  1. Yea, tell that to Tim Tebow... Anyway, I think most fans want to see the bills run the ball more instead of passing over and over when Fitz isn't playing so well. Its like all Gailey knows is pass pass pass and only runs to set up the pass. Its almost like he didn't even recognize that Spiller was doing well against the Titans and just stopped even trying to run. all he has is passing on the brain and doesn't stop to think about just running his normal offense, even when they get behind a score or two. Defenses go to a secondary overload to shut down the passing game which weakens their run defense, so what does megamind do..he keeps on throwing and playing right into the strength of the defense....simply moronic in my view. He has done this in at least 6 games this year.
  2. Unless the guy turns into another Jamaal Charles or CJ2K that # 9 overall pick was a wasted pick on a "waterbug" type player when the team had many more pressing needs! Think about what Adrian Peterson @ #7 has already accomplished, or even Lynch who was a #12. Pass rusher, DE-OLB - O line, RT-LT- WR Go back and look at some the players the Bills passed on in order to draft Spiller. Players who could have started day one and helped this team immensely, instead of riding the pine for almost 2 years. Finally having ONE decent game doesn't justify the #9 overall. In his second year is not "still early in his career" as the average player only stays in the NFL 3 years. Call people boneheads all you want, this kid still has yet to prove he was worthy of that #9 overall. I can recall Spiller's first game, where he was named starter over a slightly a injured Lynch and Jackson. He stayed in the game for about 4 plays, until Chan Gailey saw that the kid couldn't block for protections, couldn't find a hole, couldn't run routes, and he was promptly benched!! Fred Jackson was sent in to replace him and Jackson had his hand in a cast. Trent Edwards threw him the ball and he caught it!
  3. If Edwards is "safe", then Chan Gailey sure as heck shouldn't be "safe"
  4. Some players have "IT", some players don't. I'm starting to think Fitz is out there just there doing his best, but is inclined to lose if things don't go his way. Shrugs his shoulders, and says oh well. Guys like Jim Kelly-Dan Marino -John Elway- and now Tim Tebow decide their own fate. When the game is on the line in the 4th QTR they play their best, and incite that feeling into their teammates. Of those three greats I think Kelly had the best offense around him, better line, better RB, better OC in Ted Marchibroda. Marino never did get a RB to help him, although the Dolphins tried to find one almost every year. Elway finally found his in Terrell Davis. Its looking like Miller would have had more impact on this Bills team then Darius does! But like Fitz,. Darius needs a team around him and can't do it all alone, no player can
  5. I just don't see "vastly" improved, this regime might be more exciting to watch because at times Fitz looks like a capable QB. What is the bottom line in the NFL...its WINNING! This HC doesn't know how to pull out wins. Chan Gailey did the exact same thing as OC while he was with the Chiefs, calls for throws throws throws all the while having an "exciting offense" with a QB that throws for a bunch of yards, that team went 2-14. This man has yet to beat the moron Dick Jauron's record of 9-7! Actually this man is kinda like Jauron in the respect that he knows only the passing offense. At times the running game starts to look good and he abandons it to keep throwing out of the shotgun...kinda like Turk Schonert used to do! Gailey has absolutely no freaking clue on how to build a defense, much the same way Jauron was clueless about the offense. The GB Packers had a ton of starters on IR last year and still won the SB, so yea injuries are no excuse. This Bills team lacks decent starters and has very little depth to begin with. When Gailey took over he hired 3 new trainers that were supposed to help with all the injuries this franchise endures year after year. Whatever they are doing, it clearly isn't working!
