  1. My problem with the guy is he wasted an entire off season on Trent Edwards and then cut him after two games.... it took him 6 weeks into the season before he knew what he had in Fred Jackson. The Bills started the season with Cornell Green at RT and took how many weeks before they realized what a mistake he was to begin with and finally cut him. The Dolphins are a worse team then the Bills, and have a worse offense and a horrid QB and managed to win 3 more games then Buffalo. Right now most of you are so enamored with Fitz and the offense that you fail to see his, Buddy Nix's and the teams short comings. The Bills have won games against some really bad teams this year and lost to the better teams. How are they that much different from the team that almost beat the Patriots at New England in the season opener last year 24-25 with Trent Edwards at QB? Answer: The offense is worlds better this year under a real offensive minded coach who actually knows how to game plan an offensive attack, tutor a QB, build a passing game that actually works. The Bills have a QB who hasn't been beaten down and and become so gun shy he is afraid to throw deep, they have a guy who looks like he can be the future of the franchise at QB. Still, I'm still very skeptical about this HC-GM and team...who in last years draft is worth a damn, can you trust Nix to build the team thru the draft and free agency knowing he gave 3 million to Cornell Green and thought the guy was the answer at RT. This HC takes way to long to recognize what he has in players and only seems to be able to evaluate them after many games. Sorry, I'm not giving the guy a pass this year because is is an experienced NFL head coach-offensive coordinator and it shouldn't take him 1/2 a year to understand what he has in players. Chan Gailey gets a C+.... Fitz gets an A+.... Nix gets an F- You guys think he is the answer, I don't. Lets not forget he wanted to bring in Donavan McNabb over Edwards and Fitz, would he have cut Fitz if that had happened?
  2. Nope I didn't, I have lost my passion for this team and no matter how well Fitz plays and carries this team I can't get it back with this dysfunctional franchise....granted the field goals attempted were 48-61-53-48 yards, Josh Scobie of the Jags makes all those, even Lindell makes 3-4. If the Dolphins have even a half way decent QB behind center instead of Chad Henne, they win that game. This game typifies how Bills fans perceive their team,..."oh yeah great win over a hated division rival, great defensive effort"....only problem is the Dolphins suck worse then the Bills. The Bills have the worst run defense in the NFL and yet the phins couldn't run the ball against them. The Bills are in a no win situation ATM and should be evaluating what they have in Brian Brohm and Brown as they already know Fitz can get the job done as starter. The bills should be playing backups at every position they can to see who to keep and get rid of next year. You guys just keep gushing about Chan Gailey and Ryan Fitzpatrick and try to understand.... why wasn't this man named starter in the off season....why did it take 6-8 real games before Gailey knew and understood what he had in Fred Jackson? If he had known then, what the fans all knew about Fred, would he have even drafted CJ Spiller? He had last years game tapes, all off season, pre-season to evaluate his players. How could they go into the season with Cornell Green at RT, with Edwards as starting QB?. The O line played pretty good against Miami considering so many starters were injured, what does that tell you. I think you guys give Gailey more credit then he deserves, the ONLY guy on this team playing great is Fitz, and if he gets injured.... its game over! So far the bills have beaten Detroit 4-10, Cincy 3-11, Cleveland 5-9, Miami 7-7 big woop! Now granted they played well against some good teams... but still managed to lose those games, just like bad teams do. OTOH, should the Bills beat the Patriots this week, then that would be a victory to celebrate.... that win over Brady-Belichick would be worth losing a draft position for...
