  1. Spiller will be Buffalo's Reggie Bush and then some... If the Bills are going to be a dominate running team I would think Jackson and Lynch will be the workhorses and Spiller the change of pace, but more then just a 3rd down back
  2. Teams usually play the starters longer in preseason game 3 to prepare for the regular season, then most starters sit out the 4th game so the coaching staff can get a long look at the backups and figure out who to keep and who to release. I'm pretty sure we will all get a long look at Brohm next week, the fact that he didn't play much in the 3rd game doesn't mean he will be cut as teams need 3 QB's on the roster who actually have a chance to win for them. Brown didn't play at all, so what can you take from that?
  3. You don't know those things will happen, all you c an do is hope they do. I recall wachting last years line and the later it got in the game the worse the O line played. The Bills are facing three playoff caliber teams in their own division. I'd honestly like what your saying to be true, in reality I don't see those tackles holding any block for more then 3 seconds in the fourth QTR. So if it gets to 3rd and long I simply don't see the Bills having much success with any of the current QB's as none will have time to throw deep.
  4. I would disagree, a team can still be horrid pass blocking while being 1/2 way decent at run blocking as was last seasons Bills. Whats a 1000 yards out of a 16 game season anyway, 62.5 yards a game... big woop. Fred Jackson got most of those yards on his own after first contact IMO. Last years tackles folded like wet cardboard when it counted most and I don't see much improvement at this point. Just wait until these guys need to play 60 minutes and then watch what they do in the 4th quarter when the game is on the line and the team needs to make a 3rd and long.
  5. When Bill Polian was hired as GM he stated "we were 2-14 on merit because we have the worst personnel in the NFL" . Polian built most of that O line in Buffalo just like he has built a solid O line for the Colts, last time I looked he was still in Indy. I would say there is no way that Eric Wood is anywhere near equal to a 6 year vet Jim Ritcher at this point in his career, Andy Levitre and Wood are about the only bright spots on the line right now and both still have a long way to go before they are considered top players at their positions, a long way. This team still needs two new tackles and a center, I don't see anyone at those positions on the current roster that can ever play up to the level of the late 80's early 90's Bills linemen. The "Bickering Bills" got their nickname from 1989 from infighting among the players, an incident that occurred in a 1990 Miami game caused all the bickering to stop, In week 2 Buffalo traveled to the new home of the Miami Dolphins- Joe Robbie stadium. Buffalo's 6 game winning streak against the Dolphins came to a thundering halt. Miami ran off 30 consecutive points in 30 minutes. Midway through the 4th quarter, Levy pulled his starters when the game was out of hand, but many on the defense refused to come out of the game. Those defensive players knocked over the Gatorade table and were talking trash and throwing things around, The result were fines to Bruce Smith, and DB's Leonard Smith, Kirby Jackson, and Nate Odomes.Marv stated that kind of behavior would not be tolerated. Ralph Wilson came out and also stated that any player who didn't want to play for Marv would be removed from the team. The result of Wilson backing up Marv was to unify the team and they went on a tear, only losing one more game on MNF while on their way to the SB. Currently the Bills have 2 decent guards and one of those could be moved to center... from my view the Bills still need 2 tackles, and another center / guard plus a blocking TE like Pete M who was considered an O linemen who could catch. Then they might someday have an O line equal to those amazing Bills of the late 80's early 90's
  6. I agree, Jauron was so ignorant about the offense and the QB's. You could tell he thought a QB should carry an offense by themselves, rather then build an offense around them with proper support. Which btw is something that still concerns me about the current Bills offense... considering protections can't have changed that much since last season. Basically the same O line and a less experienced O line coach. I suppose we will need to wait and see If Gailey can coach up both the QB's and tackles.
  7. I gotta admit I'm starting to buy into what Chan Gaily is doing and saying, particularly regarding Trent Edwards. Although you guys gotta remember he has been in and around the NFL in many capacities and knows in the ins and outs of the HC-OC, and I have to wonder if his doing so many jobs will wear him to thin. Even though I'm still certain the team needs a pair of tackles, I'm pulling for the guy to get the team a winning record THIS YEAR
  8. I agree, I've seen him get owned in critical situations I don't know where these guys get this stuff, it may take 2 years for him to fully develop.
  9. Ok I now have a man crush on Chan Gailey Telling the fans if you heckle one of us you heckle all of us...not gonna take crap from hecklers gotta love it.
  10. I honestly think RW holds on to the Bills to make a profit as a business, winning is secondary...sadly
  11. I'd have to say more then two, perhaps only two if those are both a left and right tackle... but then they are still in need of a top TE- top 2nd WR- top OLB- two DE.
