ravens and that punishing offensive running game, Wade Phillips was the DC and now HC of the cowboys. Jauron promoted from within the Bills staff and the O line got much worse and the offense had some of the most retarded play calls ever The Jets will surprise people this year with a fearsome defense, but not last. That spot will be held by Jauron and co.
  4. The one thing still remains is whether or not that O line will perform well enough so that the bills can actually run or throw the ball. Don't forget, this is the same front office that thought Dockery was the answer at guard. Not to mention all the other players the Bills have tried on the O line. Shoot it has been a revolving door on that O line for years except for Peters position, oh wait...he is now an Eagle. I'd be excited about this years Bills also If I had even the slightest notion that the O line will play well enough for Edwards to get a ball to TO.
  5. I like Jauron, and think he is a fine person and a good defensive coordinator. His drawback is that he didn't hire an experienced offensive coordinator and line coach to replace the experienced coaches who left, in Jim McNally and Steve Fairchild. I can only think that he wanted to keep the same offense in place and possibly enhance it to some degree. After Last season it was stated that Ralph Wilson wanted changes on the offense and Jauron declined stating he wanted "continuity". It is clear to me that Jauron is thinking of keeping the same offensive system in place might help the young QB's to some degree, so they don't have to learn a new system. In fact he is overlooking the fact that the offensive system the Bills run is not working. It was designed by Mike Martz and it has failed everywhere except St Louis where they had superior players for a few years, even then it died after Faulk left. This year Jauron decided to overhaul the entire offensive line which I can understand, considering on how poorly they played last year, but then it could be because the line coach was a rookie. Thinking "continuity" it really made no sense to completely dismantle the O line and trade away Peters. But hey, If Jauron is thinking he has 3 more years to get the job done then it does make sense, because that is about how long it will take before the two rookies start playing like all pro's, that is, if they develop properly with a line coach that didn't get it done last year. Sorry Bills fans, but I just don't see this team doing very well this season with that line overhaul. What kind of bothers me is when the defensive line coach left Jauron replaced him with a very seasoned line coach and not some rookie, Time will tell.
  6. Bruce Smith wasn't very good his first YEAR!!!! He looked horrid, there was talk he was a wasted draft pick at first,he was over weight and sluggish and nothing like he was in college. 1985 16 games, 13 game starts , 48 tackles to Jim Haslett's 143 tackles he did finish with 6.5 sacks that year and I can recall Hank Bullough constantly yelling at him for something or other.
  7. I'm not taking JP's side here, just go back and look at his Head coaches and QB coaches and how frequently they changed, not many QB's could evolve under those circumstances. Not to mention how he kept getting pulled again and again, that would sap anyone's confidence. How would you like Turk Schonert as your QB coach or offensive coordinator, a 10 year backup holding a clipboard and 10 year assistant coach who never achieved anything himself. Ralph Wilson wanted him fired and replaced after last season. Jauron kept him claiming he wanted "continuity" on the team, what a load of HS. This coaching staff is a QB killer and will be until they are all fired and replaced. Want to see someone have a tough time finding another job, see where Schonert goes after this season.
  8. I went to that SB in Minneapolis and the NFL experience was empty all week until the weekend, even then on the weekend it was still pretty thin compared to Miami, Tampa, Pasadena and Arizona. The warm weather cities will always get big game as nobody wants to get caught in a snow storm on their way to a SB. I treat it as a vacation and enjoyed it for a week. Although I enjoyed Minnesota, I'm fairly certain that most only flew in for the game and then left as soon as it was over.
  9. The world was watching that Jet game because of Farve being in it and watched JP and that roll out touchdown... for the Jets, He might not find a job in the NFL until that game fades in memories.
  10. That is the reason Jauron doesn't like to practice outside, he just knows some team has tasked a satellite to be looking down at what the Bills are running
  11. Hey, if JP doesn't find a team and Trent gets injured and goes on IR, it wouldn't surprise me to see Jauron bring him back to Buffalo.
