  1. You guys gotta understand that the morons that used to coach the Bills try and make the QB win every game ...instead of supporting him to help him make plays. A better O line would mean a better running game which would allow the team to run first and use play action to set up the passing game. This last game against KC gives me hope that Fewell gets the fact that establishing a running game helps the QB immensely. Leave Edwards on the bench, he has taken enough beatings this season.
  2. The head coach or the wizard of oz, GM Ozzie Newsome hired Cam Cameron as the Ravens OC. You know the same guy who was OC for the Chargers under Marty when they went 13-3. The fullback Le'Ron McClain was their leading rusher last season in Baltimore with Willis McGahee and Ray Rice. The Ravens were a (509) run first, pass second (428) offense last season
  3. Kansas City was in the playoffs almost every year back then, they even went after Joe Montana to get them to the SB. Too bad they had Marty fail as the head coach. The Dolphins were in the playoff hunt almost every year it seemed with Dan Marino, I remember a playoff game they lost up in Buffalo and a Dolphin player stated " I can't believe we scored 34 points and still lost" in a 44-34 Bills win. Heck, the Bills even went to Miami for an AFC championship game. *With Marino at the helm, the Dolphins were perennial playoff contenders, reaching the post-season in 10 of Marino's 17 seasons. In 1992 he made his final appearance in an AFC Championship Game, losing to arch-rival Jim Kelly and the Buffalo Bills, 29-10. Kelly's Bills knocked Marino out of the playoffs three times between 1990 and 1995. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Marino John Elway and the Bronco's were always in and around the playoffs also it seemed, funny how everyone forgets that it took a dominate ground game and Terrell Davis to finally help win those SB's for him. Championship games 90-Raiders 51-3 at Buffalo 91-Bronco's 10-7 at Buffalo 92-Dolphins 29-10 at Miami 93-Chiefs 30-13 at Buffalo If I had to say which team was in the playoffs the most around the same time as Buffalo, it would be the Chiefs. Marty even asked the NFL to change home field for the AFC championship game to a neutral site because of the Buffalo Bills.
  4. Martz sucks... Its his craptastic offensive scheme that the Bill are currently running, its why the offense and protections stink. He was FIRED in St Louis as head coach! Went to Detroit as offensive coordinator and was FIRED! Went to San Francisco as offensive coordinator and was FIRED! So, exactly how does getting fired from his last three coaching jobs make him a good choice for the next Bills head coach? If this front office remains intact It wouldn't surprise me to see those buffoons actually hire Martz and screw up this franchise even more then it already is.
  5. It isn't nuts to me, take a look at how things might be this season if the Bills could actually run block and pass block properly. If the Bills had at least tried to shore up that left tackle spot the entire season could have been different. The New England game would have been won simply by being able to run out the clock at the end of the game. The Cleveland game was lost by the score of 3-6, with even decent blocking the line would have allowed the Bills to score more then 3 points. The Jacksonville game was lost 15-18, again with better blocking the run game works and the protections are better, Bills win. The Jets game lost 13-19, that game was easily within reach IF the Bills could run the ball and the QB had more time to throw. That is 4 games the Bills were in until the last few min. The Bills are currently 5-8, flip that around and say they only won 3 of those 4 games and its 8-5 In my view, either the front office or Dick Jauron or both destroyed this years team before they had even played a game by completely retooling the O line. While I agree with the new guards and center, cutting Walker was a stupid move, and so was not bringing in a decent replacement for Jason Peters at left tackle.
  6. While the Peters hate still survives in Buffalo, the Eagles are very happy they made the trade for him. From various analysts I've listened to on the NFL network, almost all have stated that the Eagles wouldn't have the record they currently have without Peters. Their starting left tackle was gone and they needed a replacement to lock down that spot, is Peters playing up to that 11 million dollar contract, not currently. But he is holding down one of the toughest positions in pro football and allowing McNabb time to throw, something the Bills are still in desperate need of.
  7. Michael Lombardi stated recently on NFL network that the great teams have great offensive lines, and you can't get far with a bad O line. Man, does this Bills fan get that last part. When I heard him make that statement I started thinking "IF only", the Bills had paid Jason Peters or drafted Oher to replace him instead of drafting Maybin. Then the left side would have been locked down. The Bills had kept Langston Walker on the right side and put Hangartner at center and drafted Wood for guard. That line wouldn't be the weakest area of the team. If they had just brought in Levi Jones or Mark Tauscher when they had the chance, the latter is the reason Rodgers is playing like he did last year and the Packers are doing so well right now. This front office is directly responsible for the current record of 4-8. Its not just hindsight either, so many fans have posted here all season that the FO needs to bring in a tackle, they never did... If the fans get it, why don't the paid professionals in the office at OBD get it? The Bills could easily be 8-4 right now and leading the division... if the line could actually run and pass block worth a damn.
