Not true at all, go back and look at the year Brady was knocked out for the entire season. In 2008 Bill Belichick took a back up QB who hadn't played a snap of football in a real game since high school in Matt Cassel and that 08 team went 11-5 My take on the Patriots and the reason they haven't been back to the SB recently is that other teams kept stealing away coordinators and FO personnel. The Last OC who was taken away was Josh McDaniels after that 08 season. Belichick must be pissed that every time he trains someone to be good in their job another team walks in and hires him away. Romeo Crennel the Patriots SB DC- Charlie Weis the Patriots SB winning OC in 2004- Eric Mangini was DB coach in 04- Josh McDaniels was QB coach in 04 Scott Pioli (Patriots GM & director of player personnel) to KC- Thomas Dimitroff (Patriots Director of college scouting) to the Falcons is a huge reason why the Patriots don't draft as well as they used to. Just look at the talent that Dimitroff has brought into that Falcon team Don't forget that 07 season where the patriots went 16-0 in the regular season, and they lost the SB because the Giants got extremely lucky on one pass play

oh contraire... http://espn.go.com/b...anted-bills-gig http://buffalowins.c...-bills-job.html There are other articles i read in which Marty admitted he had a conversation with Buddy Nix before the Bills hired Gailey, it was RW who shot down the idea of Martyball !!! -

It wasn't Marty that got rid of Brees, it was AJ Smith the GM of the Chargers who deemed Brees as being too short. I recall reading an article that Brees praised Marty in, he stated that the best thing that ever happened to him was when Marty benched him for committing turnovers. It made him re-evaluate himself to be more carefull with his throws. -

NFN, But I think the reason Brian didn't want to interview is because he knew his dad was highly interested in the Buffalo Bills head coaching job, he publicly stated as much. The other factor might be that RW let it be known he didn't feel "comfortable" hiring Marty...so what would be your take from that... if you were his son? Anyway, Martyball would be a huge improvement over anything this team has seen since Wade Philips was HC. Marty has a penchant for taking bad teams and rebuilding them into winners -
Its not just all about the players, you also need to take the coaching staff and other things into consideration. Look at the history of the NFL and look at each team and why they won a SB. Some have always been in good schemes with good coaching staffs and just needed to be lucky with injuries and plays. However, the Packers had 14 players on IR last season and still won a SB. The main reason there is Aaron Rodgers, no question! But its also a confluence of everything coming together. Good front office providing top personnel. Great coaching staff on offense with a WCO scheme and great play calling. A great DC in Dom Capers in calling a top 3-4 scheme. Coaches-players-front office-schemes The Eagles might arguably have more talent on the field then any other team in the NFL, but if it doesn't all come together, they just won't win. This Bills team drafting a top rated QB doesn't ensure anything as so many other variables are still in question. Currently this Bills team is bad, coaches-players-front office-schemes. Drafting a top QB won't accomplish anything, except sell more tickets

Are you seriously trying to compare Wess Welker to Stevie Johnson ? Welker has 100 catches vs 63 for Johnson. The #1 receiver in the NFL vs the 24th. A lot of fans in this forum here don't want to see Johnson get paid top WR money when he clearly doesn't always play like one. Johnson drops a ton of balls, kinda like TO. Another misconception of yours is the Buffalo Bills O line. Because Fitz manages to find the open receiver and hit him in 3 seconds or under it negates most of the pass rush against him. That line was ranked earlier this year by ESPN when Eric Wood was healthy and it was rated as the second worst in the NFL in allowing pressure to the QB in less then 3 seconds. So its a good thing Fitz is able to get rid of the ball so quickly, right? Oh, but wait a min! That was during the first part of the season where teams hadn't figured out how to stop the Bills offense by jamming the WR's at the LoS. Now that teams have figured out Gaileys short, quick passing game the offense went into the toilet because Fitz can't throw the 5-7 step drop passes. Why you ask? Because that Bills O line can't give him time. The Buffalo Bills field one of the worst pass blocking lines in the NFL. Conversely the Patriots are dependent on a much more versatile offense where they utilize every throw in their playbook short, mid, deep. This season Brady's protection isn't quite as good because of injuries to the Pats O line. So when he takes a 7 step drop to throw the deep ball his protection isn't always there and Brady is under more duress. Brady #2 QB in the league vs Firtz #12 Get a grip on reality, the Bills are 5-8 and will probably finish this season at 5-11. They are a bad team on offense and even worse on defense. The Patriots however are currently 10-3 and might end up playing in the SB as they play Denver-Miami-Buffalo their last 3 games, and could finish 12-4 or better. "IF" that Patriot defense can stop trying to play man to man and stay in cover 2 they could conceivably get better by the time they hit the playoffs...provided their secondary gets healthy again. Like I said, every facet on offense they are better. Line-QB- receiver corps-coaching staff, scheme, and better RB now with Jackson on IR. The Patriots defensive secondary is even better, their problem is their DC might be even worse then George Edwards

