Your right ...it could have been worse. The Jets 3 best defensive starters didn't play... NT Kris Jenkins- CB Revis- LB Calvin Pace Although, I highly doubt the rushing offense could have played worse. Man that Spiller pick really improved the running game ...

I think Chan just put Edwards on the hot seat!
thewildrabbit replied to Lenigmusx's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea just what the team needs is another Edwards scapegoat... Anyone start to think if the offense could actually run the ball at some point it controls the clock and keeps the ball out of the opponents hands, and keeps our defense fresh. what was the stat, fitz didn't have a completion until sometime in the 2nd qtr.. DRIVE CHART ----punt punt punt punt TD punt fumble punt punt punt TD punt Time of possession Jets 40:29 vs Bills 19:31 What does it tell you when the QB is the teams leading rusher at 74 yards...wtf happened to the story from Gailey about "a good RB will make the O line block better"" Wanna know the cold hard truth... this Jets team played without its 3 best defenders, NT Kris Jenkins-CB D Revis-LB Calvin Pace and still owned the Bills This new head coach was supposed to be an upgrade to the offense, dunno about you guys but I'm still waiting to see this happen!! You guys wanna blame the DC, fine... but why not blame the guy who hired the LB coach from the Dolphins instead of an experienced defensive coordinator -
For all you veteran Bills fan...

Its cool, forgive me for thinking you were only a 90's fans, because to them this must feel like the lowest point ever. The Chuck Knox era was my favorite time as a Bills fan also, got Jim Hasletts- Jerry Butlers autographs along with most of the players on those early eighties teams. My favorite game was the season opener Miami game in which we tore down the goal posts and ran them around the stadium and right to Ralph Wilson's box. To think that Chuck Knox came into that team and rebuilt basically it by himself, the GM at the time was a complete tool. Knox traded up to get Jim Richter with the #1 pick, he knew and understood the value of building a good O line. Knox traded for Conrad Dobler, lord that guard was the meanest O linemen ever, he wasn't very gifted, but man was he tough as nails and would do anything to beat his man. I was an OJ fan, but it wasn't until the Knox era that I cemented my passion for the Buffalo Bills, that guy could take a bunch of average players and get them to play great football. He traded Bobby Chandler for Phil Villapiano, not the best for move the Bills but that guy was the best ever team leader / player and such a great rah rah type of guy. Chuck Knox turned around the losing mentality into a winning mentality, something not a lot of coaches can do. I've been around long enough to know a bad coach, to a good coach, to a great coach, and a great coach that can change the mentality of the team. Right now Gailey looks pretty stupid to me for cutting Edwards and making the fans happy, exactly how does that equate to wins if Fitz gets injured? There are two very very good head coaches out there at this time, they are probably the best motivator head coaches I know of currently not working in the NFL, both want to return to the NFL badly at this point an both could turn this team of so called 'bad' players into winners in one year. Ralph Wilson won't hire either of them. . Perhaps like me, you feel the futility of it all because you realize that as long as fans keep buying tickets and the Bills keep selling out games like they have this decade. The fans keep buying up jerseys, Bledsoe-Moulds-Henry-McGahee-Lynch-poz-Spiller . Buying up merchandise and selling out games so that the status quo will never change and Wilson will pass and perhaps the team is sold and the Buffalo Bills will be no more. Unlike you tho, this thought no longer depresses me... because the fans deserve better then this slew of mediocre coaches this owner keeps hiring, which equals mediocre teams . These loyal devoted Buffalo Bills fans deserve better then what owner Ralph Wilson keeps passing off on all of us year after year. He knows the difference between a Chan Gailey type and a Chuck Knox type and refuses to hire the latter ever again. -
Sucky Weather Forecast for Tomorrow....

