Bradford's workout leaves crowd in awe.
thewildrabbit replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea, it took him 5 years to acquire those hands and even then he wasn't anything more then a "possession" receiver. I'd rather have the younger taller Hardy and train him the way I want. -

No hate for the guy, but the Bills giving up what it would take to acquire him wouldn't be worthwhile IMO. Not when they are changing the defense from a 4-3 to 3-4 and need LB-NT , not to mention OT and WR. Besides, If the Bills really want the guy ...all they need do is simply wait 3 years and when he is beaten down and shell shocked from playing behind a crappy O line ...the Bills could get him for almost nothing. Isn't this the same team that gave up on Curt Warner for Marc Bulger It would take some huge balls to move up to take Bradford, and right now the only pair I've EVER seen in Buffalo are now residing in Indianapolis! -

Until the guy gets hit again on that 2x injured shoulder and is done for good... -
I think the Bills front office has been afraid to address the O line with the first pick because of Mike Williams, the monies they paid him are still burning them. The guy was a complete bust and that FO regime was fired. My take is you guys can relax, Nix, Gailey and even RW realize there was a huge mistake made last season with passing on Michael Oher, they could have traded back and still got him. This season the draft is loaded with tackles, 14 could easily go in the first 2 rounds, maybe even the first round. Left tackle would be my first choice and if there is another decent tackle in round two, then I'd draft another tackle. The Bills offense will only be as good as their O line, JMO.

Do you think Gailey can change Trent?
thewildrabbit replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm more of a Dick Jauron+ Turk Schonert hater then I am a TE lover. Let me ask two questions to see where you stand, how would you rate the Bills offensive coaches over the last 4 years? How would you rate the offensive line the last four years? If you graduate from a college and then get a job that requires training and are trained by morons at that job, how well do you think you would perform doing your job? Do you think that somehow you magically obtain the proper information to help you do your job, maybe osmosis? Big Ben and Aaron Rodgers didn't magically start playing great their first games. Big Ben got to sit in a nice pocket and hand the ball off to Jerome Bettis his first year while he learned his craft, throwing maybe 20-25 passes a game. He wasn't forced to try and win every game he was in. Rodgers got to sit a few years and learn the west coast offensive behind Brett Farve. Coaching is everything IMO. Like I stated earlier, lets see what kind of offense Gailey builds in Buffalo, lets see what Gailey can do with the QB's he has. -

Both those QB's and teams have been very lucky so far, and what happens when they get the hit that knocked out Tom Brady or Carson Palmer? Besides, you simply can't equate the O lines that Pitt and GB had to the Buffalo Bills line last season as both those QB's get way better protection most of the time. Their sacks are usually the result of them moving around in the pocket waiting for a receiver to break open. The Bills QB's had very little pocket protection, much less a floating pocket. Edwards was under constant duress and could wait until hell froze over before one of the Bills receivers are able to be open. The entire offense was run by people who stunk at their jobs, that is why they are all elsewhere and in a lower positions then the one they had in Buffalo. Turk Schonert isn't even in the NFL anymore, what does that say to you? -
The ONLY reason we only won 6 games is....
thewildrabbit replied to Celtic_soulja's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The thing is the RB takes more abuse then any other player on the team, their lifespan is shortened the more you utilize them, hence the emergance of 2 backs on almost every team and a 3rd down specialist to boot. Freddy is very good no doubt, but he is also old by RB standards and will wear out quickly under constant usage. I would start Marshawn Lynch and use Freddy as a 3rd down back and slot receiver. Having them both on the field at the same time would help disguise who is getting the ball. If Freddy can get yards when there is basically no hole, like he did all last season. Then put him in space and he is a very deadly asset on offense and even more so then just at tailback. Fred Jackson is one of the very few play makers on the team, get the guy the ball. -
Some stuff I'm sick of reading re: Trent Edwards
thewildrabbit replied to Simon's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The QB takes most of the glory when they win and most of the crap when they lose. Just once I would like to see an NFL team have open tryouts for QB and let the big mouths step up and show what they can do against an NFL defense going full speed. Anyway, TE has taken some severe beatings as the Bills QB and not pointed fingers... or thrown anyone under the bus... or b!tched, p!ssed or moaned. He took his lumps and did his best on a crap team... behind a crap O line.. being coached by crap coaches. I'd go to war with that guy any day -

