  1. What does it tell you when an established offensive minded coach who knows how to run a brilliant offense thinks a player needs more time to develop and is worth losing him by placing him in the practice squad? They freaking WAIVED him and then resigned him to the practice squad. It tells me that the Packers don't think the guy has panned out at all for their system... and because he was such a high draft choice they didn't want to just release him. So congratulations... the Bills stole a guy that make take 3-4 years to develop, that is, "if" he can ever learn to read defenses.
  2. I wouldn't be upset if the Bill drafted Dez Bryant- CJ Spiller- Jimmy Clausen as long as they draft a LT at some point. I think it will depend on how the draft falls, so many teams need OL now its crazy, and you can never have to many play makers IMO. There appears to be at least 7 really good tackles and another 7 good tackles in this draft. So the Bills could use their second on a LT if there is nobody they like at #9.
  3. Wrong, I think Andy's love affair with McNabb is over and would trade him away, who would have thought they would simply release Brian Westbrook? The ONLY reason McNabb is not coming to Buffalo is because he has a no trade clause in his contract, which doesn't mean he can't be traded. It means he has the right to refuse any trade to a team he doesn't want to play for, the man would be an utter fool to come to Buffalo at this point in his career, he wants a ring and to play for a decent team!! Chan Gailey would be a even bigger fool to bring in an aging injury prone QB who has shown he can't handle pressure any better then TE. The Eagles O line and entire offense, players, scheme, system, game planning is 1000% better then the Bills and he couldn't get his team into the playoffs. Trading away precious draft picks that the team needs to rebuild for an older QB that would need to learn a new system and be surrounded by players and coaches learning a new system would be very jauron-ish and instantly give me reason to think the team mentality hasn't changed at all from last season.
  4. Way to early to predict anything, gotta wait for the draft If the team pulls a jauron and drafts a defensive player with that first pick they will be contending for the #1 overall next season.
  5. yea meant to say Brandon Marshall
  6. I'd rather see the Bills draft a Braylon Edwards / Plaxico Burriss type rather then another Roscoe Parrish / Ted Ginn Jr, thats just me tho.
  7. One thing is for certain, the Bills need a play maker opposite Lee Evans. If Nix feels Dez Bryant is that guy, then I'd be all for it. The Bills biggest current need in my view is at left tackle, once they address that position is linebacker and wide receiver. Some are saying they need a nose tackle, but both Kyle Williams and Marcus Stroud can fill that position IMO. So for me the Bills could go #1 WR -#2 OT-#3 LB or any combination of those and still do well. #1 OT-#2 LB #3 WR is more likely given the fact they never did replace Jason Peters last season and the LT position is the most critical on the offense after QB.
  8. Like I've said many times, Lynch is a freight train and needs a hole. Fred Jackson is like a Jaguar and just needs a crease. A crease is about all he got last season as he gained most of that yardage on his own IMO. He is more elusive then Lynch and its why he got the starting job. Chan Gailey is noted for building power running games in the past, let see what he does in Buffalo with 2 good backs.
  9. Yea that's why he went to the Patriots and got a super bowl ring after he left Buffalo, plus He ran for 1,157 yards and 12 touchdowns in the regular season.
  10. Jeez guys, look at who were the offensive cordinators the last 4 years... Steve Fairchild was the named OC at St Louis for 3 his three years they and helped game plan and tutor QB's, he didn't call the plays Mike Martz did. So in essence he wasn't a real OC. I can recall these boards calling Fairchild the worst names and wanting him run outta town, most were happy as hell he took a job elsewhere. Then Fairchild quits and Jauron promoted the QB coach who has never been more then a QB coach in his entire career to OC. This guy was a ten year career back up QB in the NFL and then a career QB coach, he was QB coach for 6 teams from 1992-07. If he was worth a crap don't you think he would have been promoted sooner or at least stayed with the same team more then a year or so? Alex Van Pelt was the next QB coach promoted to OC two weeks before the start of last years opening game, WTH? I think Dick Jauron didn't want to hire anyone with experience on offense because he knew there was a strong possibility he would lose his job to them. So basically most fans couldn't stand Steve Fairchild's offense and his game plans stunk, so the smart thing to do was promote the two guys under him that was Dick Jauron for you!
