Sign some Free Agents to help with the rest of season
thewildrabbit replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bringing in some O line help for the injured tackles might actually be a good idea, lord knows Trent Edwards needs better protection on both ends. The Bills won't tho, Jauron is to lame brained and Wilson to cheap as this season is already paid for... -
Another Possible although not Probable Idea for HC
thewildrabbit replied to IHFO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Herm Edwards...please NO! The Bills already have a loser head coach, Edwards went into KC which had just been rebuilt by Dick Vermeil and started rebuilding again. He is another dufas that doesn't get that you build the O line first, protecting the QB is everything. "IF" the Bills hire another defensive minded head coach, I'm hoping it is Marty Schottenheimer. You know he will hire his son Brian away from the Jets to be the OC and build a decent O line and proper ground game. His son could take over as head coach after a few years and the Bills might actually become a decent team that is able to contend with the Patriots. -
You guys can post all the nonsense you want, keep deflecting. Like most of you didn't post in the beginning of the season that the Bills would make the playoffs. The hard facts are that Jauron is here for this year and more then likely next year as well. Because Wilson is way to cheap to fire him and then pay him to do nothing, while paying another head coach. Just deal with it

I suppose asking for a serious post from fans at this point is a waste of time. I was kinda hoping some out there still might want to voice an actual opinion, rather then just troll garbage. Things like: 1st, I'd tell Bobby April to go all out and get the special teams unit ready for anything, on side kicks-fake punts- go all out to block punts by overloading one side of the line. Anything goes, make special teams exciting again. 2nd tell AVP to get the ball into TO's hand 10-15 times a game, play him in the slot, at tight end, reverses and fakes, end arounds. Just make him earn his 6+ mill this year. 3rd bring in Jon Runyan OT, even if the guy doesn't play that much he will bring in some depth, experience and leadership to a very young inexperienced and oft injured O line. 4th, the Bills can't afford to let Trent Edwards get hit like he was in the first 8 games, Runyan should help with this. Also, why not run the same type of plays they ran against New England. Bubble screens, slants and quick passes to keep pressure off the QB. 5th, run the ball more often, use the wildcat and have TO in the mix, run first with a lot of play action.

3-5 at the bye week. The starting QB coming back from another concussion. The team riddled with various injuries again this season. The offense is 28th overall, 27th in passing and 18th rushing.Trent Edwards is the 26th rated QB, Fitz not even in the top 30. The defense is 25th overall, 11th against the pass and LAST in the NFL against the run at 32. Don't let that 11th rated pass defense give you any giddy feelings about the pass rush or the secondary. The Bills have played 3 brain dead QB's and teams. The Browns only completed two passes all game and Sanchez threw 5 INT's. The Jets OC brain farted in letting Sanchez even throw a pass when his two running backs had 300+ yards on the ground. For some inexplicable reason the Panthers OC did the same thing with Jake D, letting him throw when they have two great backs who could have done what Ryan Moats did this past Sunday. Why would any team even try and throw when they can run all day, eat up the clock and the Bills can't stop it? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 bright spots, the turnover ratio is currently at +3 and Byrd seems to be a one man wrecking crew ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So how do the Bills fix things and get this team into the playoffs?

Do you want to Keep Jauron or Fire Jauron
thewildrabbit replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The road to hell is paved with good intentions... Dick Jauron at some point may very well be the next Mike Nolan to some team after he leaves Buffalo. His players play hard for him, they fight and do their best. The one big difference between Marv Levy and Jauron is that Levy would find the best coordinator he could get and hire him. He hired Ted Marchibroda to run the offense and wanted to hire Tom Coughlin to run the defense before he was offered to be the head coach at Jacksonville. Lets not forget Levy also hired Dan Henning, who helped Carolina to a super bowl and is now the Dolphins OC. My problem with Jauron is he refuses to hire a decent offensive coordinator, he started out with the right intention in hiring Steve Fairchild. In Fairchild a disciple of Mike Martz, Jauron wanted to install a high powered passing offense and it just didn't happen. Instead he got a ball control predictable offense and it went nowhere, Bills fans rejoiced when Fairchild left to coach in the college ranks. Now we are faced with an OC who was promoted from within that same crappy Martz system, who trained under another OC who was promoted from within the very same crappy offensive system. This current Buffalo Bills offense lacks an Identity, the K-gun offense was with Jim Kelly who called his own plays. That offense left when Jim Kelly left, the play book remains but it is a hodge podge of different plays. This team has TO and Lee Evans and they simply can't find a way to get the ball down field enough or even get the ball in those two play makers hands enough. Jauron has had FOUR YEARS to field a winning team, and every year he has failed to even get a winning record, much less a play off berth. Currently the team is 3-5 at the bye and riddled with injuries and a QB coming off a severe concussion AGAIN... Same crap, same excuses, different year. I really just want the guy gone and out of Buffalo. -
Where is the guy who wanted predictions as the season started and said he would re post those at the bye week? Anyway, pretty sure 3-5 beats what I predicted.