It might be because Fitz has played in a decent team with a top QB in Carson Palmer and a decent offense and coaches in Cincy, he has had some experience on a 1/2 decent team. Trent was cast into a situation very few QB's could develop in, simply look who was teaching the guy. They took an OC from a team where the QB is under constant duress and getting beaten up, and never really called plays in his 3 years of being an OC, Steve Fairchild. Then he quits and then Jauron promotes the QB coach under him, who stunk even worse at calling plays and running an offense. Then Jauron fires Schonert three weeks before the season starts, (while getting rid of his top 3 O linemen) and promotes the QB coach again from the same system that has stunk for three years. Trent Edwards has lacked a decent coach since he has been in Buffalo, so let Gailey work with him and see what happens. -

thewildrabbit replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good coaching is everything IMO. Take a look at Joe Montana for a min. Bill Walsh designed the west coast offense and had Mike Holmgren for his OC. When Joe would throw an interception the two would go over the reason why and discuss it with Joe, then make changes to the play or eliminate it from the play book. If you notice they designed passing plays so that the receiver was always between the ball and the defender when caught. Steve Young went 2-14 at Tampa Bay and then went to SF and won a SB in that West Coast offense. He went to a really good team and learned under the best. Mike Homgren went on to mentor Brett Farve into the best QB to ever play in the NFL, JMO. Mike Shanahan was the SF OC for a while and then went to Denver and taught John Elway the WCO, it took a few years but the Bronco's won a SB. So yea, I think if Chan Gailey is even a decent offensive minded coach he can help Trent Edwards, along with Fitz and Brohm. Mostly because the Bills have lacked a legit offensive coordinator since Mike Mularkey. -
We the fans decided nothing, it was Jauron and his staff of clowns and their offensive ineptitude. The Bills haven't had a real offensive coordinator for 5 years and they have had one decent offensive mind for one year in the last ten. That is why the Bills have been 25th or worst on offense for ten years, lets hope Gailey can change that.
-
Dan LeFevour QB Central Michigan won't make it till the 3rd round, someone will take him in the 2nd or even the 1st round. There is a shortage of QB's with a decent rating in this years draft and some boards actually have this guy as the #1 QB ahead of Bradford because of Bradford's injuries, they just don't trust that shoulder.
-
Chan Gailey has been noted in the past to build a strong power running game, I'm hoping he continues that in Buffalo. If that Raven- Patriot wildcard playoff game didn't open some eyes in the Bills front office then nothing ever will.

Guys, If CJ Spiller is a special back like Chris Johnson / AD, the Bills should grab him and go for a LT in the second, trade for one, get a FA. Fred Jackson isn't gonna last forever at his age.

McNabb to the Bills for Picks?
thewildrabbit replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Will the Bills get to the super bowl with McNabb... If not... then why waste the time and picks on him! Do I think he is a top ten franchise QB...yes! Do I think he will accomplish anything besides winning a few more games for the next two years...no! At this point all the Bills need is a QB that can manage the game and not turn the ball over, they need to build a power running game like the Ravens and Jets currently have. -
Jason Peters...a little salt
thewildrabbit replied to BB Fan 4 LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree Most of the posters here were calling for a replacement for Peters in the draft...somewhere,anywhere in 1-7, for a replacement in free agency. Then they cut Walker just before the season starts and still don't bring in any replacement. Most of us here knew the line would be bad, the media knew the line would be bad, why didn't the coaches? Although its somewhat bittersweet with Michael Oher the Bills might have made the playoffs... but then Jauron would have been retained -
[closed]How can any Bills fan NOT want McNabb?
thewildrabbit replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Another McNabb thread, OK well... Nobody is denying that McNabb is a "franchise" top ten QB and the fact the Philly media and fans are eager to see him get traded away is Ludicrous. The guy has been the best thing to happen to that city since Jaws and Dick Vermeil, actually he is way better then Jaws. Trading for him might seem like a "no brainer" and It would be a "no brainer" IF the Bills were an established team like Minnesota and only lacking a QB, they are not. The Bills are about to start from scratch and rebuild the entire offensive and defensive schemes, they need players and lots of them. They need a starting LT, LB, WR, NT, just to start and could easily find all those and fit them in, if they keep all their draft picks and use them. Should the Bills make the trade it surely would incite Bills fans to purchase season tickets now wouldn't it? hrmmmm... Me personally, my take is... it would be a quick fix to an old problem, if Philly can't get back to the super bowl with McNabb, then how on earth could the Bills when they are 3 years or more behind the Eagles in development. The O line still needs repairing with no LT in sight just yet, and what if they draft another Mike Williams? The schemes need to be set up and all the players and coaches need to learn the schemes...2-3 years IMO. I'd rather see the Bills take a young QB and develop him, or if they feel Brohm can be the guy in two years, then state that and develop him. Drafting Clausen or Tebow might also incite the fans to buy tickets, who would you rather see in Buffalo? -
Jason Peters...a little salt
thewildrabbit replied to BB Fan 4 LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What gets me about the last incompetent coaching staff is that for the last 4 years they went into each season thinking the O line would play well. Every year they made player changes to the line and every year the O line under achieved. This last season was a failure on a monumental level, easily the worst line I've ever seen in Buffalo. Not the players fault either, they did their best. It was just an accumulation of lack of experience by the players, lack of experience of the line coach and injuries. Jauron had the frame of mind to throw a player into the fire as it is the only way he gets experience, total bullcrap. Chuck Knox was an ex O linemen himself and he knew that you need to develop players before you simply plug them in as starters and "think" they will play well. An example was Jim Richter who was drafted in the first round in 1980 pick #16 and Knox had the guy sit on the bench his first year while he learned and developed and played special teams. Richter went on to play guard for the Bills for 13 years and 2 more with the Falcons. Dunno why it took 4 years to fire the moron and his staff of buffoons... -