  11. Not just bad teams, bad players and bad coaching, and to me coaching is nearly everything. Simply look at Steve Young and his two years at Tampa Bay vs his time with San Francisco.
  12. Just think, the Dolphins chose Culpepper over Drew Brees Now you want the Bills to give him a try....
  13. I watched Joe Ferguson play behind some decent O lines and bad ones, he had some horrid traits. He would have a bad series and walk off the field with his head hanging down. If put under to much pressure he would simply throw it up for grabs. OTOH the guy could make some plays at times. When successful he had a solid team around him, O line with Jim Richter, Joe Devlin, Will Grant, Tim Vogler and bad boy Conrad Dobler to block,Joe Cribbs running the ball and Frank Lewis and Jerry Butler to throw to, he had a pretty darn good team around him. The Bills had a really good team both offense and defense in the early 80's, the Bermuda triangle with Fred Smerlas, Shane Nelson, Jim Haslett. Chuck Knox knew how to build a team and did it without a great GM like Polian. His problem in Buffalo was that he was at the mercy of the fools over him. Once Chuck Knox left Buffalo for Seattle Joe Ferguson was still there and the team went into the ceramic convience Anyway, I've watched Joe Ferguson play and Trent Edwards was better and starting to really get good, until his concussion in Arizona and the constant rebuilding of the O line. Considering he has had no decent teacher at the NFL level he did surprisingly good.
  14. And how many games did they win Thigpin as QB?
  15. My sentiments exactly, he was so stupid he managed to get himself fired... Then again, maybe he was tired of working for Ebenezer
  16. I'm glad he is in Pittsburgh also... This is the same guy who thought the Bills players were good enough to get the job done the last few years, the man was clueless. Jason Peters and the O line regressed badly with him as the line coach and has been horrible every year under him. Jim McNally retired after 28 years in the NFL as the Bills line coach in 07, Sean Kugler who was an assistant took over in 08 and that is exactly when the line started going downhill. Typical of Jauron to promote from within the staff because he was afraid to hire anyone on offense with experience.
  17. I honestly don't care anymore... The Bills have an owner who wants to run the org like a k-mart, with no Bill Polian type of a GM to prod this man into spending money on the right moves, he simply makes moves to save money everywhere he can. For some inexplicable reason Bills fans keep buying season tickets and the stadium keeps selling out game after game, year after year, despite the losing records and an offense that has been 25th or worse for 10 years. Dunno, maybe it is the beer goggles.
  18. They did indeed, too bad they had two crap guards and a totally crap center. I watched that Jets game where Kris Jenkins was TRIPLE teamed by those three losers and he still got to the QB! This year the center and both guards we so much improved that if the Bills had signed Michael Oher at started him at LT, then the entire season would have been different. Even if they had drafted Phil Loadholt in the 2nd round it would have been better then Maybin. Lets face facts, Maybin was a wasted draft pick last season and the Bills should have used that pick to draft a tackle to replace Jason Peters. Maybe it was for the best after all because with that one move Dick Jauron managed to get himself fired.
  19. PTR, You will never convince some of these Bills fans / posters that the O line and LT position are as important as the QB. Because some analyst states that the QB position trumps all... doesn't mean you can get by with inferior O linemen. What really gets me is the Buffalo Bills had one of the worst O lines in the history of the team in 09, and yet posts like this one pop up.They traded away a pro bowl left tackle and replaced him with an undersized DE. WTH has happened to the fans in Buffalo, can the stupidness that was Jauron permeate down from the coaches-players and beyond? You guys do realize that the second highest paid player on the team is usually the left tackle. In the case of Jason Peters, he would have been making more then all 3 Bills QB's combined. Perhaps it is because Bills fans no longer have a Bill Polian telling them the ins and outs of the team. I'm hoping Buddy Nix is Polian "ish" and is just keeping quite because he doesn't want to tip his hand on who he will draft. In my view the Bills currently have players in most every position that can get the job done for 16 games next season, with exception of the LT position.
