  1. While all of you that are gushing over how good ole Ralphie has been to Buffalo, and that he kept the team here....even tho he has put a Wal-mart-Costco K-mart product on the field, and more importantly on the sidelines during the majority of his ownership What will you say about him once he passes and the team is sold to the highest bidder, just like Wilson stated it would. Then that person or group that buys the team decides they no longer wish to keep the team in such a small market, and they move to a different city. What will you say then, will you still acclaim that "Ralph has been good" ? I'm thinking that if that day comes, Ralph Wilson will be hated in Buffalo as much as Art Modell is hated in Cleveland. For those that don't recall, Modell moved his Cleveland Browns to Baltimore where he won a super bowl with his Ravens.
  2. Everyone, and I mean every thinks that Gailey is some great QB guru and he can transform a bad QB into a decent QB, and to some that was reinforced by Ryan Fitzpatrick's play in some games last year. His job as head coach of the Buffalo Bills is taking away most of his time and ability to be QB coach or mentor to any QB, kinda why he failed to resurrect or improve both Trent Edwards and Brian Brohm and both played like crap last year and were cut-released For 2002-2007 look at his career at Georgia Tech, in his 6 years there he never managed to beat that teams biggest rival in UGA, never won the ACC, never went to a BCS bowl, never won more then 9 games and never had his teams in the top 25. Name me one big name QB that he developed at GT that came into the NFL? At KC in 2008 as OC he decided to install a spread offense and although the passing offense improved, the QB Tyler Thigpen was slinging the ball all over in losing efforts much the same way Fitz did last season in Buffalo. Any QB this team brings in for free agency had better already be pretty good or else they will be a waste of time, don't expect Gailey to coach up anyone.
  3. Gailey's failure has already reared its ugly head in many areas, like Jauron he hired a bunch of assistant coaches that have no experience as NFL assistants and therefore they failed with players Cornell Green, CJ Spiller and others. Trying to run a 3-4 with not having the proper personnel for it. Gaileys problem is because he hired inexperienced assistants he is forced to train his coaches all the while he is trying to train his players at the same time, he is trying to do to much, wear to many hats. The man got fired as OC in KC because he tried to run the pistol offense in the NFL, while failing at winning games. It looks eerily similar to what happened last year in Buffalo, no running game to control the clock and the QB slinging it all over in losing efforts. I have to say that both the defense and offense showed flashes of being decent in some games, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick showed flashes of brilliance in some games, fell on his face in others. The defense also showed flashes in some games. but played worse last year with basically the same players from the Jauron -Fewell era. Overall, Gailey is noted for being an offensive minded coach and knowing how to build a good offense. Yet this man failed to properly coach up Spiller, and failed badly on that offensive line. I never would have thought that the O line could get worse then it did under Jauron, but Gailey and his inexperienced staff managed it. The running game got worse, special teams got worse, the defense got much worse and all with basically the same players under Dick Jauron- Perry Fewell. Gailey gets an "F" in my view for his 4-12 season and should have never been hired as a head coach again in the NFL IMO. That said, I hope he makes me eat my words... I highly doubt he will tho.
  4. Yea they were so horrible they made it to the super bowl, just to bad the Bills couldn't get their players to play as well. This whole idea that the Steerers line is better then what the stats show is lost on you I guess. Adams hasn't quite hit the wall yet, and he certainly would have been a drastic improvement in free agency over Cornell Green who did hit the wall and was completely worthless. What bothers me is that none of the coaches on the Bills staff were able to identify that Green had lost it until several games into the season, when clearly to the fans saw he was bad from day one, and posted such. What does that say about the Bills offensive coaches?
