  1. Why do the Bills want top draft another Stanford QB that played in the WCO like Trent Edwards. It also remains to be seen if he will still be the top rated QB at the end of the season, look at Jake Locker Anyway, free agency isn't even over yet....lets wait and see.
  2. Not for nothing, but If I'm GM of Atlanta I don't let my pro bowl RT walk for any amount of money. Protecting the young QB Matt Ryan has to be a priority if this team wants to win the division against the Saints-Buc's-Panthers. In the playoffs last year, perhaps a SB soon. If I'm Clabo why would I want to leave a playoff team thats close to SB bound for any other team, unless of course they are also a playoff team. Just sayin, In my view the top priority for any player is the "ring"
  3. The Bills could have really used a pro bowl RT, stinks the Bills couldn't sign him
  4. Chan wanted another slash... perhaps to also help Spiller somehow?
  5. Belicheat was probably thinking Williams-Darius is scary...
  6. Apology accepted. What we seem to forget from time to time is that we are all Bills fans here, and we all want the best for the team. I never wish any other Bills fan anything but the best. I don't believe I ever constantly spew the team sucks over and over like you state. I merely point out the mistakes and short comings made by this new coaching staff and GM. Perhaps its just the way you choose to perceive things. If you really feel that I never have anything positive to post about the team then simply don't read my posts. When the Bills do something positive I usually respond in a positive way, perhaps you missed all my posts about how happy I was the Bills drafted Marcel Darius, or you simply overlooked them. One could also assume this is the only forum I read or post in, its not. You also need to realize that it also wears on me to read post after post from over zealous optimistic Bills fans gushing about how good the team will be this year, when I see things completely differently. I restrain myself quite often. It is my belief that if I can get others to see the facts surrounding the current team, and also understand that this owner has a long storied history of hiring bad to mediocre head coaches, and GM's... and the result of those hirings are bad to mediocre teams. History has also shown that this owner will never hire top personnel unless he is forced to by the fans. The clock is ticking...
  7. Perhaps you had a dad like that... You can draw whatever analogies about me you care to, but I'm not the doom and gloom sky is falling guy you would like to think I am. All I've ever done here is point out the mistakes, miscues and judgmental errors made by this new HC and GM.Have I ever once lied or made up stories about the mistakes made by these two men? I mean, the GM himself even stated he wasn't the "smartest guy in the room" to a bunch of media types at his first presser as GM. The same GM publicly stated the teams is "not that far away" before last season started, then after 5 weeks and no wins that tune changed to "its going to take some time" The HC defended his selection of a "waterbug" type RB with the #1 pick by stating that the RB would make the O line block better....I don't need to spew any lies or BS about those two old fools, they are like Hank Bullough- Stew Barber clones. It would be almost comical, if it wasn't so sad. You keep making personal comments about me, what I'm like, how I treat my kids, my wife. I read them and didn't comment because I don't care to make this personal. I could make some assumption's about you SJBF. Like, are you on a grand crusade to smooch RW's backside every chance you get in hopes he leaves the team to you when he passes? When your wife steps out on you, do you just look the other way... because you seem to deny the obvious. But I would never lower myself to make those type of comments about another Buffalo Bills fan simply because he doesn't see things the same way I do... If you want to bring a rational argument to me, then that is fine. OTOH, If you don't like what I post, then feel free to put me on ignore. Better yet, feel free to put your hands over your ears, close your eyes and chant naa naa naa naa naa naa naa every time you feel compelled to read one of my posts.
  8. You are thinking rushing defense was the worst because the Buffalo Bills were 3rd in total pass defense last year http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/stats/teamsort/NFL/DEF-PASSING/2010/regular I attribute the #3 defense against the pass to Dick Jauron and his constant drafting of DB's, plus the Bills retained the DB assistant coach who was under Jauron. The Bills were 32nd against the run and set a franchise worst record, that is saying something considering the back to back 2-14 seasons in the 80's. All Nix needed to do was instead of drafting 3 DL players #2 #3 #6 he needed to draft LB's, BTW not one of those DL players drafted last year made it to starter. The SD Chargers had the #1 offense and #1 defense and didn't make the playoffs, but were the worst special teams unit. All these stats do is show that a team needs balance to win, on offense and defense.I think most teams are now in a pass and stop the pass mode and that doesn't win games unless you have Aaron Rodgers
  9. This plan might hold some water if anyone on the Bills staff could even identify decent talent at any position, at any level. I like how fans here are comparing the Patriots way of building through the draft, they can build thru the draft because they already have a solid team that only needs a few upgrades and can wait for players to develop. This Buffalo Bills team doesn't even have decent starters at many positions much less decent backups, this team could stand some solid top free agent additions. But then, going back to my first sentence, I kinda doubt anyone on this staff knows the difference between a good player and a bad one. Just look at the first years draft picks and free agent acquisitions. 35 million under the cap and the plan is to bring in some ordinary joes...I can't wait until the season starts so you guys will see what I already know....
