  1. If you actually read what I posted It said that RW has been trying to find another Bill Polian in guys that have no business being a GM, in both Nix and Donahoe. Neither of those two held a job as GM or president previously, and one was actually fired as a director of scouting before getting hired and promoted to GM / president. While Thomas Dimitroff of the Falcons has already proven his football acumen in taking a team that went 4-12 and turned them around in one year to 11-5, with his hires, draft and free agents. Unlike the Miami Dolphins who have Bill Parcells as president to thank for their turn around. He hired Mike Smith to be HC, anyone actually hear of the guy before that hire? He drafted Matt Ryan as QB and hired Mike Mularkey to run his offense. He brought in FA RB Michael Turner and a slew of other good draft picks and free agents. The turn around of the Falcons from worst in the division to 11-5 and playoffs was no accident, the guy knew exactly who to hire and draft, if anyone in the NFL deserves to be called another Bill Polian in the making its this man. HC Mike Smith was named coach of the year and rookie QB Matt Ryan was named rookie of the year Pretty certain being named president is an upgrade from GM, higher job title along with total control over football operations, something he doesn't have now. The only real question is "IF" he would take the job in Buffalo, as long as RW is alive I highly doubt anyone with any kind of smarts would want to work for Wilson, a notoriously cantankerous, and meddling owner. '
  2. I gotta say that article is dead on and am greatly relieved that someone other then a Bills fan gets this...although very disappointed that most fans posting here are still wearing those rose colored glasses and think things will be fine. READ THAT ARTICE and understand this is the same stuff that a few of us have been trying to get across to other Bills fans, the cold hard truth about Nix & Gailey. The guy does have a point about the Commissioner removing Ralph Wilson as owner, the fans deserve a competitive team and better then this. To keep hiring people that were fired in their previous job and then promoting them into a position above the one that they were fired in does show some mental incompetence. Seriously, what other company or organization does something that foolish? The fans in Buffalo deserve better, Ralph Wilson needs to step down or be removed JMHO
  3. That's the thing hew will NEVER figure it out, he keeps trying to find another Bill Polian who he promoted to GM from director of college scouting, Tom Donahoe was a director of college scouting. Now guess what Buddy Nix's title was before his promotion, yep! Director of college scouting. Ton Donahoe was fired from Pittsburgh...so Wilson gets the grand idea to hire him and give him not one, but TWO promotions, he promoted him to GM and president! Needless to say that ended badly because the guy wasn't qualified, either is Buddy Nix. Ralph Wilson hired Marv Levy to be GM because he was someone Wilson trusted, he wasn't qualified to be a gm either. The ONLY way this franchise improves is if Ralph Wilson steps down as president and hires any number of QUALIFIED people to run his team, the guy is 92, at what point does he let go and say lets win the big one before I pass. Michael Lombardi - Charlie Casserly are doing TV, either would be a huge upgrade over Buddy Nix at GM. For President: The current GM of the Falcons is Thomas Dimitroff and he is an ex NE patriot director of college scouting that has done a brilliant job as GM of the Falcons. Ralph Wilson needs to wake up and hire this guy as president, let him run the team and build a winner. If Wilson wants the next Bill Polian, then this is the guy! He needs to hire him before another team figures out how good he is and hires him first
  4. It really is a bit early to give this past draft a grade as failure, although if you look at other teams most of the first rounders are starting and doing well. Spiller was a luxury pick at RB / KR 3rd down back at 9th overall considering how many holes the team had at OLB-QB-RT-LT-C-WR, I can see why some are frustrated with this pick because they guy just isn't doing much atm. Spiller should be getting 15 touches a game, he isn't. Again, as for the rest of this years draft its easy to see why some already consider it a bad draft because of injuries and not many are even playing. Stating some defense for this new GM, I'm not convinced he really knows what he is doing. He went into the draft with the O line as a priority and came away with just a 5th & 7th rounder, and the 7th rounder was cut in August
