Want to feel really good & have a laugh
thewildrabbit replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After last years beatdown by the Ravens IN New England in the wildcard playoff game, lots of fans were proclaiming that the "dynasty" was over.... gotta hand it to the Jets D and loud mouth RR, they went into NE and owned Brady -
So much for the NEED to have a "franchise QB"...
thewildrabbit replied to McD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills could have the best defensive talent in the NFL at every position....who is going to set up the defense and call the plays? Last time I looked Rex Ryan coaches the Jets, not the Bills -
What most fans have issue with is the incredibly stupid moves the Bills have made over the last decade......and the fact that they still keep making them every year! Did you happen watch the Redskins RUN to the podium with the Brian Arakpo selection the instant the Bills made the Aaron Maybin pick? One guy is a COMPLETE BUST, the other gets named to the pro bowl. You ask yourself, how can these guys be this inept and keep their jobs? Donte Whitner was the 53rd rated player in the draft that year (06) according to ESPN, to make that big a reach threw everyone for a loop, then to compound matters the Bills move up in the first round for another reach in John McCargo. So the bills took a 2nd rounder at #8 and then moved up and took a 3rd-4th rounder at #26...unbelieveable! Ngata isn't the only one....there are dozens of players the Bills missed on in that 06 draft. The names..QB Jay Cutler @ 11- DT Haloti Ngata @ 12- CB Antonio Cromartie @ 19- G Davin Joseph @ 23-RB DeAngelo Williams @ 27-TE Marcedes Lewis @ 28- C Nick Mangold @ 29 -RB Joseph Addai @ 30-LB Demeco Ryans @ 33- SS ROMAN HARPER @ 43-LT Marcus McNeill @ 50- WR Greg Jennings @ 52-WR Devin Hester @ 57- RB Maurice Jones drew @ 60- TE Tony Scheffler @ 61-TE Owne Daniels @ 98- WR Brandon Marshall @119- DE Elvis Dumervil @ 126 You look over those names and the holes the Bills currently need to fill and ask yourself, how did they ever pass on some of these players? Can you imagine the team with Ngata next to Kyle Williams....QB Jay Cutler...TE Marcedes Lewis or Owen Daniels.... C Nick Mangold....LT Marcus McNeil The Bills could have traded that #8 for more picks and ended up with Center Nick Mangold at #29, which would have given the Bills an amazing O line, that was the one true weak link on that line back then, and still tabbed SS Roman Harper or Donte Whitner with the 2nd rd pick For the love of god, the Buffalo Bills had Bill Polian AND A.J. Smith and somhow managed to lose them both.... It is clear to me that this current Bills FO / scouting staff stinks and has been bad for a decade. I don't care how many people you move in and out of that staff, it doesn't seem to change anything. I have zero faith that this bunch of clowns running this team will make a decent selection with that #3 overall.