  5. Pat kirwan might be a smart guy, I dunno, but I see things a bit differently First player on the line with the best grade should be the center, this player calls the plays for the line and sets protections. Plus he touches the ball every offensive play and snaps on the QB's cadence. This player must know how to do his job better then the others IMO The second highest graded position depends on which arm the QB throws with, if a right handed QB then the LT to protect his blind side. If its a left handed QB then you want the RT to have the highest grade. The tackle that protects the QB's blind side should be the best pass protector, and you usually want the best run blocker for the strong side at Tackle. At least that is the way I'd build the line. The Buffalo Bills used 1st and 2nd round picks on two guards recently and those two are the best players on the Bills line ATM, not great players, just average. Just a little odd because most teams use 1st & 2nd round picks on tackles or center and use 3rd and later picks for guards, unless they look like sure fire pro bowlers. Can the current line players get better, yea sure they can the more time they play together and the more experience they get. Not many old timers on that line. Will they ever be a dominate pass or run blocking unit like the Jets, kinda doubtful from my viewpoint as they simply are lacking in talent it takes to be pro bowlers.
  6. To add to the above elongated post.....Team pass protection rankings http://forums.footba...howtopic=594145 20. Buffalo Bills (1.71) Improvement from the Bills. Demetrius Bell isn't even an average left tackle yet, but he was much better than 2009, and Fred Jackson seemed to finally begin to get what picking up the blitz was all about. But players like Cord Howard still get beat far too often, and the interior is all too readily pushed back. That will need to improve. With Ryan Fitzpatrick still at quarterback they at least have a guy who knows how to avoid sacks. Pressure Per Play Rank: 21st Sack % of Pressure Rank: 12th Average Number of Blockers Per Play Rank: 19th So basically what the poster is stating that even tho the Bills ranked 20th in team pass protections, a lot of it has to do with Fitz knowing how to avoid sacks
  7. Do you even watch games? Fitz was playing against a very good Patriot team playing for a playoff spot, Brohm was playing against Jets backups, because they had already made the playoffs and were resting their starters. Brohm had a QB rating of 17.9, a tad more awful then Fitz Did you forget that Fitz threw for 3000 yards, 23 TD's in only 13 games , 269 yards rushing for a 6.7 yard avg, as good as Mike Vick and played better then any QB the Bills have had in years. Oh yea, you are the one who thinks that Fitz sucks and the Bills O line is "not that bad"
  8. Do yourself a favor and ask your doctor to change your dosage Trent Edwards saw most of the reps in the preseason and entered the season as the starter. If a player comes off the bench to replace a player named the starter at the beginning of the season, then he is considered the back up QB for that season, just the way the NFL works. Ask Fitz if its important or not to be named the starter at the beginning of the season. Exactly what was better about the Bills when Fitz played against the Jets? Cornell Green at RT?. The line was so bad at RT they had to bring in 3 other guys off the street during the season to see if they could play. Spiller named starter, the rook who couldn't block, find a hole, run a route to save his life? Fred Jackson with a cast on his hand? Look at the difference between the important stats of both Jets games-score 14-38 ---Fitz 12-27 129 passing yards 2 TD's 7 attempts rushing for 74 yards Fitz was the leading rusher-12 first downs- sacked 3-19 yards, Evans- Parish-Martin TD -McIntyre all caught only one ball-Nelson 4 rec-Johnson 3 rec TD. Fitz running for his life the entire game because the line couldn't hold their blocks. the difference was the Jets able to control the clock with their running game, 273 yards 2 TD's to Buffalo's 114 rushing yards, again Fitz had 74 of those. Bills player of the game was clearly the QB play of Ryan Fitzpatrick, no other player even came close to stepping up to make a play Jan 2, 2011 Score 7-38, the only Bills score came from an INT return from DB Byrd -- Brian Brohm 12-27 for 130 yds passing 3 INT's sacked 3-5 yds 6 first downs Levi Brown replaced a struggling Brohm- No Bills player stepped up on offense, only Byrd did well on defense The Jets sat a lot of their starters for this game, resting them for the playoffs. Mark Brunell was the starting QB for the Jets, they rested Tomlinson, Revis, Cromartie. That huge name RB Joe McKnight had 158 yards on the ground against the Bills If this game showed anything its that the Buffalo Bills have a long way to go in competing for the division. That the Bills O line showed just how good they really are with a QB that really does suck. Plus even Fred Jackson only had 35 yards rushing on 13 carries, pathetic and not his fault if there are no holes. ""The Bills O line is not that bad"" I say BS! This is one of the teams that Buffalo must beat in order to win the division and this game showed they couldn't even compete with the Jets back up players. You call it a mercy sitting, call it anything you want but I think the Bills wanted to see what they had in Brian Brohm before the season ended, and he showed them what a bad QB looks like. Looking at how Trent Edwards, Brian Brohm and Levi Brown all played last year.... Bills fans should be counting their blessings they have a guy who can scramble and make a first down rushing when the pocket breaks down and no receivers are open. If Fitz injures his wheels he will be like a sitting duck back there