  5. What gets me is how long it takes for some fans to realize what happened when Ralph Wilson promoted a 70 year old director of college scouting to GM last year, Wilson keeps trying to find another Bill Polian. One bad choice for GM, Buddy Nix then hires an a bad choice for HC who was fired in his last job as OC, and he hires a bunch of college coaches....one bad decision leads to another, and another and another bad gm- bad free agents- bad draft- bad coaching =bad team
  6. On any given Sunday huh? As Mike Tyson once put it as he was about to enter the ring when he was undefeated, the only way this guy takes me out is...if he has a sniper up in the balcony! The only way the Bills win is.... the Ravens have 8 turnovers and lose Joe Flacco-Ray Rice-Ray Lewis all to injuries..the head coach trips and falls into OC Cam Cameron and both get knocked out and have to leave the field...even then I have my doubts
  7. What you don't get, and 99% of the fans out there don't get... RALPH... DOESN'T ....CARE! His team has made a profit every year the last ten years and will make a profit this year, I suspect the Bills will use the first overall pick next year on a QB, thus ensuring a sold out stadium next season and plenty of cash in ole ralphies wallet
  8. This isn't about other teams and what they did to get better, its all about the Buffalo Bills and how they failed to get better... same owner and most front office is the first reason. The owner promotes a director of college scouting to GM in hopes of finding another cheaper version of Bill Polian, he didn't. He found just what he hired, someone not really qualified to be a GM and he has already proven that fact in the draft and free agency, plus the HC he hired. Speaking of the head coach, everyone seems to forget that this guy was FIRED in his last job as an Offensive coordinator as his team went 2-14.... that number look familiar, because that is around what the Bills record will be this year. Only the Buffalo Bills would dig up a guy who was fired in his last job because he sucked and then promote him to a position above the position he just failed miserably in. For crying out loud take off the freaking rose colored glasses and see what the guy really is, a bad choice and realize this head coach is way worse then Dick Jauron.... Even AVP would have made a better head coach this then has-been... both Nix and Gailey might be good guys and good ole boys, but both are bums at their current jobs and not fit to run an NFL team. The Bills fired the guy who could have taken this team to a winning season this year, his name was Perry Fewell,,,, as usual the owner doesn't realize what he has until after he fires him
  9. Keep dreaming..... Polian is the president of the Colts and has say over everything in football operations at Indy, the owner Jim Irsay knows what he has in Polian and won't let him leave. Anyone else notice how Ralph Wilson keeps hiring heads of scouting to be GM Tom Donahoe - Buddy Nix in hopes he finds another Bill Polian The biggest problem is that even if Bill Polian did want to return to the Bills "just because" there is no way ole Ebeneezer Wilson would pay him what he is making at Indy, for that matter he keeps trying to find cheap versions of Polian and keeps failing miserably
  10. No idea who your "source" could be, I just think that the Whitner pick has the "stink'; of DJ all over it. I think the Bills had targeted Michael Huff in the draft and panicked when the Raiders took him one spot ahead of the Bills. They HAD to replace Lawyer Milloy at safety, so they reached way out there on the Whitner pick. The guy was rated in the 50's and they took him at 8th. Just think, the Bills select Ngata in the first and Roman Harper in the second, the team is set for 10 years at safety and DT What does it tell you about the Bills "draft board" when they have players rated as first round picks when other teams have the same players rated as 2nd -3rd round picks. To add to that, what has really changed in the FO from then to now to convince anyone this staff knows what they are doing?
  11. Granted I'm not the only one, but It seems like very few are concerned about the owner as president, considering how many threads are started by posters complaining about the players, the HC, the GM, the bad drafts and the players the Bills missed on over the last ten years. It just seems to me that more are focusing on the minions when the real problem is with the boss who hired those morons. I've seen many "ralph is cheap" posts, just not many discussing the issue of the owner ruining the team.... or perhaps just not enough.
  12. Totally agree, so many other things to do in LA that if the teams play starts to decline ...then so do the ticket sales...Al Davis couldn't make it work with 100k + seats. The team would need to be a winner and stay a winner, something that escapes the current owner and so difficult that only a handful of teams out of the current 32 are competitive year after year.