Don't forget the reason the Sanchise threw 5 INT's last season was because the wind was gusting very badly, it was his first encounter with winds like that. I for one relish the bad weather in Buffalo and hope its cold and blustery and the Jets QB can't throw $!%#, -

Stop condescending, if anybody missed a point it was you. In exactly what part of my post did I state that I was optimistic? No need to envy me, I'm on the verge of giving up completely on this team / owner to step up before he steps off. It is about the head coach and the owner who refuses to pay a top coach. The entire difference between you and me is I've seen first hand what a coach like Chuck Knox can do for this franchise. Some questions, did you ever have no home preseasons games whatsoever played in Buffalo because nobody would attend? Were you ever at a point at the beginning of the season where you started watching more college football then NFL football because you wanted to see who the best players to draft were? If you never experienced the 70s-80's, then you really have no basis to compare the low points, to you those years were just numbers on paper, screen. Did you EVER experience a game with almost nobody in the stadium in a home game and most of those fans wearing bags on their head? Sitting at a 1/2 empty home game where the opposing team has more fans in the stands is about the most embarrassing moment I can recall as a Bills fan. Exactly how many home games have you missed completely because they didn't sell out before the blackout, I can those count on one hand over the last ten years. I can recall If I didn't buy tickets I wouldn't be able to see my team at all on Sunday, year after year, missing home game after home game because the game wasn't sold out. This franchise got extremely lucky to draft Jim Kelly, you know kinda like hens teeth type of thing, and then watch him to decide to not join the team but to play for an upstart USFL league, don't forget the first pick was that great tight end Tony Hunter. This wasn't the first time that happened, it also happened with Tom Cousineau who was the #1 OVERALL pick in the draft who decided to play for the CFL!!. Come on, try to imagine for a minute that CJ Spiller would rather play for the USFL or the lowly CFL then the buffalo Bills, then get back to me about low points Bill Polian was another "Hens Teeth" type of thing, you honestly think that by going 2-14 this season this team will miraculously find another GM like him, or that Buddy Nix in any way shape or form resembles him? Going 2-14 doesn't mean that this team is suddenly going to start drafting brilliantly and the coaches suddenly turn from bums into winners like some Cinderella story! If anyone is an optimist... it is you, do you honestly think that by going 2-14 this year and they manage to be bad enough to obtain a top 5 pick that they will choose wisely? I can tell you by looking at this years draft and free agency ...expect to be disappointed at next years draft. From my view Nix and Gailey are pretty bad so far, this is the guy that said Spiller would make the line block better, that happened in the Miami game didn't it? Should Fitz get Injured the Bills will finally get to see "IF" Brian Brohm can play. Cornell Green, Chris Kelsay ...need I say more. The changes brought about by going 2-14 were agonizing years to endure, if you never had to endure a 2-14 season then you can't know or understand how that feels. But knowing that you feel that going 2-14 will correct everything wrong with this decade, enjoy the pain -

If you read the Jag fans post they are all writing almost the same stuff Bills fans are writing about, what QB should they draft next year. I think most Jags fans realize neither Garrard or Edwards is the answer and are drooling over next years rookies QB prospects, just like Bills fans -

thewildrabbit replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The reason you think the current state of the Bills is the worst is because it is still fresh in your mind and it is still clouded by the distressing frustration of it all. First off you simply can't compare 7-9 or 6-10 to 2-14 seasons, no way, no how. as the 2-14 season has absolutely NO HOPE as every player in every position sucks. Bill Polian even stated we are 2-14 on merit because we have the worst talent in the NFL, if anyone would know it would be him. This decade the Bills were 9-7 and one win away from the playoffs, they simply couldn't beat the Steelers backups and choked....coaching! I disagree with you about the talent on the field, the talent has been there and it is because this owner refuses to hire the proper head coach / GM and is the sole reason this team has bad this decade. The teams fielded every year in this decade have only been about a hand full of players or less away from the playoffs, every year! The first three years under Jauron the Bills could have easily made the playoffs if not for his moronic drafts-and coaching hires. The first year Levy hires an unknown OC in Steve fairchild who never called plays in St Louis under HC Mike Martz, still he must have figured he could setup a that Mike Martz high powered St Louis "greatest show on turf" offense. The Bills actually started to get better on offense the O line got better, the QB got better, but then Fairchild leaves to take a HC job in College. First mistake, instead of hiring a proven vet OC, he promotes Turk Schonert from QB coach to OC, that decision was so bad that the guy isn't even in the NFL anymore in any capacity! More mistakes, he trades away his only decent OLT tackle, he cuts G Derrick Dockery and then cuts RT Langston Walker when he plays poorly at LT, fires OC Schonert two weeks before the season starts. So now the QB Losman and Edwards have endured constant changing of coordinators every year of their time in Buffalo. The Bills problem on the O line were clear in that Jets game in 08 where the center and two guards tried to block Kris Jenkins, the guy was triple teamed and still got to the QB., so the bills sign a FA center and draft two guards. Things went downhill when Jauron was left to his own devices, the Bills in 07 with Jason Peters were only one decent player from having the best O line in the NFL, they needed a center. Instead of drafting a Center, Jauron drafts CB's up the ying yang. Instead of replacing 18 year vet O line coach Jim McNally when he retires he promotes from within and the line goes into the toilet under a rookie. Its about coaching, its always about coaching... the Bills owner has refused to hire a known commodity at HC and GM and would rather roll the dice on if the new guy can do the job or not. You know why he would prefer to roll the dice, RW has found that if you keep the team on the verge of the playoffs he can keep costs down and the stadium filled ...which is good enough for him. -

