  1. Look at the Saints, as good as Drew Brees is...he can't do it alone. The Saints won the SB last year with a very aggressive defense that had a big turnover differential, plus could put plenty of pressure on opposing QB's. Then he also had a decent running game to help him out, if the opponent stopped him, they would run more. If they shut down the run then Brees would tear them apart. Balanced team and equally good defense and offensive play will usually prevail over a one dimensional opponent. Chan Gailey needs to remove his head from his keaster and start setting up the offense to run first and pass second, the two best play makers on the offense are Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller. People forget that those early 90's Bills won because they ran Thurman Thomas more then Kelly threw
  2. The thing that Fitz just doesn't have is that will to win no matter what, granted he is carrying the entire offense right now, but still he folds under pressure. He just doesn't have that killer instinct and the will needed to make that big play to win the game, Instead he throws a pick. He could develop that trait at some point, but I'd think we would have seen it by now if he had it in him. The guy has lots of the intangibles needed to play QB in the NFL, he just can't do it alone...he needs help from the running game and play calling. Right now Gailey wants the QB to carry the team, kinda stupid. Just think how good the offense could be with Fitz at QB if he had a power running game to back him up, and he needs a better tight end, perhaps Nelson can develop into a top TE, but that remains to be seen.
  3. Someone should wake up Nix and ask him if he is interested I kinda doubt Moss will clear waivers, Tenn lost Kenny Britt and could use him
  4. Should the bills get the first overall pick, and it looks like they will, I'd say go BPA for OT-OLB-QB with that first pick. Meaning if a Patrick Willis is there, a Jake Long is there, if a Andrew Luck is there, then you take the QB. That would be a nice predicament to be in for Buffalo, and knowing their history of pick the last ten years they will screw it up again. Knowing the Bills luck....they will win a game or two this year and Dallas will get the first overall and Andrew Luck will declare
  5. The guy has been carrying the entire team on his shoulders, It would be nice if he had a team around him, or coaches that know what they are doing. No running game and worst defense in the NFL...so the QB doesn't carry the team like he did last game, time to scrap him huh....Brian Brohm would get killed behind that O line, he would look worse then Edwards
  6. Yea...sucks to be them , they have Romeo Crennel as their DC and Charlie Weiss as their OC, Scott Pioli as their GM and have a core of very good young players, I can only wish the Bills were that much of a mess at 5-2 dude get a grip....the Bills are the laughing stock of the league at 0-7, and will never climb outta this real mess as long as Ralph Wilson lives:bag: The Bills have a mediocre QB who has been carrying the team so far, no running game and worst defense in the NFL and fans that think other teams are in bad shape because they don't crush their team
  7. Bruce Smith got yelled at all the time by his first coach, Hank Bullough, he called him lazy, fat, and an under achiever ...along with many other4 letter words. Also, Smith didn't develop into an all pro overnight, it took him years to be decent at stopping the run. While I was against the pick of Maybin from the start, and wanted Michel Oher instead, even Orakpo if they HAD to draft a DE/ OLB. Kinda a shame we can't go back and look at those posts now, if we could I'd re-post what I posted back then, all I did was B word about the Maybin pick. Stating both those things, what the Bills are currently lacking is DC who knows what he is doing, plus they need to move to Maybin to DE, then to get a very good OLB behind Maybin like Darryl Tally to run/pass support and let Maybin just rush the passer. YOU CAN"T TEACH SPEED!!! remember that line from the draft, OK well then, let him rush the passer if that's all he knows at this point, and is good at, so let him run the arc and get to the QB as DE.
