Just an FYI. For those that want an autograph Bruce Smith is signing at the Diplomat Party House, One Diplomat Way, in Rochester this Saturday. Marv levy is also signing, 25$ any item Cost is 70$ a flat. 80$ for helmet or Jersey and 15$ on top of that if you want him to put HoF on it... http://www.thepurplepeopleeaters.com/ PS I called and asked why 70-80 $ and was told Smith and his agent set the price. John Elway asks 150.00, so 80$ not that bad

What NFL game interests you most this week?
thewildrabbit replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll be rooting for the Broncos, not just because of Tebow either, And I'll be rooting for the Chargers -
I'm thinking if the Bills can get healthy it looks like 4-5 wins, and that would still be huge at 8-8 -9-7 Even if they should lose the rest of the games for some reason and go 4-12 again, at least the world knows the Bills have finally found the right QB, GM and HC. Its just a matter of filling in positions of need.

Gailey is screwing our draft position
thewildrabbit replied to maryland-bills-fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope he screws it so hard that the Bills draft last.... or as close as they can get to last . Pound it Chan -
wow so sad, a great Bills player gone...so young My Condolences to his family

Sucks man, sorry to hear that. Both my son and wife went to that game and they both stated the exact opposite of what you are saying about the Giants fans, they said the fans treated them both very well. They both loved the stadium with the escalators and said they had a great time. . From talking to my son who goes to the Jets games also, the worst fans by far are the Jets fans no question.

I don't see how, Palmer has been sitting at home.. and even if he has been working out and throwing he has no timing down with any of the current Raider receivers. How long will it take him to get into football shape where he knows the current system, understands the terminology. I mean c'mon, he was regressing his last two years in Cincy. I don't see this as a very smart move, not for 2 first rounders. Plus Campbell should be back in 6 weeks, what then? This move was born out of emotion and desperation to make the playoffs, seems so foolish.

Fitz's 2 INT's were bad mechanics, awful
thewildrabbit replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In the Cincy game Fitz was under pressure quite a bit and threw some pretty wild passes, he did the same thing in the Giants game to a degree. So yea he is susceptible to pressure and will hurry his passes at times. But then so does every QB in the league, Tom Brady 4 int's- Mike Vick 4 INT's Fitz is labeled a "gunslinger" and with him you are gonna get some bad throws as he tries to fit it into places he shouldn't. But this year when not under heavy pressure in games he has been very accurate IMO. I look at this loss and the Bengals loss as Gaileys fault for not running the ball more and also for not utilizing Brad Smith more often. Gailey has to know that O line has two replacement players and should be doing everything he can to take pressure off Fitz, run the ball more. Plus the Bills had to move Levitre from guard to LT at the end of that game because Hairston was injured. Considering all the injuries to that O line and WR corps I'd say that fans should be happy with a 4-2 record. Hopefully players will get healthy and the line start protecting like it did at the start of the season -
are we really that bad of a defense?
thewildrabbit replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea the Bills are a really bad defense, and they are a freaking sieve... 31st in total defense, 30th in passing defense, 29th in rushing defense... in yardage allowed I'm not certain if its all the coaching or play calling or players just not good enough, or players not disciplined enough ...ONLY because Chan Gailey still believes in this DC... then perhaps in time it will get better. But right now this is a bad defense that has been very lucky with turnovers NFN, but If I'm Gailey I'd be looking at someone like Eric Mangini, and see if he would be interested in the coordinators job as the man does know defense and may want to coach again. There was some speculation that he was asked to be a consultant for the Eagles but turned it down. Stop and think about how much better this team would be with a top ten defense, playoffs for sure and they could actually have a chance to win once they get there! -
Is it just me or does the playcalling seem misguided
thewildrabbit replied to Since 1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Only one play I'd call different, 3rd and short instead of going into a closed formation (short yardage-goal line type) I'd have sent in Brad Smith to convert those 3rd and shorts. Or simply keep running plays out of a spread, QB sneak comes to mind. Seems like the TE is the forgotten man after week 3, dunno why. Anyway like others have stated the offense is fine considering all the injuries, its the defensive sieve I am concerned about. -
Mike Mayock ranked MD as the best player in the draft. and he looks to be a steal over Miller. So I doubt the Bills will never have any regrets with him over AJ Green.