  3. I hate the Dolphins as much as anyone, this victory is hollow to me. I would rather see the Bills get some luck and win when the game really matters, all they did was move back in the draft order the Bills won that game at the hands of an incompetent Dolphin kicker....4 missed field goals
  4. I know you are not good enough also.... although Brian Brohm is on the Buffalo Bills roster as the second string QB, meaning that if Fitz gets hurt he would enter the game and try and win it for the Bills Last off season Chan Gailey had open compitition at the QB position and Trent Edwards beat out Fitz and Brohm, the Bills cut Brown. So after 2 regular season game Gailey cuts Edwards, he showed everyone with that move that he has no ability to tell if a player is worthy until he actually plays in game conditions
  5. Are you guys really this dense? How will the Buffalo Bills ever know if Brohm is good enough to even be a back up if he doesn't play? The current moron head coach clearly can't identify between a good QB and bad QB judging by last seasons OTA's-off season or pre-season, look at what he did with Trent Edwards! Beating the Dolphins serves no practical purpose other then a "feel good" day or so, then the realization that this team "isn't going anywhere" sets in. The team should be evaluating what they have in Brian Brohm and Brown, they should already know they have the starter in Fitz. So what happens next season if the team starts out 8-0 and Fitz suffers a season ending injury, they have to start Brohm and he falls on his face...what then? Heck, wouldn't it have been a greater win if Brian Brohm stepped in and beat the Dolphins? Yea, both head coaches in Carolina and Ciny are dumb as they come in my view, but then both those head coaches were as good as gone.... winning the next few games "might" just save their jobs. In Buffalo things are different, this is a supposed rebuilding year for the Bills and Chan Gailey shouldn't be worried about his job, he should be evaluating what he has behind Fitz.
  6. Ohh yea, the Bills keep winning games and falling further back into the draft.... So with two weeks to go I have faith the Bills will keep winning games, and never fully realize what they have in Brian Brohm...is he a good / decent back up QB?...is he the potential QB of the future? C'mon Bills, just keep falling outta a top ten potential spot for blue chip player...beat NE and the Jets so all the fans can say. ....I knew we would be a good team this year! ....6-10 ...yea baby!!!! We win games when it doesn't matter...oh yeah! The Bill should have started Brian Brohm once the bills were eliminated from the playoffs, so they will know if he can actually play in this league. We all sure as heck know that Gailey doesn't have the ability to judge anyone in the off season or pre season after he starts Edwards and then cuts him , starts Cornell Green at RT
  7. Dumber then a box of rocks to me, the stupid sob is still trying to win games when it serves no practical purpose but to push the Bills back into a later round draft pick.... He should have started Brian Brohm and pulled Fitz as soon as the Bills were eliminated from the playoffs like Shanahan is doing with McNabb,...so if for nothing else he will finally know what he has in Brohm, and if he can rely on him as being a solid backup or perhaps even the QB of the future. He sure as heck won't know by watching him in pre season now will he, he was clueless about Edwards. You guys just keep praising your new GM and HC, both are as stupid as they come. It took Gailey 6 weeks into the season before he realized what he had in Fred Jackson, something he should have known in OTA's. He wasted an entire off season on Trent Edwards and went into the season thinking Cornell Green could do the job at RT. This franchise, and owner deserve the moron GM Buddy Nix, self proclaimed "not the smartest guy in the room" and his moronic hire as HC in Chan Gailey.
  8. Yea well, one of the points of my posts was to show that the Patriots have shown they DON"T need Tom Brady to win games, most of you guys have Brady on the brain.... Should Brady have never returned to the NFL from his knee injury I'd imagine that Matt Cassell would be leading the Pats to an 11-2 mark this year as he is playing very well in KC. The blueprint given by the Ravens is to build a power running game and keep the ball away from the opposing QB by running the ball and eating up the clock, they also had a very formidable defense that could bring pressure with just the front four and a secondary that could stop them on third down. The Bills have the secondary, but they lack the linebackers that can cover AND stop the run, they also only have one, perhaps 2 good D linemen ATM with poor players at DE.. The Bills also lack a a few players on the O line. For this years draft and free agency, 2 quality linemen for each side would go a long way to helping the Bills becoming a better team.
