  1. After trading away Jason Peters last off season the entire world watched and waited for the Bills to draft a replacement or bring in someone in free agency, they didn't and the result was a disastrous season. The entire world was watching and waiting again for the Bills to draft that LT in round one or two this year, they didn't. Right now the entire world knows Bell / Wang is not the answer at LT and they are still waiting to see how free agency goes. If this new GM and coaching staff don't make any moves to upgrade the LT position, then they are no better then jauron and his staff of morons and will suffer their same fate.
  2. put down the crack pipe... Even when they were not hurt the line was stinking up the place, every game, nearly every play. The Bills O line fielded some of the worst in the entire NFL last season. Hangartner was the only linemen to play in all 16 games, he allowed 16 QB pressures-4 penalties-3 sacks-2 hits and was ranked 27th out of 34, he stunk. The entire O line was horrid last season, if the Bills FO doesn't find a decent LT from somewhere... then they will stink it up again this season, no QB will be safe.
  3. I say BS, he looked really good last season in the opener against the Patriots. A game the Bills win if they run the ball worth a damn at the end OR the rookie doesn't flub the KO. He looked good in several games in 08, like the win against Denver AT Denver, the several comeback games against the Chargers and Raiders, Rams. The problem with Edwards is he lost confidence in his O line and receivers, you get a concussion like the one he suffered in Arizona and then again last season, you start looking over your shoulder and hearing phantom footsteps. His receivers besides Lee Evans stunk, so many times a QB is supposed to trust his receivers will be open at a certain spot and as the ball needs to be in the air before the receiver breaks open, how many of those passes did you see Edwards throw... The last 4 years the Bills coaches were incompetent, inexperienced and downright moronic at times. Look at the way the Bills started the season by firing the OC two weeks before the season starts and then cuts and trades the best linemen. All three decent linemen from 08 Peters-Dockery-Walker were jettisoned and replaced by inexperienced players. Dockery's play greatly improved in Washington after he left Buffalo, better coaching! Walker was moved to guard and Jason Peters was rated 18th out of 77 players. All the Bills QB's sucked last season because the entire offense sucked, the scheme, the game plans, the coaching, the O line, the receivers. That is why all the coaches were fired, the receivers Reed and TO were dumped, and more cuts will come as the pre season ends and Gailey and Nix can see first hand how bad the players are. I cheered and rejoiced when Ralph Wilson fired dickhead jauron, now lets wait and see if Gailey can coach up what he has, and if this staff fails to bring in a decent LT in free agency...
  4. If you watched that game he started in last season, most of his throws were good except the deep ball to TO, which he under threw and was intercepted. Seems like he tired as the game went on and the balls came out weaker at the end. College is so much easier then the pro's, wish I had a dollar for every QB that looked great in school and then fell on his face at the NFL level. At Atlanta he went 17-29 146 yds 0 TD's 2 INTs, probably why they went back to Fritz the next game.
  5. Fitz didn't suffer another concussion... At this point I could really shiv two gits who is the QB this year because they won't be in any better shape then last years QB's. A speedy RB can't make his own holes and magically make the O line better. Basically the same crap players will be starting again this year... Bell 74 out of 77 Wood 65 out of 84 Hangartner 27 out of 34 Levitre 74 out of 84 Kirk Chambers-56 out of 77 Kyle Calloway-R Nick Hennessy-R Christen Gaddis-2 yrs Cornell Green-12 yrs 48 out of 74 Andre Ramsey-2 yrs Ed Wang-R Jason Waltkins-1yr Jamon Merdith Derrick Dockery was 41st in 08 while with the Bills, went to the Redskins and improved to 24th, better coaching? Lets face it, the weakest area of the team last season was the O line by far and all they did so far to upgrade the tackle position was to bring in Green who was mediocre with the Raiders last season and will probably regress as a Bill, and draft Ed Wang in the 5th round. So unless these new Bills coaches can pull a miracle outta their backsides (which I highly doubt) it won't matter who the starting QB is because he won't be a starter very long behind another crap O line. If the Bills go into this season with the current crop of players... you can expect them to be drafting #1 overall in the next draft and going for Andrew Luck-Jake Locker.
  6. Just Google the Baltimore Sun and search Jared Gaither, here is one article and I've read others talking about Gaither and his work ethic, or lack of. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/...0,6114595.story Gaither has consistently had to deal with these types of questions. After he was selected by the Ravens in the fifth round of the 2007 supplemental draft, Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen expressed his concern over Gaither's work ethic - which led to his losing his starting job with the Terrapins. "Sometimes he wouldn't work," Friedgen said in 2007. "I think I have to have some credibility there with my players. ... There were some days he didn't feel like practicing."
