Dunno about TO or Edwards, But I'm ready to throw the coaching staff under the bus
-
From what I've seen in preseason the Bills record will be 2-6 by the Bye week The protection and blocking schemes will be so bad that Trent Edwards will be knocked out by week 4, if he makes it that long. Ralph Wilson will be contemplating a change at HC by week 8, he will make the announcement during week 9.(If I had my way Marty Schottenheimer would be getting a call at that time) Lots of Injuries will be plaguing the Bills once again and the Bills will make an unusual trade before the deadline passes. Things will start to turn around the second half of the season

I get a kick out of his latest interview by Chris Brown where he says that with the short week the Bills are game planning for both the Lions and Patriots. Can he be that stupid that he doesn't know he has from Friday of this week to all next week and then they play on Monday night of September 13th? He sounds like he is saying they play the Patriots the very next Monday. Dunno why you would game plan at all for the Lions at all, let your backups play that entire game to see who should stay and who should get cut. Then again, as crappy as Edwards has looked the last two games I'd be tempted to make him play the entire first half just to prove he can still play a decent game.

Who fires their OC a week before the season?
thewildrabbit replied to ans4e64's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When Edwards has the time and receivers are open he finds them, go back and look at the first 5 games from last year and then the San Diego & Denver game, the guy played great. From reading what Edwards has stated it looks like the coaches simply don't prepare the team properly for what they will face. The entire offense said that they were not prepared for the 3-4 defense of the Packers, who stated that THEY game planned the Bills. Jauron went on to say that going against a 3-4 like the Packers was good experience. It's tough to win in the NFL...when you don't prepare !!! -
O-Line, Edwards not as bad as it looked
thewildrabbit replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He states that the Line did a better job then the RB's did in blocking. Dunno how he can state that when he clearly makes notes like: Wood was bull rushed by 91, almost to Edwards. Which is as good as a QB hurry, If the QB takes a 5 step drop the linemen are supposed to hold their blocks at the line. When they get pushed back 5 yards and into Edwards face, ITS A BAD BLOCK! Perhaps Ron is not worried about the O line, I certainly am. I watched Hangartner get bullied by BJ Raji in the packer game. I watched as the Blocking schemes and protections failed to allow Edwards the time he needed to throw the ball for the plays that were called against the Packers and Steelers. I'm not the only one worried either, For the Bills' offense, it was more of the same -- no touchdowns, no sustained drives and little yardage, or much like it's been throughout a preseason in which a newly installed no-huddle scheme has mostly been a no-go. It didn't help going against a Steelers starting defense that has yet to allow a touchdown in three exhibition games. "Maybe they need to huddle up a little more," Farrior joked. It probably didn't help going against a Steelers starting defense that has yet to allow a touchdown in three exhibition games. "We've got a lot of issues that we've got to solve," coach Dick Jauron said. "We've got to solve them very quickly." http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/gamecenter/re...0090829_BUF@PIT -
How a Stanford grad calls out his coaches

naa, it is preseason... But I'd think what we are watching is true regression of a player, same thing happened to JP for whatever reason. -
Other disturbing things about Saturday
thewildrabbit replied to Haven Moses's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because the 1st string opposing defense takes away the tight ends, it one of the Bills biggest failures to address in the off season. TE and FB positions, both stink A great blocking TE and FB would help in the running game and a decent receiving TE would help in the passing game. The Bills did try and bring in Tony Gonzalaz last season in a trade, so they know they are lacking in the TE position and tried to upgrade it at one point. Gonzalaz would have fixed both issues in blocking and receiving for the TE position. -

This Bills team is a mess, both sides of the ball. -
Observations about our offensive/defensive schemes
thewildrabbit replied to NY Nole's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They Don't! The Mike Martz passing offense will die once Schonert is fired, as Mike Martz has been fired in his last 3 jobs in the last 3 years and is currently unemployed as an OC / HC and doing TV stints.Steve Fairchild moved on to be a college HC. Several teams utilize a form of cover 2 / Tampa 2, only the Bills seem to be utilizing the scheme full time and the bend but don't break philosophy seems to get broken by the Patriots every time they play them. Plus that defense is always weak against the run, power running teams will own the Bills. -

Now I have to wonder if Marv stepped away so quickly because he realized the error he made in picking Jauron? -

Sounds like an upgrade to Schonert, then again anything would be an upgrade to Turk -
Brodie Croyle or Tyler Thigpin

