  1. Show me the exact quote where I compared them, I didn't invest anything into anyone, where do you get this stuff from?...jeez Who shivs a git how the 08 team got to 3-0 or who was the QB. The ONLY reason I mentioned Edwards at all was because of the severe concussion he took in Arizona that ultimately changed the course of the 08 season, and future seasons. What I did compare was the offensive lines, and how the Bills failed to address the entire line in 08 and did the same thing again this year. Yea, we all know that injuries are part of the game and they can happen to anyone. But now that the Bills have found a QB competent enough to lead them to the playoffs they are still trying to get there with a line that has 3 guys that aren't so great at their jobs, and never have been. Its my contention that the Bills have yet to face a good defense with a good pass rush. (NE 32nd and last in the NFL in defense) (Oakland 28th in defense)( KC 23rd in defense) Fitz was injured and missed a game in 09 after the team benched Edwards, Brohm started against Atlanta... remember? Fitz missed a game last season against the Jets and Brohm started... remember? I'll wager...
  2. Did my post make any comparison at all between Fitz and Edwards? No it didn't, so you must be the one who is !@#&ing blind! Or perhaps just struggle with reading comprehension... The ONLY correlation I made between the two teams was the offensive lines! MY POST Since you brought it up tho, look at the difference between coaching staffs. You want to compare Turk Schonert to Chan Gailey? Schonert is the one who was calling plays back in 08, setting up the offense and game plans. Where is that fool now? Not even in the NFL in any capacity, that's where! Nobody stated that Edwards was as good as Fitz, all I did was merely pointing out that Fitz could very well turn into another Trent Edwards because just like all the coaching staffs in the past, this one failed to upgrade that line. What you saw at the end of Edwards career in Buffalo was the result of all those hits and concussions, which is exactly something that could happen to Fitz! But I suppose you missed the entire point ! BTW, It wasn't just one concussion or one injury, it was the cumulative effect of all the hits and concussions. Those same type of hits also ended Joe Montana's-Troy Aikman's -Steve Young's and so many others careers
  3. Not to pee in anyone's Cheerios. But! If Fitz gets a severe concussion in game 4 or beyond, and then continues to play and suffers another or more....the same thing that happened in 08 could very well happen again. I've been harping about the O line for 10 years, wanting to see the Bills build an O line like the Raiders or Jets now have. The Bills almost had a great line in 08 with Peters-Dockery-(Preston-Fowler) Butler-Walker. The problem was the center position that was never properly upgraded and consequently they never stabilized into a top unit. I still don't trust half that current O line and I hope Fitz doesn't get F'd up like Edwards because of that line.
  4. The Bills got 4 INT's off Brady with not much pressure on him, just another perspective... Brady threw 4 INT's all last season!! So yesterdays game was just lady luck making a correction for the last 19 games The Bills did beat the Patriots, revel in it, bask in it, and feel good for at least a week. But then realize that its a long 16 game season and the Patriots and Jets will win most of their games
  5. Hey Scrappy, should we all expect the same from you? I recall you also being very pessimistic about this season not long ago.
  6. Ditto, loving it that I was wrong about Chan winning a big game against the Bills biggest rival. I never thought they could beat the devil himself, but they did.. I was wrong about Gailey and the coaching staff... I hope they keep proving me wrong all year!
  7. I hope you willed those 4 INT's also
  8. OMG...Freddy... thank you!
  9. wow....just wow
  10. Watching the NFL Today with Charley Casserly and talking about Fitz's contact He states Fitzscreamy is only making around 3.2 million this year and if the Buffalo Bills want to keep him for next season they would need to franchise tag him, and it will be for one year at between 14-15 million dollars.. A comparable player Kevin Cobb got 11 mill a year and over 20 mil guaranteed, Casserly thinks Fitz is a better player Anyway, so what will Fitz do? sign a new contract this year or wait until the end of the season? I've heard the Bills already made him a contract offer and he turned it down. Winning comes at a price, will you know who pay up? or will they let him walk and draft a rookie?