This decade isn't even close to the lows endured by long time Bills fans Previous to Chuck Knox the team couldn't have home preseason games because the fans wouldn't attend, they stayed away in droves The entire decade of the 70's the team didn't win one game against Don Schula's Dolphins, only one winning year and no playoffs, kinda like this decade with the Patriots Back to back 2-14 years in the 80's with half empty stadium's and the fans that did attend sitting with bags on their heads Not for nothing, but in the 70's-80's it was like Ralph Wilson had his head so far up his $#@ that he only became aware after years of not filling the stadium. Recently I think he has become over involved in everything, its like an older version of Jerry Jones with some Al Davis sprinkled on top. Make no mistake that this is Wilson's team and his thumb prints are all over it. Tom Donahoe had to go, the fans and the media said so... I wouldn't be surprised at all to hear it was Wilson's decision to crap-can Trent Edwards, as he listens to his fans and the villagers were out with their torches after those first two games. Trent Edwards had to go, the fans said so....after reading what was being said about him in blogs and message boards. I also wouldn't be surprised to hear that he has a dominate influence on who is obtained in free agency and who gets drafted. Ralph Wilson is a throwback to the old days were owners were so hands on it ruined the team. Like Bill Bidwell...like Robert Irsay.... like Al davis is now. What really gets me is the man is smart enough to hire great head coach, like he did with Chuck Knox, he knows that will make the team a winner, he knows that winning will fill the seats. yet for some inexplicable reason he keeps trying to get by with these brain dead losers. He had a shot at Mike Shanahan, and he blew it. Ralph Wilson needs to let go of all the football operations to a PROVEN winner, kinda like the way Robert Irsay's son Jim Irsay did when he hired Bill Polian Sadly, at this point I think Bills fans will be waiting until this owner passes... all we can do is hope the next owner will keep the team in Buffalo and is smart enough to spend the $ to hire a great GM / HC. -
Teams are built through the draft....
thewildrabbit replied to Booger's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It wasn't just drafting Matt Ryan, it started with the GM stolen from the Patriots in Demitroff. Then as GM he hired Mike Smith as HC and as HC he went on to hire experienced veteran assistant coaches like ex Bills HC Mike Mularkeyas OC. Then in free agency they got Michael Turner and rebuilt the O line and D, yea Matt Ryan helped, but it was a complete revamp. BTW that makes a great point on how to build a team quickly and not in the fashion of just the draft and having it take 3+ years. The Falcons went from worst to first in ONE YEAR! 4-12 to 11-5 The Dolphins did the exact same thing only by bringing FA QB Chad Pennington, they spent their first pick on LT Jake Long. Their story is even more significant in that they went 1-15 to 11-5 The way the Falcons and Dolphins rebuilt in one year is something that Nix and Gailey failed to emulate this year, at the rate they move it will take 3-5 years ...and even then I have doubt about those two building anything. -

