  1. I honestly think he purposely tanked and missed FG's in training camp so he could join the Steelers
  2. To add to the Bledsoe situation in Buffalo, it always got me that instead of getting him more line support and finding ways to give him more time to throw, they tried to change him. The OC was instructed to make Bledsoe have a counter in his head to get rid of the ball within 3-4 seconds, old dog and new tricks takes time. It was noted among almost every NFL team that once Bledsoe was hit a few times and rattled he didn't play well after that, so they kept up the heavy blitzes and he would play poorly. The thing is he had a huge arm and was accurate, If he had good protection and got into a rhythm he would tear the opposing defense a new one, its a shame the Bills couldn't figure out how to protect him better or run more often to take pressure away from him.
  3. That game wasn't all Bledsoe's bad play, the entire team choked. Particually the defense in stopping unknown RB Willie Parker. The fact that the Bills starters were humiliated by the Steeler's backups was pretty sad, and if the Bills win that game they have a shot at the playoffs. To me, I think it was more of the pressure to start JP that Big ben caused because he was playing great for the Steelers and the had Bills moved up to take JP with a first round pick. They badly wanted him to play as well as big ben was playing.
  4. Two players come to mind. First, Pat Williams. He was an undrafted free agent and wanted to stay in Buffalo, the defense against the run hasn't been even close to the same as it was when he played here. Huge loss for Buffalo and huge gain for Minnesota. Second, Antoine Winfireld. Another player who wanted to stay in Buffalo. How many CB's have the Bills gone thru since he left? Dick Jauron might not have wasted so many draft picks on DB's had the team kept him. One of the best CB's against the run and his presence has been missed almost as much as Pat Williams. There are other players who have left the Bills and went on to have success with other teams but not like those two, both have played great for their new team. Williams 3x pro bowls 2006-07-08 Winfield 2x pro bowl 2008-09 I can see the Vikings getting to the SB this year and I'll be rooting for those two to get their rings.
  5. The Dolphins are the one team I still love to hate and hope the Bills beat them at least in Buffalo, it makes my year. I still remember the decade of the 70's when the Bills didn't win a single game against them that entire time!
  6. Was just stating a fact that leads me to think that the Bills could have hired Gailey as the OC and found a different HC. Like I've stated, I remain skeptical at this point that he will prove to be a HC that can get this team into the playoffs in this division. And yea, he is a huge improvement offensively over anyone the bills have had the last 4 years.
  7. Thanks, we seem to be in the minority around here. The more I watch and listen to Chan Gailey the more I think he might just have a shot to accomplish something here in Buffalo, he seems to be saying all the right things. Its the player moves that I question, or should I say lack of player moves. The guy did manage to get the Dolphins into the playoffs back in 2000-2001 with QB Jay fiedler and RB Lamar Smith no less, but again he was only the OC.

  9. Some coaches are meant to coach to a particular level in the NFL, and fail if they over reach their ability, Bills fans have first hand knowledge of this fact Mularkey-Williams et al. Every coach when called upon for an interview for a job usually goes in with a plan on exactly how he will build the team into a winning program, Cowher stated he would hire Chan Gailey as his OC. The fact that Gailey was fired as the Chiefs OC and then spent the year out of football, plus the fact that the Bills are heading into this season with nearly the exact same O line as last season leads me to think this guy isn't meant to be a HC in the NFL again. The sad part is it might take 1-3 years for most of the fans and RW to figure this out. The red flags are up and flying and not many are noticing them because everyone is so desperate for a winner, plus the fact they have no control and no choice but to go along with who was hired and let him prove himself. As a Bills fan I really want this guy to turn this team around and get them back into respectability, I just don't see it happening from some of the moves he has made so far. The position coaches he hired, the players drafted, the free agents. You guys can drink all the Nix-Gailey kool aid you want, I'm going to remain skeptical.
  10. yea well, the point is clearly the coaches wanted to see what he could do given the opportunity since Edwards and Fitz were both injured. Brohm wasn't exactly horrible, but he did look like someone who needed much more time to develop, hence the reason the Bills started Fitz who was still nursing an injury. Everybody seems to be gushing about how much better Brohm is over both Edwards and Fitz, I didn't see it last year and I still don't see it.
  11. I agree with most everything the OP stated, I just don't get this 3 year rebuilding plan when the team has been rebuilding for a decade after every new head coach hire. Look at Shanahan in Wash, he goes out and gets his QB, drafts a OT with the #1 pick and then trades for another OT to build up the basics his first year there. The Redskins are also switching to a 3-4 from a 4-3. One of Marv Levy's first statements to the media was "we want to get as good as we can, as fast as we can", and those late 80's Bills did get very good, very quickly. I can understand not addressing the QB position this year. I just don't get not addressing the OT and WR positions eariler then #4 & #5 and no OLT trade or FA just leaves me with that same sinking feeling as I felt last year with Jauron. I only wonder if Gailey and Nix will endure their 3 year plan once the losses start adding up.