Interesting tidbit on Ralph
thewildrabbit replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This was a joke right? Well coached? Dick Jauron and Trent Edwards ALMOST beat the Patriots in the Pats home opener 2 years ago.... almost doesn't count for anything!! Yea, Chan Gailey was ALMOST named coach of the year for his magnificent coaching job this year Get a freakin grip willya.... the Bills won 4 games against 4 bad teams. The one division rival you talk about ALMOST recently fired their current HC, but didn't because they couldn't hire Harbough. I'll bet they will replace their starting QB in Chad Henne, who btw ended up with better stats then Fitz this past season. That last game against the Jets showed what this team would have done without Fitz at QB most of the year, maybe no wins? That last game showed that Fitz has been carrying the team, what happens if he suffers a season ending injury the first game next year, what then? Chan Gailey did in Buffalo exactly what he did in KC as OC, that team went 2-14 with Tyler Thigpin at QB, he played well when he was healthy. So Gailey managed to upgrade the passing offense with ONE QB, and yet drafted a supposed super star RB at #9 and the running game got worse and went down hill....the Special teams and defense went downhill with basically the same players. This HC managed to take a team that they stated was "not that far off" and made them worse then last year at 6-10. The passing offense did manage to become exciting again this year, which was to be expected with an actual offensive minded HC/OC calling plays and setting up game plans. I don't see this HC beating Bill Belichick and the NE Patriots as he is an offensive version of Jauron, he made one area of the team play better. P.S.For ten years this franchise has been changing coaches and players .....every year we have to hear about the "lack of talent"...who's fault is that? -
Gaughan's Indictment of Modrak
thewildrabbit replied to Gabe Northern's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On any other NFL team the man responsible for the last ten years of bad drafting would have been fired and replaced like 6 times, only Detroit with Matt Millen has shown more ineptitude the last decade. The buck stops at the top, and that is the current president of the Buffalo Bills. No real change will take place until the fans stop buying tickets and the stadium stops selling out game after game. I honestly don't understand how Bills fans can keep endorsing this mess of a franchise. RW may not be the richest or the winning est, but he is the smartest owner in the league to hire such a brilliant marketing team to keep fans buying into a loser for so long, I can only imagine the next move will be to draft Cam Newton... -

While on one hand it is good that the owner is in constant direct contact with his head coach, on the other it makes me wonder how much mental awareness does the owner have if he let a complete offensive moron like Dick Jauron ruin QB's. It also brings up the question that perhaps Jauron was asked to promote Turk Schonert and AVP rather then hiring a known name OC. Looking back over the last 8 years or so that RW has been president of the Buffalo Bills, and given the track record of the drafts.... If Tom Donahoe got fired for Mike Williams, then RW should fire and remove himself over picks like JP Losman-Aaron Maybin-John McCargo and all the rest of the miscues and draft blunders. To RW: hire GM Thomas Dimertoff away from Atlanta and make him president, step away and go play with your race horses, stop trying to compete with Al Davis to see who can screw up their team the most. -
What a lot of you don't remember is that Pete Carrol used to be the HC of the Jets, so he has previous NFL HCing experience, and he will have success in the NFL in that weak division. JP Losman is a Buffalo Bills wasted first round pick, and mostly because the franchise is so inept. The Bills draft a young QB and his coaches change 5 times in 4 years, thus leaving him in the hands of a complete offensive fool in Dick Jauron. Looking back at John McCargo and Maybin other wasted first round picks by this team, I doubt we will see them on another teams sidelines any time soon ....or the Bills sideline Lynch was another first round pick, traded away...because Spiller was so much more effective this year.....and the ineptitude continues

