TEBOW!!! is a Jet! (finally)
thewildrabbit replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When asked about plan B, a back up QB and keeping Tim Tebow on the roster John Elway boldly stated there is no plan B, only plan A. Am I nuts, or does this seem idiotic to anyone else? The kid just took your team to the play offs with an unorthodox throwing style, sparked the team from a 1-4 record to a 7-4 record as QB and ya boot him? I just don't get it! Kyle Orton was a very good pocket passer and made Tebow look horrid in pre season! ya know, kinda like Trent Edwards used to look so good until the bullets started flying. But when it came to crunch time, Tebow was a winner and sparked a bunch of nobody's to play great. Isn't this the exact same presence that John Elway had himself in his youth? There is no question that Elway was the proverbial perfect pocket passer from the time he was drafted until his 3 SB losses. Elway proved that no matter how great the QB is, he can't do it alone! No matter how many comebacks and games Elway won that SB win eluded him. It wasn't until Denver built a dominate running running attack with Terrell Davis that he won a SB. 1997 stats, 513 attempts passing, 520 attempts rushing. 1998 stats 491 attempts passing, 525 attempts rushing. Even Jim kelly in his heyday, it was Thurman Thomas who carried the load of that Bills team. Most years the Bills ran more then they threw it despite the Bills being know for a great aerial attack, and the K gun, and the no huddle. It was Thurman Thomas that was 80% of that great Bills offense. The "greatest show on turf" and the Rams wouldn't have worked at all without Marshall Faulk. Why not have a plan B? Buddy Nix has a plan B, he obtained Super Mario and then went out and got another DE and pass rusher in Mark Anderson!!! Holy cow, what D line the Bills will have in 2012. No question that the Bills will terrorize opposing QB's this year Stating that, I still wonder if this year the Bills will be able to stop the run. The entire time Jauron was HC the Bills were one of the worst teams in the NFL at run stopping, thanks to the infamous Tampon 2. The Bills ran a more conventional 3-4 the last few years and were even worse at stopping the run. In fact after the switch to the 3-4 in 2010 they set a franchise record for worst in the history of the franchise at stopping the run. They weren't much better in 2011, 28th. Two areas that Nix has used band-aids on are the LB core and O line. Lets hope they draft LB's to stop the run and some quality OT's to give Fitz more time in the pocket. I like Fitz a bunch! But do the Bills have a plan B at QB? Gailey needs a QB to groom as the eventual replacement for Fitz. I don't see that in Thigpin or Brad Smith. Here is hoping that Nix turns his eye on the offense now, particularly the line. Man, if the Bills had an O line as good as the new Bills D Line. Fitz could get an easy chair, smoke a pipe and read a book while waiting for his receivers to beak open P.S. have it your way crybaby -

For a 4th round pick they got a guy then can develop long term at QB, a guy who is a winner and will run that wildcat right down the Bills throats FOR A FOURTH! I just don't get that the entire NFL watched as this kid sparked his team from a 1-4 record and into the playoffs last year, and yet no team wanted him this year. -

WTH are the Dolphins thinking?
thewildrabbit replied to Bud Adams's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly !! For me, the Dolphins represent an entire decade of losing. The Bills never once beat Miami the entire decade of the 70's. Even Jim Kelly & Co keeping Marino from the SB didn't quell my disdain. Lets not forget they are the ONLY undefeated team ever in the history of the NFL, and all those 70's players crack open champagne when the last team falls every year. Take a guess which team came closest to beating the 72 Dolphins that year -

yea, that took a miracle. I don't know what Nix could have possibly said to Ralph Wilson to change his outlook on spending big money on free agents. I gotta wonder what it would have taken to trade for Top DE in his prime like Super Mario, 2#1's? This move is such a franchise changer. -

