  1. I get a kick out of those spoiled freakin Colts fans that are unhappy because the guy missed on the 3rd round picks....considering where the Colts have drafted over the last ten years because of being in the playoffs every year means their FO has done an amazing job in every aspect. Only a handful of teams have been able to do that over the last 10 years and it actually defies the parody the NFL has implemented and wants. Colts with Bill Polian, who is the greatest GM in the history of the Buffalo Bills and probably the history of the NFL. The Baltimore Ravens with the "wizard of Oz" in Ozzie Newsome, the guy has done an amazing job as his teams are in the playoffs almost every year. The guy all Bills fans favorite guy to hate, Bill Belichick....consider a head coach that has defied injuries- lost coordinators-lost GM's- lost scouts. The man has survived on a team that has been in constant turmoil from other teams constantly trying to tear his team apart, and yet in the playoffs every year.
  2. AIN"T gonna happen, no way...no how. Jim Irsay the owner of the Colts watched what he did with the Buffalo Bills during the 90's, and when his father passed and he inherited the Colts he hires Polian. Irsay knows what he has in Bill Polian, unlike RW, If it came to Polian leaving I'd think he would offer him part of the team to stay
  3. While I agree that fitz is not the long term answer, and it would be wise to get a long look at Brohm But AFTER the Ravens and Steelers. Fitz does have a penchant for avoiding getting concussed and hit really hard, but even Fitz will have problems with those two teams
  4. take a long hard look at the 2008 KC Chiefs and Tyler Thigpin, he put up some respectable numbers in a lousy 2-14 offense, that is what Gailey does with an offense
  5. So would I...BUT! I tend to think that RW & JL has some say on how much they pay coordinators since Jauron only promoted from within, hence the cheap versions of assistants. OTOH are these guys are assistants he used to have with him at GT, if so he may want them because they will be loyal (and not smart or good enough to replace him) First, This GM is Ralph Wilson's hand picked promotion, no way he fires him unless the team is still horrid in 2-3 years- Since this GM knows Cornell Green sucks and has stood by the guy giving him time to improve, or until he can prove he was a good choice at RT. So he will stand by his choice of Chan Gailey until our eyes bleed. Second, It is all about the fans with RW... should the fans base start screaming for Gailey's head like they did for Trent Edwards, then there is a chance that RW asks Nix to make a move at HC. I honestly don't think this fan base can endure a 1-15 or winless season without everyone going postal. Third, the only way Bill Cowher- Marty Schottheimer- Jon Gruden gets hired in Buffalo, it is because the owner has passed and the new owner wants to actually win. P.S. The reason the team looks so incompetent it is because the HC is trying to do to many jobs... he should be be managing his assistants, the game on Sundays and motivating the troops. This guy hired a bunch of college assistants who don't have a clue how the NFL really works, So Gailey is not only teaching the players he is teaching his assistants at the same time. He sets up the game plan, calls the plays. Lets not forget that this man was fired as an OC in KC after his offense went 2-14, so to ask him to run the entire offense and team.... it looks like he is in over his head.
  6. Nix & Gailey Then Modrak and Overdufas
  7. What the head idiot in charge doesn't get....even after Bill Polian proved it to him.....that fielding a winning team will sell seats no matter what the price is... Look at the last ten years, fans will buy mediocre around here, imagine what they would do if his Buffalo Bills ever won a SB. This man is so Mr Potter / Ebenezer / Mr Dithers that he doesn't realize all it would take is ONE MAN, he had that guy in Chuck Knox and didn't keep him, he had that guy in Bill Polian and didn't keep him. Just pay the right guy what is needed and he will find the great players- find the great coaches- fill the stadium and the team will win year after year.
  8. I'm think this new regime had a plan all along.... They couldn't possibly be this inept or just plain galactic ly stupid to..... keep Trent Edwards and give him most of the reps all off season ( they did try and trade him in th off season) only to cut him after two weeks, perhaps to completely destroy his confidence and his career. Go into last years draft stating that they would make the O line a priority and came out with only a 5th rounder at tackle, then signed Cornell Green as a FA RT... yea Green is a FART or worth about as much as one! Suddenly RW comes out after a 5th loss and states the team will pick a QB #1 this next draft, I'm thinking they purposely torpedoed this season to get the franchise QB next year. P.S. seems like a great idea on paper, but it leave me thinking... can this staff properly evaluate NFL players or not?
