Whats up with the all white uniforms this Sunday at home? First time in 25 years since the Bills players wore all white, same year JK was a rookie. The Bills want the fans to wear all white also? 50k white pom poms to be given out?

The Defense was so great on Sunday

Some of both, but the Bills moved MD to NT and he had a monster game. I'd still like to see MD and KW at DT with the Bills playing solid 4-3 -
Brad Smith - Are we using him correctly?
thewildrabbit replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree! I would like to see Smith being utilized more in running plays, end a round's, options, wildcat et al. Just to spell Fred Jackson more often. As for Smith throwing it more, I'd rather leave that to Fitz -
Do the bills have the best O-line in the NFL?
thewildrabbit replied to buffalover4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So many posters here just don't get it, and probably never will! What does it say about an offensive line when two starters go out (LT& RT)and they still play well, this in itself would usually decimate a team. The Washington Redskins come to mind. Then the backup LT who is a rookie plays well, then he goes out and the guard moves over to LT and the line still plays well. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Fitz and Fred make that line look so much better then actually it is. Fitz has an uncanny ability to find the open receiver and deliver the ball to him in 3 seconds or under, so yea...he earned his payday! QB ""The team that takes the shortest amount of time to throw is the Buffalo Bills. Fitzpatrick, also a top-10 quarterback according to Total QBR, has to get the ball out so quickly because Buffalo's offensive line is the second-worst in the league at allowing pass pressure within three seconds in the pocket."" Just wanted to add this: http://articles.nyda...cks-chris-canty The NY Giants changed their style of defensive play just for Fitz. ""The Giants' pass rush won't necessarily surrender Sunday, but it will change tactics. Big Blue has piled up 11 sacks since Umenyiora's Week 4 return, but isn't likely to get many against Buffalo. On average, Fitzpatrick fires the ball just 1.5 seconds after taking the snap, Umenyiora said. "On set plays," Umenyiora said, "nobody can get to him." A great QB can make an average line look good, if you don't have a great QB...you had better have a damn good offensive line -
A Few Thoughts About The Game

That Redskin offense was teribadgodamnaweful... dare I say the Bills lucked into a team decimated by key injuries with virtually no depth behind them on that O line. I'm hoping the Bills defense can play like this again against the Jests this upcoming Sunday. statistically they actually have a worse offense, the 29th ranked offense, 28th running the ball Man, a win next week would go a long way to helping the Bills get a you know what spot -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
thewildrabbit replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No he isn't, the starting guard was moved to the LT position, he was never listed as a LT on the depth chart. If they had moved Young to LT then you could say they were on their 3rd tackle at the LT position. When Bell or Hairston get healthy they will be the starting LT again and Levitre will move back to guard. Evan the depth chart on the Bills website still lists Levitre as the starting guard http://www.buffalobi...epth-chart.html The entire point you were trying to make is how many more sacks the Bills could have gotten if the Redskins were starting their 3rd string LT, well they don't have a guard with LT experience they can slide over! That Redskin O line is horrifically bad! http://www.washingto...truggles-on-fu/ Plus the fact that the Washington starting #1 receiver and #1 RB didn't play. Like I said, take away the 194 yards that Fred Jackson put up, and the 57 yards Johnson got and then put in Tyler Thigpen for Fitz and Bills wouldn't look much better then the Redskins, maybe worse -

How many rings does Jordan have? Because Luck is graded out to be the best QB since 1983 and John Elway. Luck is rated as good as John Elway, the first player selected in that 83 draft. Not Dan Marino who was taken 27th by the Dolphins in the first round. Yea same, I hope the Jets,Pats and Phins all ruin each others year -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
thewildrabbit replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Skins were also without their starting WR Santana Moss, which would be like the Bills losing Stevie Johnson. Then Tim Hightower was the starting RB, and the reason that Torain got the nod for one game was because Hightower was slightly injured, and has been slightly injured. Hightower is now on IR! So imagine the Bills without RB Fred Jackson and WR Stevie Johnson.... Clearly the Redskins player injury losses were far more significant then the Buffalo Bills were, look at which team won the game And look how many points that Redskin offense scored. That Bills 30th ranked defense just jetted up in the rankings without the starting NT and OLB. -

Manning underwent another surgery on his neck in September at the start of the season, his 3rd procedure in 19 months. There is no doubt that Manning needed the surgery. http://espn.go.com/n...re-surgery-neck What I'm implying is that the most brilliant GM / president in the NFL in Bill Polian went into this season with no alternative at QB besides Curtis Painter, who looked halfway decent at QB during the preseason. But then just before the season starts the Colts bring in and start an old vet QB Kerry Collins who had a history of being a bad QB when thrown into a new system, he went on IR after week 3. Can you explain how the Saints played against the Rams this week? I mean the previous week the Saints beat the Colts 62-7 with 38 rushing attempts by Saints RB's. Then they go to St Louis this week, against a team who had just been beaten like a red headed stepchild by the Cowboys, the Rams allowed the Cowboy rookie RB to rush for 253 yards on 25 carries. So what does the brilliant mind of Sean Payton do? Does he try and run the ball, hell no! Saints RB's only had 19 rushes against the worst defense against the run in the NFL. Makes no sense to me. -