  11. Why not just go to ESPN and look up the rushing stats for 2010... http://espn.go.com/n.../false/count/41 In 2010 Fitz was the 63rd overall rated rusher, just one spot ahead of New Orleans RB Pierre Thomas. at 40 attempts, 269 yards a 6.7 yards per rush / avg. To put that into perspective, the NYJets Brad Smith (now Bills wildcat QB) was 58th and had 38 attempts for 299 a 7.9 yards per rush / avg. - Mike Vick was 36th with 100 attempts and 676 yards, a 6.8 yard per carry avg. Fitzscreamy is definitely more of a pocket passer then Mike Vick and there is no doubt that he doesn't strike fear into defenses with his scrambling ability like Vick does. But there is also no doubt that the guy is pretty darn more elusive then most NFL QB's.He was better then Tim Tebow last year More perspective, Drew Brees was -0.2 Payton Manning was 1.0 Tom Brady was 1.0 which equates to 31 attempts at rushing and 30 yards rushed= 1.0 ypc avg
  12. In regards to that article, Peters made the pro bowl in 07 and Rhodes was ranked as the top 29th player in the league that year. So perhaps at the time he was trying to destroy their confidence, but instead looks like it ended up giving them both motivation to play better, because they both did. JMO
  13. Yea, that guy must have missed the first Jets game last season, the one where Fitzscreamy was the leading rusher. Only Mike Vick had a slightly better YPC avg last season.
  14. Both the Jets and Ravens have both shown how to beat the Patriots in the playoffs the last 2 years. Last year in the playoffs the Jets did it with 5 sacks on Brady, they also ran the ball well and protected QB Mark Sanchez who went 16-25 194 yds 3 TD's passing. In 2009 WC playoff game in NE the Ravens did it with 234 yards rushing to NE's measly 64 yards rushing, they also sacked Brady 3 times. The biggest difference between those two games was that Joe Flacco had only 4 completions with 10 attempts and 64 yards passing. From what I saw both those teams were able to run the ball to control the game, plus they both had good defenses that were able to put pressure on Brady. Pressure on Brady is the key IMO, plus Freddy and CJ playing keep away with the ball thus keeping Brady cold on the sidelines. KW and MD are Buffalo's best D linemen, if they get get pressure up the middle and not let Brady step up in the pocket.... But yea, there are other factors that will help the Bills win, better turnover ratio, better time of possession, better tackling. But the biggest way to stop the Patriots is to get in Brady's face and sack him, harass him and never let him get comfortable in the pocket. Lets hope the D is up to the task
  15. I disagree, we don't know if Luck can even develop into an NFL QB yet, he is 100% hype Fitzscreamy otoh is well versed in reading NFL defenses, finding the open receiver in under 3 seconds and making the plays needed to win games. Right now Fitz is making a crap O line much better then it really is because he gets the ball out so quickly, sorta Payton-esq. There were tons of posts in the off season stating Fitz would never be a top QB. I must have made over 100 posts refuting those claims. Just by watching what he did against the Bengals-Steelers-Ravens last year showed me that he learned how to beat those defenses while he was the back up and part time starter for the Bengals. If this team needs something right now its a QB that can learn how to beat Rex Ryan's & Bill Belichik's defensive schemes, and judging by what Fitzscreamy did last season, I think he can! This team still has many other needs and problems to be corrected besides a new QB to develop
  16. Same here, pretty funny to hear a grown man with a beard scream like that...but then he just won the game on a blown defensive coverage to a wide open receiver...on 4th down! after hearing that I'd advise him to never be mic'ed up again, gonna be tough to live that scream down
  17. So did Chan, he didn't bring in Fitz, Freddy or Stevie. If fact Chan thought Trent Edwards was the better QB last off season and kept Brian Brohm. I still happen to think the Bills are doing better because Fitzbeardy stepped up and is playing great, along with fast Freddy. I happen to like Buddy Nix now, Modrak was still here for his first draft so he gets the blame for that failure in my view. Buddy has managed to finally fire Modrak (cheer, 10 years of incompetence now gone) and find guys off the street to bolster the LB corps and O line. Plus he found a freaking decent tight end, something that has been missing for a decade. However, I also think the lack of talent and depth on the O line is going to haunt this team all year.... Someone pointed out that Chan got a raw deal while OC at KC, and yet Chan was the one who ignored using the run game and kept constantly calling passing plays with back up QB's. That really makes no sense to try and force the back up QB to win games, its like something Jauron would do. Plus the man had 6 years at Georgia Tech as HC and never once in those six years did his teams ever beat the Georgia Bulldogs, GT's biggest rival. So to look at this upcoming Patriot game "IN" Buffalo and see that most of the Bills players are healthy and coming off a 2 game win steak so that they have good confidence in themselves. The Patriots also have some injuries and have the worst defense against the pass in the NFL, Chad Henne put up big numbers against that Patriots secondary (416 yds), Fitzbeardy should have a field day! No excuses! To me this game is HUGE! The Fabulous Dick Jauron even managed to almost beat the Patriots IN NE with Trent Edwards as QB a 24-25 loss that wasn't Edwards fault. The KR decided to come out of the end zone and allow himself to be stripped of the ball. Plus the fact the Bills simply couldn't run the ball effectively at the end of the game to control the clock and end the game. What will define Chan Gailey as a HC for the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East is to be able to beat the Patriots and Jets like Marv levy did, until then he is still no better then Jauron