Bill Cowher was making a good amount of $$ in Pittsburgh and I think it would take at least 7 mill a year to lure him back into the headache of becoming a head coach again, as I understand it the TV contract like he has can be very lucrative and way less stressful. He left Pitt thinking he could get 10 mill a year, and then the economy went into the ceramic convenience, now he will be Lucky to get what he was making at Pitt. Another thought is he is being very picky about where he would want to coach, he stated before that it took him years to find Big Ben. He wouldn't want to go into a franchise that needs a complete rebuild, he wants to go into a situation where the QB is good and established and all they need is a defensive direction, because like Dick Jauron he is an ex NFL player and knows defense. I have heard that John Fox is desirable but at a reduced salary, he was making 6-7 mill a year The problem with guys like Cowher and Gruden is they would want top dollar and rightfully so, they both currently have great jobs where they make millions with literally no stress involved, at least not like the of stress that a head coach has to endure. I would equate a head coaches stress at about the equivalent of a general going into battle each week, each win euphoria, each loss is agony....enough losses and you get replaced. Some guys waiting to get an offer, Steve Mariucci-Brian Billick- Bill Cowher-Jon Gruden I gotta go back to Marv Levy interviewing candidates to hire as head coach, he interviewed Mike Sherman and then after he stated the guy knocked his socks off with a great interview.... then he hires Dick Jauron, go figure! Fitz's 2011 stats compared to the Big Three
thewildrabbit replied to folz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually no, its not. Kelly went 4-12 his first year in Buffalo in 1986 on a bad Buffalo team, and you could still see he was going to be great the way he played that year. He threw for 3593 yards 22 TD's in an era that didn't have the pass happy rules they now have in the NFL. AND with Hank Bullough as his HC his first 9 games The only thing Fitz accomplished this past season is that he showed he can compete, the Bills beat some bad teams for those 4 wins. Lets see him win some games against some good teams. The problem is for Fitz is he doesn't have Marv Levy, Ted Marchibroda and Bill Polian. He has a GM who came in and stated the Bills were "not that far away", after 5 games that tune changed to "its going to take some time'" He has a HC that wasted an entire off season grooming the wrong QB. He has a scouting staff that has drafted JP Losman-John McCargo-Aaron Maybin with first round picks -
Fitz's 2011 stats compared to the Big Three
thewildrabbit replied to folz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The homies don't get it, and I sorta don't blame them considering that Fitz actually made the offense look competitive in some games this year. Just think of that win / loss record with Brian Brohm at QB all season, no wins? I'll go back to his career win loss record at 8-14-1...Jim Kelly was 101-59-0 in his career, the numbers don't lie Should the Bills stay with Fitz and continue to build a team around him, he may develop into a winning QB, time will tell. -
Fitz's 2011 stats compared to the Big Three
thewildrabbit replied to folz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And you guys look at the stats and go ooohh and aaahhhh, Fitz was the 22nd rated passer this season in the NFL....now look at who is # 15, Chad Henne...ROFL Henne stunk up the field in most every game I watched him play in this year, also Miami is stating they need a new QB Kyle Orton was the 10th rated QB and he will be looking for a job as Tim Tebow takes his place next season. Tyler Thigpin looked good at KC while playing for Gailey, that team went 2-14. Seriously guys get a grip on reality, its all about wins and loses, stats are just fluff http://www.nfl.com/s...=2&d-447263-n=1 Look close at some of those stats and do they honestly reflect how good a player or team is? Here is a stat for ya. Fitz was only sacked 24 times this season, Tom Brady was sacked 25 times...does that mean the Bills O line is as good as the Patriots O line? The difference between Fitz and Brees-Manning-Rivers-Brady is miles, when was the last time you saw the Bills down in the 4th QTR and watched Fitz rally his team to victory, like Brees-Manning-Rivers-Brady do almost every week? Once against a bad team he used to play for? Face facts, the guy is 8-14-1 career. Stating that I think he will improve if given time to gain more continuity with the same coaches and on the same team. I'm just not ready to canonize the guy -
Coming from the same guy who predicted the Bills win record would be much improved this past season from 6-10....reason, because Gailey just had to be an improvement over Jauron. Gailey Improved the passing offense just like I predicted, but not much else improved on the team. The rush offense, special teams and defense all went into the crap can under Gailey, like I predicted... What you fail to realize in that VY is fitz on legal steroids, he is bigger, stronger, faster with a better arm. This kid is already in his prime and may only need a good QB coach to enable him to become great, VY might be about the perfect player for Chan Gailey to develop at QB .