  13. The owner is the biggest part of the problem, I just don't get how nobody else gets that fact. He made himself president after he fired Donahoe and then let Dick Jauron be De facto GM after Marv Levy stepped down.... the owner as president...a HC like Jauron as GM ...WTH! talk about dysfunctional This owner must think of himself as someone who knows what he is doing in the world of NFL football, clearly he is not smart enough to realize that he isn't smart enough. He is old School like Bill Bidwell, Robert Irsay, Al Davis and the sad fact is I don't see him changing in his lifetime. What is really sad for Bills fans is he isn't even smart enough to know who to hire to run his team, and must be afraid to take another chance like he did with Tom Donahoe. Tom Donahoe the Steeler's director of college scouting loses a power struggle with Bill Cowher and gets fired, So braniac Ralph Wilson hires the guy and promotes him to not only GM but president Ralph Wilson must now think that every director of college scouting is the next Bill Polian waiting to happen and he needs to find him, hench the Buddy Nix hire.
  14. ROFL, that was a good one and actually made me laugn
  15. Why take him when they NEEDED a safety, even though he was the 56th rated player on the board I don't dislike Whitner, but I just don't get how you pass on the best player in that draft, oh well typical Bills at work on how to screw themselves
  16. The defense wasn't his biggest issue... the man went into the last draft stating that the O line was a "priority" and then didn't take a player until round 5, then he stated after the draft that things didn't fall the way to enable them to select anyone eariler. So now that Ralph Wilson stated that the Bills will select a QB in this up coming draft, so If a RB is the BPA at #1 overall I suppose the Bills may wait until round 5 again next year to select a QB... In all honesty I don't understand what the team is trying to accomplish by promoting and hiring people that don't know what they are doing and are really bad at what they do. If you want to blame someone...it starts at the top. The old man has lost it.
  17. On another note, I keep hearing that now that Bill Parcells is stepping out at Miami the owners are friends with ex president of the KC Chiefs Carl Peterson. If Peterson is named president watch what happens to the Miami Dolphins as I'm pretty sure the new pres will want his own HC & GM. Jeez the guy gets canned at KC and now Miami wants to give a friend a job...that franchise should go downhill quickly if this happens. Should Bill Parcells become available for job as president, Ralph Wilson should jump at the chance to have him take over team operations and set everything right for this franchise. Let him hire a new GM & HC and look over the scouting staff to see if there really are any major problems with the personnel. Nobody in this current front office seems to have a clue to know the difference between bust like Maybin and all pro's like Orakpo, this needs to change asap.
  18. First of all, Bill Polian as GM isn't gonna fly, he would be taking a step down to be GM as he is the president of the Colts and his son is the GM. Second, what is ruining this Franchise is that the owner declared himself president in 2006 after he fired Tom Donahoe and hired Marv Levy to be GM and then proceeded to run the team into the ground. After Marv Levy stepped down the owner decided to let Jaruon be the De facto HC / GM. In the early 2000's after he fired John Butler ...owner Ralph Wilson handed the team over to a guy who was just fired in Pittsburgh, Ralph Wilson named Donahore GM / president and stepped back to let him run the team, freaking brilliant idea but the wrong freaking guy!!. What is it with the intelligence of an owner who hires people who have just been fired at what they have done in a lesser job title and then promotes then!! The guy was nothing more then director of football operations in Pittsburgh and loses a power struggle with Bill Cowher, gets fired as a result of that and the moron Ralph Wilson then hires the guy and says here is my team....makes the guy GM AND president of the team....how on earth does that happen, I just don't get it!! I just don't get how this franchise is run as a business ... when you hire people that have just been fired and then hire AND promote them, with both new head coach Chan Gailey and Tom Donahoe. Gailey was fired as offensive coordinator for the KC Chiefs two years ago just before Dick Jauron fired Turk Schonert as OC. he then gets hired by the Buffalo Bills as head coach, this doesn't sense to me and doesn't seem to bother anyone else around here. Anyone wanna work for the Buffalo Bills? Simply tell them you have just been fired so you will need a promotion and more money I would hire former ex-NE Patriot director of college scouting and current Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff away from the Falcons and name him president / GM. Then the owner needs to step away and let him run the team, I suspect he would get results in one year, not 3-5