  18. The Bills won 2 games so far...one against a horridly bad team, and one against a not so bad team, but with a rookie HC, new OC, new DC. Plus the Raiders were missing all their starting WR's and TE. The Bills won that game on 4th down against a blown defensive coverage. The Bills defense still not very good at stopping the run despite 2 drafts almost completely dedicated to the defense The thing I was wrong about is that Gailey actually started this year by utilizing Fred Jackson more and using good run blocking schemes, plus he is running the ball more then I thought he would.Showing good overall offensive balance. When he didn't upgrade the O line and brought in Brad Smith I thought he would constantly run college plays, "Wildcat"- Options-"pistol". Chan is also utilizing the tight end more then has shown in the past, or perhaps that is Fitz finding the big guy. BUT! Not to pee in anyone's cheerios it has only been 2 games, even the fabulous Dick Jauron went 5-1 with Trent Edwards at QB, and finished 7-9 leading us to believe the team would improve. Its a long season and the Bills are paper thin at so many positions.I think most diehard fans who watched the games last season knew Fitz was capable, and the Bills didn't need to draft a rookie QB to take 3-4 years to develop. They also knew Jackson was capable. My problem is that O line is still very suspect and although they blocked well against the Chiefs and Raiders. Can they play well against the good teams, in the 4th QTR ...when the game is on the line ...against top players? I looked at the Raiders O line with envious eyes and still want the Bills to be able to run against teams like the Raiders can. In my view Freddy J is going to be all used up by the end of the season, you just don't run a Jaguar on the baha....well you can, but it will just F it up. Fred should be the back up-change of pace RB and 3rd down back. Kinda like the Chiefs used Jamaal Charles last year. He would still get a ton of touches. The Bills need a Thomas Jones -Michael Bush type to soften up the opposing defense. Also, Fitz is gonna get killed at some point this year when he tries to pass and he doesn't have 3 seconds. The question is will he end up like Losman & Edwards with concussion syndrome or hearing phantom sackers ? The thing that has changed in my mind is that Chan Gailey had his team very prepared this season, unlike last season. Plus he has shown that he really knows how to prepare his players and get them to play tough disciplined football, very few mental mistakes, something that is very important.. Something i didn't see a lot of last season. Gailey "might" be able to compete in the AFC East "IF" he can beat the Patriots and Jets at least once. He still needs to show he can beat Rex Ryan's Jets- Bill Belichick's Patriots So mark me down as not ready to admit I was wrong just yet
  19. lady luck doesn't shiv 2 gits about the intangibles... whats the saying? ...on any given Sunday If the Bills get some breaks (lord knows they deserve some against the Patriots) and a big push up the middle to harass Brady...then anything can happen!
  20. How many players suffered a career ending injury before they hit 7-8 years? Guys that could have become HoFers but a severe injury-concussions didn't allow them. The NFL is riddled with players just like that and not just sucky players. Ask Bo Jackson(4yrs)-Terrell Davis (7yrs)Gale Sayers played 5 years ( injured knee 2x and really played 6 years)and is IN the HOF but just imagine what records he could have broken if he played more then SIX measly years. Still don't buy it...ask Kevin Everett (2 yrs) as the list is almost endless... My take is FJ is as good if not better then y2k, AD because he is getting it done on an inferior team. Just imagine what this guy could do if he played for the Patriots or Jets and their very good O lines PAY>>>THE>>>MAN
  21. Ya gotta understand that the avg lifespan of an NFL player is 3 short years. The guy has been the best RB on the team for awhile now, they draft a kid in the first round and Jackson made him look like a bum. If he doesn't take a stand for what he feels he is worth, then who will? Go watch that Raider game again and watch Jackson lead block for Spiller, not many other RB's in the league would say ok to that play and go out and be the fullback. This man is a rare and special talent, he might not have the speed of Chris Johnson but he certainly has better moves and is able to break arm tackles and make plays that first round draft picks like Lynch and McGahee couldn't make. The Bills are taking a big gamble by not paying him what he is worth as they have nobody behind him anywhere near his talent level. RB's take a brutal pounding each week and arguably have the toughest job in the NFL, its why most team are going with 2 RB's instead of one back now. (see the second sentence) He is a team leader and inspirational leader as the team rallied behind him Sunday after that long TD run that sparked that great comeback. I have no problem with him voicing his concerns over what he is currently being paid... In two years when his career is over will the Bills give him more money then.... or simply cut him and say buh bye!