Somehow I don't see any team besides the Colts getting Andrew Luck Bill Polian must be making payoffs to other teams to tank games...31-21 loss to the Saints with that superstar AJ Feely at QB for St Louis The first QB since 1983 to have a rating as high as John Elway ....and suddenly the Colts14 year veteran QB Payton Manning needs season ending neck Surgery. the team floundering on so many levels and yet the Colts state the HC's job is secure....something stinks BTW, did anyone else catch that Standford 56-48 triple OT win against USC ? -

The Skins lost 5 starters in the last 2 weeks, no doubt they are reeling from injuries. O line injuries, their best WR, the starting RB and TE and all those injuries did have a big effect on the outcome of that game Buffalo is currently dealing with a bunch of injuries themselves...the thing is ....how good would the Bills be without Fred Jackson at RB, Chandler at TE, Johnson at WR plus a back up QB in the game....that is what the Skins are currently dealing with. However, this game showed that the Bill know how to game plan an opponent and can dominate hapless teams just like they did with the Chiefs. -
I agree If Gailey has one flaw, then this is it....the RB position. He didn't realize what he had in Jackson when he drafted Spiller or he probably would have never drafted him. Next, he is over utilizing Jackson IMHO, simply because he is the only big time play maker at RB on the team. 26 touches at RB, 3 touches at receiver. Fred Jackson probably loves he is getting all this work, but its a long 16 game season and it could takes its toll at the end. Plus, god forbid anything should happen to the man as there appears to be no quality depth behind him. Since Jackson is a brilliant 3rd down RB as well as a 1st and 2nd down RB... he never leaves the field. Look at the way the Patriots utilize a feature back along with a 3rd down back like Kevin Faulk all those years I've always noted that Jackson is like a Jaguar in that he is very elusive runner and breaks the first and sometimes second tackles. When the Bills had Marshawn he was like a mack truck, trying to plow his way thru the line. The Bills need to start grooming another player to spell Jackson during games. the only RB's this past week were Jackson at 26 carries, Brad Smith 4 carries, Fitzy for 3 carries. Jackson even got more receptions then Spiller at 3 vs 2.... but then Fred made 74 yards out of his 3 touches and Spiller made 9 yards out of his 2 receptions. There is no doubt that Jackson is a god at RB, and probably would also be a god as a full time WR. But the Bills seriously need to get another RB more involved in the game to save wear and tear on their superstar!

