  1. First off I didn't make any comments about the Bills defense, I highlighted the other posters statements about the offense. Anyone who doesn't think Fitz lost that game against the Patriots is in denial, an INT in the end zone and another with 5 min to go. That's what he does, that's why he didn't get 1st string, he will always throw as many INT's as TD's, everyone stated this all off season, everyone knew he could be wildly inaccurate at times. I imagine Gailey will have Brian Brohm starting before to many more games. My problem is cutting Edwards after only two games, particularity when you have a rookie O line coach calling protections still learning his job, and the entire team learning a new offense. Fitz may very well play decently against the Jets pass rush, I kinda doubt it though.... It should be interesting to see if that O line and Fitz play as well as they did against the Pats. All I gotta say is the Bills could have easily beaten the Patriots last year with Edwards as QB, he played well in that game,. It was the rookie DB and the offense's lack of being able to run the ball to kill the clock that lost that game
  2. I say to that BS, neither Gailey nor Nix fixed the O line in the off season, all they did to upgrade that line was to bring in RT Cornell Green who is actually worse then Langston Walker. So while LT Bell learns his position and the O line goes through a learning curve on protection schemes with a new O line coach, Edwards paid the price. I get it, all the fans are ecstatic now that Edwards is gone. Just give me this pitch about how the Bills are better off without him after the Jets game, and then again after the Ravens and Steeler games.
  3. That might have been the case with the Jets, who knows. The Jags on the other hand are actually desperate for an experienced NFL QB to back up Garrard and jumped at the chance to pick up Edwards off waivers to light a fire under their QB who is stinking up the place the last two weeks, or actually bench him. The QB situation in Jacksonville is different then the Jets, Jacksonville had a decent backup until he suffered an injury that put him on IR. Since then the Jags have pulled 3 guys off the streets, 2 are on the practice squad and the 3rd is a 38 year old has been HC Jack Del Rio words: "Todd Bouman is a guy who knows our system, and he's here as our backup right now," Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said Tuesday on Sirius NFL Radio's "Movin' the Chains" (via ProFootballTalk.com), "but to have a guy who has a chance to go forward beyond just next week and the rest of this season, but beyond that as a prospect, it's a little bit like adding a draft pick, and so we're excited to have him aboard." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81ae99c0/article/jaguars-claim-exbills-qb-edwards-put-heat-on-garrard?module=HP_headlines My take, the Bills are idiots for cutting a team captain and a 4 year vet QB with starting experience after only two games, but hey...it made the fans here happy The Jags fans are all clamoring after the rookie QB's coming out in this up coming draft just like Bills fans are
  4. Excellent post Ya know what is even more scary then the fact that Bills fans don't take the opponent into consideration when judging Buffalo Bills player performances, its when the head coach makes the same sort of determination. OMG! Fitz played so much better against the Pats then Edwards did in his first two games... The fans all rejoice the slaying of the inept QB... little do they realize that the HC could have pulled an ineffective QB at any time during the first two games. It would have been interesting to see Fitz encounter the exact same problems that Edwards encountered! The first game, the Dolphins started out run blitzing and spying Spiller to shut the rookie down first thing, much to their surprise the Bills O line was so bad that they could get to Edwards in around 2-3 seconds, so they kept blitzing. I watched and counted from the snap to release and Edwards had 2-3 seconds max to get rid of the ball in those first few series. In the 3rd play of the first series the OLB on the left came untouched and sacked hard from the blindside in 2 seconds! On the next series Edwards gets rid of the ball in 2 seconds and he is slammed to the ground immediately after completing the pass for a first down, again the defender came untouched from the left side I could go on and on about all the little details about how the offense was totally ineffective most of that Miami game, like how many times did we see the RB's get hit in the backfield as soon as they got the hand off or as soon as they touched the ball on a screen pass, check down pass. That showed the O line blocking and protections were horrible in both the Miami and GB games. The game plans stunk, the Bills were in the shotgun 75% of the time against the Dolphins, telling them that they were going to pass and daring them to stop them. The HC never changed anything until 8 min in the 4th QTR and the offense drove right down the field and scored. It was funny watching the post game interview as Gailey couldn't explain how they became so successful on that last drive. The Bills were obviously better against the Patriots simply because the Patriots have the 27th ranked defense, have a bad pass rush and a bunch of rookies playing in their defensive secondary. The offensive line and protections didn't miraculously improve because of the QB change, it improved because they played a team with an inferior defense Bottom line, this is all water under the bridge, the head coach made his bed and now gets to sleep in it ... I count the days. So many blinded by the hope of something new and different is better. I'm certain many opinions will change along the course of the season, Jets- Ravens-Steelers will show the most
  5. UPDATE: ""The only other team that put in a claim for Edwards was the New York Jets, a source told ESPN Senior NFL Analyst Chris Mortensen, but the Jaguars were awarded the former Bills quarterback on the basis of their 1-2 record."" http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5626649 Clearly the Jags needed a backup QB with NFL experience, I doubt the Jags will pull what the Jets wanted to do...sign the guy and pick his brain till they play the Bills, then cut him.