  9. Complete and utter horse hockey... What about the year the Pats lost Brady for the season, and then they let a guy play who hadn't started a game since high school in QB Matt Cassell...they still beat the Bills 2x. Not only that, the second game was in Buffalo and high winds so it made condidtions favorable for the Buffalo Bills with Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch, since the 3 starting NE RB's were all injured!! Forget that... the Pats still beat Buffalo with a 4th string unknown RB who managed 100 yards on the ground...where is that RB now, is he even with the team anymore? The Patriots could switch their entire set of players / teams with Buffalo and give the Bills Tom Brady, Wes Welker and Bill Belichick would still figure out a way to shut him down and beat Buffalo
  10. Tricky Dick must have had nightmares about Brady to Moss over and over to keep drafting DB's like he did....even with the reach for Maybin as an elite pass rusher to help get to Brady, he was grasping for straws all over. Anyway, just drafting to beat the Patriots isn't going to change anything in Buffalo. 1) The Bills need an owner dedicated to winning like the Patriots have in Robert Kraft., not just an owner dedicated to scheming to filling the stadium seats. 2) They will need to hire a coach who can actually compete with Bill Belichick in all phases-drafting-gameplanning-talent evualation- coaching 3) they will need a "smartest guy in the room" type GM to help the team bring in proper free agents and draftees, not a guy who states he isn't the smartest guy in the room and brings in Cornell Green The last few years other teams have shown the Bills how to beat the Patriots, like the utter beat down the Ravens gave NE... AT New England in that AFC wildcard game 33-14. You know the one where the Ravens ran the ball down the throats of the Pats for over 200+ yards 3 TD's and Flacco had 4 passes for 10 yards. That game showed that you DON"T need an elite QB to to beat them, Fitz is fine at QB. But!, don't expect Chan Gailey to beat Belichick anytine soon, it took the guy 8 weeks into the season to figure out he had a great RB in Fred Jackson. If he knew what he had in Jackson before last seasons draft I'll bet he doesn't draft Spiller This is a blue collar city, I would think that this city would dearly love to embrace a team built like the Ravens, smash mouth defense and running game...or perhaps that is just what I would love to see in Buffalo. So many just don't get the fact that the entire time the Bills had the k-gun offense and "machine gun" Kelly, that they also ran the ball more then they threw with Thrurman Thomas in those glory years. The old Redskin "countertrey" offense and Thurman Thomas was almost unstoppable all those years. The Dolphins had Dan Marino back then, but they never did find a back like Thomas. The Broncos had John Elway, but they didn't win a SB until Terrell Davis.
  11. You guys are all smoking crack if you think for a second that Buddy Nix (not the smartest guy in the room... his own words!) along with Tom Modrak will suddenly gain the necessary skills to properly evaluate talent, in free agency or the draft, and bring great talent to Buffalo. Considering Nix went into last years draft with the O line as a priority and came away with a 5th and 7th rounder, then brought in Cornell Green as a 3 mill dollar free agent. The owner hired a man to be the GM in Nix who clearly has no skills for that position, and looks to be another lame excuse for a GM in the Marv Levy mold. As good as Chan Gailey has done in developing Fitz into a decent QB, it makes me wonder how long he will keep his job and be able to win games with a staff of bozo's in the front office pulling the strings.
  12. Most of the posters here have Tom Brady on the brain and seem to forget that the Patriots beat the Bills with a QB that hadn't started a game since HIGH SCHOOL in Matt Cassell! The difference between the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots isn't the QB....the difference between the franchises is not just the QB, or the head coach, or the players, or the front office personnel. Look at Scott Pioli, the ex GM of the Patriots, who is now GM of the KC Chiefs, a team that currently leads the AFC West at 8-4 and were 2-14 as little as two years ago. Look at Thomas Dimitroff, the ex director of player personnel for the Patriots who is now the GM of the Atlanta Falcons, the Falcons are currently 10-2. The Patriots lose their super bowl winning OC and DC Charlie Weiss and Romeo Crennell, then again lose their OC Josh McDaniel's who helped Tom Brady set a scoring record, and take the team to an almost undefeated season, they lose their Director of player personnel in Dimitroff, and GM in Pioli and that franchise just keeps rolling along and re-booting year after year. The Buffalo Bills have Ralph Wilson and the Patriots have Robert Kraft., one owner is committed to filling the stadium seats, the other is committed to winning games ....the latter understands that if you build a winner, every seat in the stadium will be filled Ralph Wilson is an owner who was just plain lucky to find and hire Bill Polian, probably the best GM the NFL has seen in the past 30 years... Wilson had John Butler as GM along with A.J. Smith, he fired John Butler who went to San Diego to build that team into a winner.A.J.Smith is now the GM of the Chargers. Wilson hired Chuck Knox, a man who took a team so bad that they couldn't play home pre season games in Buffalo because the fans refused to attend the games, built a winning team in Buffalo and took the team to the playoffs despite having a bad GM in Stew Barber. The fans were buying tickets again so Wilson let Knox leave for Seattle. Ralph Wilson proved he knows who to hire to get the job done when he hired Chuck Knox, but when he let him go he also proved he isn't committed to keeping a winning team in Buffalo. To answer the OP question.... as long as Ralph Wilson owns the Buffalo Bills...never