I know it's early but Next year's draft ...
thewildrabbit replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At this point I'd settle for a Daryl Tally type who can stop the run... I don't care what anybody says, the Bills lack a dominate pass rusher. They thought they had one in Merriman, but he ended up on IR again. The Bills have been able to get some pressure on opposing QB"s this year, just not enough to make them hurry throws or get sacks. 30th against the run, 30th against the pass but #1 in turnover ratio makes the defense bad yardage wise, but very opportunistic in taking the ball away. Both the Cincy and Giants game showed what happens when the Bills lose the turnover battle. Plus no team can depend on getting turnovers every game. If you look at the Blitzburgh Steelers 3-4 style of defense and the way they work, is that they stop the run on first and second down and then force the offense into 3rd and long. Then in 3rd and long they come at you from any angle with any one of their star LB's, or star safeties. Can you say Troy! The Bills can't play that style of defense because they simply can't stop the run, not on 1st down, not on 2nd down, not on any down. But It doesn't really matter because they can't stop the pass either. I wouldn't say the defense is horrendous simply because of all those turnovers they have gotten, but at this point they are a very bad defense by giving up so many yards both on the ground and in the air. What bothers me is the past two years the Bills were in the top 5 in passing yards allowed, and now they are currently 30th. Dunno whats happened to all those CB's the Bills drafted the last 5 years, but something isn't right....coaching...scheme...something! -
If you watched Biscuit and Derrick Thomas play together at Alabama you would make that trade in a heartbeat. I was so upset he was drafted #1 by the Colts, and then ecstatic when Polian made that trade. So many Bills fans have stated they think it was a crap trade for the Bills, nobody is worth 2 #1's...right? But then look who the Bills drafted #1 in 1990 CB James E Williams who only played 4 years with the Bills. If I recall correctly he had a depth perception problem with his vision. So drafting at the end of the first round doesn't always guarantee a great player
-
To me It is disconcerting that the Bills didn't go after an OT instead of Spiller, and even this year they should have drafted another OT earlier then a 4th. Lets face it, most of us posters here knew that makeshift line wouldn't last long, and we knew the team needed more depth and quality. Another thing that is very disconcerting is that the Bills spent most of the picks from the last two drafts on the defense, and it is still playing like a sieve. Still can't stop the run, plus the Bills had the pass defense in the top 5 the previous 2 years and now its 30th, so it got worse! I look at Chan Gaily and what he has been able to do with a bunch of back ups and castoffs on that offense! Meanwhile the team is spending almost entire drafts on the defense and they get worse...this sorta tells me that the offensive coaches know what they are doing because of Gailey. But, wasn't Wannstache brought in to help Edwards with the defense? I suppose a new LB coach can't make a silk purse... but that is the same secondary coach that was with the Bills under Jauron.... weird! Something (the3-4) is not right or someone is not doing a good enough job as 30th and 30th is no where near good enough, not with all the DB's this team has drafted over the last 5 years! Anyway, I have so much more faith in Nix and his ability to judge talent after watching what Cam Newton has done so far this year. I believe in Nix, he stood strong before the season started and boldly stated he know what he was doing and it will work out, he was right! Lets not forget that Nix is the one that found all these players off the waiver wire that are doing pretty good. If the Bills can just somehow fix that defense...
-
FIRST! If you are gonna gush about how good a coach Chan Gailey is, with his spread offense and his unreal ability to get maximum play from a bunch of nobody receivers and O linemen. Then you had better thank Buddy Nix for hiring Gailey! SECOND! The biggest concern of most fans the last ten years has been the horrible drafts and acquisitions made in free agency by the team over the last decade. About 90% of the posters here blamed Tom Modrak for all those failed drafts as he was the only common denominator that has been with the team over the last ten years Guess who finally was able to fire the guy, you guessed it, Buddy Nix. Guys this move was huge! I give Nix 3 years to prove himself just on the fact he dumped that bum Now considering that Nix came into the org not knowing who as good at their job and who wasn't, I'm giving the man his first year in Buffalo to determine just that. Think about it, a GM is supposed to read the evaluations given to him by his scouts, so he reads a file and accepts the scouts word on such and such a player. Not realizing that he needed to put his scouts hat back on and watch tape and workouts for himself, instead of trusting people like Modrak, who was inept at his job. If you know me, then you know I've been very very skeptical about both Nix and Gailey. I've since changed my mind, not just because the team is 4-2. But because even in the losses (which were both by field goals) the HC and his staff has this band of cast offs and nobody's believing in themselves and playing pretty darn good. Look at this team...a Back up QB, a back up RB, back up receivers, back up linemen and a TE nobody else wanted all playing very well. As for Merriman, Nix took a chance on the guy and listened to the doctors who cleared him. Elite pass rushers are worth their weight in gold in this league, Merriman may eventually pan out, just not this year. The Bills are 4-5 guys away from becoming an elite team, lets hope Nix can find them in the next draft and free agency.

Beck has yet to win a game as starter.... So basically the Skins are starting the back up QB, the back up RB, the back up TE, the back up WR, back up LT and G....they have lost 5 starters in the last 2 games It could be a good week for that Bills defense to improve in yardage allowed. The Bills coming off a bye week and getting extra time to prepare, still no Bell, no Hairston, no Merriman, no Kyle Williams Kelsay should be back tho I wonder if the Bills will give a look at WR Bernard Berrian the Vikes just dumped
-
First, the owner screwed up at the start of the year by trying to hire Jim Harbaugh right under Tony Sparano's nose, and when Harbaugh chose the 49'ers it made Tony a lame duck HC. What player is going to think the HC has any power under those circumstances. Second, then HC / GM makes a bid for Denver QB Kyle Orten right under the starting QB's Chad Henne's nose, then when that trade falls thru the Dolphins go forward with Henne. Now you would think if they don't think he is good enough to be the starter they should have gone after another QB to be the starter. Then they ditch Ronnie Brown and Rickey Williams for Reggie Bush and a rookie RB. This team is totally dysfunctional and both the GM and HC will be fired very shortly. The owner is looking around the league right now for replacements. I think DC Mike Nolan will be the interim HC after TS is fired, not sure about the GM. I think Nolan will do much better then TS, as he was a HC in SF. I have no idea why teams want to promote line coaches to head coaches, not only do they not know how to run the defense, they also don't know how to run the offense. So how can they possibly know what to look for in QB's or figure out what the problems are on offense? PS savor and relish this season of Dolphin failure, because if they get Andrew Luck and Bill Cowher it won't be this good ever again