-
No team is going to trade for a guy when they KNOW the team will release him, so whatever team puts in a claim for him after he clears waivers. The team with the worst record will get first shot. At this point its Carolina-Denver-Buffalo. The Panthers will have a new HC, and Jimmy Clausen, if Luck declares they will ignore Young IMO. Denver has a new HC and Tim Tebow, and the fan base is rabid over Tebow so I don't see him ending up there. So should those two teams pass on Young he will be Buffalo's. VY needs a HC-OC-QB coach who can teach him properly, the Titans have Jeff Fisher who was a defensive coordinator under Buddy Ryan. Stating that, I think Fisher is like a lot of other ex DC's that don't know how to run an offense, just like Jauron. If Chan Gailey can get Ryan Fitzpatrick and Tyler Thigpin to play great and above their ability, think what he could do with the talent Young has. Taking a gamble on him might be a risk, but then the Bills still have Fitz in case the guy stays the same and refuses to mature under Gailey. At this point It might be wiser to go with Young and pass on Luck and his 50+ Million dollar salary
-
The entire reason the guy is available is he is a head case, but still has some amazing talent and skills. In comparing him to Fitz there is no question he has a better skill set then Fitz. My take is VY would be a steal if he is released and clears waivers. Should the Bills pick the guy up and let him learn under Chan Gailey he could fully develop into a top super star QB, and the franchise QB the Bills have been looking for since Jim Kelly. Plus, this would allow the Bills to use that # 3 overall on a OLB or DE. Then again should Carolina pick up YV and they won't have a need at QB,and either will Denver as they have Tim Tebow, so there might be a way to secure Luck if he decides to declare. I think he will enter the draft because his coach is going pro to either SF or Denver. To all the guys cryiung about "oh no, not another teams cast off". This guy has 5 years NFL experience and has shown he can win in this league, was drafted as the #3 overall. Only Andrew Luck would be a better pick up, even then it might take the guy 3 or more years to fully develop for the NFL
-
Al Davis is the epitome of a meddling owner, only Jerry Jones is a close second...is there any wonder why these teams aren't winning Unless this was a case where the OC or DC is clearly better then the HC and where only one coach is promoted and changed... I think 8-8 overall and 6-0 in the division is good enough to give the guy another year. I just don't see blowing up and rebuilding the team again Jeez, I wish the Bills had a coach that could go 6-0 in the division...
-
Actually you need both a good QB and O line...its a team game and you need a team playing together to win. I'm hoping the Bills upgrade both lines in the draft. Perhaps this year they might actually take a O tackle or two early.

Ok....let me ask this.....if Luck declares
thewildrabbit replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Luck scares me, he looks kinda like ....Ryan Leaf If the status quo remains the same at OBD it won't matter who the Bills draft....anyone will be a gamble because this FO is clueless Anyway, anything Luck does will mostly depend on if Harbaugh stays or leaves Stanford, JMO -
We all saw what Brohm could do against Atlanta last season, he wasn't very good in that game either, But at least he had a somewhat cohesive O line and protections in that game.He still stunk, most likely that is the reason as to why the Packers out right cut him and then put him on their practice squad. Anyway, to answer your query. Chan Gailey showed the world that he can't evaluate talent by simply watching game tapes, OTA's, mini camp or pre-season like most NFL OC's / HC's do, he needs actual games to call plays in, and watch what happens. That whole deal with Trent Edwards was so lame its not funny, first he defends the guy,and then out right cuts him. Fitz wasn't that bad last season considering he had no real offensive coordinator setting up game plans and calling plays, the QB coach took over those responsibilities two weeks before the season started...remember? The Bills missed an opportunity when they let Perry Fewell go, should have hired Fewell as HC, Fitz would have started the year and this seasons draft and outcome would have been very different, JMO

In 09 the Bills had dickhead Jauron who was so clueless about the offense he hired some guys who had no business even trying to be NFL offensive coordinators. Jauron had the Idea that the QB was supposed to lead the team to wins every game regardless of the circumstances of his team or opposing teams. This new head coach is almost the same way, take this last week for example. He brings in a new QB who has been holding a clipboard all year and not taking many snaps and throws him into the fire expecting him to be as good as fitz,...pass, pass, pass The best player on the team, both offense and defense is Fred Jackson. Instead of utilizing him like Bill Belichick would and pounding the ball and throwing only when he has to, he tries to make the new inexperienced QB win the game, like Jauron would. Dude, grab a clue....the Bills won games against bad teams in 2010-Detroit-Cincy -Cleveland-Miami- and that last game against the Jets showed you how bad the Bills would be every week if Fitz gets a serious injury. This current head coach is a good guy, and is kinda smart in setting up a passing offense, but only if he has the right QB. This team needs a "brilliant" head coach to compete with the Patriots, who have their brilliant head coach. You seem to forget that the GM stated he wasn't the smartest guy in the room when he was hired, he proved himself right this year with his giving RT Cornell Green 3 mill and drafting no help for the O line after he had stated that the O line was a priority in the draft. The 7th round pick was cut in pre season and the 5th rounder didn't see make the starting lineup. Looking at the history of the free agents and players drafted over the last 8-10 years I have no faith this team will suddenly change and start bringing in top players. This franchise follows the owners expectations, he tolerates losing as long as the stadium is filled. Don't expect this team to make the playoffs and compete for a super bowl berth with Gailey as HC, Nix as GM and RW as president.....don't even try and smoke that shi...stuff .