  9. here, here On the bolded part, I would really like to see RW step down as president and hire someone like Ozzie Newsome or Bill Polian that job, or one of those two, offer them part of the team to ensure their loyalty and success if that is what it takes, Clearly the title as president is just that to RW, hire someone who would have the power to run things properly. This franchise is in desperate need of a knowledgeable football man who is smart enough and young enough to turn the team into a winner while maintaining a profit. A darn shame RW doesn't have family or sons to inherit this team like Robert Irsay or Bill Bidwell.
  10. Well spoken, just consider the source of fans frustration, their team is letting them down, it can be downright painful for a week or more to some. Then to watch the teams in the division that the fans hate with a passion winning week after week just accentuates the pain OTOH, some of the so called fans posting here can be brutal and just downright low and mean, it makes me wonder if they are posting from some prison somewhere. Thank you, It was good to hear from Ralph Wilson and to hear that he is in good spirits and doing well enough that he can joke about his health
  11. 3 years with Marv Levy AND Bill Polian.... about the only thing in common between those two sets of GM/ HC is the title.... So far Nix and Gailey are worse then Jauron...which I didn't think was possible, their record proves it. The line played somewhat better against the Patriots and Jags because both those defenses stink...BOTH New England's and Jacksonville's defenses are rated WORSE then the Bills, another which I didn't think would be possible. Total defense Jags #30- NE #29 Bills #28 OHHHH, so Fitzpatrick has 3 seconds to get rid of the ball instead of 2 seconds in those games so it looks like the line IS improving, get back to me after the Ravens game, after the Steelers game
  12. ya know whats funny and everyone forgets the fact that Perry Fewell actually got these same basic players to play better on defense stopping the run then Jauron ever did. Anyway. seems like some posters here think that the coaching doesn't matter, I say BS. Look at the Steeler's Dick LeBeau, the guy who directs that defense and who is in the HoF from mostly from being the greatest ever DC and runs a 3-4. Dom Capers 3-4 up in Green Bay- Jim Haslett 3-4 in Washington- Mike Nolan 3-4 in Miami- all really good at building a defense. Jim Haslett was hired this year, its coaching, its always coaching. But its also that those coaches have to have enough experience to know the difference between a good player and a bad player. Granted the Bills LB core truly stinks, the FO went into this past draft knowing they needed an OLB or 2, plus a QB-LT-RT-WR and they chose a RB #1 that really hasn't had much impact as a RB, they already had good returner. Last year the team selected an undersized DE with speed at #1 and this guy can't even get on the field he is so bad. Is it any wonder why the Redskins sprinted to the podium with that Brian Orakpo pick right after Buffalo took Maybin
  13. The thing is...just losing is enough to drive the single seat people away , the season tix people will suffer the most this year when they can't get rid of their seats for games they don't wanna go to.. This FO and owner have a plan, stink badly enough and lose enough games to grab one of the many good young QB's that are in the draft, Locker-Luck-Mallett et al. The fans will all return next year in droves just because of the promise that the new QB holds, the satdium will sell out game after game for years and the team only needs to pay one player.
  14. Naa, not ten years... I have never wished for anyone's demise and I never will... but that is what it is going to take to create enough change to make a difference. C'est la vie
  15. This bandwagon has broken wheels and is being pulled by some really lame horses right now....I dunno, ten years of rebuilding takes its toll on fans. Now the fans need to prepare for another 3-5 years of rebuilding under Nix / Gailey, the owner doesn't care if the team wins or not, he is making 20-30 mil a year from fans that really can't afford to throw money away....
  16. Well Dan, he did say just that to the Buffalo News "" Nix was forthright with Gaughan, saying that upgrading the offensive line "was our main emphasis going into the draft.""" Link http://www.buffaloru...o-line-was-main Like I posted eariler, seems odd that the new GM went into last years draft looking to specifically upgrade the O line and the best they could do was Ed Wang in the 5th round, then Cornell Green as a free agent For me, this sorta shoots down any hope I have for this years up coming draft as RW states they will be after a QB....
  17. Ya know what, he is "part" of the problem. When he was hired everyone knew he was an assistant LB coach from the Dolphins, not a real glowing endorsement My take is the guy came cheap and that was fine with the owner. Hiring an experienced veteran NFL coordinator would cost more money then then this owner wants to spend, if you hadn't noticed just about every Dick Jauron assistant hire, really wasn't a hire, the Bills promoted from within the org. O line coach, OC, OC, QB coach. We all knew that there would be a steep learning curve for both the coaches and players on both sides of the ball as most were hired from the college ranks and have no practical NFL experience, its what happens when you have a HC that hires inexperienced assistants On another note, the defense wouldn't look as horrible as it does if the offensive team would stop trying to air the ball out every play, 3 downs and out. punt punt punt, I swear the Bills are in constant shotgun. "IF" the Bills could establish a decent running game and play keep away from the opponents like the Ravens, Jets and Titans. That way the defense would be not worn down during a game and actually have a chance to remain fresh the entire game.