  19. Yea well, until I hear or read it from Polian's mouth then I'll believe it, I have a tough time thinking that over Modrak's 8 year career with the Bills its always the head coach or someone else making the wrong decisions on all those draft, on all those players. Name me one decent O linemen that has been drafted by these tools in the last 8 years, besides the obvious #1 & #2 picks in Wood / Levite. Eight freaking years of drafts and not one 1/2 decent linemen that stayed with the team more then a year or two. The Bills went into that draft needing a LT to replace Jason Peters who they traded away, also that year Aaron Schobel was out injured most of the year so they also wanted a pass rushing DE. All I remember is the fans clamoring for a DE in post after post on this board, just after the draft most were happy with the Maybin pick stating "you can't teach speed" By the same token if the guy was worth a crap as head scout and knows his rep is on the line how does he allow the team to make so many stupid moves on pure speculation? At what point do you put your foot down and say NO, This guy is a bad choice! Everyone knew Maybin was a huge gamble and could easily be a huge bust ,all the guy had was a great first step...that was it! One year in College and he could run the arc and had no moves at all, the book on him was once a O linemen got his hands on him it was over. Huge reach for that for that high a pick, that type of reach and speculation should be kept to the 6th & 7th rounders and free agents. My take its just a sheer case of collective stupidity, the scouts stink, the head coach stinks, the president of the team stinks, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit to hear that Ralph Wilson is in the draft room approving these picks, so all accountability goes out the window If the owner is ok with the choices.
  20. Ya know Bill I can recall you having a big problem with the Spiller pick at #9, stating he was a ploy to sell tickets. I wasn't against the Spiller Pick and thought he could really help the offense if given 15 touches a game, but he isn't getting anywhere near that amout and the bills just don't want to utilize him much. Now that I reflect on that a bit I can see your point as this next draft the Bills will take a QB basically to sell tickets and put fans in the seats for another 2-3 years while they wait to see if he develops. To the OP point, yea Williams is a stud and did very well against Ware when the Skins played the Boys, considering he is a rookie going up against one of the best pass rushers out there. I can remember some idiots posting here stating the guy couldn't play and would stink . Anyway the Bills screwed themselves with the Spiller pick when they needed to upgrade the O line in so many areas. They could have traded back and gotten Center Pouncey, or simply taken Anthony Davis who would be better for the Bills at RT then Cornell Green ever will be.
  21. The one thing this front office / owner don't get and probably never will, and something that Bill Polian understands is.... you always need a really good center, someone who calls the protections for the line and knows what he is doing, like Kent Hull for the Bills- Jeff Saturday for the Colts. The Bills had the start of a dominate O line while McNally was in Buffalo but never invested in a decent center. Nothing against Hangartner he is a good backup at best. Look at the Colts draft over the last 10 years, it seems like all they draft is centers who end up at guard, while trying to find another great center to back up Saturday The Pittsburgh Steelers were smart enough to invest their first round pick this year on a center, meanwhile the Bills took a splashy RB / KR who was "supposed" to make the O line block better
  22. All the fans posting here about how good the O line was last year in run blocking....ya know what, its basically the same line with less injuries and the same crappy blocking Once Fred Jackson gets more carries and starts making yards on his own like he did all last year, we will again hear how good this O line is at run blocking. Chan Gailey stated that a good RB will make the line block better, all I know is Fred Jackson DOES makes the O line look better
  23. I'm gonna give you guys about 3 more games and I know I'll start hearing constant bleating that Fitz sucks, lets see what Brohm can do I heard it last season, I'll hear it again this season...