They all want to make money no question, it is after all a business! OTOH so many owners over the years were forced to sell all or part of the team because they were losing money because of over spending while trying to make turn their team into a winner. Al Davis comes to mind first, also the last owner of the Dolphins. It is easy to over spend on free agents, players, coaches. The former owner of the Jacksonville Jags Wayne Weaver is really hating on the fact that he let Tim Tebow slip thru his fingers as he wanted to draft Tebow but former HC Jack Del Rio and the GM said he wouldn't work. Now Weaver looks at Denver and realizes his stadium would be filled every week with a winner like Tebow on the field. Weaver has been looking for an exit strategy for years, but would have kept the team if he could have made it more profitable. Teams need to listen to their fans. The Bronco's fans put up a billboard asking to start Tebow when the coaches and GM had him 3rd string QB. The Bills fans also put up a billboard asking RW to hire Bills Cowher.... -
Bills select Riley Reiff / OT Iowa

Quit dreaming about getting stability on the O line, never happen! If it did it would ruin this FO's projected spin cycle routine. They obtain a QB and let him play 3 years, after he is beaten down and no longer of any value to the Buffalo Bills or any other team they eject him and start over. Now, the reason they never drafted a QB with the first pick in years past is because it would cost too much just to see him get beaten up and gone in 3 years. Now that the Rookie pay scale is in place it is so much cheaper. You can expect this team to select a QB with this years first pick to bring the fans back. 5-11 does leave a very bitter taste. Now isn't it exciting that the Bills will be selecting a rookie QB this year, imagine all the hoopla and ticket sales...yippee for rich ole ralphie! -
Shhhh, you will rile up the homers intent on defending someone who can't beat the moron Dick Jauron's record of 7-9. Although I'll bet many think the Bills will finish 8-8 and not 5-11. You might also wake up Buddy Nix who is napping, or else he might look on the waiver wire and bring in some help like he did last season.

Holy cow, are you serious? In his 15 years as the Steelers, HC Bill Cowher 161-99-1 .623 winning %--12 out of his 15 seasons with the Steelers his team finished with a winning record! 10 out of 15 years in Pittsburgh his teams were in the playoffs I know this is hard to believe, but Cowher as the Steelers HC, his first playoff loss was in 1992 to Jim Kelly and the Buffalo Bills Playoffs....Playoffs...(in the voice of Jim Mora) this team hasn't even sniffed the playoffs in how long? Superbowl? When was the last time the Bills even sniffed a SB? Jeff Fisher, not as amazing as Cowher, but still. Fisher is this years top dog as a HC and will get whatever HC job he wants! He is the "big fish" bigger then Cowher or Gruden. 17 years as HC of the Titans, only 6 years did he get his team in the playoffs. But 11 of those 17 years his teams finished with a winning record. When was the last time the Buffalo Bills even fielded a team with a winning record? Chan Gailey fired as OC of the KC Chiefs in 2008 when his team went 2-14. His QB amassed a bunch of numbers throwing the ball in 14 losses, with only 2 wins...sound familiar? Bills HC 2010, 4-12 a .250 winning % 2011, currently 5-8 and most likely won't win another game this season...5-11. In 2010 Chan Gailey took a mediocre 6-10 team from jauron / Fewell and turned them into a bad team. Lets not forget that even the offensive moron Dick Jauron managed 3, 7-9 seasons before his termination with the Bills. with basically the same players. Jaurons problem were his schemes. The Tampa 2 defense and the Mike Martz offense with a WC QB. Right now Chan Gailey sucks in my view, his team lost their confidence and heart weeks ago. Buddy Nix did well last season to find some players off the waiver wire to fill in on the O line and other areas. But he still has failed this team. Why not bring in help again this year? His pass rusher in Merriman was a bust. He knew he needed another O tackle, its why he went after Tyson Clybo in free agency. Yet he went into the season without obtaining a tackle -

You don't need a fortune 500 Co to buy the luxury boxes, there are literally thousands of small to mid size companies in and around Buffalo, Rochester, Toronto that would support the team "IF" RW didn't play it so close to the vest! Winning is everything, Bill Polian tried to instil that in this owner during his tenure with the Buffalo Bills. Polian had to constantly fight with the 3 headed monster that runs this franchise, so much so that they eventually won out. The result is this owners dream, "his" team supports his family and all his hobbies, like horse breeding and horse racing. Unlike the majority of the other NFL owners, the bottom line is all this owner cares about, winning is secondary and always has been!! -
I disagree almost completely with that statement The pats have Tom Brady, a sure fire HoF QB, a WR that leads the league in receptions, 2 great TEs, one of which is going to set records in catches and TD's. a good running game, a way better O line. To top that off the Pats have a SB winning HC who is considered one of the best NFL head coaches ever! The defense is their weak spot with an average DC who really isn't very good as he keeps putting his players in the wrong schemes at times. Still they are getting turnovers and could come together as a unit and get better because they have some decent talent on that defense. As for the Bills vs the Redskins, the Bills got extremely lucky when they played as the Skins lost a bunch of O linemen, coupled with starting QB John Beck experiment that was an utter failure. Then considering the Redskins field the 11th ranked defense in the NFL is why the Patriots played them close The Patriots field a team that is by far so superior to the Buffalo Bills is every single facet, players, coaches, schemes. The Patriots are a super bowl caliber team with a passing defense not doing very well this season, and a rushing defense in the top 15. Right now their secondary is very banged up.

