Ryan Fitzpatrick is "Regressing to the Mean"
thewildrabbit replied to FrankReichComeback's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't forget that Harbaugh went in with a strike shortened off season and still got that team to 11-3. So all the BB apologists crying about the short off season don't have a leg The pansy ass spread still works, only the morons at OBD don't belive in building an O line properly to make it work. I can only hope these fools draft a QB first this year and they finally see that a sub par line just will never get it done. Run and stop the run has never, ever stopped working in the NFL as so many team still make the playoffs every year with that formula. Its just that for whatever reason the teams that have won the SB recently all have superstar "elite" QB's. So teams only see that QB and think they gotta have one to win or they can't win. -
Yea but the same can be said about Jabari Greer- Jim Leonhard- Donte Whitner- Poz-Maybin all playing for top defenses. So OP might just have a valid point about how crappy Bills coaches have been. Look at Marshawn Lynch 1000 yards rushing and 11 TD's, good thing the bills got a 4th rounder for the 8th ranked RB in the league

Luck may turn out to be a great NFL player, he looks like dufas tho Hope he turns out to be another Ryan Leaf for the Colts

An Optimist's View of the Bills Collapse
thewildrabbit replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You just proved what a good HC can do with a team over a bad HC, plus I was countering the OP's claim about the short off season! It still doesn't change the fact that this bills team sucks, its coaches suck more then anything. bad play calls, bad game plans, bad decisions. You don't think the Seahawks are loving it that they got an ex- #1 pick who has 1000 + yards rushing ***and 11 TD, the #8 RB in the league for a lousy 4th rounder? Stupid decision! The man reason why Lee Evans didn't have great stats the last few years is because Fitz hasn't been able to get him the ball very often, the Bills have had no deep passing game simply because the QB doesn't have the time in the pocket to throw 5-7 step drop back passes. So the morons that run this team decided to get rid of Evans (a #1 pick for a 4th) and offer no adequate replacement, so now the short passing game won't work because the team has no viable deep threat to stop opposing defenses from jamming the LoS. It bothers me that most fans keep pointing at Fitz as the problem, when they don't realize it would be even worse without him or a rookie in there. The problem is this coaching staff, on both sides of the ball....well the real problem is the owner, but he refuses to sell or step down as pres. -
............................ Buddy Nix....err, the 3 headed monster won't allow a top FA.... so yea, expect cuts from other teams to be signed. P.S. Do the Bills currently have anymore #1 draft picks they can dump to save a buck?

Yea well, tell that to Dick Jauron who had 3 years of 7-9 along with loads of injuries every year Tell that to the Packers who had 19 players on IR last year and still won the SB Tell that short off season story to the SF 49ers who just hired a new HC with a new staff and is 11-3, top 5 defense, and they are doing it with a recycled scrub QB that was labeled a wasted #1 draft pick. -
Ryan Fitzpatrick is "Regressing to the Mean"

Let me take a post I made from another thread and interject it here.... The point was RW is stating the team needs runners and WR's and yet he dumped the ones he had, who just happen to be first round draft picks and are STILL top talent. You don't think the Seahawks are loving it that they got an ex- #1 pick who has 1000 + yards rushing ***and 11 TD, the #8 RB in the league for a lousy 4th rounder? The man reason why Lee Evans didn't have great stats the last few years is because Fitz hasn't been able to get him the ball very often, the Bills have had no deep passing game simply because the QB doesn't have the time in the pocket to throw 5-7 step drop back passes. So the morons that run this team decided to get rid of Evans (a #1 pick for a 4th) and offer no adequate replacement, so now the short passing game won't work because the team has no viable deep threat to stop opposing defenses from jamming the LoS. But keep blaming the QB who has the guts to step out on that field knowing he has almost no chance of winning a game... unbelievable bad defense.... no running game because the HC doesn't want to hurt his frail RB...no deep threat, so the underneath stuff doesn't work. -