Wow, it just gets better and better for the Dolphins...NFL network is now making fun of them It seems the Dolphins are having problems getting fans into seats and even drawing interest in games. So, their big QB acquisition so far is they sign QB David Garrard. Ha, I was worried the Dolphins would go after Tim Tebow but it appears I forgot just how much of a moron Phins GM Jeff Ireland is. He doesn't want Tebow ?? http://profootballta...d-in-tim-tebow/ The dolphin fans must be going out of their minds at this, its just too funny. The one human on the face of the earth that the entire state of Florida cherishes and loves, and would all relish a chance at seeing their beloved baby Jesus play for them, and Ireland doesn't want him. Jeff Ireland is such a moron that calling him a moron is insulting the word moron itself. Hope the Dolphins give him a 10 year extension. -

Seriously? I prove you wrong and your response is to tell me to use a different year? Are you really that effed in the head that you call me a a dbag because I point out the truth to you, that Nix didn't blow up anything! I just proved to you that your statement was complete crap and all your response was to name call! Your quote, That first year in 2010 the Nix / Gailey regime changed only 6 players and they got worse! The core starters on this team are all still from the Jauron era, deal with it! To this point Jauron has fielded better teams then Nix / Gailey, which is pretty sad considering. I can almost see why the karma for this team has been so bad for so long when I read stuff like this from some Bills fans. Thank you for providing me with the insight into your limited mentality, I will refrain from entering into further conversations with you atlbillsfan -

The entire core of starters remained the same, they didn't blow up anything. What planet are you from? look at the starters from 2009 to 2010 and tell me what changed? Offense, Fitz was already the starter under Perry Fewell in 09. Eric Wood, Andy Levitre, Stevie Johnson, Marshawn Lynch, Fred Jackson. Demetrius Bell. Geoff Hangarter Lee Evans 8 of 11 starters TO was not resigned or it would have been 10 of 11. The Bills really never had a #2 WR last year after TO and Evans, unless you count Brad Smith who never made an impact Defense, Kyle Williams, Poz, Whitner , Jairus Byrd , George Wilson, Drayton Florance, Chris Kelsay, Leodis McKelvin , Marcus Stroud 9 of 11 starters still on the team in 2010 Poz and Whitner would still be starting but they chose to leave Buffalo Oh yea they really blew things up. They changed those great play makers, New on Offense 2010 , TE David Martain, FB Corey MCIntyre, ( RT Kirk Chambers retired) RT Mansfield Wrotto RT Cornell Green Oh yea those were great improvements on offense 3 changes FB-TE-RT Only the FB is still a starter, he had 4 attempts for 5 yards New on defense for 2010, changes DE Dwan Edwards- LB Akin Ayodele- LB Reggie Tobor and Dwan Edwards is the only guy still starting 2011, and he was only in for the 3-4 defense. Spencer Johnson was in for the 4-3 When will you guys wake up and realize Nix didn't blow up anything. They took almost the exact same starters and fell on their faces So tell me, what draft picks from the 2010 draft class started in 2010? 6 players changed and 4 of then sucked so badly they are no longer starting. Perhaps the reason they went 4-12. -

Opposing teams and defenses figured out Gaileys short, quick passing scheme by the Bengals game in week 4, and the passing offense started to decline at that point. Look at the game stats for each week, the passing offense stated going downhill long before Fred Jackson's or Eric Woods season ending injuries. It also didn't help the Bills only had one viable top WR on the team. I can tell you guys exactly what will happen this up coming season if Nix doesn't upgrade that O Line. Fitz will get thrown under the bus, and all the blame will fall on him. Then next year everyone will clamor for a QB. If Fitz gets benched or injured you guys will see what that line is really like which might finally get Nix to invest in some upgrades for that line.. The Bills still don't have a viable deep passing game like the Patriots, Saints, Chargers have because Fitz doesn't have the time in the pocket to throw deep. This is one of the areas that Nix used band-aids on. Bottom line is, because the Bills spent so much on super Mario ( which I am happy about ) that now they don't have enough cap space to pursue a top FA WR for the #2 spot, Nix has stated they will go with what they have on the team. This also means they won't pursue a top FA OT. Think about it, If Nix thought the line was fine last offeseasn then why did he try and sign Tyson Clabo away from Atlanta last year? -