Gone have to start taking shots down field
thewildrabbit replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Think I read a stat somewhere that Fitz only attempted 3 passes of more then 10 yards in that Eagles game... Bills missing Lee Evans to stretch the field? No real time to throw deep routes? Probably the reason he is sacked so few times this year, and probably the reason why that O line was able to play so well with a rookie at LT. -
One thing I've learned the hard way in Fantasy football, don't draft with your heart, I stay away from all Buffalo players. This year Fred Jackson is tearing it up, but who knows how long that will last. Plus, i stay away from teams who don't care about character, like the Bengals.Seriously, Cedric Benson should have been suspended for that Bills game. One of their young receivers was just involved in a huge drug shipment that arrived at his house The only way Smith or Spiller see any real playing time this season is if FJ gets injured.

Didn't Loyd cause some serious problems with the 49ers? 7 year pro, and 4 different teams. Niners-Redskins-Bears-Broncos He did have a break out year last season under McDaniel's 77 rec 1440 yards so now take that pick the Bills got for Lee Evans and trade it to Denver to get this guy? ""WR Brandon Lloyd has converted 87 of 96 catches over the last two seasons into first downs. His 90.6 conversion rate is the highest first-down reception percentage in the NFL, ahead of Chicago's Johnny Knox (55 of 65, 84.6 percent)."" (Yahoo! Sports) hrmmm, Eric Decker...

Just another point to consider, while Aaron Rodgers may have the best receiver corps in the NFL ....whats does Chicago have, one of the worst? Kinda of unreal that this team even made it to the NFC Championship last season No deep threat, no tight end as they traded TE Greg Olsen to Carolina for some unknown reason. Its almost like they are daring Cutler to succeed. The GM is a complete moron to state that its mostly Cutlers fault and he needs to get the ball out quicker...to who exactly I have no idea WR's Johnny Knox Devin Hester-Roy Williams ( the guy Dallas traded for who stinks)- TE Kellen Davis.. their leading receiver is RB Matt Forte...Knox their leading WR has 14 receptions for 254 yards. Just to give some insight, NE with Wes Welker has 45 receptions with 740 yards. Oh yea, wanted to add this from Yahoo Sports: QB Jay Cutler may have played his best game in the face of heavy pressure from the Lions that forced him to move around in the pocket or scramble in the backfield until a receiver came open. Despite three more sacks and several additional hits and pressures, not to mention at least three more drops by his receivers, Cutler completed 28 of 38 passes for 249 yards, one touchdown, no interceptions and a passer rating of 99.6. George Wilson named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Yea I agree, the Bears HC knows defense and looks to know very little about how to run an offense As if that Bears O line wasn't bad enough last year, they lost their starting center 14 year vet Olin Kreutz at the beginning of this year to free agency to the Saints Anyway the HC seems pretty lame to me to allow their QB to continue take the beating he is taking and then make statements like: Smith said he was not concerned over the continued abuse that Cutler has been taking. "That's part of football," Smith said. "Jay's a big boy; he can take it. Sometimes quarterbacks get knocked down." http://www.cbssports...-or-stay-onside So many NFL analysts have stated they think Cutler is a unique talent, and that he could be in the top 5 of "elite" QB's in the league if he had a decent line and was in a better scheme. Cutler is on pace to get sacked 75 times this year....poor Bears fans, but better them then the Bills http://bleacherrepor...e-chicago-bears

Yea they are, Chan Gailey is the midwife, and Nix is the father... they are going the wholistic approach...4 more wins means at least an 8-8 season, so by that analogy I'm hoping for duodecaplets! http://profootballta...-fans-the-baby/