  8. Perhaps all the cost cutting moves the Bills did this off season was for a reason, dumping Jason Peters, Langston Walker, Derrick Dockery and not bringing in any other decent LT free agents. I was beginning to think someone in the front office was taking bribes to screw the team, now I think that more cost cutting moves will occur. The Bills need all the extra $$ they can get to stay competitive, and this move screws them. I just can't see the Bill staying in Buffalo long term now
  9. Really good point, if he had been training up in Green Bay he was learning the WCO and now needs to learn the Bills podunk O. This staff doesn't need to throw the guy into the fire just yet... Another thought is starting Fred Jackson, I like the guy and hope he can hold up under the burden of starting and returning kick offs, nothing like wearing down an already older RB.
  10. AFAIK the Buffalo Bills have never used the WCO. If The Bills utilized it instead of the crappy Mike Martz scheme they currently use, Trent Edwards might have played better, If I'm not mistaken It is what he learned while at Stanford. Lots of posters have stated they don't want to see the WCO in Buffalo, and I don't understand why. The Packers, Eagles, Broncos,Seahawks,Raiders, Vikings,Texans all utilize it, or some form of it. If it was good enough for Brett Farve up in Green Bay, it should be good enough for Buffalo.
  11. I agree, look at Denver and Kyle Orton, last time I looked nobody was confusing him with Payton Manning, and yet they can win games with him at QB. Tight end is another area the Bills are lacking in, they have neither a dominate blocker or pass catcher at that position IMO. From my view Edwards started to play poorly after Bell was injured in the second game, QB's can take only so many hits before they start to get happy feet, see phantom sacker's, and lose the timer in their head. The ineptitude from the front office / coaching staff with this years offensive line shouldn't be over looked either. They didn't even try and find a replacement for Jason Peters in the draft or free agency. Then they cut the right tackle just before the season started. It is almost like they wanted to blow up the offense and season this year.
  12. Take note of that little arrow next to the name, date, time posted. If you click it, it takes you to the thread it is posted under. If you would care to read up a few posts, here is what I posted. For some reason it won't let me "quote -reply" Sept 4th 2009 1:37 pm I don't care where you played college ball, you seem so enamored by it that it makes you think you're superior to every other poster, get over yourself SKOOBY. I think Joe Montana is one of the greatest QB's ever, it is just that he didn't achieve that acclaim by himself. Considering you played some college football it amazes me that you just don't get the TEAM concept. Would Joe M have made it into the HoF playing for Arizona or Detroit? Like I stated, he went downhill after he parted from Bill Walsh and Jerry Rice.
  13. I'm a local and I don't like him, how he keeps his job is beyond me. He used to make erroneous statements in his columns all the time when he first started, either he knows someone or married someone to get that job.
  14. I think I'll wait to hear what Mike Mayock has to say about this crop of QB's entering the draft this year. Hopefully, the Bills will make some changes and get an offensive coordinator / head coach who knows how to build a proper offense, AFTER they hire a GM / president who knows how to evaluate talent properly
  15. FYI,Joe was traded to the Chiefs in 1993, to an already playoff team where Marty Schottenheimer was head coach and all they really lacked was a decent QB, the starter in 1992 was Dave Krieg. The Chiefs were hoping that Montana would take them to the SB, he didn't. I stated in other posts he was one of the legends of football and one of the greatest QB's to ever play the game. If he had gone to Tampa Bay, Detroit, St Louis or any other crap team in the 80's, I highly doubt they win a SB, much less get there.
  16. Before you call others stupid and dumb, either learn to spell or get a spell checker. The entire point of this thread is OL or QB, and so many posters here have stated that any good QB can overcome an inferior O Line. I'm pointing out that Steve Young was horrid at Tampa Bay for two years behind a crappy O line and on a crappy team, doesn't this reinforce my point that an O line is important? Both years the Buc's went 2-14 with Young as QB,Young's record as starter was 3–16. In his 19 games, he threw for only 11 touchdowns with 21 interceptions while completing fewer than 55% of his passes. It also reinforces my point I made about Joe Montana playing on a bad team, you just refuse to acknowledge it.
  17. He was a really good offensive coordinator when he had Curt Warner, Tory Holt, Issac Bruce, Marshall Faulk all playing well. Once Faulk left he forgot how to utilize the RB and thus started he started on his downward skid. He did run that offense known as 'the greatest show on turf" as an OC, but then failed in SF and Detriot with less talent as an OC. So yea, I'd say no as well and look for someone a tad younger with less ego.