  6. Jags got him on waivers
  7. He might actually clear waivers.... Linky about the 49ers http://www.rotoworld...e=183813&spln=1 If he clears waivers he is then free to go where he wants Amidst all the speculation Gailey stated he released Edwards based on Fitz's performance against the Patriots, aaannnnddd what happens when Fitz craps the bed against the Jets-Ravens-Steelers? Bills re-signed QB Levi Brown. Coach Chan Gailey made the determination that he wasn't going to turn back to Trent Edwards after Ryan Fitzpatrick's Week 3 performance. Gailey will carry the seventh-round pick as a developmental quarterback instead, pushing Brian Brohm into the No. 2 role.
  8. Not only that, what gets me is everyone defending him after he brings in Green to upgrade the O line. This is the man who going to be calling the shots for next years drafting of a franchise QB...Ryan Leaf here we come
  9. ""The Lions, Browns and Panthers didn't put in a waiver claim on free agent QB Trent Edwards, so the winless 49ers can have him if they want him, according to NFL.com's Jason La Canfora."" http://twitter.com/J...tus/25797077307 ""The Niners and Seahawks have been reported to have interest in the former Bill. If Edwards is claimed by San Francisco, it's possible he could challenge Alex Smith for the starting job at some point this season."" http://www.rotoworld....aspx?sport=NFL http://profootballta...-trent-edwards/ We will know by 4PM today who will end up with Trinty, most likely the 0-3, 49ers... Jeez, outta the frying pan and into the fire....
  10. Yea, the same guy who signed RT Cornell Green for 3 mil per to upgrade the O line... I'm holding my breath for his next acquisition
  11. I'm thinking they are looking around the league for a viable backup QB, if they can't find anyone they like I think they will re sign QB Levi Brown
  12. WE ? Your not the Bills, your just a fan like the rest of us, and everyone one of us is entitled to an opinion. I made my opinion known because I can see this team losing many many more games because the Idiot kept Edwards all off season, all preseason, gave him the most reps as the other QB's watched. Never upgraded the O line at all, and in fact made it worse with the addition of Cornell Green. talk again after the Jets game, after the Ravens game, after the Steelers game But you are correct that there are some Idiot posters
  13. I'm not entirely certain as to why Gailey would defend the guy...you dog one of us, you dog all of us and then lose complete faith in him so quickly that he goes from starting to released. I can only surmise that Gailey thinks that Edwards is a coward and can't abide a coward or something to that effect. Until Gailey proves me wrong by winning games I'm declaring him the latest buffoon, in a long list of failed Bills head coaches. Fitz played better then Edwards did for the simple reason the Patriots defense is nowhere near as good as either the Dolphins or the Packers, I think everyone will see how well Fitz plays against a tough blitzing team when the Bills play the Jets this week,. Irregardless of how I get flamed en mass by the hoard of Trent haters, The guy did only have 2 seconds to get rid of the ball against the two teams he played, whereas Fitz easily had 3 + seconds and at times no defender near him when he released. Edwards was getting slammed after 2 seconds on most passing plays. I place Edwards