  8. I can recall posts gushing about how Trent Edwards looked like Joe Montana when the Bills were 5-0, then they went to Arizona and Edwards suffered a severe concussion. Lets hope Fitz can keep up his good play and that crappy O line can protect him. That line improved dramatically once Cornell Green hit the bench The Bills need to run the ball more to take pressure off Fitz
  9. One thing I'd like to mention to all you Fitz lovers who are going gaga over one really good game, Fitz played at Cincy and has seen that Raven defense a bunch of times.... Not for nothing, but lets see what he does against the Chiefs this week. If it is another 300+ yard game a with 3 TD's, then yea he might just be evolving in Gaileys offense If he can keep this up he will certainly get recognized by the media
  10. Perfectly stated My only problem is that McNabb to the Bears part, while I agree that a mobile QB would be more suited to Martz's system at this point, like Fitz or Vick with that bad Bears O line, I think McNabb has pretty much become more of a pocket passer and would get killed behind that Bears O line, as he would behind the Bills O line. Everyone seems to forget that Fitz is pretty darn good at running for his life, like he did against the Jets... Fitz was the leading Bills rusher in that game. If the Bills don't start running the ball more Fitz is gonna get killed or injured one of these games, Gailey needs to realize that Fred Jackson is an unbelievable talent in making yards on his own. Remember that Gailey line, " a good RB will make the O line block better", dunno about that, but Fast Freddy sure does make that Bills O line LOOK better, as does Fitz
  11. The latter....either "Mad" Mike Martz changes his offense or he gets fired again, and soon. Jay Cutler has the stronger arm, but is obviously missing Mike Shanahan and Brandon Marshall at this point, with Marshall he could throw the ball up and had confidence that Brandon would get it, he doesn't have that type of receiver in Chicago. Cutler has 2 speed burners like Parrish, but has no clear #1 receiver like Marshall. Even the Bills have a better receiver in Lee Evans who is better then either Johnny Knox and Devin Hester. Martz is such a putz that you would think he would use the running game with Matt Forte and his speedy really good TE in Greg Olsen, but he doesn't. Martz is a complete fool for not utilizing his scheme to fit the players instead of forcing his players to make his scheme work, now you know why I bitched about the Bills offense under Fairchild-Schonert-AVP for the last 4 years. What Bills fans don't realize yet is ...Fitz is making that line look better then it is, and that if the Bills played the NY Giants it would show everyone just how bad that Bills O line still is. I'm thinking we will see it when the Bills play the Steeler's in a few weeks, I can only hope Fitz lives thru that game. Just like Mike Martz, Chan Gailey needs to start running the ball more using play action, he can't expect Fitz to carry the offense every game all by himself.
  12. The thing is.... its takes awhile for Chan Gailey to figure stuff out.... look how much time he spent on Trent Edwards before he cuts the guy after 2 games CLEARLY. Spiller is not getting enough touches, the reasons... Gailey realized Roscoe Parrish is much better the Spiller as a receiver at this point and is using him more in the passing game. Second Gailey is finally starting to realize that Fred Jackson is better then Spiller at RB at this point, in blocking for protections and finding holes and also making something out of nothing. That offensive line is still a bad line, Fitz is making it look better then it is, plus it got better once Cornell Green left the field. Least we all forget that Chan Gailey stated that ""a good RB will make the O line block better"", what he didn't realize is he already had that guy in Fred Jackson.I'd say give Chan Gailey some time to figure out how to give Spiller more touches and put him in position to make plays. Lastly, wanna talk bust.... right now Ryan Matthews in SD is failing way more then Spiller, he is getting way more touches and having a tough time finding that hole.
  13. Who would you rather have as your QB.. Jay Cutler or Ryan Fitzpatrick? Just wanted to point out that the Bears are running that Mike Martz offense, you know the one that plagued the Bills for 4 years under Jauron / Steve Failrchild, it is now plaguing Jay Cutler in Chicago. The Bears have an O line that is actually better then the Bills, but Cutler is getting killed trying to throw 5-7 step drop passes behind a bad O line...sound familiar? Chicago is sitting there at 4-3 and tied for the lead in that division, but not for long if Martz keeps trying to throw deep every play. If anyone has watched that Bears team recently I'd think you would say ...jeez they have a really good running game and a top RB in Matt Forte, why not run the ball more. They have a good defense that keeps the game close, but not if the QB is going to throw 4 picks to the same defender. Cutler still had 281 yards passing and is the prototype gunslinger, but Martz and those deep passing plays are gonna get him killed. Cutler has already been concussed once this season and has been sacked 19 times. He was sacked 9 times by the NY Giants and knocked out of the game. The Bills play KC next but have the Bears at home after that game, they play @ Buffalo on Nov 7th. Now considering Buffalo has almost no pass rush I expect Cutler will rip apart the Bills D in the air and have a really good game as Chicago is coming off a bye. . This past week Fitz tore the Ravens pass defense a new one and if the Bills ran the ball better and had a better defense they could have easily dominated that game and won. With a better O line, defense and running game they could have beaten the Pats-Jags-Ravens and be 3-3 at this time Getting Cornell Green off the field also seemed to help that O line immensely. If Chan Gailey can actually get Spiller the ball 10-15 times a game and run Fred Jackson more.... the Bills might actually start to win despite the bad defense. Chan Gailey has worked some magic on Fitz no question about it, now if he can work some magic on that running game the Bills might have a viable threat to win games How long can Fitz carry the team on his shoulders all alone, he needs some help with the running game. Anyway, as good as Fitz has been playing I would still rather have Jay Cutler, just without Mike Martz and his crappy offensive scheme that only works with a pro bowl O line! Should Martz grow a brain and start setting up the offense with quick passes like Gailey has done, things might change for the Bears. P.S. Although If Fitz can keep playing like he did Sunday against the Ravens, I just might change my mind