  9. Where do you guys get this stuff from...some stat sheet? look at the individual players on the line and compare them. Do the Buffalo Bills have a center that made the pro bowl recently that I missed? Did the Bills have a 12 year vet at RT? LT-Jonathan Scott 4yrs-Max Starks-6yrs LG-Chris Kemoeatu 5 yrs C-Maurkice Pouncey-rookie made the pro bowl RG-Ramon Foster-2yrs-Trai Essex 6 yrs RT-Flozell Adams-12yrs Look at the veteran experience of that Steeler line, and the one exception happens to have made the pro bowl he was so good, no comparision That Steeler O line was was way better then anything the Buffalo Bills fielded in almost every facet. The Steelers had injuries throughout the season and moved some players around, but because big ben scrambles around behind the LoS waiting for his receivers to break open he makes the O line stats look worse then that line really is. The difference is that Fitz didn't have quality receivers to get open and his line couldn't hold their blocks long enough for him to scramble around behind the LoS, had he to make plays with his legs. Which he did to the tune of 6.7 YPR, and btw was as good as Mike Vick. ""The line is what it is""...and it is a PoS line with 2 decent players on it atm. You think Fitz looked bad at the end of the season behind that line, then explain why Brian Brohm looked 10x worse in his start.
  10. well, for one thing both starting receivers were on IR at that point, Nelson the TE was having migraines and missed several games. Lynch was traded away and all the had was Freddy at RB.I gotta think at that point in the season his receiver options were very limited, not to mention the pounding he was taking behind that "not that bad" O line was starting to take its toll. He did miss a game at the end of the season due to an injury, and we all got to watch Brian Brohm fall hard on his face behind that same " not that bad" O line, with that same stellar receiving corps . The man has yet to play a full season and he has missed games every year because of injuries the 3 years he has been in Buffalo....kinda the reason as to why I keep complaining that Nix didn't upgrade the line in the draft!! So, when he gets knocked out for a game or season, will you have full confidence his back up can even make a first down?
  11. I wholeheartedly disagree, RW has done a masterful job at keeping HIS team in a small market, in Buffalo, while also keeping the team profitable the lifespan of his ownership, brilliantly done IMO. So many owners make the mistake of over spending in certain areas and are forced to sell all or part of the team because of their errors. Profitability vs winning, he who dies with the most toys wins, right? My problem with this owner is in his "hands on" attitude in everything and meddling in actual football operations in which he is clueless! The man knows how to run a business no question about it, he also knows what he needs to do to keep selling those season tickets. OTOH, he is almost completely clueless on building and maintaining a winning football organization. History has shown that every time he finally manages to hire someone that knows how to build a winning team, he ultimately tears it down soon after by firing them for one reason or another. Its my observation that he must feel that after a few winning seasons, the stadium is sold out game after game, fans are buying season tickets, that he no longer needs the man who has proven himself to be a winner. Perhaps in part its because of his notoriously cantankerous demeanor, and his relationship with the people he hires. Perhaps its because he doesn't want anyone in the organization to have more control or power then himself. RW's history of ownership has shown he is more concerned with filling seats in his stadium, then winning games I think people call Wilson cheap because he refuses to hire top personnel to run his org, in particular a top head coach, a top GM, a top president. Although he did try and hire a president in Tom Donahoe, he had the right idea, just the wrong man. Clearly not a top man as Donahoe lost a power struggle in Pittsburgh with top man Bill Cowher which caused Donahoe to leave the Steelers. I just don't get the how and why of hiring someone who just got canned, and then promoting them to a job above the job they were just fired from. The really sad thing is RW will pass and leave a legacy of losing...