This is about the one of most erroneous statement made by fans defending Nixly! I suppose you don't recall Buddy Nix in one of his first pressers stating before the 2010 season..."your going to think I'm crazy, but we are not that far away" . Then after the team went 0-8 he changed his tune to "its going to take some time"! Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey didn't inherit a mess, the same basic players that were on the team when Jauron went 7-9 were on the team when he took over. The only thing that really changed was all in inexperienced college coaches from Georgia Tech that Gailey knew and hired from his time coaching at GT. Look at the core starters from the 7-9 years. In fact Jauron managed 7-9 with both JP Losman & Trent Edwards at QB. -

I realize you guys just can't stop all the gushing about Nix because of the Mario signing, (btw,I love the signing) but Nix as the Buffalo Bills GM is only as good as his record shows....so far, 4-12 to 6-10. Some reality... NFN, the guy sounded like a hick his first year, at one of his first pressers he stated to a bunch of media types "he wasn't the smartest guy in the room". His first free agency period he stated boldly " I'm going to get some sleep", which resulted in a bad bunch of FA signings that year. Nix is characterized as being asleep and too old because he has made some really stupid statements in the past. For me, its been a tough two first years because it shouldn't take 3 years to find a pass rusher, 3 years to fix the O line, 3 years to stop the run. It still remains to be seen if the later two will even be addressed and fixed. At this point it also remains to be seen if Fitz can become a winning QB, all he has proven so far is he can't do it alone, with one WR. Upgrading that O line is imperative to allowing Fitz the time to throw deep, opposing teams have already shown they can shut down that short quick passing scheme. Gailey hasn't proven he can field a winning team with a scheme that will work for 16 games. All I can say is Nix is finally making things happen this year that should have happened his first year. Signing Mario Williams to a 100 million contract doesn't guarantee a winning season or even a playoff appearance, a pass rusher is only one fix. Although, signing super Mario is more then just a band-aid, like Nix has done in other areas of the team. This was a big fix to a big problem that has plagued the team since 09. I'll love the guy when I see a winning season, when I see that proverbial baby.... P.S. more reality, I look at the Miami Dolphins and see a mess of a team that just fired their HC after going 6-10, and yet that team with a nobody at QB swept the Bills last year. -
Why We're Heading In The Right Direction
thewildrabbit replied to HuSeYiN1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well foolio look at the date I made that post, up until that time this team had a history of not signing some of their top players or spending 100 million on one free agent. But then I suppose you knew back in Feb 13th that the Bills would FINALLY spend that much...huh. You live up to your name. The ONLY man on the planet that knew the Bills were gonna spend that much money was the Bills owner. I still ask the question, why did it take 3 years to get a pass rusher? Will the Bills finally upgrade the O line so Fitz can throw deep? Will they build a defense that can stop the run? Will they find a decent #2 WR? There were so many questions to be answered by Nix before this thread was started. I'm happy they fixed the pass rush and signed a bunch of players that needed to be signed. But, Nix still has work to do before we see that baby. Fans want to pounce on anyone who had doubts about this off season, because they all knew Nix would finally do something the right way this year -