  6. I suppose you are forgetting the biggest injury that year, the one that eventually ruined Trent Edwards. Fitz is a decent QB, just not enough quality talent around him right now, and looking at the last two years of drafting and free agency...I have no faith this staff can find top talent
  7. Turner was handed a 14-2 team which boasted more pro bowlers then any other team in the NFL at that time. Turner took over a run first offense under Martyball and turned it into a pass first offense dependent on a top O line, once that line faltered the entire offense falters. It could also be that teams have figured out how to beat the Chargers offense as they are so devoted to Rivers throwing it. Ron Rivera took over that defense and he did as well as Phillips, Its why he was named Carolin's head coach. His was the #1 defense in the NFL last season, the Charger offense was also #1 in the NFL. the problem was the special teams were so horrendously bad they lost several games on ST's alone. A head coach has to get the entire team playing well, all 3 category's. offense-defense-special teams, and not just one area. Whatever you think, its always the head coaches fault when a team fails to win. The buck stops with him Marty's problem was that rookie kicker did him in by missing that field goal, yea the Chargers were embarrassed because they lost the game by 3 points. AJ Smith might be a great talent evaluator, but he sucks as a GM. He was responsible for dumping Drew Brees and then firing Marty, he also let Jackson and McNeil hold out last season. The fact is that when Marty told Smith he was hiring his son Brian to take over as OC, and his other son Kurt was to take over the defense, Smith then went to the owner and told him its either him or me. I don't think anyone in this forum hates Norv Turner, they just don't see him as a head coach... kinda like Wade Phillips
  8. I still haven't been able to get over the fact that AJ Smith fired Marty after a 14-2 season. I realize that he lost OC Cam Cameron to the Dolphins and Wade Phillips to the Cowboys, and that Marty wanted to hire his son Brian to run the offense. I can see why this might bother Smith, but he never even gave the guy a chance.Brian Schottheimer went to the NY Jets to be their OC and that team has been in the AFC Championship 2x years now. Lets not forget that AJ also dumped Drew Brees for Phillip Rivers because Brees was supposedly too short. Now the lord of no rings is sitting on a hot seat. NFN but I'll bet he gets another job asap as a GM somewhere else as he has an astute ability to find talent. I know if i'm a Charger fan I'd be upset about that teams state of affairs. AJ screwed up with both Brees and Marty S. In order to run Norv Turners offense this team would need to draft some top O line players, something that this franchise has been avoiding for decades.
  9. C'mon guys...with Spiller at RB? With that horrid sieve of a defense, being setup and called by someone who wasn't ready to be a DC. with truckload of starters on IR... Fitz is good, but he can't play every position PS ....Chris Johnson ran for 190 yards against the Buc's last week...what will he do against the bills?
  10. Now go back and look at all the crap teams the guy was a back up on Rams-Bengals-Bills Consider the injuries this years and last years Bills teams, to the WR corps, the O lines! Now consider in 13 games last year 3000 yards 23 TD's-15 INT's. This season 2,549 yards passing with 64.0 completion % Now try and consider what this team would look like with Trent Edwards still at QB, with Tyler Thigpin at QB, when both those 2 would need more then 3 seconds to find the open receiver. Trent Edwards had a quicker release then Fitz does, but what good does it do if he can't find the open receiver and hit him with the ball? If this HC & GM ever decide to build a proper O line, this Bills team could easily make the playoffs with Fitz at QB
  11. Yea, what he said... The baby came out... the doc held it in the air by its two feet in one hand, and then slapped it hard on the butt with the other hand...the baby started crying normally...then the baby slipped outta the doc's hand!!! It landed on its head on the floor and promptly stopped crying....then looked up at the doc with a peculiar look in its eye... a look stating...why the &%#$ did you drop me #$%-@$! I'm starting to think that the plan by these two is simply to try and stretch their employment for as long as they can while maintaining the owners endorsement. I find it difficult to comprehend some of the scheme decisions and player moves these two have made the last two years. As old and seasoned as these two men are they should not be making the mistakes you would expect to see from first time HC & GM.
  12. You clearly did read thru this entire thread... page 8. Nobody in this forum needs to sell it to you... I'll take an all pro DE from the NY Giants word for it tho. When Fitz is on his game he is a top ten QB and worthy of being a pro bowler. The Bills FO must think so also, look at what they paid him! ....or simply look at the pro bowl voting for this year
  13. shhhh, don't rile up the homers It was a brilliant move to trade Marshawn Lynch and Lee Evans both Buffalo Bills first rounders for 4th round picks... right?