  12. Dunno if any Bills FO people read these posts but gotta say, scuse me for complaining about not going after Jason Taylor when he was released from the Redskins, apparently they did pursue him according to this story. The Buffalo Bills. The Bills want to win. Now. Whether it’s because owner Ralph Wilson is feeling a Leon Hess-style sense of urgency or whether coach Dick Jauron feels a Rich Kotite-style sense of urgency or a combination of both, the Bills are going all in. And a league source tells us that the Bills made a very aggressive play for defensive end Jason Taylor immediately after Taylor was cut in March by the Redskins. In fact, the Bills were the very first team to pursue Taylor. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/05/19/...ck-destination/ I'm sure most fans like myself are hoping the front office peeps are doing their best but we don't always know whats going on. I"ll stop complaining about the O line for now in the hope that some of those 14 O linemen can get the job done once the footballs start flying in August. Perhaps they can still add an experienced tackle in free agency, considering 7 of those 14 have one year or less experience. 61 Philip, Marvin OL 6-1 307 02/03/1982 1 California 76 Denman, Chris OL 6-7 315 10/07/1983 1 Fresno State 69 Hennessey, Nick OL 6-5 291 07/02/1986 R Colgate 73 Chambers, Kirk OL 6-7 315 03/19/1979 5 Stanford 63 Hangartner, Geoff OL 6-5 301 04/22/1982 5 Texas A&M 79 Scott, Jonathan OL 6-6 318 01/10/1983 3 Texas 66 McKinney, Seth OL 6-3 310 06/12/1979 8 Texas A&M 68 Walker, Langston OL 6-8 366 09/03/1979 8 Cal 71 Bell, Joel OL 6-6 315 07/29/1985 R Furman 62 Rodd, Brandon OL 6-4 305 11/01/1985 1 Arizona State 77 Bell, Demetrius OL 6-5 307 05/03/1984 1 Northwestern State University 60 Butler, Brad OL 6-7 315 09/18/1983 4 Virginia 67 Levitre, Andy OL 6-2 305 05/15/1986 R Oregon State 70 Wood, Eric OL 6-3 310 03/18/1986 R Louisville
  13. Yea but they had to set a record of ZERO and SIXTEEN before the owner finally woke the F*** up, I suppose that is what will NEED to happen with Buffalo
  14. When the Bills went 2-14 a few years in a row the Bills managed to get the #1 overall pick and took Bruce Smith, TBH I'd rather see the Bills be total failures for a few years to get an extraordinary player or two, and... During those bleak 2-14 years before Marv, Kelly and Polian the fans stayed away in doves and the few that did show up wore bags. That bleak attendance woke the old man up so he could hire some new people with some smarts or he would be forced to sell the team. He hired Bill Polian and Bill hired Marv, who hired Ted Marchibroda who then built that amazing offense!!!!! No offense but if it were up to Marv he would have installed the wing T like he did in KC. Every year the Bills go 7-9 and the optimistic freakiziods come outta everywhere and think the Bills are on the way to the SB because of the new free agents or draft picks, and every year they end up whining and crying about the season in some fashion or other because the Bills fall short. Even with TO the Bills can't overcome that offensive line that is in total upheaval, what good is a 6 million receiver if the QB doesn't have time to get the ball to him.
  15. With two rookies and a back up free agent center penciled in as starters, then an unknown starter at RT and an overweight slow left tackle all of whom have to prove they deserve the positions they will be slotted in... I'm not optimistic at all about the chances any RB the Bills have will even get 500 yards rushing. The guy who took Jason Peters from a FA walk on TE to one of the highest paid all pro left tackles in the NFL is retired !!! The Bills replaced him with a now 2nd year line coach, he was a rook himself last year. It is why the line played so badly, even with the size and experience they had on that line they didn't get the job done when they needed to. Gone are the huge experienced lineman that blocked for Marshawn last season, only one starter remains from those 5 and he was moved from a spot he was productive in to the other side, so who really knows what the new line can do!
  16. So you think throwing against a 4-1-6 defense should have worked and won the game? When asked about the reason the Bills didn't run the ball more in that SB, Marv Levy replied "you dance with who brought you" meaning they wanted to run the K-gun / no huddle no matter what the NY Giants were going to do on defense. Which IMO was a huge mistake, I mean c'mon, when you see a 4-1-6 defense why not start running the ball. When the defense changes to stop the run you start throwing again, simple stuff. It wasn't just Kelly that didn't adjust to that NY Giants defense,it was also the coaching staff who failed to make the reads and adjust the offense accordingly, perhaps over confidence played a part because they had beaten the Giants earlier in the season at Giant stadium 17-13.