Did you miss the part, refuses to hire top coaches to get the best out of its players so players like Maybin are NOT completely wasted in Buffalo. All 5 of those players were either #1 or a #2 draft pick that are now doing great with their "new" team, (save Evans who was injured most of the year) Doesn't it bother you that an owner states the team "has no talent" and yet the team keeps jettisoning its top draft picks and talent
-
"We've got to get receivers. If he hasn't gotten anybody to throw to, he's not going to win many games," Wilson said. "We think he's a good quarterback, and we're going to stick with him and get him some better players, get him some runners, some tight ends that don't get injured and some wide receivers and we'll be OK." I don't suppose that "Marshawn Lynch" who is doing great with the Seahawks ( #8 RB overall, 1000+ yards 11TD's) or Lee Evans, (who will get his chance to shine now with Bolden injured) should be considered RB's or WR's. two former #1 picks traded for a pair of 4ths. Just think, whatever WR-RB-TE they draft # 1 this year will be on the trading block in 5 years. #1 pick Donte Whitner gone, and now playing for a top five D in SF ! Poz gone, and now playing for a top 5 D in Jacksonville. #1 pick Maybin gone and now playing on a top #7 D, doing well with the hated Jets. WTH good is it to have patience when this club keeps jettisoning its top picks and talent ?? refuses to hire top coaches to get the best out of its players so players like Maybin are NOT completely wasted in Buffalo. So tell me, wtf good is having patience with a team in which everyone in the organization has no effing clue how to do their job!! Save the yes men who are responsible for ticket sales, as they will make up any rumor they can to fill the stadium WR's RB's TE's, and no talk of better protection for a man who has difficulty taking 3 step drop backs because he has no time to throw.... For the love of God it would be great at some point for Fitz to be able to take 5-7 step drops like the most other teams in the NFL, but I suppose that won't happen in this owners (Ralph Wilson's) lifetime
-
You are wasting the typing trying to convince Bills fans its not ALL the QB's fault. I think everyone but a few recall what the and O line looked like last season once Wood went on IR. Its bad enough that he could only throw 3 step drops when Wood was healthy, with Wood gone its like a jailbreak. Fitz would be a better QB if he had better talent around him, and a HC that would set up a decent game plan. Its like Gailey thinks he has Joe M behind center, pass pass pass. He needs to run the ball to setup the pass, use play action once the run is working, and use the TE more often as the primary receiver.

Barkley's decision comes this afternoon...
thewildrabbit replied to Bronc24's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Think about it from his stand point, would you want to play for Ebeneezer in the frozen tundra of upstate NY, or would you rather play in a nice sunny So Cal area with nice cute So Cal babes? It would be enough to make me want to finish my education rather then being drafted by the QB concussion capital of the world. Just look back at the decade of 10+ QBs on this franchise, along with the 40+ O linemen. This ball club had better draft RG3 because they need someone who is great at Throwing AND running! -
If I'm not mistaken Thomas was 80-85% of that late 80- early 90 Buffalo Bills offense, and in most years the bills ran the ball more often then they threw it. Comparatively, Dan Marino called and he wishes he had Thurman Thomas on his Dolphin teams all those years
-
It will be interesting to see if anything happens I've given up on trying to convince the scardy cats that a better HC would produce better results In any event it looks like Nix-Whaley might finally have this franchise headed in the right direction with proper talent evaluation

Who Are Your Top 5 Candidates For Head Coach
thewildrabbit replied to Hater's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills are currently 5-9 right? 14 games right? Fred Jackson played 10 games this year right? Eric Wood Played 9 games right? Then how come only 5 wins? You want to blame all the losses on the injuries, ok, but then Dick Jaurons teams were also riddled with injuries and he still managed 7 wins, 3 years in a row....with Trent Edwards and JP Losman at QB no less I think you could give this HC 10 years and he will never make the playoffs in the AFC East, not with his poor decisions on player personnel, game plans, play calls, assistants OC & DC -