  14. The D line, and they should have been in a 4-3 the entire season with Kelsay at DE and not OLB. MD and KW at DT to plug up that middle as teams can't double both
  15. This shows the stupidity of this team and defense, this is almost as bad as ex Bills OC Turk Schonert calling 5-7 step drop deep passing plays with a crap O line and Trent Edwards having a background in a WCO. At least Gailey is smart enough to configure his offensive play calling to suite his QB and offense....unlike the current DC Edwards Every fan posting in this forum since Aaron Schobel was injured back in 08 has been clamoring and complaining about the lack of Bills pass rush. So in 09 Jauron drafts Maybin, and the Bills pay him to ride the pines because they can't figure out how to utilize him...until they cut him this year. The Jets pick him up and have gotten 5 sacks outta him this season, 2 this past Sunday. The Bills managed to get zero sacks from him his two years as a Bill. Its not just Maybin either, Jabari Greer- Jim Leonhard- John McCargo- Leodis Mckelvin. Find a top DC who knows wth he is doing, Wade Phillips would have fit the bill perfectly last year but has a bad past history with the owner. If you can't find a top DC to run the 3-4, then find one to run the 4-3 and hire him. A good 4-3 defense can be just as good at stopping the run as a 3-4, just don't draft smaller-quicker penetrating D linemen like Jauron tried to do with his Tampax 2 defense. This franchise has drafted more for the defense over the last ten years and has almost nothing to show for it. There should be no question about the player talent, its all about the coaching, or lack of Find a pass rusher in this years draft and target him and draft him. If a top DE like Jared Allen becomes available in free agency, then target him and pay him! I would have np with spending the #1 pick on defense if they can get it right this time with an OLB or DE! Find a top O tackle with that #2 or #3 pick or both and build some quality depth on that line. The bills have needed to shore up that line for two years now. History has proven that building a great line will be the start of a great team.
  16. Let me retract that statement a tad, It is partially the playcalling as Gailey isn't a complete moron and calling 5-7 step drops like Schonert used to do. Unlike the DC he is calling plays that fit the strength of his offense
  17. Yea, I'm not calling for his head just yet! Its the personnel decisions by both Gailey and Nix that have been very very questionable over the last 2 years. They even knew what they needed to help but essentially didn't make the proper moves. But then, like I stated earlier Tom Modrak was still head scout Nix's first year here. So by my thinking that first year he was getting some disinformation from Modrak ...Cornell Green...Spiller. Troup. Anyway, the DC and the 3-4 both need to go in my view. Marcel Darius would be a wrecking ball in a good 4-3 with KW next to him. Kelsay on the end at DE where he should be. The thing about the 3-4 defense is there are only a handfull of DC's that are actually good at setting it up,finding the right players and calling it. Right now its in vogue again because the Steelers, Jets & Ravens run it so well. But what people don't realize is you need top play callers to scheme it and call it, but then even the great 3-4 play callers have their bad days/weeks Wade Phillips-Mike Nolan-Rex Ryan-Dom Capers-Dick Lebeau. Currently the Bills have better D linemen then LB's from what I see. If they had drafted Von Miller then the 3-4 things would be different. The Ravens run a hybrid 3-4 with Suggs on the line in a down stance and state he is an OLB so they don't have to pay him DE money The Buffalo Bills need to dedicate themselves to a 4-3, put Wanstache in charge to see if he can get things working better before the season is over and if not get a new DC in the off season. I just don't get why coaches try and make stuff work when they clearly don't have the proper players for it. Plus what does it tell you when this staff couldn't make Maybin work. He got 2 sacks on Fitz this Sunday and has 5 on the year so far with the Jets...