failing against Miami and GB as Gaileys lack of piss poor game plan. Edwards in shotgun 75% of the time against Miami was basically telling Miami we are going to throw try and stop us, and they did exactly that!, Spiller not being able to run the ball. How many times did we see Spiller- Jackson-Lynch getting hit by a Miami defender as they were given the hand off, I suppose that was Edwards fault also. The Bills were also actually able to run the ball effectively against the Patriots and thus Fitz didn't face the third and long or the blitzes that Edwards faced. That Bills O line didn't miraculously become better because of a QB change, they played better because the defense they faced was far inferior to the ones they faced with GB and Miami. The Patriots have a poor pash rush and a bunch of rookies in their secondary 27th ranked defense, even the Bills have the better defense 22nd ranked defense. I just can't wait to see the Bills play the Jets- Ravens-Steelers Buffalo might actually win some games this year if they keep facing 27th ranked defenses, but then again fitz might just keep killing them with his INT's. I hope Brohm has been studying that playbook To outright release the guy seems like a real boneheaded thing to do, something Jauron would do
  14. The Chiefs get first crack at him due to the poorest record last season, then Seattle Two teams that could really use him and he might just start in a few weeks are Carolina and Jacksonville This does seem eerily reminiscent of dumbo cutting his RT and OC two weeks before the season started, this years idiot coach just might have topped last years idiot coach
  15. Trent Edwards won't be out of work very long as there are already teams lining up to sign him... http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast NY Jets- Carolina Panthers-Kansas City Chiefs-Jacksonville Jaguars- Seattle Seahawks ...and even the New England Patriots might have in interest in him as they only have an inexperienced Brian Hoyer as the only player on the roster behind Tom Brady Finished last season: Chiefs 4-12 Seahawks 5-11 Jaguars 7-9 Panthers 8-8 Jets 9-7 Patriots 10-6 His 1.6 mill per year as a back up wouldn't be that big a deal for other teams http://blogs.nfl.com...le=HP_headlines "I can see Edwards in Jacksonville," Kirwan wrote. "The Jags were getting set to bench David Garrard last week but the backup, Josh McCown got hurt and is out for the season. Garrard played poorly again this week." (Note: Later this afternoon, the Jaguars signed backup QB Keith Null.) Could the Bills be facing Trent Edwards as the Jags starting QB in two weeks? The one team not mentioned is the Cleveland Browns, all their current QB's stink and Edwards would be an upgrade IMO Kinda funny that Edwards could end up on any one of the teams that the Bills face this season, the only teams mentioned that the Bills don't play are Seattle and Carolina
  16. My take dog is.... that now they realize that fitz is always gonna be fitz and throw as many stupid INT's asTD's The team is preparing to give Brohm an honest shot at QB before to long to see if they need to draft the franchise QB next year Gailey or grampy Ralph could have called this shot as it would be kind stupid to keep Edwards at 3rd string and pay him 1.6 mil.. I can't hardly wait for the Jets game, then the Ravens and Steelers to see how that O line protects Fitz or Brohm...