  22. Plus given the lack of depth behind him.... c'mon he is currently the leading rusher in the NFL, and if Nixiley would bolster the O line properly he would be even better
  23. Yea, week 3....just like in the home opener in 1980 when the Bills beat the Miami Dolphins for the first time since the 60's... that's right, they didn't win against Don Schula's Dolphins the entire decade of the 70's! Those goal posts came down the very first game of the 1980 season under Chuck Knox. This game would be almost similar to that 1980 Miami game as the Bills haven't won against the Patriots since 2000. I don't count the 2003 game where the Pats had just released safety Lawyer Milloy and he was picked up a week before the season opener to give the Bills the Patriots game plan, the result was 31-0 Bills win. I remember those post coming down during that (fandemonium) Jets game, the goal posts were passed right around the stadium all the way up to Ralph Wilsons box. Bills fans are accustomed to high levels of frustration, and venting. NFN, but 1500 security guards with dogs, tasers, night sticks, and riot gear won't be able to stop 80,000 fans ...if they want those goalposts
  24. Okie... You have some very valid points, we have all seen this before under Jauron in 08 with Turk Schonert as OC, the Bills started the 08 season 5-1, and then fell on their face the rest of the year. The Bills looked great in comeback wins over the Jags, Raiders and Chargers and, most everyone was anointing Trent Edwards as the next Joe Montana....(don't lie about this) ...I remember reading post after post from fans gushing about how great this QB played in those first 5 games. We all saw great QB play for awhile in Drew Bledsoe in 2004, and the team going 8-8 and owning the weaker teams with blowouts by the Bills much like this years Chiefs game. But then both those teams imploded on their own, Edwards with several concussions, no running game, Bledsoe couldn't escape a good pass rush.... meanwhile those coaches wanted Bledsoe to get rid of the ball quicker and throw deep at the same time... Now, you wanna talk skeptics... I think I rank right up there with the best of them, just ask SJBF. BUT! This team has shown definite improvement from last season even against a bad team (chiefs) and not such a bad team(raiders). Chan Gailey had me fooled to a degree, I had thought by bringing in Brad Smith and neglecting the O line in the draft that he would constantly run gadget- trick plays with the "Wildcat" and "pistol" offense. Instead the team has shown remarkable balance with an ability to run the ball when needed (25 rushes last game) instead of just constantly trying to throw on every down. Plus he is spreading out the offense just like ole Ted Marchibroda did back in the day with Jim Kelly. I knew from Fitzbeardys play from last season that he had the ability to lead this team to wins, his play so far this year has been remarkable 4 TD's while only throwing for 208 yards against the Chiefs. 3 TD's 264 yards against a decent Raider defense., 7 TD's in 2 games. I knew Fred Jackson was a beast, and if that O line had been upgraded 2 years ago he would be getting 1500+ yards a season. Now, is that O line very thin in depth, yep! shoot the entire team seems to be paper thin in depth, but all the starters are playing pretty good so far. Is Fitzbeardy the only decent QB who can run this offense on the roster, yep! Lets hope the line can keep protecting him and not allow a blitzer to concuss or injure him. Do the Bills miss Lee Evans, not from what I've seen so far. Fitzbeardy has managed to spread the ball around and the Bills have even found a huge target at TE that can actually be a red zone threat! Starting to look like that k-gun / no huddle offense of the Kelly days. I gotta tell you... I'm very impressed from what I've seen offensively so far this year. Play calling-game planning-blocking schemes and the overall play from the players shows that they actually know what the are doing out there on the field...huge difference from the start of last season. Anyway the biggest test of this new team with be this week against the Patriots who we all know are a playoff caliber team and have been for the last decade under Belichick. A team the Bills haven't beaten since Lawyer Milloy was a Bill in 2003 and even that win was a fluke as Milloy gave us the Patriots game plan. Lets face it, the Bills haven't honestly straight up outright beaten the Patriots since Wade Phillips was HC in 2000. Do i expect this newly formed Bills team to go out next Sunday and beat a team Belichick has been refining and upgrading for a decade, with 3 time SB winning Tom Brady at the helm? Not really, but if they show that they at least can compete with the division leader... then they will show that they have a definite future chance to beat them under this HC and staff. Now...imagine what will happen if the Bills do beat the Patriots in Buffalo Sunday, the curse will be broken and those goal posts had better come down just like they did in big games during the golden era.