Tom Brady is fine, nothing serious to his shoulder, but the Pats just released their 2nd string QB who was drafted to take Brady's place some day. O'Connell cut by Pats: A third-round choice in 2008, O'Connell was the leading candidate to be Tom Brady's backup this season after the departure of Matt Cassel. The timing of the release was particularly surprising considering Brady's right shoulder injury Friday night against the Redskins. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp...tory?id=4432734 Now with O Connell gone it sure looks like the Pats will be looking at QB's with only Andrew Walter and Brian Hoyer as back ups still on the roster. -
First of all there is no comparison between Big Ben and Trent Edwards, no other QB in the league can do what Ben can do... He is 6'5'' and 250+lbs, can see over the line and is mobile, it usually takes more then one defensive player to tackle him and he is really elusive for his size. He basically won that SB trophy for the Steelers single-handedly. He plays behind one of the worst lines, which didn't run block or pass block very well last season. He was one of the most sacked QB's in the NFL and tends to hold the ball longer then he should. Still manages to find the receiver that is slightly open and get the ball to him. Edwards needs help and lots of it, too bad the Bills coaches are so inept that they can't help him much and keep calling 5-7 step drop passing plays when he clearly doesn't ever get enough time to make those throws. Edwards would thrive in a west coast offense designed to get rid of the ball in under 3 seconds, short routes and underneath passes. Screen plays, roll outs, fake roll outs and a really good running game would all help Edwards. Can we also remember that the first string offense played against what was the best defense in the NFL last season.

Brodie Croyle or Tyler Thigpin
thewildrabbit replied to thewildrabbit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude, forget the playoffs!!! PLAYOFFS...PLAYOFFS...In Jim Mora's voice. Have you watched the O line play? Have you watched the QB play? Have you watched the lack of a running attack? From what I witnessed from the starting offense against the Packers and Steelers, this current team won't win more then 3 games and those will be by pure luck and defense. -
Brodie Croyle or Tyler Thigpin
thewildrabbit replied to thewildrabbit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you recall last seasons game against the Bills, Thigpin looked good to me. While the score was 51-31 Bills, Thigpin looked pretty good against that rolling Bills defense that could do no wrong that day. Granted the guy had Tony Gonzalaz to throw to,who is now a Falcon. While I agree that any QB put behind that rebuilt Bills O line will most likely fail, Thigpin played behind last years crappy Chiefs O line and managed 17 TDs and 12 INT's and managed to generate an actual passing offense.Thigpin or Croyle will push Edwards like JP did to perform better as he knows Jauron won't bench him for Fitzy, even though he should. I also agree that the current coaching staff is mostly clueless on how to build and run a decent offensive system and will need to be replaced before the Bills find any success on a football field. I get the distinct impression Jauron wants to lose and wants to get fired so he can sit back and do nothing and still get paid. Why did he promote Schonert and Kugler from within a crappy system and on defense he went out and hired a very experienced veteran D line coach? -
Michael Lombardi...two Bills notes
thewildrabbit replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been complaining about Turk and his no huddle all off season, exactly how will it work if the Bills fail to make a first down? -
It seem that the KC Chiefs have an extra QB they might not want to carry, there have already been talks about a trade between the Jags and Chiefs over Thigpin for a 4th rd pick and the Chiefs want a 3rd for him. After watching Edwards play so badly against the Steelers and Packers, do the Bills FO make a move to getting another QB? Either of those two I mentioned could start and play well, or push Edwards into playing well. Either way, I think it would be in the Bills best interest to pull the trigger on a trade asap Trent Edwards went 6-of-13 for 31 yards and also threw an interception on Saturday against the Steelers. Edwards finished his game with a 21.0 passer rating. The Bills' offense has struggled this preseason. In four games, Buffalo's starters have compiled only 303 yards, 15 first downs, a field goal, and five turnovers. http://www.rotoworld.com/Content/home_NFL.aspx The Eagles might be letting A.J. Feeley go because they signed Vick, on the other hand Mike Vick not looking to bad right now. Jeez, could the Bills use a guy like Vick?

It's tough to win in the NFL... His players play hard for him -
Gotta make a first down for the no huddle to work..... Turk Schonert says...
-
I'm starting to think that most Bills fans and TBD posters have finally taken off the rose colored glasses and realize what I've know since the Peters trade and the complete rebuilding of the offensive line, the Bills will only be as good as their O line.

Edwards is a Stanford grad, bright guy. I wonder if he realizes he is surrounded by idiots and is tanking on purpose.

With this O line? He won't fare any better then JP or TE as this staff juggles the O line every year. Better to draft Tim Tebow and let him run the option / wildcat. -