  13. The only problem with starting Brian Brohm over fitzy is that he lacks the experience to call the protections and read defenses and would more then likely get pretty beat up over the course of a few games. Having said that I do agree the Bills need to find out if this kid can play or not, is he even worthy of a back up spot on the roster. Let's not forget that this team is seriously lacking talent in the O line, and a good blocking tight end. If Fitz didn't upgrade his game to read the defense faster and get rid of the ball to the open receiver quicker, then he would be getting killed every game or running for his life, something he did very well in that Jets game. So at what point do the Bills say OK, we know what we have in Fitz, but now we need to see what Brohm has, and if he has that intangible that Fitz lacks, the ability to pull off wins. I suspect it will happen soon, but then they should beat the Lions who will be playing their 3rd string QB...so who knows
  14. Fitz is now in that journeyman category, to the rest of the NFL he is a good back up. ....even then he can't really be trusted to win all by himself when he comes in now can he... When the game is on the line and he has to make a play to win the game... the pressure gets to him and he hesitates with his passes resulting in the INT's. Fitz would be a good mentor for the next new QB and teach him the ropes. The thing that Chan Gailey can do is look at a QB and get him to improve his technique, footwork, release, timing and learn how to read defenses and call protections. The things he can't teach are intangibles like the desire to find a way to win.... look at his won lost record as it speaks for itself 8-14-1 Looking more and more like the Bills should have drafted Colt McCoy.... you guys really wanna trust the future of the Bills to Buddy "nap time" Nix?
  15. Marv Levy...nothing against Marv as he is a HoF head coach, but then he ran a team with Bill Polian as GM, with Ted Marchibroda as OC, his best moves were to hire good assistants and motivate the troops. Chuck Knox was able to take the Bills to the playoffs despite Ralph Wilson and the GM interfering. The GM at the time was Stew Barber an ex Bill player who had no business as a GM, that move by Wilson was about on par with the Lions hiring Matt Millen as president. If Chuck Knox had a GM like Polian behind him there is little doubt in my mind that the Bills win their first SB back in the 80's. So yea, Knox was that good!
  16. Yea well, lets see what you have to say when this team is 0-8 again this time next year.... The only area that looks half way decent is Ryan Fitzpatrick... that's it! But then he looked better then Edwards last year also until he kept throwing INT's and errant passes all over. Gailey is calling passing plays better then AVP or Turk Schonert ever did, but then you would expect a supposed offensive guru to be able to do that. Let's not forget that Schonert and AVP were handcuffed to a crap Mike Martz offensive scheme. I'll give Gailey some credit in improving the passing offense, but not the running offense. Fred Jackson is making that horrible O line look like they can run block, they can't and they suck!! Fitz is making the O line look like they can pass block, they suck also. Look what happened to Fitz when the Bears turned up the pass rush. Gailey is about the equivalent of Mike Martz, not really worthy to be a head coach and not smart enough to build a power running game to go along with the passing game. So in summation, the difference between Jauron and Gailey, It would be like comparing a a crap to a turd as they both stink and are pretty much worthless as head coaches.
  17. Gotta give credit where credit is due, Martz went over Cutlers bad habits and corrected them, like the bad footwork and off balance throws. Plus the Bears actually tried to run the ball more more then in past games, although they weren't very effective against the leagues worst run defense 31 rushes / 30 passes I'll still take Cutler, looks like that Baltimore game was unique, and not gonna happen every week...then again it could be the norm if the Bills had a better O line and receivers that could hold on to the ball.
  18. I disagree, think Reggie Bush Yea well, the Bills currently have a small speedy guy in the slot, Roscoe Parrish, who is currently more experienced running NFL routes and better at blocking then Spiller. The Bills need to use Spiller more in the Reggie Bush mold then in the Percy Harvin mold, IMO. The entire problem with Spiller and his play is his inexperience in running NFL passing routes, his pass blocking and run blocking. Not to mention how bad the O line still is, if the line play was better he would have more holes to run thru and wouldn't be needed as much in protection schemes Spiller will suddenly become a much much better back by next year just by gaining playing experience AND if the Bills finally upgrade the O line like they said they would last off season, you know the O line was a priority....but Nix must have been napping during the draft.