  12. I honestly wish Gailey would start Brohm...so you guys would see what I see. That although Brohm started out strong he faded the more he played, and I don't see him as ready just yet. He would have more trouble IMO because he would be facing first string players and not backups that won't even make the final roster. "If" he did play great his entire time behind center then let him start again.
  13. Exactly, he seemed to fade the more he played and against guys who might not even make the Colts final roster.
  14. I suppose most of you guys missed the play where Edwards gets his helmet knocked off and chips a tooth... Now just think how good the offense could be this year had the Bills invested early draft picks in 2 tackles instead of the crap they put on the field. As well as the offense played don't get too giddy because If manning plays that entire game its a different outcome, not to mention many starters on the Colts O line were out with injuries.
  15. Enjoy the play, now just think if he had that much time every down to make that throw...
  16. Green will get better as he gains experience....oh wait
  17. I honestly hope Brohm wins the starting job and plays well and the Bills start winning! Because Trenty doesn't look so good atm. The reality will be is that Edwards will start, Brohm will replace him at some point for a few games and you all will realize what I already know... NO QB is going to play well behind the worst O line in the NFL
  18. In one of my posts I stated that the Redskins would be much more improved this season vs the Bills and got flamed for it. I think most posters honestly thought the Bills would be in so much better shape once Jauron was fired and a new offensive minded HC was hired. What they didn't realize is...Shanahan has won super bowls as a HC and been to other SB's as an OC, his DC is an ex player and an ex head coach himself. That Redskin coaching staff is far superior to the Bills staff in almost every way. Dick Jauron was a moron in certain areas but a great leader and HC to his players, they played tough for him. If anything his teams lacked great schemes, Tampa 2 and Mike Martz offense are out dated schemes that teams have figured out how to beat. Chan Gailey needs to get his "pistol" offense working asap, coach up his QB's, and let his DC worry about the defense. Even though many fans here have stated they don't mind going through a rebuilding year, somehow I don't think Bills fans can suffer a record worse then 6-10 and will want Gailey fired.
  19. There was a thread posted about how bad the scouting dept has been the past 8 years that Modork has been leading them. Considering how many good O linemen have been drafted since 2002 I'm amazed the guy has managed to keep his job this long... Somebody somewhere has miss-lead this coaching staff about the talent they have on the O line, and they will probably pay with their jobs.
  20. It might just be that those elite QB's actually have more then one decent receiver to throw to, and have a decent offensive scheme to play in. Your right tho, in that no team has a perfect O line, but Tom Brady and Payton Manning are among the least sacked QB's in the NFL, and when they do get under great pressure they tend to play like...Trent Edwards Brady and the Pats went undefeated 16-0 until they get overwhelmed by that NYG pass rush in the SB, Manning getting blitzed by Greg Williams defense in the SB The Bills had absolutely the worst O line in the NFL by far last season, and sadly Nix / Gailey basically ignored that unit and the entire team will suffer this year for it!
  21. Because the QB's practice practice practice in OTA's, mini camps and training camp, with Edwards getting first string reps you would think he would be the most improved under Gaileys coaching... I didn't see any improvement did you? We are not talking the mechanics that players like Levi Brown and Tim Tebow need to work on, as Edwards and Fitz are ok in that dept, we are talking plays and schemes to get the receivers open and allow the QB's to hit them. I didn't see any improvement in the offense, it may as well have been AVP or Turk Schonert calling the offensive plays. Perhaps Gailey is running a vanilla offense just to get the players the reps needed for the start of the season. Even so the offense should have played much better then they did... as DJ and his staff of clowns is no longer the excuse.
  22. ""Gailey is the right coach at the right time for the Bills."" I remain skeptical and apprehensive about that statement because so far I just don't see it. What the team desperately needed after Jauron was an influx of better schemes, both offensive and defensive. We were all hoping that when a new offensive minded HC was hired he would completely revamp the play book and significantly change the offensive scheme. So far I haven't seen that change, and more to the point...the QB's and offense looks basically the same as last season. I realize it was only one preseason game but I think we all expected better play from the offensive passing game.
  23. I'm not ok with it either... considering it takes 2-3 years for an O linemen to develop as well as the QB. I'd prefer to establish a decent O line and ground game before drafting the franchise QB to keep him protected while he learns and develops some confidence instead of letting him get beaten up every play. This is a win now league, the Bills defense was way better talent wise last season then the offense, and could have waited another year for a NT and LB.