  12. I wouldn't say Brohm is unproven, he started last year against Atlanta when Fitz and Edwards were injured. Now if I'm not mistaken Atlanta had one of the worst secondary's at the time and had some players injured. 17-29 -146 yards 2 INT's 2 sacks, the Bills lost 31-3 Needless to say with Fitz still nursing an injury they started him over Brohm in the next game, kinda says something to me.
  13. Considering the offensive limitations Edwards had to endure in the Jaron regime is it any wonder guys like you focus on just the QB. Your boy Brohm will get his chance to prove he is better then Edwards this training camp
  14. So who is this brilliant coach who is going to properly develop the O line players, set up line protections and teach these young players everything they will need to learn to become top players...oh right, the assistant line coach from KC who is now the Bills line coach. Yea well, I'm not convinced this years O line will be any better then last years, but that's me.
  15. The thing that was so great about Montana is that he could move the chains and get first down after first down with that short controlled passing game. Dwight Clark was so instrumental in those first few years as the possession receiver, kinda like what Tom Brady has now with Wes Welker. That "go to" possession receiver for the Bills the last few years has been Josh Reed, I doubt the Bills will miss him.
  16. Edwards when properly protected and given a decent game plan has shown to be remarkably effective and heads above the rest, the problem is the new regime didn't fix the line, so even if he wins the starting job...he loses.
  17. Who is the current president of the Buffalo Bills, Is he anything like the president the Colts? Lets face it, we all love the guy...but the team is screwed because he won't hire someone like Polian or Ozzie Newsome.
  18. All I gotta say is... look at the O linemen drafted since 2002 You can make a case for Wood and Levitre, but will they ever become top players at their positions as they were #1 & #2 draft picks?
  19. So have I, as I watched him play against Atlanta... I'll be surprised if he makes the team. But then, what the heck do I know
  20. Because they spent a #2 draft pick on the guy?
  21. Don'tcha love it when people hate the starter so much they manufacture stuff in their heads...some of these previous posts get me. Whomever starts or finishes this year at QB, no QB on the roster will do a good enough to get the Bills a winning season simply because they won't have enough support around them to help them win. So far this new Bills head coach has shown me he isn't any better then Jauron in terms of the O line. If this guy is so good as a offensive mind... then how can he go into the season knowing his offense will be limited to mostly 3 step drop passing plays. Every time the Bills need to throw deep in a critical situation they will fail just like last season simply because the QB's won't have more then 3 seconds to throw. No team can run an effective offense without the threat of a big play from the deep passing game. Last year Jauron the moron brought in TO to have an effective second deep threat along with Lee Evans. Then he destroyed the ability to throw deep after he trades away Jason Peters and cuts Walker-Dockery and ends up with scrubs at both tackle positions. So basically when this years team gets behind in a game and the opposing defense knows the Bills will need to throw to win... and they have no deep game, what then?
  22. Just because a guy is #3 on the depth chart at QB doesn't mean he is worthless. CW only has two games under his belt at SD and could still be developing, going into his fourth year now isn't he? Looking at the QB situation in Seattle the last few years it makes sense for them to get some decent depth at QB considering how often Matt Hasselbeck is injured. Props to JP if he ends up taking that job in Seattle.
  23. You guys can stop dreaming, Nix isn't going to give up his "precious" draft picks for any players. Clearly he and Gailey think that Bell can get the job done...
  24. Meanwhile, Nix sits on his hands holding on to his precious draft picks while someone at OBD has the FO convinced that Bell can do the job at LT. I watched him play last season and when it really counted, he really was bad. I think that sometime during the 4th QTR of the first game the Nix/Gailey old boy connection will crap their pants in unison as they watch the Bills QB unable to perform and save the game as he is under to much duress from both ends. Their failure to address the positions that everyone knew needed to be addressed will more then likely get them both fired, JMO.
  25. Brown will sign his RFA tender of $3.619 million, and extension talks may begin down the line. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Saints' compensation hinges on the Donovan McNabb trade. If McNabb makes the Pro Bowl, or the Redskins win nine games or make the playoffs, the Eagles receive a third-round pick and the Saints get a fourth. If none of those happen, the Eagles will get the fourth-round pick and the Saints get the third-rounder. http://www.rotoworld.com/Content/playernews.aspx?sport=NFL