First off, do the Bills even win those 5 games if the defense didn't give them all those turnovers in the beginning of the year? 3 turnovers by the Chiefs-2 turnovers by the Raiders 4 INT's on Brady, and the Pats still almost won- 5 turnovers by the Eagles-2 turnovers by the Redskins. The bad defense stops getting turnovers and we all see them for what they are, a bad defense. The offense has the short passing game shut down and we all see them for what they are, a bad offense. What don't you get in the fact that opposing teams have figured out how to defeat Chan Gaileys offense? 7 straight loses, Jauron had almost the same players and just as many injuries and still won 7 games. I don't dislike Chan Gailey as a person, he just stinks as a HC. He chose the wrong OC & DC, he chose a RB with his first pick, instead on an O lineman or OLB -
He lost me at ""A great offensive mind, no doubt"" I'm still trying my best to figure out where these guys get this stuff from. If the Bills horrid defense doesn't get all those turnovers at the start of the year, how many games do the Bills win? 2-14 as OC in KC--- 9-21 as HC of the Bills---in his 6 years at GT. he never defeated Tech's biggest rival, the UoG, never won the ACC, never went to a BCS bowl, never won more than 9 games, and never finished in the top 25. Chan Gailey "might" be an excellent HC "IF" he had hired the proper assistants OC &DC. He didn't! Although, I wouldn't mind giving the man another year "IF" he hires a new OC & DC and just manages the game on Sundays. Leaves the playcalling to an assistant.

Who Are Your Top 5 Candidates For Head Coach
thewildrabbit replied to Hater's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On the contrary!! No, he can't.... he still had Fred Jackson and Eric Wood when the losing started. The Bills lost to Cincy IN WEEK 4, and the Bengal defense showed the rest of the NFL defenses how to exploit and shut down Buffalo's offense. The offense has gone into the toilet the last 7 games and Gailey simply hasn't found a way to climb out of it. What really bothers me is when the running game is working, he just stops using it. Hellbent on throwing because the team is down by 7 pts. Swept this year by the Jets and Dolphins, and the final nail in the coffin should come against New England sorry 5-11 isn't good enough....not when the known moron Dick jauron did better with just as many injuries. -
Ahhh, so you are blaming Tom Donahoe AND Marv Levy / Dick Jauron for Chan Gaileys 9-21 record? Never mind the fact that a complete buffoon like Dick Jauron managed 7-9, 3 years in a row with basically the same personnel. Never mind the fact that Nix-Gailey has had two years to bring in the players needed,. Never mind the fact that Gailey chose a "waterbug" RB over an O lineman or OLB but OK, keep defending Gailey. After all, Gailey was handed a mediocre team and turned them into a really bad team in only 2 years...speaking of stupid! Sok, I'll just chalk you up as one of CodeMoneky's people

Marty S, he actually is one of the very few who wanted the Buffalo Bills HCing job....badly, according to ESPN Plus, Marty S is also noted for taking bad teams (like Buffalo) and turning them into winners in a short time. Or if you prefer...A proven NFL offensive mind Joe Philbin currently OC of the GB Packers------- ""In his four seasons at the offensive helm, Philbin has directed both a productive and sound unit. The team's 1,703 points from 2007-10 were the most in franchise history over a four-year period, while the 83 turnovers were the fewest in a four-year span. The Packers' 83 giveaways since '07 rank No. 1 in the NFC and No. 2 in the NFL behind only New England. League-wide, the offense has ranked in the top 10 in total yards and total points each year, one of only two teams in the league (New England) to accomplish that feat during that period. Green Bay's point total is fourth in the league over that span, trailing only New England (1,944), San Diego (1,746) and New Orleans (1,736)."" -

Clearly you missed Edwards time at Kansas City I highly doubt he will ever be considered for a head coaching position again after that debacle...Mrs Edwards Afterall he went 15-33 in his 3 years. Plus with the Jets he NEVER won a playoff game! -
Prediction: Fired Coaches at Season's End
thewildrabbit replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
JMO I don't see how a HC can be (SAFE) after losing 9 straight. The losing started long before FJ & EW went on IR. If Nix retires or resigns and Whaley steps in like many think will happen, I don't see him keeping Gailey, unless of course directed by the owner to do so. 9-23 after two years would bury most coaches