  12. ""Bills OL is not that bad""---"" they have a horrible QB""---""Watch again, Fitz is dreadful on many of those plays. Gets his guys killed."" I certainly hope that Fitz gets his guys killed again this year Last year in 13 games as the backup QB he threw for 3000 yards and 23 TD's. Going into this year as the starter and getting all the reps if he plays 16 games behind that "not that bad" O line he could throw for 4000 yards and 30+ TD's Just think, now that Roscoe Parrish and Lee Evans are back off the IR... Fitz can get them both killed for 82 receptions, 1073 yards, 10TD's, just like he did with Stevie Johnson Man, Fitz sucks... I hope he sucks just as bad this year as he did last year
  13. see link #1 in this post http://www.profootba...-buffalo-bills/ This was originally titled "Right Tackle", but given Demetrius Bell (-12.9) didn't play all that impressively for the Bills it was changed to "Offensive Tackle". In 2010, the Bills simply could not find an answer at right tackle despite giving four guys the opportunity to win the job. Erik Pears (-0.3), Cornell Green (-4.5), Mansfield Wrotto (-10.8), and Cord Howard (-19.5) all played 60+ snaps but their combined play put them third to last of all tackles. Demetrius Bell – despite starting every game for the Bills at left tackle – was hardly better than his teammates on the right end of the line. Bell finished the season as the 52nd ranked tackle in 2010. He allowed the fifth most QB hits with 10, which won't win him many favors with Fitzpatrick or whoever else winds up being the quarterback in Buffalo. On a positive note, Bell was tied for ninth place among tackles by only allowing 4 sacks all year (minimum of 850 snaps). Given the importance of offensive tackle play in a passing-oriented league, the Bills must address this need. Bell has at least proven himself worthy of the right tackle spot, but the Bills have to be looking for another candidate play on the opposite end. The Bills will likely use an early pick in the draft, but a free agent who could potentially be their long-term answer at left tackle is Jared Gaither. Despite missing all of 2010 to injury, when healthy Gaither has played like one of the best in the NFL. At only 25, combining Gaither with Bell could sovle the Bills' offensive tackle woes. Fitz was injured last year and missed a game because of it, he was injured the year before and missed a game because of it, he was injured the year before that and missed a game. So in 3 years in Buffalo Fitz has been injured every year and missed games due to injuries. Trent Edwards was concussed at least 3 times in his career with Buffalo and 2 were severe and caused him to miss more then one game. The thing is.... Fitz hasn't even been the starter those 3 years and he didn't make it thru without missing a game due to injuries! The Green Bay Packers drafted an OT with their first pick in the draft this year, why? Because Aaron Rodgers was concussed and knocked out for one game last year, what happens if he misses more then that one game with a severe concussion? The Packers don't even make the playoffs much less the super bowl, and the FO is smart enough to recognize that and drafted to protect their star player! The Buffalo Bills otoh are not smart and are taking a huge gamble that Fitz will even survive the season. Look at The Dallas Cowboys, it took Romo getting injured and to miss part of the season before they decide to build the line. Is the current Bills O line good enough...not in my opinion!