RW will have passed by the time this team gets to the playoffs again... Sorry, but I have lost complete faith in Nix / Gailey building this team through the draft. not if their eye for talent is Cornell Green and Kelsay. So far they hit one on one draft pick in the last draft in an area that wasn't even needed, they failed to upgrade WR-TE-RT-LT-C....2x OLB NT that's pretty sad. -
How long before Buddy gets fired?
thewildrabbit replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
WTF, now the Bills are not even rebuilding this year? This year is for evaluations? C'mon get a freaking grip it doesn't take a year to evaluate talent, its takes a few hours of film study. Your just making lame excuses as to why the Bills completely screwed up and wasted this year, another fan in denial. The Redskins were is almost the exact same situation as the Buffalo Bills, they needed a QB, fix the O line and switch to a 3-4. The Skins hired experienced veteran NFL coaches on both offense and defense. Drafted a LT with the first pick, traded for RT all pro Jamaal Brown for a 3rd round pick and traded for Donovan McNabb. Now you tell me, which team is more advanced towards reaching the playoffs / SB. The Skins might be a year away, the Bills are 4-5 or more years away if they need the first year to simply evaluate. Let me tell you, counting on more then two years is stretching things considering Ralph Wilson's age. What did the Bills do, drafted a luxury pick RB in an area where they already had one PB RB and the other is actually better. So now they have a really good 3rd down back, big woop. They signed Cornell Green to a 3 mill a year contract, that was the best RT FA they could find? They just re-sign an older washed up DE to a 45 mil contract to play OLB. I can only think that they are puppets and someone else is pulling the strings, they can't have spent their entire lives in this business to suck this bad at what they do. -