  19. Its also worth pointing out that during the 2-14 seasons you couldn't GIVE the Bills home game tickets away, I outta know . I was offered seats to Xerox boxes and others seats from friends game after home game all over the stadium, even seats on the 50 yard line. There was a reason the stadium was half empty, the home games weren't televised, the parking lots empty, the fans not even bothering to tailgate, most fans stopped coming to games and lost interest in the team. It would be different if this was a perennial playoff team and still couldn't sell suites, then you could make the argument that there isn't enough big corporations in and around the Buffalo area to buy those suites. Winning cures everything! Why do you think Jerry Jones is currently freaking out because his team is 1-6, and he has a huge new stadium to fill.... he knows and understands that people will stop coming if he can't put a winner on the field.
  20. Yea sure, tell that to Jerry Jones... Complete horsehockey, after having owned my own business I can tell you that corporations won't buy tickets for perks to see perennial losers, not in this economy. Who in their right mind would want to buy into a losing franchise. You don't need fortune 500 company's to sell those suites, put a winner on the field and they will sell, to small businesses and large. Perhaps there are companies out there that don't really care if the team goes 0-16 and will buy suites just for the "perks"... although I highly doubt it.
  21. Ralph Wilson is an Idiot! Bill Polian showed ole ralphie that "if you build it, they will come" back in the 90's, but perhaps now that Wilson is in his 90's, and is so senile that he forgets important things like that. My point is, that if the stadium sells out game after game, year after year for a 7-9 team ....then just imagine what the fans would do if the team ever became competitive again! This Bills fans base is such a loyal, die-hard, bunch of crazies that have been deprived of winning for so long that they still cling dearly to a team that was successful 20 years ago. Selling corporate is what is needed to sell those luxury suites and those types aren't fooled by the morons in the Bills front office / marketing the same way normal fans are, they want to see wins, and lots of them. Bringing in a T.O. or a new rookie QB isn't going to fill those suites, the only thing that will fill them is a competitive playoff team. Sadly, the only way that is going to happen is ownership needs to change. The guy has to know and understand the difference between a Polian and Nix, between a Chan Gailey and a Chuck Knox, or maybe he doesn't anymore. There are several alternatives out there to fix this team correctly, just hiring Marty Schottenheimer as HC and let him do his thing would get the team into the playoffs in one year or so, but this singular move most likely won't win a SB, unless Marty is able to hire his son away from the Jets to run the offense. Hiring Bill Cowher as GM / HC would be another positive move in hiring someone that knows what they are doing, plus with both job titles it would merit the salary that would need to pay him. Another alternative would be hiring current Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Demitroff away from the Falcons and promoting him to GM/ president and then let him build the Bills they way he did with the Falcons, that way at least when the team drafts a rookie QB this next draft they will get someone worth the money they will need to pay him. The last ten years of drafting has been a royal cluster!@#$ for this franchise with way more misses then hits. I've already seen one Buddy Nix draft and free agency, we don't need to see anymore Cornell Greens or maybe RB's This team needs some people at the very top making the right decisions, Nix / Gailey are not the answer, although now I can see why Cowher wanted Gailey as his OC, but that still doesn't make him a quality head coach.
  22. Can you imagine how much it would suck for the Bills to win 2 games this season and Dallas not win anymore, they get the #1 overall pick in the up coming draft .....and Andrew Luck suddenly decides to declare for the draft
  23. This move makes football sense in the fact that this shows that the Bills are honestly desperately trying to win this year, although Merrimen won't be ready to play for a few games as I understand it. However, I agree that this move makes no sense from a business stand point as there is no way that Merrimen signs with Buffalo after the season, so if for some reason the guy isn't able to contribute much this season, its a waste of money. BTW, It made no sense to claim Randy Moss simply because he stated if he didn't like the team that claimed him he would sit out the rest of the year, besides the Bills seem to be fine at the WR position now with Johnson-Evans-Parrish now making big plays with Fitz at QB.
  24. heck yea the Bills need help at LB
  25. You guys seem to forget that like Edwards, Losman was trained by a bunch of buffoons and played in one of the worst schemes in the NFL, look at Chicago and notice how that same Mike Martz scheme is ruining Jay Cutler. Always thought JP could have been developed better under a decent OC and in a decent system, I hope he gets picked up and learns under Mike Shanahan.