  7. The biggest problem with Gaither and Adams is the former is said to have a horrid work ethic and is lazy, the latter might just be at the end of his career. The question is, do the Bills have the coaches to get the best out of Gaither? Still, the Bills didn't want to pay Jason Peters top dollars and got a 1st round pick for him. Now they have a chance to bring in a player ranked 6th out of 77 for a #2 pick... Michael Oher was ranked 19th and Jason Peters was ranked 18th last season. They easily could have replaced Peters with Oher in the draft, they didn't and the result was a disastrous season. If they manage to trade for Gaither the Bills are serious contenders for a playoff spot this year IMHO, if not its business as usual at OBD.
  8. Normally I would agree with you on what the Ravens will do... however, I think there is hope the Bills can make a deal for Gaither. For some inexplicable reason the Bills seem to be sold on Bell at LT, Jauron's regime and now Gailey think the kid has enough talent to get the job done, I don't. He needs experience yes, but not at the price of losing games. Bills & Cowboys have expressed interest in Jared Gaither: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...-jared-gaither/ It's rare that a starting-caliber left tackle is available, since they're so hard to find. The problem for the Ravens is that they have two of them, and that they apparently believe 2009 first-rounder Michael Oher will become the better player, sooner rather than later. So the question becomes whether the Ravens will move him for whatever they can get, or whether they'll keep him for another year at a salary of $2.5 million, and then watch him leave as an unrestricted free agent. The Bills really scrood the pooch last season by letting Bell start at LT and not securing a decent FA, they also cut their own throat in an effort to save money when they cut Langston Walker who would have been light years better then anyone else at either LT or RT. I realize that Buddy Nix loves his draft picks... but he better realize that trading next years #2 for Jared Gaither will save this years season. His job as GM will be short lived if the Bills offense plays as badly as they did last year, and a speedy RB isn't going to open holes for himself or make that line magically better, a stud at LT will.
  9. You guys are crazy if you think Lee Evans won't be the starting #1 WR on the Bills this season. At this point there is no clear #2 WR from what I see, and as for the slot I would think CJ Spiller will be in that position more then anyone else. Just because the HC states he likes bigger receivers on the outside doesn't mean Evans will be moved inside.
  10. Before you all acclaim that the "sky is falling" realize the free agency is not over. I doubt most of the rookies will start at any position besides special teams. There is still a chance the Bills go after a decent LT. Also, I think if Chan Gailey is worth anything ...he can really help the offense improve from over the last 4 years. If the Bills record this season is abysmal it will most likely be because of the transition to the 3-4. Looking at the failure to address the O line and specifically the LT position, I think they will still win at least 6 games.
  11. As bad as the defense was against the run...like 30th out of 32 teams, at least the defense against the pass was #2 and the Bills were 19th overall total defense. The offense was 30th in total offense / yds per game, 30th in passing, 15th rushing. So looking at it from a stat standpoint the Bills need to stop the run and pass the ball better. So this draft should help both areas. Spiller can play WR in the slot and they added some decent players to the new 3-4.
  12. Have IQ's suddenly dropped since the draft? The reason JR is a complete failure is his complete lack of effort, he doesn't put forth any effort into his craft. Basically once he got the 45 million signing bonus he was another Mike Williams and had zero desire to be a great player. The last thing the Bills need is someone like him on the team
  13. I agree I was at first upset even thinking about taking another RB in the draft weeks ago when Charles Davis had him going to the Bills in his mock draft, I got over it once I started watching him play.. I think the Bills even tried to move up in the first round again to tab Brian Bulaga and then stopped trying once GB selected him, hence all the talk about the Bills going after Tim Tebow. The Bills took the best player available to them every round from what I saw. Spiller is going to put fear in the hearts of opposing defenses... just the thought of lining him up in the slot has got to scare the crap outta them. Have you guys ever watched him play ...? When the guy is 100% he is a blur and a game changer.
  14. From PFW and Nolan Nawrocki: http://www.profootballweekly.com/2009/12/1...yan-fitzpatrick Summary: A smart, serviceable backup quarterback most ideally suited for a dink-and-dunk, West Coast offense, Fitzpatrick has shown he can be effective in relief, leading the Bills to a victory against the Jets when he came off the bench in his first action of the season. He can be trusted to get a team through a game. However, he has not proven he can command an offense from the pole position and still too often shows up like a deer in headlights behind a battered offensive line, not showing the poise or decision-making desired in a front-line passer. He is the reason the Bills didn't go after a veteran QB like Jason Campbell, plus they want to give Trent Edwards another chance in a good offense, with a good play caller, with an improved O line and ONLY ONE guy telling him what to do. If you don't care to believe what I say: http://www.buffalonews.com/2010/04/25/1030...confidence.html
  15. Like Chan Gailey stated, what team doesn't need a guy like Spiller... Three teams come to mind that have a player as talented as Spiller, Cowboys with Felix Jones, Saints with Reggie Bush, Titans with Chris Johnson. The Bills drafted the most explosive player in the draft, no question, a play maker who can help the team move the flags and score. He can be used as a WR on the outside, in the slot, and RB. Yea I know they already have 2 good RB's in Jackson and Lynch, all 3 are different in their own way. Lynch is the power back, Jackson is elusive and Spiller has the speed. Obviously this coaching staff must feel they have enough young talent on the O line and they just need to keep them healthy with the proper conditioning, and give them better training while letting them get more experience. Think I'll wait and see how this new coaching staff sets up an offense and then runs it before I condemn what they have done so far.