  18. Hey, we can all dream can't we? Lotto- Jennifer Aniston- Bills win SB.... It certainly is a possibility the Bills could go 10-6 ....but first the DC needs to remove his cranium from his rectum next, CJ Spiller needs to start playing up to his #9 overall selection, start playing with instinct instead of trying to think then, Buddy Nix needs to find a pass rusher off the waiver wire, kinda like the way the Jets did with Maybin... he had 2 sacks on Fitz Sunday and has 5 on the year
  19. BS, both Fred Jackson and Fitz have made gailey look like he knows what he is doing. Lets not forget that Lynch was the starter before they traded him away... that Spiller was named starter in his first game over Fred Jackson. (that lasted 3 plays until Chan saw that Spiller couldn't block, couldn't find a hole, couldn't run a route and was promptly benched!!) that Jackson then needed to enter the game with a cast on his hand to replace Spiller....Edwards threw him the ball, and he caught it! ....that Gailey spent his entire first preseason grooming Trent Edwards to be the starter. Chan Gailey didn't even know what he had in Fred Jackson, if he did he never would have wasted a #9 overall on CJ Spiller!! Chan Gailey didn't know how much better Ryan Fitzpatrick was then Trent Edwards and Brian Brohm or he would have never wasted OTA's and mini camps on those 2 clods!!
  20. Its not the play calling, its Fitz's ability to find the open receiver and get him the ball in 3 seconds or under. NY Giants Osi Umenyiora stated that "nobody can get to Fitzpatrick on set plays" "he gets the ball out in under 1.5 seconds"". The Giants changed their style of pass rushing when they played Buffalo, they stated they knew they probably wouldn't get many sacks so they just tried to get pressure and get their hands up in the passing lanes.
  21. Ryan Fitzpatrick is still hiding a ton of flaws in that line, his super quick decisions and release at times make that line look so much better then it really is. ESPN rates the Bills line at 2nd worst in the NFL in allowing pressure on the QB in 3 seconds, and that was taken before Wood was injured. That line still sucks and needs two tackles and a guard. That line could be so much better at run blocking, Spiller could use some holes as he can't seem to make his own like Freddy can. All I can remember reading about in this forum over the last 4 years is how this team needs a pass rusher, and yet no matter how hard they try they can't seem to get one. They drafted a pass rusher #1 and then cut him because they couldn't make it work, that same guy just got 2 sacks on Fitz this week. So far Maybin has 5 sacks on the season so far. What does this tell you about the current DC and his ability to get the most out of his players?
  22. Chandler is a great possession TE and catches just about everything thrown his way, which makes him a great asset. The Bills till could use a speedy TE that can catch as well. The Bills definitely need some pass rush, perhaps 2 players. DE & OLB. But they also need some O line help. I can't help but think how well the offense could have performed these last two years if this regime had drafted OT and O line instead of for the D line in their first draft . The Bills should have traded Spiller for the 4th and kept Lynch
  23. ............. Who do you replace him with, wannstache hasn't shown much as LB's coach, Perhaps the mangenius in the off season. Megamind and Mangenius....