  10. Hey! look on the bright side. The Bills set a record for the franchise..... worst defense against the run Almost everyone on this board was so giddy going into free agency this year, I tried to warn ya. I've also been warning about this coaching staff and GM, nobody listening.
  11. No idea why anyone would be incensed over Andrew Luck, the Bills had a QB that played in a west coast system and ruined him
  12. Revisionist thinking again? That 2004 team went 9-7 with Bledsoe and if they had beaten the Steeler back up players in the last regular season game the Bills make the playoffs. They lost that game 9-7. That was the only Buffalo Bills team with a winning record in the last decade, so it didn't work out as badly as you put it with Bledsoe. Another thing, I'll tell you what, bringing in Bledsoe sure did put the buts in the seats after a 3-13 season. with AVP and Rob Johnson at QB! The biggest problem as I saw it with Bledsoe was the Bills couldn't protect the QB,any QB. Bledsoe was older and slower and didn't have the quickest release, but what he did have was a cannon for an arm, and if given time to get into a rhythm he was very accurate and a monster. What happened was opposing team figured out that if they can hit him early and often he would see phantom sackers and hurry his throws. The Bills answer to this was to try and make him get rid of the ball in under 4 seconds, basically trying to teach an old dog new tricks. that doesn't work if you are constantly calling 5-7 step drop deep passing plays either. What they should have done to help Bledsoe and all the QB's that have followed is build a proper offensive line, something that hasn't happened in Buffalo since the Kelly era.
  13. But he couldn't make it to the line quick enough to run the no huddle offense....
  14. No I don't agree, it was mediocre! Nix and gailey made it terrible! Nix himself stated that the team was "not that far away" as he took over a team that was 2 years removed from 7-9. Juaron scuttled the O line by cutting G Dockery and RT Walker, trading away LT Jason Peters and not replacing any of them. All Nix needed to do was replace the players Jauron cut and shore up the run defense with a decent LB or 2. Although he tried to fix those positions, instead he only made them worse with the players he brought in. Don't expect this team to go anywhere lead by Nix & Gailey
  15. It wasn't always about the HC, it was the GM in Atlanta and KC. IDC how you spin it in your mind, RW has NEVER paid top dollar for a head coach or GM, If you know different, then post a link. John Butler wanted a competitive salary, and when he refused to sign the offer that RW gave him, he was promptly fired. All I remember reading about Polian is him needing to fight with RW and JL to spend money on players, stadium improvements, the big screen etc. I'll bet he hasn't need to fight with anyone in Indy for anything. How is it that anytime the Bills found a decent GM-HC who was worth paying top dollar, they didn't keep them. You are right tho, teams don't need to spend Dan Snyder type money on a HC, all they need to do is find and hire the right man.... something that has eluded this franchise and its owner for over a decade. Again, I think its mostly because this owner refuses to pay a competitive salary to what the avg top HC's make.
  16. That wasn't the case with Chuck Knox, and he wasn't over paid, he was just paid about the avg for a top HC at the time. I didn't say anything about paying top dollar, it would be nice to have a coach who was paid the avg salary among the top coaches around the league. Face facts, 3-4 million a year buys you Costco / Walmart coaches nowadays.
  17. First of all, the team needs to be able to properly evaluate talent in the draft, free agency, undrafted free agents ECT. The Bills FO have proven that since Bill Polian that they haven't been able to properly evaluate anyone, at any position... including coaches. Everyone seems to be anointing Buddy Nix as the next Bill Polian, and yet can't explain why not one of his draft picks started for any length of time or made an impact their first year. Nix Boldly stated he was going to get some sleep when free agency opened last season, the result of that FA was RT Cornell Green. He stated last season he doesn't like to build thru free agency, so Chris Brown might just be letting fans know ahead of time what will happen. Judging by his first draft and FA signings from last season i don't have very high expectations for this years FA period.