Brutal truth from Inside Slant
thewildrabbit replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jauron is somewhat clueless on how to run an offense, that fact is readily apparent. What bothers me is the guy is clearly afraid to bring in a name OC, the only person that perhaps could have taken his job was Schonert... and he fired him. The problem on this team is first and foremost with the offensive line and to be more specific the tackle position, the current players are all learning in trial by fire. Which means they are thrown on the fire until they play well, get burned or injured. This years Bills team could have done so much better with some experience at the tackle position as they entered the year with virtually no depth at that position. As soon as the injuries started the entire offense started to tank. I honestly hope that whomever replaces Jauron when he eventually goes is someone who will bring in the west coast offense to the Buffalo Bills, clearly the offense they run now is old fashioned and easy to game plan against. -
I'm strongly in favor of keeping Jauron past next year when his contract is up, we also need to hire Matt Millen as president and bring in Jeff George for a tryout at QB.
-
You can't compare a QB who sat on the bench for 4 years and studied behind one of the greatest QB's of all time to one who gets pounded on in his first year. Besides, I already had stated the Packers offensive scheme is far far better then anything the Bills run, not to mention the coaches are better with more experience. You can't tell me you wouldn't trade Mike McCarthy for Jauron in a heartbeat... or the OC, or even Ted Thompson even up for Buffalo's

Could Edwards be the Franchise guy with new coaching?
thewildrabbit replied to PJBrown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree completely, Trent Edwards play is the result of a horrid offensive line, bad coaching and a crappy offensive system. -
Could Edwards be the Franchise guy with new coaching?
thewildrabbit replied to PJBrown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The sole reason I don't like Holmgren is he will want power, so much so that he won't be one on one with the QB and the result will be what Seattle had last season. Trent Edwards seems like a perfect fit for a west coast offense, If the Bills were to get Shanahan or Holmgren and all they did was be the head coach... then yea, that would work. -
I suppose that is one way to look at it... Let me ask a question, if Payton Manning wanted to bring in a certain head coach-player-offensive coordinator to help the team win and Bill Polian said emphatically NO, this is what we are going to do. How do you think Manning would respond? While I can see both sides to this controversy and realize no player is bigger then the team, at least the GM could have done was kept the same offensive coordinator. I can see why the GM didn't want to bring in Randy Moss and he wanted to pick his own head coach, very understandable. I think it all came down to how it was done rather then why it was done. The team went 13-3 and lost at home in the playoffs due to a Farve interception, so the GM wanted to move on, and it showed. I wonder how the Packer fans will feel should the Vikings make it to the super bowl and win it! How safe will Ted Thompson's job be then?
-
When was Mike McCarthy hired ? When was Randy Moss first traded to Oakland? When was he then traded to New England for a 4th round draft pick. Farve really wanted Moss, especially after watching the guy year after year in Minnesota do so well with Dante Culpepper. Farve knew what Randy Moss would have meant to his team had Green Bay, at the very least they could have tried to trade for him, they made no effort. With Ted Thompson running things it seems like its his way or the highway. Farve knew what losing his OC to Minnesota meant to him and the offense. I honestly think Farve felt he wasn't being included in the team like he had been in the past, and yea the GM and HC were wanting to get Rodgers in there. So what happens if Rodgers gets a concussion like Edwards did in Arizona?
-
Will it? What makes Farve so amazing is that he has been doing it for 18 years and hasn't missed one game. Stating that, how long before Rodgers gets shell shocked behind that crappy O line just like Trent Edwards. Perhaps concussed or injured and knocked out for the year. Didn't Rodgers already miss some time last season because of injury? In my view, the biggest difference between Arron Rodgers and Trent Edwards is that severe concussion Edwards suffered last season in Arizona, Rodgers has so far avoided a hit like that. I'll speculate It is only a matter of time he gets smoked and lit up because he is hit so often. Obviously, Rodgers is on a team with a better head coach and offensive system, too bad the GM and HC aren't smart enough to build a proper O line, great way to treat your "franchise" QB isn't it.
-
My entire point was that Brett Farve wouldn't have even contemplated retirement If Ted Thompson hadn't screwed him over again and again on Head coach, wide receiver and offensive coordinator. I'm fairly confidant that Farve is happy he is not playing behind that fubar O Line that Rodgers has to contend with... Lastly, that O line is about on par with Buffalo's O line. It is a good thing Edwards knows how to check down because the Bills would lead the NFL in sacks allowed instead of Green Bay. As it is Edwards has been knocked out with one concussion, how many more will he need to endure before Jauron grows a brain and brings in Jon Runyan to at least try and shore up that line.
-
Can anyone blame the guy for wanting to leave Green Bay and showing up GM Ted Thompson? Thompson hired Mike McCarthy over Steve Mariucci, didn't want to bring in Randy Moss and in the result, changed the team his way. Brett Farve wanted his old OC at GB, Darrell Bevell to stay with the Packers, instead he left and went to Minnesota, he wanted Randy Moss, he wanted Steve Mariucci, he wanted the same offense. There is no question that the numbers Arron Rodgers put up last season show that he knows his position and can be a very good QB in the NFL. So what is the problem in Green Bay and why is that team failing? Rodgers has been sacked more then any other QB is the NFL so far, he has a very fast release and can scramble. The problem is with the O line. The are very the same reason's the Buffalo Bills are failing, Offense- Offensive coordinator-Offensive line I really like AVP and think he would have done a much better job as OC this season if he had time to prepare in the off season. He didn't have time to change things his way, he was given a job with high stress and very high scrutiny and so little time overhaul the offense. Head coach Dick Jauron has changed the offensive line every year he has been in Buffalo, it is to bad he didn't start building the offensive through the draft in his first year, instead of his fourth. Just think of this, IF the Bills had kept Jason Peters and or drafted a top OT in this year, or even brought in a top free agent OT instead of all these young players and rookies at tackle. The Bills could easily be 5-3 at this point instead of 3-5, all those 3 wins do is insure that Jauron stays this season. If the Bills somehow manage to win another 5-4 games and finish 7-9 or better he stays next year also...

