Jeez guys, I understand your bitter that Bill Cowher, Jon Gruden, Brian Schottenheimer et all don't care to coach the Bills. There is no real reason to crucify the owner here, a guy who has kept this team in a very small market for so long. He could have easily moved the team away and made much more money in doing so. The Colts, Browns and Rams all moved away and have won super bowls since, perhaps his real fault is keeping the team in a dying city. OTOH, If I were RW, I'd find a way to get Cowher into Buffalo, even if it meant trading for McNabb, Vick or some other experienced veteran QB and giving the guy free reign to build the team his way.

Source: Frazier next Bills HC
thewildrabbit replied to buffalo1983's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If jauron is #1 I don't get how a guy who was fired by Marvin Lewis a few years ago, gets hired into an already really good defense scheme with some great players and does well... is now head coaching material? all i see is another jauron clone and another 3 years of failure -
Brian Billick is the only logical choice left!
thewildrabbit replied to Buffalo 66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It appears he has a point tho -
Think about it...If he took the Bills job he would have to face that Jet offense 2x a year, he KNOWS how good that running game is, how good the O line is, how good Sanchez can be. Plus he realizes how tough it will be in this division to win, he will have to face a parcells Dolphin team and Belichick Patriot team while trying to rebuild the Buffalo Bills. Besides, he might win a super bowl with Rex Ryan in the next few years and then he can take his pick of top teams that might need a head coach.

The thing about Mariucci is that he was handcuffed in Detroit by the moron pres /gm Matt Millen. He was initially hired to help their new young QB Joey Harrington succeed. Marty Mornhinweg was the head coach who drafted Joey Harrington in 2002 and the team went 3-13 that year and he was fired and replaced by mooch. The problem was that Harrington was already damaged goods and every time Mooch tried to fix the O line there was Millen drafting a WR with that #1 pick. Basically Mariucci wanted Harrington to sit and learn and Millen wanted him to play, no win situation. Mooch brought with him the west coast offense, it took John Elway almost three years to learn that same offense with Shanahan. Millen had no patience and wanted to win right away and he kept blowing things up when it didn't happen.

Bills FO, please just hire Perry Fewell already
thewildrabbit replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll say no to both Frazier and Fewell or I'll , I really can't stand the Tampa 2 defense. I don't care who the DC is, or the players are. The Bills have smallish defensive players because of that idiotic Jauron and his craptastic scheme. The Bills defense was last against the run this past season and they have been horrid stopping the run since Jauron got hired. If either of these two gets the Job you can pretty much predict the future for the next three years... last in the division. -
B Schottenheimer declines interview

Frazier was fired by Marvin Lewis in Cincy, what does that tell you about him... Another Dick Jauron clone -
B Schottenheimer declines interview
thewildrabbit replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Before everyone panics... Gary Kubiak also turned down several HCing jobs, because later on he stated he just wasn't ready. Jason Garrett has also turned down head coaching jobs, he wants the Dallas gig after Phillips leaves. OTOH, wow... it looks to the world like this franchise is even worse then the Detroit Lions -
If we could bring TD back, would you do it?
thewildrabbit replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lets not forget that bastage TD didn't want to pay Pat Williams and let him leave for Minnesota On another note I don't see how Marv did a lousy job as GM, every thing he did was undone by that moron Jauron, you know Mr lets rebuild the O line every year and promote people to OC who never called plays before. -
good point
-
I agree, he developed Jake Plummer in Arizona and has roots in the west coast offense while at SF. Any good qualified offensive mind would be a huge help to this franchise, Brian Billick, Steve Mariucci are not on the list and want to coach again. I like Steve Mariucci, but he was handcuffed by that moron Matt Millen while with the Lions. Those 2+ years in Detroit just goes to show what can happen to a coach when he steps into a steaming pile a of poo by going to a bad organization. Now nobody wants him because he didn't win many games with the Lions. Every time he wanted to draft an O linemen with the first pick, Millen over ruled him and took a WR. He should be judged more by his record in SF IMO.

Grimm tells us why the Bills gig isn't that good.
thewildrabbit replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The thing that bothers me is why does everyone think this man would be a good head coach? What QB's has he developed? What offensive scheme would he employ? Does he know how to call plays or run the offense? Would he be entirely dependent on whomever his coordinators are? As an ex O linemen and line coach, and now O line coach and assistant /HC and run game coordinator with the 28th ranked run game in the NFL. Granted that O line has allowed few sacks with less then super star linemen. I just don't see how it makes him a really good head coach. Hasn't Buffalo taken some risks with Gregg Williams, Mike Mularkey as first time head coaches and failed? Then they went after an experienced head coach with a losing record and he continued down the same road. The Bill need an offensive mind, one that can help the QB's and complete offense, not just the O line. An experienced head coach, one with a winning record, only Billick and Maricuci fit that bill IMO -
This franchise needs an offensive upgrade in the worst way, scheme, playbook, play calling. 25th or worst on offense for a decade. At this point I'd rather see Brian Schottenheimer get the job, along with Marty his father as a consultant. Perhaps the best of both worlds vs another defensive minded OC promoted to HC, plus stealing the Jets coach. Still, makes me wonder why the Bills haven't asked to interview Jason Garrett for the HC job, or Tom Moore. Top OC's per PFW http://www.profootballweekly.com/2010/01/1...ve-coordinators 1) Jason Garrett 3) Tom Moore 6) Cam Cameron 7) Brian Schottenheimer 8) Mike Meimerdinger 9) Mike Mularkey 12)Bruce Ariens 15) Kevin Gilbride 17) Marty Mornhinweg I still like Cam Cameron and what he has done with that Raven offense, gotta love the way they ran the ball for 200+yards 3 TD's on the ground against the Patriots...AT N.E.