  16. I tend to think the current coaching staff wants to see how Trent Edwards will play with ONE coach telling him what to do... a real OC calling plays... in a decent offensive system with an improved O line and running game. Now Gailey can develop Brohm and Brown and take his time doing just that. I also tend to think that Gailey wants to eventually open up the offense and run the spread which Brown excelled in at Troy.
  17. yea, at 4AM things are a tad blurry around here on the weekend...
  18. From Scout.com by Adam Caplan Levi Brown/QB/Troy St./Seventh Round/Buffalo Bills - Buffalo surprisingly waited until the seventh round to address the quarterback position. It could be that they want to give Trent Edwards another chance. Or it could be new coaching staff wants to take a longer look at Brian Brohm. The bottom line is the future at the quarterback for the Bills is unsettled. With Brown, Buffalo is getting an athletic quarterback with a good arm. Brown's big issue is that he tends to push the ball than firing it. That mechanical flaw is very fixable, according to several personnel evaluators. The Bills won't be asking Brown to play this season, but once the two other quarterbacks have their futures settled after this season, Brown could be moving up the ladder on the depth chart rather quickly. Marcus Easley/WR/Connecticut/Fourth Round/Buffalo Bills - Until his Senior season, Easley probably would have gone undrafted. But his final season at Connecticut opened the eyes of many NFL teams. Easley, who has good size, posted close to 50 receptions in his final season, but with over 18 yards/catch. What also boosted his draft value was a very good performance during the NFL Combine earlier this year. He posted a solid 4.40 in the 40-yard dash. His 10-yard and short shuttle times were also solid. Easley was fortunate to get drafted by a team which has big issues at receiver. The Bills open have one starting job set, so the rookie will have a chance to move up the depth chart quickly. Arthur Moats/OLB/Buffalo Bills/Sixth Round/James Madison - Moats played defensive end in college, but will transition to the outside linebacker position at the NFL level with the Bills. Moats is considered small by NFL standards, but has 33 3/4 inch arms. Having long arms is a good trait to have for a pass rusher. Some personnel evaluators have likened Moats to Pittsburgh Steelers OLB James Harrison--a smaller player who has a great motor and is hard to keep off the quarterback. http://profootball.scout.com/2/965414.html
  19. He would help... I'm not certain this Bills coaching staff and GM are aware of just how bad the O line was last year. Sort of disappointed they didn't take a C-OT-G with that #2
  20. Every site you log into for NFL football will soon have grades for all the teams, just some insight from two NFL scouts / analysts about what the Bills did in the draft. According to some analysts the Bills two greatest needs were QB and OT and the addressed them very late in the draft. Hearing from those two (Cory Chavous & Charles Davis) gave me hope the Bills really did well this draft.
  21. NFL Network asked Charles Davis and Cory Chavous what they think the Bills did in this draft, Davis gave the Bills a C+ and Chavous gave them an A. Davis thought Spiller was a great pick but that Troup was a 3-4th rd pick, tho he said he absolutely loves Ed Wang and Levi Brown. Cory stated the Bills got the most explosive player in this years draft with Spiller He also stated he loved the Levi Brown pick. Mentioned he really likes Batten and Moats and Easley. Said good job Buffalo! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike Mayock, NFL Network A couple of quick thoughts on some seventh round picks as we get started early in this round. Buffalo finally got a QB in Levi Brown from Troy. I believe he's been undervalued all along. He was invited to the Combine, but only as a throwing QB, not a participant. I liked him on tape, and feel like he has a chance to be a very solid backup QB. http://chat.nfl.com/front/index/883 Mike Mayock, NFL Network 192 -- Bills -- DE Danny Batten The Bills' makeover to a 3-4 defense continues with this pick. In the second round they took Troupe, in the third round they took five-technique Carrington, and then with the last two picks they've gone to small school conversion outside linebackers. Batten from SDSU is an undersized, quick, try-hard edge rusher whose motor never stops. I've never seen more college DEs who are candidates for 3-4 conversions in one draft in my life.
  22. I can see Gailey using Spiller as a slot receiver and 3rd down back in the Reggie Bush mold. Lynch is the freight train, Fred Jackson is the Jaguar, Spiller is the Lamborghini
  23. Which is why I didn't watch them at all, screw paying for their draft news and the "insider". NFL network had much better coverage Anyway, the Bills had a need at WR,lets see what the kid can do
  24. He is head and shoulders better then anything the Bills currently have