thewildrabbit replied to BB Fan 4 LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can you seriously blame the guy? He was doing great and made the pro bowl and the entire media was saying the Bills had the best young left tackle in the NFL. You guys can be bitter all you want, I still feel it was the front office to blame. Then some morons in the front office decided to upgrade the O line with Langston Walker and Derrick Dockery and they loaded up a dump truck full of money and paid those two overweight underachievers 2x as much as Peters was making. Peters was no dummy, he knew the second highest paid player on the team is left tackle after the QB. He also knew what the media was saying about him and he had made the pro bowl, the Bills only offensive player to do so in years. He wanted his salary equal to what other top left tackles were making, and more then the two other high priced linemen who stunk at their jobs. The Bills stonewalled him and created the bad feelings between the team and him, he held out and came in late to camp and still made the pro bowl. Got traded to Philly and made the pro bowl there, seems like a huge loss for the Bills, their fans, and the Idiots who started the mess to begin with as they were fired. -
My view of Brohm is he will be cut if the Bills add a veteran QB, JMO. For him to be waived by the Packers and then added to the practice squad tells me the Packers coaching staff thinks he needs a ton of development. After watching him in that Falcon game last season I didn't see anything great. The one deep throw to TO was very under thrown and intercepted, lots of dump offs.

thewildrabbit replied to BB Fan 4 LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody is denying the Peters trade, they are stating that Jauron the moron didn't draft a replacement, or even bring in a decent free agent. There had to be at least 4 decent free agent tackles he could have brought in last year after he cut Langston Walker. He cut Walker because he couldn't keep up with the no huddle offense they scrapped a few weeks later , what a joke of a coach. -
They hired a bunch of college coaches who will be learning how to do their job while doing their jobs. (uh oh learning curve) They are implementing two entirely new schemes on offense and defense that the players AND coaches need to learn. The only positive thing the team has going for it is that they have 2 somewhat experienced QB's in TE & Fitz and not some rookie who is starting from scratch.

McNabb to the Bills for Picks?
thewildrabbit replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly Old dog+new system+ inexperienced line and one WR = fail Just what the Bills need, another Drew Bledsoe... If Buddy Nix is really worth a damn at evaluating talent then those #2 & #3 picks could be the Bills starting LB & WR for the next ten years! Screw McNabb, if the team is rebuilding again... then draft someone to develop and learn under Chan Gailey. -
[closed]Reid says Eagles are getting offers for McNabb
thewildrabbit replied to bobcat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Call me crazy, but I wouldn't offer anything for the guy, he would just get killed behind a very inexperienced Bills O line. These Bills coaches don't have a ton of NFL experience and yet they have to implement a new system and scheme to players while learning themselves. The entire offense will be in a 2 year learning curve and by the time the Bills start to become a decent team... McNabb will be ready to retire... no thanks! I'd rather see them draft a young QB to develop and grow with the team and system over the next three years. -