  18. And yet again you show how truly dense you are because you refuse to understand what others are saying. I'll try and go slow so you may get it, maybe not though as your pretty darn dense. You completely dismissed everything I stated about Bill Walsh because your so fixated that someone might be saying Joe Montana might be something other then a SB winning QB. What the 49ers did before 1979 is irrelevant because BILL WALSH didn't take the job as head coach until that year!!!! You know Bill Walsh, the HoF head coach who invented the "west coast offense". My point about Montana was that he played for a HoF head coach and started in the best offensive scheme for pro football for the last 30 years. The west coast offense has been copied successfully over and over to produce some of the best teams and QB's in NFL history. Just some of the QB's to win with the west coast offense John Elway-Brett Farve-Joe Montana-Steve Young-Rich Gannon-Matt Hasslebeck-Donavon McNabb-Aaron Rodgers. Just to point out Rich Gannon didn't fair well in the old system until Jon Gruden got to Oakland with the west coast offense. Let me give you a hint as to why I made the statement about Montana, take a long hard look at Steve Young and what he did at Tampa Bay on a crap team, behind a crap O line. Both years the Buc's went 2-14 with Young as QB. What would have happened had Steve Young stayed on that Tampa Bay team instead of going to the 49ers, would anyone even remember him? Young's record as starter was 3–16. In his 19 games, he threw for only 11 touchdowns with 21 interceptions while completing fewer than 55% of his passes.
  19. This entire section of your post is irrelevant...What the 49ers did before 1979 is irrelevant because BILL WALSH didn't take the job as head coach until that year!!!! BTW, who is Eintstein...Montanna?
  20. Another poster who likes to take things out of context, my post stated this: I never compared Bledsoe to Brady, or stated the O line doesn't look better with Brady behind it. Again, some of you guys are obsessed with sack stats. Seriously, what do sacks mean if the guy is still able to get his team to a winning record. So he took more sacks then Tom Brady does, well yeah, he was learning to play pro football. The point about Cassell is that he started the season horrifically and ended up taking the team to 11-5 record, and looked so good at the end of the season he was offered a huge contract by another team. He was a player who never played college ball, these statements seem lost on a few of you.
  21. And your the same guy who defended Dick Jauron for countless pages in one thread...lmao I consider the source when I see a post of yours and realize you just like to argue over nothing most of the time and still don't understand why I made that statement about Joe Montana, which BTW, you took out of context. I think its great that you show how dense you are every time you post, I'm proud I made that statement and strongly believe it. QUOTE (thewildrabbit @ Sep 4 2009, 06:16 PM) If Joe Montana had played for Detroit or the Cardinals in the 80's the guy would have become just another obscure has-been. My point about Montana was that he played for a HoF head coach and started in the best offensive scheme for pro football for the last 30 years. The west coast offense has been copied successfully over and over to produce some of the best teams and QB's in NFL history. You really think that if Montana had gone to a scrub team in the 80's with a bad O line, that they would have gone to the super bowl and won it 4 times and built the best offense the NFL has even seen?
  22. The thing is, the change the team needs is a president like Ozzie Newsome / Bill Polian mold, and Ralph Wilson to stay away and let them run the team. It means the owner should be doing something else besides making his own picks on draft day. I'm not so certain that Wilson can keep his nose out of team affairs even if he does relinquish the president job. If he only just hires a new GM, then things still might not change very much.
  23. Maybe to a good team with decent talent evaluators, it doesn't matter to the Buffalo Bills is what he is saying. This Bills front office could have a pick in the top 5 for years and still not get it right. The Colts have been in the playoffs 10 years straight and still manage to get better talent on their team then the Bills who haven't seen the playoffs in that time. The same thing could be said about the Steeler's and Patriot's and most good team that stay at the top, it is because of their talent scouts and their smarter guys in the room on draft day. Plus the fact that their owner doesn't handcuff their teams by making his own stupid selections and screwing the team.
  24. Drew Brees was benched in San Diego and stated it was the best thing that happened to him, Marty benched him for throwing to many INT's. He stated it made him a better QB with more patience. You also can't compare the Buffalo Bills crap offense to the one Sean Payton setup in New Orleans
  25. The Bills could have gotten a replacement for JP once they traded him away, they chose not to. They could have drafted a O tackle, gotten one in free agency even up to two weeks ago, they chose not to. Dunno why they choose to ignore the most important position the the team besides the QB, but they did. I suppose it is why the front office needs change as much as the coaching staff, in fact it needs it more.