  14. Yea well, you guys gush all you want about how good the O line is and how much they improved.... Never-mind the fact that when the pocket broke down Fitz had a yard per rush as good as Mick Vick at 6.7 YPR . That he was running for his life in some games, he was still able to make something positive out of nothing many times. That he would find the open receiver and he had the ball out in about 3 seconds most plays. That deep ball to Stevie Johnson only took 3.5 seconds before it left Fitz's hands. Never-mind the fact that Fred Jackson makes 2 tacklers miss before he hits the line. The reason why that line didn't give up as many sacks or pressures is because the QB play was remarkable from Ryan Fitzpatrick, not because the line suddenly blossomed into all pro's. When he didn't have an open receiver he was able to leave the pocket and make yards with his legs. Buffalo plays a tougher schedule this year and we will see if Fitz can survive the season with the current line.
  15. I just don't buy that, good coaches can step into a bad team and instantly make them better, not worse. Look back at Chuck Knox, he inherited a horrid team that was so bad that fans wouldn't even attend pre-season game The Bills were 3-11 under Jim Ringo in 77, Knox hired 5-11- 7-9 11-5 in 3 years playoffs all with a complete moron in Stew Barber as GM. The man was a supreme motivator and got a bunch of nobody's to believe they were good. Lets not forget that Knox needed to go up against the "don" to win the division, and he did just that. Good coaches don't need 3-5 years, 2-3 years max. Marty S is another guy that has turned around bad teams very quickly just by hiring the right assistants, implementing good schemes, and motivating the players. This is Nix / Gailey second year, lets hope they improve.
  16. Fred Jackson is everything you could want in a RB, run, block, catch, knows protection schemes, plus he is very elusive and usually makes the first 2 tacklers miss. I'd put Freddy in the top ten in the NFL if he ever had a decent line to block for him, his only problem is he is playing for Ebeneezer and his band of stooges ...that he calls coaches Freddy can make do on a bad team with a bad line, Lynch otoh needs a freaking hole to stay open more then a millisecond, even then he usually was dragging three guys in tow when he made his yardage in Buffalo. Lynch reminds me of Antowain Smith who played for the Bills, who never did figure out he was an I back and needed to sit back 10 yds behind the line to get to speed, and he needed a hole. He went to NE and won a SB with them, Belichick knew how to utilize the guy
  17. First of all, I could shiv a git about what some anonymous scout thinks. Buffalo was so lucky this year that Darius fell into their laps, thank you Denver and thank you Carolina for saving the Bills from another 3 year project at QB, even if Newton does turn out to be great.... I highly doubt he would have in a Bills Uni. Carolina so reached for a need at QB, the guy wasn't even the top rated QB this year and had a mid first round grade ...btw did I say Thank you! They didn't even draft one of the top 4 graded players, Is Modrak secretly working for them ? To think, if Carolina had drafted Darius, Denver takes Miller, Nix had Darius and Newton at the top of the Buffalo Bills draft board according to NGU. Buffalo got Mike Mayock's highest rated player in the draft with the 3rd pick, and whats crazy is Denver needed a DT a hella lot more then they did an OLB as they run a 4-3. Mayock does have some accountability because people remember what he says, besides I think he is a better talent evaluator then anyone Buffalo has had since Bills Polian. John Elway is calling the shots in Denver, and even if it was Fox's decision they still screwed themselves by not taking a much needed DT with their second pick either. I love the Darius pick, he and Kyle Williams should be a force in that middle when they do a 4-3 package. The Bills should stick with the 4-3 until they can obtain an OLB besides Kelsay... 215 rushes. like 6 pressures....lame To counter the OP article I found this ... http://bleacherrepor...-2011-nfl-draft P.S. Even if Gailey and Nix don't last past this year, the Bills will still have Darius