  18. The only HC I can think of that RW paid the going rate for a top NFL HC was when he hired Chuck Knox, and that was only because he was desperate to bring the fans back. It was nearing the end of the OJ Simpson / Electric Co era with Jim Ringo-Lou Saben and RW couldn't even host a preseason game in Buffalo because fans wouldn't buy tickets. After 1976 (2-12) 1977 (3-11) seasons he finally broke down and hired Chuck Knox. The decade of the 70's was one of frustration by Bills fans, although they had OJ, the team never made it past 9-5 and never won the division and didn't beat the Miami Dolphins the entire decade of the 70's! AFAIK Marv Levy never disclosed his salary, and I'm thinking there was only one HC in the history of the franchise in the NFL that was ever paid even close to the going rate. Then, even Knox left Buffalo because after proving he could field a winner, and he wasn't given a raise. After all RW had the fans back in the seats and the stadium filled again There actually are head coaches / GM's out there who can improve a team almost immediately, history has shown us this Falcons-Chiefs- Dolphins- Saints recently The sad fact as I see it is RW got extremely lucky once when he promoted Bill Polian to GM (a kind of blind squirrel finding an acorn type of luck) and when he hired he hired an exceeding smart HC in Knox who managed to build a playoff team despite having a moron for a GM (Stew Barber) I can recall after Dick Jauron was fired someone in the FO at OBD spewing some crap about the Buffalo Bills willing to pay a HC 10 million a year, that didn't happen now did it!
  19. Just to give a little insight to what I remember about Robert Irsay vs his son Jim Irsay, complete 180 degree difference to start with. The Father Robert was a "hands on'" type of owner like Ralph Wlson-Bill Bidwill, he is the one who moved the team from Baltimore to Indy. Robert Irsay also had ex- Bill OCTed Marchibroda as his head coach of the Colts in the 70's with QB Bert Jones. While the Buffalo Bills were doornats in the 70's the Colts were winning the division (AFC East) under Marchibroda, their only problem was they couldn't get past the Steel curtain and the Pittsburgh Steelers of the late 70's. Robert Irsay gave Bert Jones a home in Baltimore to seal his contract with the Colts, but once Jones left the team Irsay took back the home he had given him (gotta read the fine print). Jones was outraged as were many fans, Irsay didn't care. What Irsay didn't know at the time was that John Elway was a huge Bert Jones fan, so when the Colts drafted John Elway #1 overall he refused to report to the team stating he would play baseball instead. The Colts seeing no other option as Elway signed and started to play MLB they traded away Elway to the Bronco's. The son, Jim Irsay watched as the Bills dominated the late 80's,early 90's with Bill Polian as GM, so when he took over the team after his father passed one of the first things he did was to hire away Bill Polian from the Carolina Panthers. The Colts used to be in the same division as the Bills so Jim Irsay knew first hand what Bill Polian did to transform the Bills from the bottom of the division to SB contenders. JIm Irsay named Polian GM pres and stood back and let him build his team into the constant division winning powerhouse it is today. Robert Irsay =rich, nose in everything prick Jim Irsay = smart, "hands off" owner
  20. It is still weird, and is still incompetent....just different people running the show. Both Nix and Gailey appear to be very well liked by fans ATM, but it just might be that anyone would look to be an improvement over Dick Jauron. From my view both Nix and Gailey are no better then Jauron or Levy, perhaps worse...only not many see it yet. I have no idea why Perry Fewell wasn't retained as HC, perhaps to be finally rid of the infamous Tampa 2 defense. Yet the new 3-4 was a disaster and even worse then any Jauron defense against the run. I can only hope that when the team flounders again this season that everyone doesn't blame the lockout, like last year was supposed to be a wash because this new staff had to evaluate the players. Anyway, Golisnao would be a huge upgrade over Wilson...then again any new owner that wants to win would be an upgrade over Wilson.
  21. Exactly, its why I choose to post about the games I attended, that I enjoyed most. One winning season the entire decade(9-7)says everything about the last ten years. After the late 80's and early 90's I would have never thought the team would slip back into being one of the worst teams in the league.
  22. What owner would not go all out to win a SB when he knows he doesn't have much time left, perhaps someone who cares more about financial stability then winning? Anyway, I feel his legacy as a Bills owner will be forever tarnished by the devoted fans who loved him so much for keeping the team here, because he doesn't care what happens once he passes.
  23. blah blah blah... Like I said earlier. I'll give it another year, maybe less and all of you will want either Gailey or Nix fired, probably both. You guys just don't see it yet, its ok. It took 3+ years for everyone to see what an idiot Jauron was. If I am wrong, (miracles do happen at times) and this team makes it to the playoffs or even makes it to a winning record over the next two years. I'll apologize if I affronted your righteous indignation of the 3 old fools running this team! in the mean time,