The Bills' method of winning is unsustainable.
thewildrabbit replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here is the reason for this post! The Bills have recently been down the 4-1 road before, in 2008 in fact! All it took was one missed blocking assignment and a severe concussion on the QB to ruin that team for the 08 season. The effects of that concussion didn't manifest itself right away, but sometimes that's how they work. Will this Bills team go down that same road as that 8 team and tank the season? Good Lord I hope not because it looks like the Bills have finally found their QB. Guys, get a freaking grip on reality! This Bills defense is bad, how bad you ask? Currently 30th in the league bad, 29th in rushing bad, 26th in passing bad. They have no real pass rusher except Darius as Kyle Williams was blanked in Sundays game, no pressures, no tackles, no assists. Is he injured? George Wilson, Marcel Darius and Nick Barnett all made the defense look good. Still the defense allowed 489 yards to Vick & co. While the Bills offense was able to gain 331 yards, most of that was all Fred Jackson, 111 yards rushing, 85 receiving ...almost 200 yards of offense just from Freddy! The biggest reason the Bills were so successful on offense was because the HC of the Eagles took the O line coach and turned him into the DC this year, what a completely boneheaded move. The Bills spread offense forced the Eagles into a nickle package which the Bills exploited beautifully, the Eagles thought they could control FJ with just two LB's, needless to say the Eagles team can't tackle, isn't disciplined and shouldn't be playing a cover scheme with Nnamdi Asomugha...the freaking morons!! To the people that think turnovers aren't pure luck, you guys are delusional. Every team in the NFL teaches their players to try and strip the ball, intercept the ball, recover fumbles, every team! Just wait and watch what happens when the Bills fail to get turnovers, it won't be pretty! The Buffalo Bills are currently the #1 team in the NFL in turnover ratio! (Now this statistic might just be the only unsustainable) not the Steelers, not the Packers, not the Patriots. Do the Bills have a defense filled with pro bowlers? well maybe just one right now, Mr everywhere! Currently Buffalo is11th in total offense. They are 13th in passing offense and 4th in rushing offense. Needless to say as well as Fitzscreamy is playing, Fred Jackson is playing almost on another level and carrying this team. Wanna know an interesting fact? Fitzscreamy attempted only 3 passes over 10 yards against the Eagles! Its that spread offense and Fitz's ability to get the ball to the open receiver in 3 seconds that negates most pass rush against him. If you noticed in both the Bengals & Eagles game that when the Bills utilized a closed formation and tried to run and throw they were less successful. Both the Buffalo offense and defense can be exploited, the defense by a team with a power running game, the offense by stacking the box and jamming-knocking the receivers out of their routes. Thus causing Fitz to hold the ball longer, and attempt deeper passes. which he tried to do against Cincy, the result was he hurried many passes and they went wild. Probably why Marvin Lewis guaranteed a win against Buffalo and was able to pull it out with a rookie QB behind center. The Raiders this year fielded a brand new HC, new OC, new DC. The Patriots have the worst defense in the league and the best offense. Buffalo managed to get 4 INT's on Brady, a guy who only threw 4 INT's in all of last season! KC was a horridly bad team at the start of the year. The Bills have had some lucky breaks go their way so far this year (about time) and hopefully it will continue and the Bills keep winning. So unsustainable? Maybe yes, maybe no! It all depends on how that oblong spheroid bounces and how good their opponents play them. The Bills are currently tied in the AFC East with the Patriots and look to be better then the Jets and Dolphins. But the Bills still face the, 3-2 @ NY Giants, 3-1 Redskins up north, 2-2 @ Cowboys, 3-2 Titans, 4-1 @ Chargers, 4-1 @ Patriots. -
The Lions won 24-13 with QB Matt Stafford, RB Jahvid Best and WR Calvin Johnson as the heroes. Megatron played great and that Lion O line played pretty well as they opened holes for the RB to go untouched to the end zone on that long scoring run. They also gave Stafford decent time to pick that Bear defense apart. Lions 5-0 along with Green Bay as the only 2 teams undefeated. They both meet on Thursday, Nov 24th, Thanksgiving day. To be perfectly honest I expected this years Bills O line to somewhat resemble that Bears O line that has allowed Jay Cutler to be sacked 18 times so far this year. Cutler is after all playing in that notoriously bad (for getting the QB killed) Mike Martz passing offense. Plus, that Bears O line had 9, that's right...NINE false starts. Anyway, I can't say enough about how well Jay Cutler played in that crappy offense while running for his life. The Bears did have some success running the ball, but every time Cutler went back to pass it was a constant jailbreak, and he managed to make some amazing plays considering how much pressure he was under all game long. I have to give Gailey and his staff props for the way that offense has played so far this year. Even with a rookie LT sub in for Bell who is out with an injury, Chris Hairston played very well considering it was his first start in the NFL at LT. Young players on the line and at WR and no boneheaded mistakes or miscues. Gailey has his team playing tough, both mentally and physically. I can't state enough how important this type of play is, reminds me of Marv levy and his "don't be dumb, don't be dirty" style. Watching that bear-Lion game reminded me of just how bad that Bills offense was under Jauron with Fairchild- Schonert- van Pelt calling the offensive plays and setting up game plans that were so easily defeated. As I watched that MNF game I couldn't help but think that is what Edwards and Losman used to look like in a lot of games for the Bills. Gotta give both Nix and Gailey credit for turning this team around in only their second year, I honestly didn't think they would be this good this fast! 4-1, who knew! P.S. that Baby is about to pop out any day now, 4 more wins will do it! Another victory over the Patriots and its twins. Wins over both the Dolphins and Jets and into the playoffs its Quintuplets