thewildrabbit replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I gotta say I'm extremely disappointed in what Nix / Gailey have done so far...its almost as if Jauron didn't leave and he is still making lame ass decisions. The only thing they got right so far has been Spiller, not an area of need and a luxury pick. Its pretty tough to fail on drafting a player with the 9th overall pick...then again who did the Bills select last year with their #1? Should the Bills continue on this path of doom I certainly don't trust them to make a selection of a franchise 50 mill QB at this point What bothers me more is the fact that most Bills fans are in some sort of denial about the whole thing, oh yea give them time...time to F up the entire team. Sorry I'm not buying into this rebuilding crap, I've seen their idea of quality player worth 45 mill, and a RT worth 3 mill a year -
Trent talks about being released
thewildrabbit replied to joejoebills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whats with all the hate? All the guy did was his best to win from my view, he never trashed the team, the city or the fans, is it his fault that he was trained by a bunch of monkeys? Yea he sucks but he was a byproduct of a staff of clowns, what do you expect? The kid had 3 different coordinators in his 3 years here, Fairchild-Schonert-AVP none of those guys were ever an OC anywhere else but in Buffalo. Fairchild was a figure head OC because Mike Martz called the offensive plays while he was at St Louis. The only NFL head coach the kid knew was the Moron Jauron. Has any QB ever succeeded under Jauron, and where are those awesome ex Bills coordinators now.. Fairchild is a HC in College, AVP is back to QB coach and Schonert is out of Football afaik. It would have been interesting to see if Edwards could further develop under one coordinator for a few years, I kinda doubt that will happen now as Jack Del Rio is currently on the hot seat in Jacksonville and will more then likely get fired very soon. -
Will we see Brohm start this season?
thewildrabbit replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea let him start this year against the Ravens -
Fitz sucks...we want Brohm...we want Brohm...we want Brohm
-
Baloney.... 4-4 isn't profoundly better then 14-16 Lets talk coaching, Fitz had Mike Martz at St Louis to teach him, then he had Marvin Lewis as his HC and the same OC who was in Cincy teaching QB Carson Palmer. Look at who has been coaching Edwards his 3 years in Buffalo, Steve Fairchild his first OC, Turk Schonert his second OC, AVP his 3rd OC in as many years. 3 years in the league and 3 different coordinators and one moron for a HC Look at the overall won / lost record, by all accounts Fitz should be way better then Edwards, he isn't
-
As will I, but only if he wins the game Hey, WTH knows perhaps if Gailey can coach someone up it will be Fitz, just maybe Gailey will go over the film with Fitz and get him to settle down on those important throws Like I stated in the eariler post, it really bugs me that Edwards has had to deal with constantly changing staff of coaching fools in his last 3 years, he finally gets a decent offensive mind and the guy gives up on him after only two games, as bad as he played in those two games I still think he could be developed to play better, JMO Look at Mike Vick this year, someone who was never a pocket passer and everyone always talked about his great physical abilities but he just wasn't accurate in the pocket, bad footwork blah blah blah. Now look what Andy Reid has done with the guy, he is turning into a great pocket passer
-
You are correct I didn't read it. I'll still take Edwards as he will throw less INT's Career TE 25 TD's 27 INT's 14-16 Career Fitz 23 TD's 29 INT's 8-14-1 Neither have great stats, but Edwards is in his prime at this point in his career, and it irks the living crap outta me that he had to play 3 years for morons with no real coaching, behind crap O lines and for rookie OC's.... he finally gets a decent offensive mind to coach him and the guy gives up after only 2 games
-
Think I'll take Edwards, he didn't throw 2 INT's to lose the game, one in the opponents end zone and the second with 5 min to go in the game. Those 2 INT's weren't like the ones Edwards threw in Green bay that skipped off the receivers hands and were deflections. Fitz threw those right to the opposing team, its what he does. He did it all last season and he will do it again this season, it won't be long before we hear the chants for Brian Brohm.
-
Not an apologist, just aware of the differences between the teams the Bills have faced in the first three weeks Fitz will get his chance to shine against some good defenses in the upcoming weeks, and so will Brohm I'm sure
-
Why KC 3-0 and Buffalo 0-3? Ownership.
thewildrabbit replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Uh oh, Edwards is gone and DI is on a new vendetta, >.> at grampy Wilson -
You wrote a brilliant post about how bad the O line was in those first two games and suddenly do a 180 because Fitz has a decent game against a crappy defense? This was not some team that had played 1/2 a season and all the players knew their jobs, all the coaches knew their respective jobs and the play from the rest of the team was great, this was about the ENTIRE TEAM sucking, coaches and players. I'm not crying that Edwards is no longer a Bill, I'm actually kinda happy for him that he won't be getting concussed this season playing behind the worst O line in the NFL. I just think that its a long season and Gailey made a rather hasty decision after only 2 games, he pretty much cut his own throat in doing so. Its his job that is on the line if he made a wrong decision, only time will tell
-
Edwards did play against a much better Patriots defense last season and played very well, he didn't throw the 2 INT's to lose the game. It was lost by a rookie DB and a running game that couldn't kill the clock
-
RJ, Losman, and now Trent....
thewildrabbit replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great points I have always felt had the Bills be able to bring in Tom Cousineau he would have developed properly under Chuck Knox and developed into a top NFL LB. To me coaching is everything, kinda why they named the SB trophy after a great coach. Chuck Knox came to this franchise when it was one of the worst teams in the NFL, rebuilt it basically by himself as the GM at the time was a complete tool. 5-11 his first year to 11-5 in two years and won the division. He was an ex O linemen himself, he took a QB named Joe Furguson who used to constantly hang his head after every bad series walking off the field, who used to constantly throw more INT's then TDs every year, and turned him into a much more disciplined QB who stopped hanging his head and stopped throwing so many INT's, Knox turned him into a winning QB. The problem with the Buffalo Bills is the team hasn't had a decent offensive coordinator since Ted Marchibroda and a decent head coach since Marv Levy / Wade Phillips. Plus the Bills haven't had a great O line since those early 90's, and with a poor O line the QB will never play well A great head coach like Bill Cowher / Mike Shanahan / Marty Schottenheimer could turn this franchise into a winner again. Conversely, look at KC this year, a smart HC can hire talented experienced veteran coordinators and turn the franchise around, KC is also helped by their GM Scott Pioli. -
Not to mention how bad the O line and protections were in those first two games...an offense still learning a new scheme, players still learning their jobs. My take is Gailey jumped the gun on Edwards, but then again this is the same head coach and GM that think Cornell Green is worth 3 mill a year at RT. This same head coach thinks there is very little difference between Edwards Fitz and Brohm. I can't wait for this season to play out so you guys see what I already know. I know I'm wasting my time, some are so sold on Gailey and Nix that no amount of logic will sway you at this point. Let me just say it won't be to long before i start reading Fitz sucks, lets get Brian Brohm in there. Then I'll be reading Brohm sucks, lets get Levi Brown in there... this same scenario happened last year This team is destined to win 2 games this year no matter who is at QB, they will trade away Lynch and perhaps even Lee Evans in a purge to "rebuild' the team. Just think, next year we can look forward to a team filled with more players in the likes of Cornell Green