  14. good point, I like how everyone forgets how much Fitz had to run for his life against the Jets, he will do that again against the Steeler's Like I posted in another thread, this is what Chan Gailey can do with a decent QB, make him look really good. Fitz is getting the ball out very quickly and finds the open receiver very quickly, but lets not forget he threw two INT's that hurt the team. Last time i looked about the ONLY QB that can do it all on his own is Payton Manning, and Fitz is definitively not a Manning This team is going to continue to lose until they upgrade the O line and start running the ball more often
  15. Bill Cowher in Dallas for sure.... JJ built this team now minus Parcells, its mostly his fault for not rebuilding that O line...Dez Bryant instead of a tackle to replace Flozell Adams is typical
  16. Fitz did look very good against a good Raven defense, the thing is...that's what Chan Gailey does... he can make mediocre QB's look really good, just like he did with Tyler Thigpin in KC. The thing he didn't do in KC was build a decent ground game to go along with the high powered passing game. Look at what the Saints did this Sunday against Cleveland with no running game, they lost. About the ONLY team that can get by with just a passing game are the Colts with Payton Manning Think how good the offense would have been from the start of the season if Fitz gets all the reps, if Gailey didn't waste an entire off season on Edwards, just think if they had drafted a RT - C - LT to fix that O line or proper free agents OLB - RT- TE. I say the Bills win 3 games Pats-Jags-Ravens and are 3-3 if this HC knew what he was doing as a HC. If Fitz can play like he did against the Ravens all the time....then he is good enough to lead this team to the playoffs with a proper supporting cast around him... it just pisses me off that the moron GM didn't get this guy more help on that O line You can blame that first INT on Chan Gailey, what an arrogant ass he is to go to a 5 WR set and dare the Ravens to stop the passing game at the beginning of the half, give the guy some help and at least use play action to keep the defense guessing. +10 Fitz -10 Gailey - 50 Nix
  17. Like the commentators mentioned, no way does any rookie coming out this year play as well as Fitz did in that Raven game. if it weren't for Fitz that game would have been another horrid loss. Gailey might actually be helping this guy get better each week, OTOH it doesn't help that the QB needs to make all the plays as the Bills have no viable running game without Fred Jackson making plays. Imagine would the offense could look like if Fitz got all the snaps in the off season..... Imagine what the offense would look like if the Bills had really drafted to build the O line and the Bills had drafted a RT-LT-C....Imagine what the defense would look like if the Bills had drafted an OLB instead of a pee wee RB The Bills should draft to build the lines this year and ONLY draft a QB if there is one there with a grade like Stafford or Bradford, a true franchise QB
  18. man, Fitz doesn't deserve to be on this team 374 yds passing 4 TD's
  19. good teams find a way....bad teams...
  20. unreal, never in my wildest imagination would I have thought Fitz would be this good against a very good Raven D 34-34 wow
  21. gotta admit, Fitz is playing lights out
  22. all out blitz and gets hit as he throws...int oh well
  23. bad teams find ways to lose...
  24. Yea well, keep laughing all the way to a winless season READ THE ARTICLE, it is the truth! Every move those two incompetents have made have been have been wrong moves at every single instance Spiller pick, WTH says that we HAD to draft a LT at #9, the Bills could have drafted Anthony Davis and solidified the right tackle position for years. They could have drafted a center, Pouncey was there, could have drafted an OLB-WR-TE and any number of positions considering all the holes on the team, instead they draft for a position that already had 2 very good players. simply stupid QB, why waste an entire off season on a guy and cut him 2 weeks into the season and not even get a player or pick for him, especially when you didn't upgrade the O line, they had to know he wouldn't get better behind that line, instead the line went downhill with Cornell Green at RT. complete waste of 6 months It could have been fitz or Brohm getting all those reps Lynch, instead of trading him on draft day to get a player THIS YEAR and keep Bell, they trade him late in the season for a 4th and lose Bell, simply stupid Cornell Green at 3 mill a year, worst free agent ever... Drafting for the defense and switching to a 3-4 when clearly the weakest area of the team was the offense, Gailey was hired to specifically make the offense better, he made it worse! People that state that the team needs to bottom out in order to get better are making excuses for an this incompetent regime, just because the HC & GM changed doesn't mean it got better . The GM even admitted he wasn't the smartest guy in the room, now I believe him.