The Bills' method of winning is unsustainable.
thewildrabbit replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be honest I expected to see them play like somewhat like this at the end of last season, but then they were whomped in the last two games against the Jets and Patriots. . Well, not as good as this, the Bills have exceeded my expectations in many aspects so far this year. If you watched that MNF game with the Lions and Bears and both line were making so many mistakes and miscues, and as young as the Bills are on that line they are playing way better then expected. Anyway, right now the Bills lead the NFL in turnovers. While that is something you can practice for, tip drills etc, you can't game plan that in. Also you can't expect that every game. Right now the Bills are incredibly lucky and that ball has been bouncing the right way for them all year so far. Perhaps this is just lady luck catching up to Buffalo for a decade of the ball bouncing the opposite way. All I gotta say is, what happens when that ball starts bouncing the other way again? It will show the flaws in the offense and defense, and there are plenty! -

The Bills' method of winning is unsustainable.
thewildrabbit replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with the OP Last years Patriots had a bad defense statistically and yard wise, but they had a great turnover ratio and they won a lot of games. But that defense with a young secondary with not much pass rush was eliminated in the playoffs by a better defense. The Patriots have a bad defense again this year but are winning games with that Tom Brady run offense, great running game and great set of receivers. It also doesn't hurt that they have one of the top O lines in the NFL that give Brady so much extra time to slide around in the pocket to find an open receiver, sometimes to the tune of +6 seconds on many occasions Like the Patriots the Buffalo Bills have some serious flaws.. While the O line is generally doing a great job, its no where near as good as the Patriots. Because Fitz has such a quick release and is able to find the open receiver in 3 seconds or under it masks a ton of flaws. They weren't able to power run block on close formations to control the clock when needed against the Bengals or Eagles in the 4th QTR It cost them the Bengals game and almost cost them the Eagles game. The same can be said when the opposing defense takes away the quick short passes and make Fitz look for deeper targets it creates havoc with the line and Fitz's mental clock to get the ball out. He starts hurrying his passes and doesn't set up properly, the result is some wild passes. That Buffalo Bills line can get better with more playing experience and continuity, the more they play the better they will get, no question. The line does very well out of the spread formation, but its that closed in formation that needs work, and they need to learn how to drive opponents off the line to make those critical 3rd and short yards by running. This will be especially true once the snow falls, the Bills will need to learn to build a power running game and get Spiller - Smith more involved. The Bills need to learn how to run to control the clock when they have the lead at the end of games The defense as some of their own unique problem that cannot be solved by simply more playing time. They need a better scheme and perhaps a better overall defensive strategist to call the plays and set up the defense. They still aren't very good at stopping the run- 28th overall-28th in rushing defense-25th in passing while #1 in the NFL in turnover ratio. They won't get 5+ turnovers every game. They have the players in the secondary to be an elite defense, they lack an elite DE and LB. The flaws have been masked so far by some lucky breaks, but those breaks won't always be there and they need to improve in stopping the run and getting pressure on the QB just my 2 cents