  18. All you need to know is that the fans will come in droves to see the NEW QB, forget the O line and how bad the team was this year....forget how bad the coaching is, forget how many fails this franchise has had in the last ten drafts THE BILLS WILL HAVE A NEW QB !!! yay!
  19. Did you read the posts? This staff went into last years draft with a priority on rebuilding the O line, all they did was take a 5th rounder and sign a worthless PoS for RT in free agency. I have no doubt in my mind they will fail and be fired in 3 years. The only saving factor for them is that this staff will select a QB with the #1 next year.... fans will come in droves to see the new QB...thinking he will be the next Jim kelly. Only to find out that with no O line and bad coaching the end up with another JP Losman / Trent Edwards
  20. Yea I agree, start Brian Brohm against the Ravens after the bye week I wanna see if he can run for his life as good as Edwards did
  21. Ralph Wilson is using the very same excuse that he used to say about Dick Jauron's regime. The team needs lacks talent on the field. So now it will take two words P & P =pain and patience... I say the real two words are B & S= bull **** ! The same problem has happened again that happened with Jauron, its the talent lacking on the sidelines and in the front office! A Perfect example are the Washington Redskins who finished last season with a worse record then the Bills, they fired the GM and HC, they cleaned house on the coaching staff just like the Bills Redskins: Hired new GM Bruce AllenHired Mike Shanahan as HC, he hires a new OC with NFL experience away from the Texans to run his offense. he hires Jim Haslett an ex HC to be his new DC. The draft a LT with the #1 pick and trade for all pro RT Jammal Brown from the Saints for a 3rd pick. Traded for QB Donovan McNabb got rid of Jason Campbell in a trade to the Raiders. Jeez, this HC didn't need to waste an entire off season to evaluate his QB Redskins record 3-2 and ready to vie for a playoff spot THIS YEAR! Buffalo Bills: Promote Buddy Nix to GM, Nix hires Chan Gailey as HC. Gailey hires a bunch of college assistants for his staff. doesn't re-sign TO and cuts Josh Reed 2 starting receivers. Waits till 2 games into the season to cut his starting QB. Buddy Nix announces he is going to sleep as free agency opens, when he wakes up he brings in RT Cornell Green for 3 mil a year. Drafts a RB with the 1st pick because Chan Gailey stated that a good RB will make the line block better. BOTTOM LINE: Buddy Nix is a RW promotion from within the org, he hired the guy so now he will stand behind him. Just the same way Buddy Nix is standing behind his decision on Cornell Green. Bills fans are in for a painful 3 years
  22. Just wanted to add this post http://www.buffalorumblings.com/ The Bills went into the 2010 NFL draft with the O line as the main Priority, they came away from that draft with a Wang in their hands... with a #5 pick and Kyle Calloway who was cut in August. HOLY !@#$! The O line was the main priority in last years and they waited until the 5th round to address it? C'mon guys, any tackle taken in rounds one thru 5 would have been better then Cornell Green at RT. Ok this a scary thought.... that RW stated the Bills are going into next years draft with a QB as the top priority Will they wait till round 5 to address the QB position this year like they did with the tackle position last year?
  23. Ok the Bills are Officially now rebuilding! I don't recall ever reading about this from OBD before the season started. I know I kept reading it here from the fans posting excuses for this new regime. I do recall hearing Buddy Nix stating that " this team is not that far away". I do recall hearing him say that the fans don't want to know about the labor pains, they just want to see the baby. Since the season started and the Bills lost a few games the fans here have been posting that this year isn't even for rebuilding, its for evaluations! Even Buddy Nix has acknowledged that this is going to be a long and painful process. Now Ralph Wilson comes out and back up his choice for GM and states the same old thing, its the players. the Bills lack talent on the field. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5674582
  24. Shhhh, to much logic in this thread, besides I dunno if RW could stand a full time black head coach, or perhaps he doesn't want to get to the playoffs again. The reality is that RW gave Nix the reins and he hired the "good ole boy" he wanted, a real shame to because Fewell had his players actually earning their paychecks
  25. Now just think if the Bills had managed to upgrade the LT-RT positions this off season to players that a good at what they do, or even if they had signed all pro RT Jammal Brown for a 3rd and kept Bell at LT. The line would have improved enough to run the ball more effectively they might have beaten the Jags and Pats. The thing is, you haven't seen the worst yet, as bad as that Jets game was ...the Bills still have to face the Ravens and Steeler's