  17. The secondary wasn't the best, but it was usually good enough, plus Bruce Smith rushing the passer made the secondary better. It was the rest of that defensive line and some of the O line that was the problem IMO
  18. The AFC had John Elway- Dan Marino- Joe Montana at KC with Schottenheimer- Warren Moon so they didn't play against crappy AFC teams. The problems that I noticed were: in that first super bowl with Kelly calling his own plays the Bills simply didn't run Thurman Thomas enough. Parcells and Belichick had that defense in a constant 4-1-6 package with Lawrence Taylor as the only linebacker spying Thurman. Plus the fact that the Bills defense couldn't stop the run when they needed to. That is another reason why I hate the bills current defense, because they are constantly bad against the run year after year. The NYG and retread OJ Anderson just punished the Bills on the ground and kept Kelly on the sidelines. The Bills were 21 point favorites and should have beaten the Giants soundly. I must guess that nobody on the Bills coaching staff watched the Giants beat Joe Montana while shutting down Bill Walsh's vaunted passing attack a few games earlier. Had the Bills used Thurman Thomas more in that first half they would have beaten the spread, JMO. The second SB they faced a very high scoring Redskin passing offense, not to mention that Kelly was sacked and concussed and knocked out of the game, and should have stayed out of it. Besides the fact that Ted Marchibroda was hired to be Indy's head coach while still employed as the OC for the SB left the offensive game plan lacking. Then consider Kelly called his own plays and since he was not in the game... The next two it just seemed the Cowboys were younger, bigger, stronger, faster. The Dallas O line and D line were enormous compared to buffalo's. Again the Bills just couldn't stop Emmitt Smith and the Dallas running game for very long. In summery, the Bills beat some great AFC teams to reach the super bowl and it seemed like they were never fully healthy after those games. They played such tough AFC games it took a severe toll on the teams. Against Denver the O line was so decimated they needed Pete Metzelaars to sub in at tackle because every backup was out injured. One year the NFL decided to make the change from two weeks to only week between the AFC - NFC championship games and Superbowl, it really screwed the Bills because they were so banged up.
  19. If the Bills managed to win 3 super bowls by taping other teams defensive signals and thereby getting an edge against another team, I'd say damn smart move Jauron! I'm sure that everyone's words calling them cheaters is really hurting their feelings Ten years from now all everyone will see is 3 SB wins, the tapes were destroyed by the NFL so there will never be an asterisk or any notes that the Pats cheated in any way.
  20. Every NFL team has injuries, the Patriots lost their starting running backs and were down to their 4th string player and he still managed to rush for 100 yards against the Bills.' The Patriots lost Tom Brady for the season and The Bills were swept by a QB who didn't start one college game, in fact until last season he hadn't started a football game since high school. I'm getting sick up and fed reading that the Bills had injuries, or its lack of talent...the weather was cold...the wind was to strong... Just face facts, the Bills will continue to lose until they hire a coach and coaching staff that knows what they are doing.
  21. Two words... Pat White! One word...Wildcat The Dolphins just got Jason Taylor back and Joey Porter with his 17 sacks last season will now play every down instead of part time. My take is the Dolphins and Pats will battle for the division and the Jets and Bills will battle for the better draft pick. With a complete overhaul of that O line spells DISASTER for Buffalo, even with TO. Unless the Bills find a way to get more experience on that line they are doomed with Schonert calling constant pass plays.
  22. You can hail Dick Jauron as being brilliant all you want, the real fact is the guy is a perennial loser. He has had 3 years of drafting and bringing in free agents and this last season with Tom Brady on IR the entire year and you still want to blame it on talent. The fact that Jauron doesn't know good talent from bad
  23. Walker is a good RIGHT tackle, not great but good enough on the right side to get the job done. At left tackle he is in trouble with quicker / faster pass rushers. You don't need to take my word for it,watch what happens this season if they keep him at left tackle. The guys is 6'8'' and 366 lbs and really not all that quick. You would think with that height and size he would be a one man road grader in the running game but he has troubles.
  24. Was that before or after he pulled the gun on his dad
  25. Yeah, like I said above, My take is he was watching the Dolphins make the playoffs last season while stuck with the hapless redskins and wanted to rejoin Miami. All the talk about his signing with the Patriots was most likely a ploy to make the Dolphins want to resign him. Both the Redskins and Patriots would have given him more then the 1.5 Mil he got from Miami, he wants to play for a winner, AND be near his family, which is in Miami. Also, loyalties do run deep, which is why I could never understand Thurman Thomas putting on that Phins uniform...