  18. If you look back at the history of the buffalo Bills, Chuck Knox era, Bill Polian era, they both had very good O lines with playoff appearances by Knox in the early 80's, Polian in late 80's, early 90's Although Knox didn't completely build this line, he did add to it. Knox makes the playoffs with this line, he drafts Jim Ritcher with the #1 pick in 1980 but he doesn't actually start for 3 years until 83, ends up playing LG in the NFL for 16 years, 2x pro bowls LT Ken Jones LG Reggie Mckenzie C Will Grant RG Conrad Dobler- replaced Joe DeLamielleure- tough as nails scrappy mean player, would do anything to win his one on one RT Joe Devlin Bill Polian-1986 LT Ken Jones LG Jim Richter C Kent Hull RG Will Wilford RT Joe Devlin Notice that some players on the team in 1980 were still starting in 1986 Bill Polian 1990 LT Will Wolford 86-98 7 years with the Bills LG Jim Richter 80-95 14 years with Bills C Kent Hull 86-96 10 years with Bills RG John Davis RT Howard Ballard 88-98 6 years with Bills You can have a star pro bowl player on an O line and that doesn't mean the other 4 guys will play well. This happens to be particularly true when the Bills had Jason Peters at LT, they had complete failure at the center position the entire time he was with Buffalo. The Bills O line has been a revolving door at so many positions this past decade, different coaching staffs, different players = no continuity, and that = a bad line. I can recall in 08 watching the Jets Kris Jenkins go up the middle, 3 Bills players try to block him...both guards and center... and he still got to the QB! He manhandled all 3...I can recall Phill Simms making a comment about it while watching the game, that one play might have finally gotten Jauron off his butt to draft Wood and Levitre, 2000- John Fina-Ruben Brown-Jerry Ostroski- Jamie Nails-Marcus Spriggs-Robert Hicks-2001 Bill Conaty-Corey Hulsey-Jonas Jennings-2002 Trey Teague-Marques Sullivan-Mike D Williams-2003 Mike Pucillo-Ross Tucker-2004 Lawrence Smith- Chris Villarrial-2005 - Mike Gandy- Bennie Anderson-Jason peters-2006 Tutan Reyes-Melvin Fowler-Duke Preston-Terrence Pennington-2007-Derrick Dockery- Langston Walker-Brad Butler- 2008 ----2009 Demetrius Bell-Johnathan Scott-Andy levitre- Geoff Hangartner-Eric Wood- Kirk Chambers-2010 Mansfield Wrotto- Cornell Green-Erik Pears- Chad Rinehart---37 players in 10 years, Modrak's legacy... The Bills kept scraping garbage cans in free agents-walk ons-late rounders trying to make do with scrubs, is it really any wonder why this team has been so bad for 10 years. I don't care if ya find them in the 11th round like Howard "house" Ballard as long as they can play and do their job for more then half a season
  19. Will Wolford ring any bells? The Colts used a #1 pick this year on the O line, as did the Packers, the Bears, the Cowboys, the Dolphins, The Eagles, The Patriots, The Seahawks. I suppose there wasn't any decent O linemen in the first 3 rounds that Buffalo wanted the last two drafts....
  20. The duality of man... to both love and hate
  21. http://profootball.s...=83&rc=16&pid=3 ya gotta figure if any of these players are worth a darn their teams will do everything they can to resign them
  22. Its my opinion, I'm entitled. Just like paintmyhouse is entitled to his opinion about Fitz. I now have some man love for Fitz after watching the guy play on that PoS offense week after week, and IDC what others say, I know what I saw last year. The fact that the GM-HC didn't draft a QB, plus the HC states that he can win with Fitz backs up my thoughts. Fitz could have easily given up last year, he didn't. OTOH I have very little love for that O line, RT was a revolving door last year and the LT was just about as bad as all the RT's were. Wood and Levitre are about the only 2 that should start, the rest should be back ups or not even on the team. ""The offensive line gets man-handled. . They get no push off the line, the footwork wasn't there, and they were missing assignments. On the right side, (fill in the blank) ****** gets pushed around all day. The line as a whole didn't seem in sync and wasn't giving the running game holes or sealing off any lanes. …"" Dick Jauron drafted Wood & Levitre, exactly what has kept Gailey & Nix from drafting for the O line for 2 drafts? particularly since they both stated it was a "priority" before 2010 draft . I would have thought that bringing in an offensive mined coach, that the O line would have improved, it didn't... It got worse... something I didn't think could be possible after that horrid 2009 line. The running game got worse, the YPC agv got worse. This is the reason I complain