  24. Stop making excuses for these men, other teams have been worse and were rebuilt quicker. Stop blaming it all on Jauron (The Dolphins 1-15 2007 to 11-5 2008 in ONE year!) (The 4-12 2007 Falcons to 11-5 in ONE year.) ( The 3-13 Saints 2005 to 10-6 in ONE year). (The 5-11 Ravens 2007 to 11-5 in 2008 in ONE year) (2005 GB packers 4-12 to 8-8 in ONE year, then 13-3 the SECOND year) ( 2009 KC Chiefs 2-14 to 4-12 in ONE year to 10-6 the SECOND year) all these teams got better under a new HC and staff. So in reality it doesn't take 3 years First let me state that currently the ONLY star players (save MD) on this team ....were brought in under Jaruon! All pro Kyle Williams- Eric Wood- Andy Levitre- Ryan Fitzpatrick- Stevie Johnson- Fred Jackson-George Wilson. As bumbling as Jauron may appear, it certainly looks like he has done a better job at finding talent then has Nix has so far. in 2 drafts & 2 free agency periods! How many starters has Nix found in 2 drafts that started day one and not because of injures? You complain about the state of the franchise that Jauron left it in, and yet the team still has the many stars that were brought in under Jauron. You can't have it both ways! Name one star player that Nix-Gailey have brought in so far besides MD ( the #3 overall pick), that has started and excelled at his position! Just one! This regime has had TWO YEARS, the draft, free agency and deadline for trades are long over for this season. TWO YEARS! Second, the reason the Dolphins got better so quickly was they drafted a top LT AND hired a top DC in Mike Nolan. Along with some experienced assistants. Gailey hired mostly college coaches for his assistants and a man who had never been a DC before, but a LB's coach for the Dolphins Buddy Nix KNEW this team needed more talent on that line this off season, and after the draft, its the sole reason he went after Tyson Clybo!! This team would have been better then 4-12 if they had added a LT & RT in their first draft, or at least someone in free agency better then Cornell Green, and scrub cast offs off the waiver wire It also would have been better if they had kept Geoff Hangarter, it would have been better if they had found better talent for that line the last 2 years at LT-RT-G. The 5th and 7th round picks drafted for the O line Nix drafted his first year have both been cut. I think they miss Lee Evans and Marshawn Lynch on offense right now and it is looking rather stupid to get 2 #4 picks for those two players when they could have made a playoff run THIS YEAR!. So yeah, like I stated in my earlier post, this next draft will be key as to see if this team ever becomes a competitive playoff team or not under Nix-Gailey. In 2010 under gailey the Bills were 3rd in the NFL in passing defense, but were the worst defense against the run in franchise history and last in the NFL. Now this year with the changes they made to the defense the Bills are 24th against the pass and 22nd against the run. So in effect the Bills got better in stopping the run but made the defensive secondary bad by doing so. Face it, the Bills defense sucks. They have no pass rush with only 15 sacks all year. If not for all the lucky takeaways the first several games this year this team might not have won 5 games. Bottom line is: Dick Jauron stepped in and took a 5-11 team and took them to 7-9, which made the team better by 2 wins, Chan Gailey took over a 6-10 team and made them worse at 4-12 by two more losses. The offense under gailey may look more exciting to watch in some games, but at the end of the year its about wins and losses. Right now as bad as Jauron and his inept staff with OC Turk Schonert & AVP were, they have done better then Gailey has so far.
  25. Gailey gets high praise just for the fact that his team doesn't cost them stupid penalties, especially considering all the young and new players on the team. Plus the fact that the team played reasonably well against the Jets this week with what, 10+ starters on IR?Those two factors alone show he is a better the average head coach. Now for the player talent, Nix and Gailey have had 2 years to restock the team in the draft and free agency. Many other teams have shown that it doesn't take more then two years to build a competitive team. In 5 years will fans still be bitching about Jauron - Levy screwing the team?Buddy Nix thought the team was close or he wouldn't have made the statement "we are not that far away" the team screwed themselves in their draft choices no question. Lets face facts, I could shiv two gits about best player available in the draft. Its all about what the team needs to go forward and function to its utmost ability. This team should have drafted a LT & RT with a top 3 pick two years ago. They win more then 4 games last year with a better line, and would have won more then 5 this year with a better line. I suppose Nix gets a reprieve for the 2010 draft because Tom Modrak was still head of scouting, so its like this is Buddy Nix's first year, and he will be going into his second draft and free agency. The team needs to be more involved in free agency in finding top talent instead of just picking up other teams cast offs. They showed they knew the O line needed help in the fact they went after Tyson Clybo, but were foolish not to secure more talent for that line. Dem Bell has been hurt every year he has been in Buffalo and I look at the guy as a decent back up because of that fact. The Bills screwed themselves when they cut Geoff Hangartner before the season. I give them both one year as they just seem intent on making stupid mistakes all over the place in regards to player personnel.