  17. Yea, that is why they voted him a captain on the offense... This move clearly shows me that the FO didn't wanna pay him 1.6 mill to be 3rd on the depth chart, Chan might just have cut his own throat with this move... sok by me P.S. If you want to send a message to the team that bad play is unacceptable... cut that overweight complete waste of a roster spot Cornell Green
  18. What most of the homers don't get is that 2 of the 3 games play could have been won this season if not for some rather stupid moves and lack of moves by the GM / HC already. Nobody has yet defended Nix's bringing in Cornell Green because they know he scrood the pooch and that guy is a complete waste of a roster spot at 3 mil per. C'mon guys, honestly it doesn't make you nervous at all that he wants to resign Kelsay and he paid 3 mill to Green? This is the guy who will be selected the next franchise QB. Nix could have given up a 3rd rounder to the Saints for experienced pro bowler Jammal Brown. The not resigning Incognito was a stupid move also, move Wood to center and the interior of the line is drastically improved and the QB now has a pocket to step up into when the Bills play teams with really good defenses
  19. These coaches are idiots, and starting to make jauron look brilliant. They had the entire off season and 3 years of game tape to evaluate and then cut him after two games. I count the days till this set of boneheads is fired...does it never end
  20. You write a brilliant post about how bad the O line is and then almost retract it a week later, the only thing that changed was Fitz played against the 27 ranked Patriot defense that has a weak pass rush and bunch of rookies in the defensive backfield The Bills O line played somewhat better because they faced an inferior defense, Green still had 2 costly penalties and Bell had one. The Patriots didn't blitz anywhere nearly as much as the previous two teams, not to mention the Bills were able to move the ball on the Pats on the ground, something they didn't do enough of against the Dolphins or the Pack One year I watched Phil Simms and the NY Giants go up to play Seattle, where Simms was sacked 7 times and intercepted 5 times, needless to say the Giants were blown out.... that same year Simms goes to the SB and gets MVP Ya know what, That Bills O line didn't miraculously improve because of the QB change, perhaps you will see that in the up coming game against the Jets... I KNOW you will see it when the Bills face the Ravens and Steeler's
  21. All good points Weakest area of the team last season by far was the O line, the fact that Nix brought in Cornell Green to play RT and pays him 3 mil tells me he is clueless on judging right tackle talent. So what does this tell me about this GM's ability to judge other talent...it scares the hell out of me that he will be overseeing next years draft I get that so many are OK with rebuilding the team through the draft, what I don't get is that to him Green was the best value out there to upgrade the O line? This team still needs a RT-C-QB-OLB-TE and I'm still not sold on Bell at LT So In Buddy nix's own words, he is going to get some sleep while free agency starts...so yea, he did sit on his ass and waste a year
  22. No, its more about the pressure of the situation, he throws an INT into the end zone... he throws an INT with 5 min to go and the game on the line. Most QB's get over excited when they first enter a game and tend to have balls sail on them because they are a tad over hyper, this guy tends to feel the pressure of the game and his passes get away from him. That big brain is giving him paralysis by analysis, he needs to stop thinking about it and just do it.
  23. Which begs the questions...how does this team go into the season with no upgrades on the Line or at QB, this coaching staff had all off season to evaluate what they had ....with no the lack of improvement on the O line alone has cost this team two games. The Patriots have a very poorly rated defense at this point #27th, even Buffalo has a better defense. I simply don't see the Bills beating the Jets with that defense of theirs, although they might have a shot against the Jags, and IF they beat them they go into the bye week at 1-4 While I agree with you that the fans will quickly turn on fitz if he doesn't put the W's in the win column, what then...Brian Brohm?
  24. Completely wrong, Stupar and Nelson wouldn't ever make the Patriots team much less their bench or practice squad, wanna talk mediocre... lets talk the Buffalo Bills scouts-scouting dept Its not only the tight end position the scouts have failed at, its just about every position on the team. the defensive secondary is stocked because Jauron continually drafted those with early picks If ya think I'm wrong look at JP Losman #1 -John McCargo #1 -Aaron Maybin #1 http://www.databasefootball.com/draft/draftteam.htm?tm=BUF&lg=NFL Why haven't the Bills found a franchise QB since Jim Kelly retired?
  25. The scoring went like this (FG)-(FG)- 5yd TD pass to Spiller-(FG)-(KO return Spiller)-37yd TD pass to Johnson, so the offense actually scored 14 points-special teams scored the other 16... The Pats have the 27th ranked defense, with no pass rush. The Jets while not as good as GB 4th and Miami 5th they are far superior then the Patriots at 11th Wait till Fitz encounters some of what Edwards has had to deal with against the Jets