-
Yea the Bills are a shell of what they once were in the 90's, lets not forget that it was Marv levy's teams that beat up Don Shula and Dan Marino to the point that the Bills owned them in the late 80's and early 90's, the CURRENT biggest rivalry has got to be against the Patriots.... At 16-1 Buffalo has been Tom Brady's B word... along with Bill Belicick as both have been sharing in the beat downs of the Bills, the Pats have won 14 in a row and 20 of the last 21 games. Seriously, If any of you think that the Dolphins are still the Bills biggest rival, you haven't been paying attention the last TEN YEARS!
-
No matter how many Bills fans think the teams greatest rivalry is between the Bills and Phins, its not anymore and hasn't been since perhaps the 70's and 80's. Granted it was great back then, but not really since Jim Kelly & co owned Dan Marino's Dolphins thru the late 80's and early 90's. I mean c'mon, the Bills went down to Miami and beat the Dolphins and Marino in the AFC Championship game, in Miami The much hated Dolphins are a shell of what they once were, and their current HC Tony Sparano is looking like he will be fired at the end of this season! Also, now rumors are flying around about Bill Cowher to Miami. Last weeks Bills victory over the Dolphins was indeed a hollow victory in my eyes, all the Bills won was a later pick in the draft. If that game proved anything, its that the Bills have far superior talent at QB in Fitz, and no doubt the Phins will be looking to upgrade that position next year. Considering Tom Brady owns the Buffalo Bills at 16-1...no other NFL team should even matter to Buffalo Bills fans. This game, this week is all that matters this season. Should the Bills win this game, then Chan Gailey and this staff will not only awaken most Bills fans that have been put to sleep by their dismal 4-10 record, it will also awaken the entire NFL world to what Gailey has done in Buffalo. I can only hope that Gailey gives Belichick a huge dose of Fred Jackson, you know, the guy Belichick has such high praise for. First, so that Fred can work to get his 1000 yards this season. Second, so that the Bills control the clock and ball and play keep away from Brady. Too bad Moats didn't save his "knockout of the game hit" for this week and Brady.
-
Belichick calling Fred Jackson one of the best in the business....pretty high praise coming from the devil himself Nice article from Tim Graham http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/23586/bill-belichick-loves-him-some-fred-jackson
-
The only thing I can surmise from last off season is that Gailey didn't watch last years game tapes and didn't reveiw each player like he should have. I would think that any new head coach that wants to know what to expect from the current players would get the staff together and watch last years game tapes, then evaluate and grade each player at each position. The fans knew Edwards was gun shy... that Fred Jackson was the best RB on the team by far....that Spiller was going to go thru a learning process in protections, blocking and running schemes. The O line looks more servicable with Fitz getting rid of the ball quickly, but the Bears showed just how vunerable that line really is . I imagine the Patriots and Jets will do the same. This entire season could have been so much different had the Bills started the year with Fitz under center, gotten a decent RT in the off season and built that O line like they stated they would, remember Nix stating that the O line was a priority.
-
You guys just don't get it.... and are in for a rude shock when it takes this HC 6-8 games to understand what he has in next years free agents and draft picks. Not to mention, if it takes him that long to see a players ability....how long will it take to find out if Brian Brohm and Levi Brown are serviceable backups or genuine starters? Should Fitz get injured, what then?