RUMOR: Jim Kelly spoke w/Bill Cowher?
thewildrabbit replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gruden stayed at ESPN and broadcasting because he loves that job atm. Shanahan was being courted by Daniel Snyder all season long, reportedly he was asked on several occasions to replace Zorn. So most of us kinda knew where he was going to land. Lots on this board believe he was offered this huge sum of money to lure him here. There were reports of ten million dollars a year thrown at Cowher. When Adam Schefter states that he has a better chance of becoming the Bills next head then Cowher does, powerful statement. -
Don't get your hearts set on Frazier
thewildrabbit replied to XTC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Winning has nothing to do with what RW wants, he wants his franchise to make money. Anything after that is a bonus, if the team wins fine....if not, fine, as long as butts are in the seats. Look at the history of the franchise, the ONLY time he hired a named coach was when he hired Chuck Knox and that was after a decade of being dominated by the Dolphins, that's right 10 years of losing caused him to finally make a move. Now after his front office bozo's are afraid they will lose the complete fan base they consulted RW and made the move to fire Jauron, because morale was at an all time low. Now those same front office bozo's are blowing so much smoke up our butts we don't know what to think, if Shanahan wasn't hired by the Redskins most of the board would be thinking he is "the guy". After all the smoke clears Nix will hire someone that will come cheap, very cheap as they are going paying DJ 3.5 mil a year for the next 3 years. Someone desperate for a shot at a HC job, someone who is willing to overlook being handcuffed, like Frazier, Russ Grimm . -
Why a Quality Offensive Line is Critical
thewildrabbit replied to Peter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
See what I mean, this kind of thinking is exactly why Matt Stafford was playing injured most of the year... The Lions brought in Culpepper so Stafford could sit and learn and yet they still played him and got him hurt, to win what, a game or two? coaching fools. Flacco had a great, dominating run game to work with and once they settled down and started pounding the ball and getting the run game going... the Ravens were almost unbeatable. They rushed the Ball 42 times for 200+ yards and 3 TD's against the Patriots. Flacco was 4/10 for 34 yards and one INT in that playoff game -

thewildrabbit replied to Peter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be honest the Bills had a great O line back then and just couldn't get them to play great, It makes me think several things were wrong with what they were doing. 1) Scheme, the zone blocking scheme the Bills utilize is not the same one that the Denver Bronco's use and just could never get a dominate running game working. Head coach * 2) Continuity, or should I state lack of, Jauron and co. were constantly changing O line players every year and this last year they blew it all up and changed every position. 3) Fitness, they finally fired the crappy strength and conditioning coach after 21 players on the injured reserve this season. This guy has been putting unfit players on the field since he was hired by Mike Mularkey, Damn that man for firing Rusty Jones. *Plus the fact that Dick Jauron kept wanting rookie unproven inexperienced offensive coordinators to build a high powered scoring offense instead of a power running game, simply moronic. -

thewildrabbit replied to Peter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Talking O line and offense to this batch of posters is like running in sand for the most part, the majority still want a new QB and a defensive head coach, not to mention they want to draft defense before offense. I was b!tching hard in this forum about the Bills draft last April when they didn't address replacing Jason Peters in the draft, and then again in training camp when they didn't address LT in free agency. The majority of the posters here just want a Matt Stafford type to come in and overcome the horrid O Line, scheme and play calling, and end up with serious injuries and perhaps a shortened career Then they will want another QB to replace him once he gets injured and stops playing well. -
Another candidate turns down Buffalo!!
thewildrabbit replied to Buffalo 66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At least Mike Nolan will get us away from the craptastic Tampa 2 -
Clearly the Bills didn't do enough to lure Cowher to Buffalo, so now they have to settle for who they can get. Chuck Knox once stated after he left the Bills, "Buffalo is a coaches graveyard"

thewildrabbit replied to Buffalo 66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jeez guys, stop taking it so personal. Gary Kubiak turned down jobs because he knew he wasn't ready, so has Jason Garrett. Not for nothing, I'm glad he turned down an interview. He didn't appear like that much of an upgrade from Jauron. Understand that nobody worked harder then Jauron, he did everything he could to help the team. He just didn't have what it takes. -
How can you not love Kurt Warner?
thewildrabbit replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good thing Martz and St Louis got rid of him for Bulger... Rodgers looked like a freaking god, if only he connects on that last bomb to Jennings. Packers beef up their O line next year and GB is going all the way. -
I see so many holds-grabs-pushing-shoving-interference on both sides that is never called almost every play, it seems like the refs only call the really flagrant stuff in playoff games, jmo.

The Bills in the 90's used to have their share of problems with fat overweight players, some O linemen were not even allowed to practice until they met their weight conditions, unlike today's players who can't make it to the line fast enough and then are cut. If the Dallas Cowboys only had two players on IR this year it would be in the Bills best interest to find out what they are doing differently, and who is coaching them.