No, its always the coaches! Look at the history of the franchise when this team is a winner, top coaches produce winners -
Chan Gailey hired 3 new strength and conditioning coaches to overcome Dick Jauron's injury plagued teams, and things were supposed to improve...they haven't!. But, you are right, it isn't working! In fact it appears even worse this year! If I had any say in the matter I'd re-hire Rusty Jones away from the Bears. Curse Mike Mularkey for fining Rusty and bringing in his friend to be S&C coach.
-
Yea, the Packers were foolish to let Cullen Jenkins leave in free agency, he was a big reason why they were so good in their front four. He is doing great with Philly now. But perhaps that team has so many stars its tough to maintain and pay them all. Anyway, the current Bills defensive coaches are complete idiots for not implementing a 4-3 with Kelsay as DE where he should be, KW & MD as DT's would be basically un-blockable in the middle as how can opposing team double both.I just don't get how these coaches can even try and run a 3-4 with the players they have. I hope RW wakes up long enough at some point and compels Gailey to fire his defensive staff and hire someone like Mike Nolan if they insist on running a 3-4. On that note if he is fully awake and comprehensive I'd further hope instead of just the D, he fires the entire coaching staff and hires Jeff Fisher. A man who would bring blue collar football back to Buffalo. Along with a great running game and great defense, with a killer 4-3 !

What gets me is how easily this front office is able to manipulate the fans into buying season tickets every year. Spiller is "exciting" We(the FO)said we would pay 10 mill to a HC, but decided to hire the guy Cowher wanted as his OC instead. TO is "exciting" Most of the games this year sold out, the man made his profit for the season. Next year they will draft a QB, to keep the treadmill working another 3 years. Seriously, if this franchise honestly gave a crap about winning a SB they would have built the O line properly. But then considering how much they would need to pay top tackles, giving mediocre players extensions is even better. So when they do draft that QB, by the time his 3-4 years are up he is a beaten, washed up young man who they don't need to pay 20 mill a year. Rinse, repeat 10-12 QB's the last decade. 40-50 linemen the last decade. Kinda funny how Polian found players LT Wilford-C Hull-G Ritcher-QB Kelly that all played 10+ years

How will Bills finish last 3 games of the season?
thewildrabbit replied to TAinLack.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The players already have their bags packed... -
Are you worried Gailey will leave his head coaching job in Buffalo to run an offense in Maimi for Bill Cowher, should he be hired? As Rhett Butler once put it.... frankly, I just don't give a damn! Both Gailey and Nix have made many personnel errors, and although they both have done some good things... the best Gailey has done in Buffalo is 5 wins! Even the moron Dick Jauron managed 7 wins. This team went from mediocre under Jauron to really bad under Gailey. This team lost its heart after that Jet games in week 9 this year and hasn't won again since. This team could lose its owner-GM-HC-entire front office and entire scouting dept and it wouldn't bother me.

Boycotting the final three games
thewildrabbit replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I got that beat... With RW as owner the only thing this man is 100% committed to is selling out his stadium and making a profit. He has made some feeble attempts to make his team competitive over the years, but for the most part if the games are sold out, and he makes money he is clearly content. So, until this owner decides to spend money to hire a real HC, a real GM and replace himself as president with someone that actually has some football acumen, I refuse to attend games or buy merchandise....and have since 1999 -
Now that Modrak is finally gone perhaps the real problems still exist in the scouting department in terms of the scouts doing the analyzing of the players. Which ever scout was pushing for Troup is probably taking bribes from agents. Perhaps things have changed with Modrak gone, but the only guy starting from day one this year, and playing great is Marcel Darius. Still kinda early to pronounce either way if this team is going to start drafting quality players that are game changers

Keeping blaming everyone else Bills fans
thewildrabbit replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok first we need to is to convince RW to fire himself as president, then have him hire the GM of the Steelers Kevin Colbert as president to replace him. Then cut the phone lines between Detroit and the Bills FO and allow Colbert to setup the team the way he wants. -
4th round pick for Evans looks like a steal
thewildrabbit replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea well wanna hear a recap? The Ravens were already up 21-7 in the first half before they got most of those turnovers in the second half that turned the game into a rout. I can recall reading many posts in this forum by many fans stating they thought it was a bad trade for Buffalo and a good trade for Baltimore just after that game. Yea, Evans has been injured most of this season. But, lets wait untill we see what unfolds over the rest of the season. From reports I'm reading the Ravens are working him more into their 3 WR set as the 3rd receiver since he has been back from his injury. -

thewildrabbit replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just wait until the playoffs, if Evans is healthy he will make an impact and certainly be worth that 4th round pick. JMO I recall that first game against the Steelers where Evans was nothing more then a decoy to allow the other receivers to make plays. The Steelers rolled their coverage at Evans and the result was a 35-7 loss for Pittsburgh. That game now looms large as both teams vie for a playoff spot, home field and both are 10-3!