  20. Jeez, the MAIN reason Green Bays O line got better and they started to win more games was because LT Mark Tauscher returned from an Injury. If he had come to Buffalo at that point the Bills would have improved also, as that position was a revolving door of players. I think it was 6 player changes at that spot alone.
  21. The really great thing about this draft is no matter what the Bills should get a good tackle this year. Seven 5 star tackles and seven 4 star tackles, that is 14 tackles going in the first day.
  22. Dick Jauron... is that you? Some of us on the boards have been saying the line has been horrible almost as long as the Bills have been without a super star QB, if you don't believe us then listen to what the NFL analysts are saying, they have no O line and no QB... Michael Lombardi has stated that no team can win with a bad O line, sacks don't necessarily mean a line is bad. Both the Packers and Steelers have far superior lines then the Bills, and suffered far less injuries.
  23. Jeez guys, haven't you seen enough defensive players taken the last few years with those first few picks? 09 Aaron Maybin DE 11th pick, coulda had Brian Orakpo LB-Michael Oher OT- Percey Harvin WR 08 Leodis McKelvin DB 11th pick, coulda had Ryan Clady OT- Chris Johnson RB- Joe Flacco QB- Ray Rice RB- DeSean Jackson WR 07 Marshawn Lynch RB 12th pick...made the pro bowl 06 Donte Whitner S 8th pick John McCargo DT 26th pick coulda had Jay Cutler-Haloti Ngata DT-DeAngelo Williams RB-Nick Mangold C- ROMAN HARPER S- Marcus Mcneill OT-Davin Joeseph G-Joseph Addai RB Maurice Jones Drew RB 05 traded away to Dallas for JP Losman- Jamal Brown OT-Aaron Rodgers QB-Roddy White WR-Heath Miller TE- Logan Mankins G- Michael Roos OT 04 Lee Evans WR 13th pick & JP Losman 22nd pick So basically JP Losman cost the Bills 2 first round picks, wise choice to have rookie offensive coordinators develop him...
  24. Probably nothing, the last 5 years the Bills haven't had a competent offensive mind on the team, 25th or worst in the NFL on offense for 10 years says it all. Realize Jim Kelly had 2 years of experience from the USFL under "mouse" Davis and then Ted Marchibroda mentored him and taught him to call his own plays in the NFL. He didn't call his own plays from the time he started playing in Buffalo, he was trained to do so by Marchibroda. Ted was the one who set up the famed Bills no huddle offense when he noticed how good Kelly was with the 2 min drill. He didn't invent it but he certainly brought it to the forefront, same with the shotgun formation. Would the Bills have become the same offensive powerhouse if Ted Marchibroda had never been hired? I dunno, kinda tough to say, I know he is the reason I purchased 4 season tickets from 87 to 93. I know Marv Levy didn't have the offensive acumen to build a high powered offense simply because he had no background in that field and was a special teams coach as an assistant. Kelly didn't suddenly become great in 87, it took a few years for the entire team to get good enough to win a championship. By the time Kelly was in his first super bowl he had already accumulated 5 years of experience. Would Jim Kelly have taken last years Bills to the playoffs with a rookie OC and an almost all rookie O line, no freakin way IMHO.
  25. You are correct, Ryan Leaf and Klingler went to a bad teams, with bad players and coaches, their entire surrounding cast was set up for them to fail. What is it with the mentality that you throw a new raw QB into the NFL and expect him to win games without support, they can't and never will.