Jets game and smack talk
thewildrabbit replied to Jimmy Spagnola's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sadly, the guy has a point .... the Buffalo defensive coaching staff under Jauron, Fewell and then Edwards couldn't motivate the kid to play better. ...perhaps it took getting cut 2x to finally light a fire. Buffalo has drafted mostly for defense the last two years, and even drafted mostly for defense under Jauron...all those DB's . currently ranked 31st in total defense, 30th in rushing defense, 30th in passing defense. So the team went from #2 in pass defensive in 09 , 30th in rush defense ..to #3 in pass defense, 32nd in rush defense in 2010...to a total sieve!!! -
The Carson Palmer Debacle Begins
thewildrabbit replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sat out his first year in 03 started his second year in 04 13 GS In 05 took the Bengals to an 11-5 record where he severely injured his knee on his first play in their playoff game while throwing a 66 yard pass. He made the pro bowl 16 GS In 06 he made the pro bowl 16 GS in 07 Palmer finished the season with 376 completions for 4,131 yards and 26 touchdowns, with 20 interceptions. His 20 interceptions were a career high, but his 376 completions and 4,131 passing yards set new Bengals franchise records. 16 GS in 08 from the start of the season Palmer was injured and the cause was Palmer's sore elbow, it was diagnosed as a partially torn ligament and tendon. He was shelved for the remainder of the season. Palmer elected not to undergo Tommy John surgery to repair the damage; instead, he chose to rest the elbow to allow it to heal 4 GS His arm was what I was referring to, specifically his elbow....not his knee. Like I stated eariler, Palmer took almost a 5 million a year pay cut to get out of Cincy...and there was a reason. There was a reason Chad Ochocinco (Johnson) wanted out of Cincy for the last 5 years NFN, but look how Fitz performed on that crappy Cincy team when Palmer was injured. -
The Carson Palmer Debacle Begins
thewildrabbit replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let me point out something here, remember when Payton Manning was injured and missed the entire pre season awhile back? It took him about 5 games before he was able to get his timing back with his receiver corps and start tearing it up again. I suspect it will take about that same amount of time before Palmer will truly feel comfortable out there. Personally I don't blame Palmer for wanting out of criminal central, Palmer is a classy guy and that Bengal org is about the worst in the NFL when it comes to low character players. How many times can you look the other way before it starts to get to you. Also, Palmer took a big pay cut to play for the Raiders. That Raider team can be scary good with that set of ultra fast receivers, and DMF running the ball. If Palmer can get back to his pre injury form that Raider team could be competing for a playoff spot for sure. -
George Edwards' Job Security (Chris Brown)
thewildrabbit replied to Sniper's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First of all, even the Blitzburg Steelers who are notoriously good at stopping the run on first, and second down, then forcing the opponent into a passing mode where they can blitz from any angle...were even having a difficult time stopping the run at the start of the season. So their entire philosophy of stopping the run on first and second down, then blitzing on third and long went out the window. That also made for very few turnovers for them as it makes them last in the NFL in turnover ratio, where they are usually in the top 10 every year. Although now the Steelers are ranked # one overall in total defense, #1 against the pass, and 15th against the run, so they have made up some ground. Even Green Bay is having difficulty this year without Cullen Jenkins, so I have to wonder is it injuries, players playing poorly or just teams finally catching up on how to defeat that 3-4 scheme? Anyway, I look at this Bills team and player personnel and have to think, why are they attempting a 3-4 defense when they clearly don't have the LB's for it... they simply don't have that dominate pass rushing LB. This was supposed to be Shawne Merriman's job and he had been basically invisible, still injured? The top 14-16 teams the best at stopping the run all play a 4-3 and I would like to see KW & MD in the middle wreaking havoc and putting pressure up the middle consistently, that is when KW is healthy again This might be the biggest reason the Bills are not showing improvement in yardage allowed as KW has been playing with a foot injury....still, one player shouldn't make or break any team. Being an old school run and stop the run type of guy, I'd rather see the Bills work on stopping the run with Kelsay at DE- KW & MD at DT- Dwan Edwards DE, Sheppard-Barnett- Moats at LB and let wannstache set it up and run it for George Edwards...show him how. Ok first of all that was Chris Brown who said that, ""he's not the same guy"" not Buddy Nix! Plus the Nix people are referring to is Buddy Nixon who has some -----website and asked Chris Brown a question and posted it on his site....not Buddy Nix the GM of the Buffalo Bills Chan Gailey must have faith in George Edwards and the 3-4 to keep running it, or perhaps he simply doesn't know defense like Jauron didn't know offense. A lot of season left to play and if the defense doesn't improve after everyone is healthy, then he should make a change at DC. -

thewildrabbit replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good to see the Bills are going to finally give Fitz a fair deal, also its a good thing he turned down the earlier offers ... This year Fred Jackson has shown he is one of the top 5 RB's in the NFL, he should be the next to get a pay raise.