  23. Passing league my but, from that I mean look at some of the more dominate teams in the NFL, most usually have a very good running game to balance the offense and give their young QB's more opportunities to develop properly , Ravens-Jets-Falcons ETC. This HC trying to run a spread / pistol offense with the current players on the roster is almost moronic as trying to run the 3-4 last year. Unless you have a Peyton Manning-Tom Brady it makes more sense build a dominate running attack with play action to help keep the opposing defense guessing and help take pressure off the QB. This is probably the sole reason Gaileys 08 KC's pistol offense made the QB look decent, but failed to win many games. My take is he had the exact same effect last year in making the QB look good but that alone doesn't win games. Looking at no changes made to the starters on offense leads me to think he will try and repeat exactly what he did last season, If he does he might not be the HC in 2011. Both Nix and gailey are both taking a huge gamble that Fitz and Jackson can stay healthy all year I know you hold the same type of hate for Fitz that many here hold for Losman & Edwards. I know I couldn't stand the guy previous to last year and when I looked at his history with the Rams and Bengals he did suck and I thought he should be just a back up. But then he started to play and as I watched Fitz in that Jets game I kept thinking wow this team sucks, this guy is gonna get killed and its gonna be a long season. But Fitz kept eluding the Jets pass rush, kept going into the huddle and kept trying to win, Fitz showed he wasn't a deer in headlights that Edwards and Losman were, the man showed guts, grit and determination. 0-5 at the bye, isn't that when RW gave his PP speech, Pain & patience about this same time Nix went from his famous "this team is not that far away" line to "this will take some time" But then week 7 at the Ravens 34-37 OT loss. Lewis strips the ball from the TE Nelson and Ravens kick a FG to win.... 34 points against that Ravens D, really? Fitz 29-43 382 yds 4 TD's really? I started to rethink my outlook on Fitz. Week 11at Bengals 49-31 at Cincy really ? 21-34 316 yds 4 TD's really? Week 12 at home Steeler's 19-16 in OT, and Johnson drops a TD pass in the end zone that would have won the game, really? against that 3-4 Steeler defense Fitz 23-45 265 1 TD Fred Jackson the leading receiver. At 4-12 the Bills stunk it up, but Fitz did shows flashes that he could further develop into a top QB. He had played against the Ravens-Steelers-Browns while he was the back up QB with Cincy and showed he had learned how to beat their defenses. Lets hope he will quickly learn how to beat the Patriots-Jets-Dolphins. The guy has a very quick release, can find the open receiver in 3 seconds, plus has an uncanny ability to escape the pass rush very much like Mick Vick did last year with a 6.7 YPA rush, same as Vick. I look around the league and see that Fitz grades to be in the top 15 as a starter, pretty darn good for a guy who used to be a back up QB that nobody wanted. The man won me over with his play last year, if you wanna keep hating him sok with me. Just know that this QB showed last year he is better then anything the Buffalo Bills have had at that position for quite awhile.
  24. At least now the team has an actual GM that does know talent, although I'm still not thrilled he had Cam Newton at the top of the Bills draft board. You almost really lost me with that "excellent coaching'' ...stuff. Perhaps Gailey really see's something in George Edwards to keep him on as DC, time will tell. If Gailey eventually fails it will be because just like Jauron he chose to not hire experienced veteran coaches, that may or may not be in his control considering this owner The addition of Marcel Darius was huge, firing Modrak was huge, hiring Wannstache might be a great move, again time will tell. So yea, there are some very encouraging signs this team is slowly climbing out of AFC East basement. But you know me, I won't be happy until I see that O line built up properly and a top TE acquired. It still bothers me that both this GM and HC didn't even try and build that line up first thing. I just don't see this team controlling the LoS on offense when the game is on the line.