A giant misconception by the fans...
thewildrabbit replied to High Mark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not entirely certain its totally Brandon's fault, I can recall reading that Ralph Wilson is the one who wasn't going to pay Peters top LT money, ever. I kinda believe that now. no premier player will ever want to come to Buffalo after watching TO fail so miserably. -
Dick Jauron's Popwarner Offense
thewildrabbit replied to barbwire's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Someone also stated that the Bills are tough to play, but easy to beat. You guys gotta understand that the offense is very young, someone had a post stating that the Bills had the youngest line in the NFL, with the least amount of experience, plus a new to the team back up QB running things. You simply can't run a complex offensive scheme with so many new and young players, that is the main reason for keeping the same players and building continuity. Every year Jauron has changed the offensive linemen and thus every year the team lacks cohesion on offense. Last season Trent Edwards was blindsided on a safety blitz at Arizona and it changed the entire Buffalo Bills season. -
Fewell now ahead of April as interim HC
thewildrabbit replied to Rayzer32's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills defense is LAST in the NFL against the run and 24 overall, how does that make the DC a candidate to be the head coach? The Bills could have the #one defense against the pass, but why should opponents even try and throw when they can run so easily and win. Look at the Texans, some backup RB looked like Barry Sanders against the Bills defense. -
Jeff Fisher Could Be On The Outs In Tennessee
thewildrabbit replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IF Jeff Fisher were to be fired in Tenn, there would be a line of teams wanting to hire the guy asap Dallas-Washington- Cleveland- Jacksonville- Carolina-Oakland for certain, these teams may already be tired of their first year experiments -Kansas City-St Louis -Tampa Bay- Going to be an Interesting off season this year, I see at least 7 head coaching changes. The Bills won't make a change, Wilson won't pay Jauron and another coach, so it is one more year of mediocrity. -
Runyan: I got no feedback at all from Buffalo
thewildrabbit replied to John Gianelli's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea, and those coaches have a history of not being able to tell a great player from an ordinary player. Every year Jauron has overhauled the offensive line and changed several linemen, this year it is a total overhaul and they shed all the older experienced veterans. The line wasn't particularly good with the experienced players, so they went to a youth movement. What this coaching staff fails to realize is ... constantly changing the linemen kills the continuity and it will never get better. Darn shame the Bills went DE and took project Maybin instead of Michael Oher, that line could have really improved and would lack only one tackle. -
Runyan: I got no feedback at all from Buffalo
thewildrabbit replied to John Gianelli's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Could the Bills use him, yes Is he better then the starters, yes But, have the Bills tried older experienced veteran lineman only to see them fail, yes The Bills don't want to pay this player very much and don't want any disruptions on the team, the only way they would sign him is if they start winning more games and someone gets injured. With a playoff berth looming and lack of players at the position might induce them to make a move, otherwise they let the new guys play and let them get experience. Let's face it, this team isn't going anywhere and will do no better then 7-9, why overpay for a player unless they really need to. -
NFL Offensive Line Rankings
thewildrabbit replied to MaineMoxie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The reason for their decline is really very simple... The team changed defensive coordinators and the new DC Chuck Cecil is horrid. For Fisher to fire the guy at this point would most likely end his coaching career, so Fisher might be trying to help him by keeping him there and teaching him. Cecil was a punishing hitting FS when he played in the NFL and Fisher gave the guy his first job as assistant DB's coach. Jim Schwartz who is now head coach of the Detroit Lions was the Titans DC last season. Consider that the Titans were one of the best defenses in the NFL last year and now the worst in the NFL this year. With that dominating defense, particularly good against the pass last season. The Titans would shut down the opponents and run the ball down their throats with Chris Johnson and Lendale White. This year the defense stinks and is the worst against the pass. So the Titans now have been playing from behind and throwing the ball more and trying to have kerry Collins win games, which he clearly can't do. Last season the Titans would build a lead and keep it with their defense and run the ball. That running game is useless when your always playing catch up and throwing.