Guys and gals, I'm really starting to feel it...
thewildrabbit replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That ONE thing, you know like in City slickers. The one thing isn't honesty for the Bills,Its staying healthy. Jauron had a boat load of injuries every year he was HC. Gailey came in and changed a bunch of S&C coaches and the Bills still have so many injuries every year. Is it bad training, not enough warmup, bad luck, bad equipment, not enough strength training, bad turf? I have no idea what the problem is, but this franchise needs to hire a S&C training specialist to figure it out. Perhaps they all need to follow "sweetness" routine...RB the toughest position in the NFL to play, and sweetness used to run over tacklers http://www.exerciser...tness-workouts/ Walter Payton's football pre-game warm-ups were energetic and definitely didn't follow the 'no bouncing' rule during stretching* that is often declared by fitness professionals. His hamstring stretches, quad stretches often had a bounce, not the prolonged, passive 20 to 30-second stretch you might have heard recommended by fitness experts. The 5-10, 200-pound running back missed one game his rookie year and then played 186 consecutive games from 1975 to 1986 — all with the Chicago Bears. -

Bwahahahahahaha.... Flynn signs with Seattle http://www.nfl.com/n...HP11_hot_topics Now if only the Brownies grab Tannehill This news of Flynn just makes my day, the hapless phins lose out again due to the HMIC To top off that news, Steelers safety Clark says 'no one' wants to play for Dolphins, http://www.nfl.com/n..._headline_stack PS. there is more. now we should hope Peyton Manning chooses Tennessee otherwise Tebow could end up in Miami. -
WE, didn't do anything! It was Gailey's choice to keep playing Fitz, and keep him throwing game after game knowing he had an injured QB under center. To me, it makes no sense having Tyler Thigpin even on the roster for millions if you don't trust him as a back up.to take over should the starter need to sit! The same can be said about Brad Smith who was underutilized all year as the WC option, and instead became the #2 WR. I'm not gonna harp on the fact that the Bills should have been trying to run the ball more often after Gailey knew Fitz was injured. Even with Spiller & Smith at RB they could have taken considerable pressure off of Fitz by running more. What I don't get is Gailey is a supposed QB guru, why doesn't the team have a young QB on the roster like the Patriots have in Ryan Mallett so Gailey can be grooming him to become the franchise QB one day.
-
I don't agree with that last statement, you guys have no idea how much of a "control freak" Wilson really is. It was reported Wilson was on the phone for hours a day during the football season to both Jauron and now Gailey. I can only imagine he does the same thing with his people in the office at OBD. Like I stated eariler: The man could be 99% gone and he still be on the phone to OBD directing traffic. On another note, http://espn.go.com/n...t-buffalo-bills

WTH are the Dolphins thinking?
thewildrabbit replied to Bud Adams's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like I said, they are looking so much like the 2010 BB"s Then, Appearing on Sports Center Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Dolphins have "emerged as the favorites" to sign free agent QB Matt Flynn. "I think the Dolphins are the team to beat," added Schefter. The Dolphins are expected to be the highest bidder, though Yahoo's Jason Cole reports the team is currently "low-balling" Flynn, believing he'll give in just to reunite with coach Joe Philbin. It's hardly a shocking report considering the shenanigans of the Dolphins front office the past couple of years. http://www.rotoworld...4949/matt-flynn This GM is a complete and utter moron, how this owner was fooled into retaining him is beyond me. Ireland is taking it to Matt Millen levels I'm hoping Flynn gets pissed at Miami because of Ireland and signs with Seattle -
This signing took more then Buddy Nix, this approval came right from the boss. Plus is was completed under the direction of the 3 headed monster. This Org doesn't spend 100 million without Wilson giving the OK. The man could be 99% gone and he still be on the phone to OBD directing traffic. Its just too darn bad he didn't feel this same way in 2002, instead of 2012. Anyway its here now, and nobody can say Ralph is cheap any longer.

Why Stephen Hill WILL be the pick at number 10.
thewildrabbit replied to mob16151's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea Right now Buddy Nix is talking up the current WR's already on the team, perhaps he wants to see if Easly ever becomes a viable target for Fitz. Anyway, all that talk could be because all the FA money is used up on super Mario. I like Stephen Hill and have posted about him in other threads, his combine stats AND performance made everyone at the combine sit up and take notice. As for the OP reference to Calvin Johnson its not the first time I've heard it, I posted this statement weeks ago. Plus I posted this video before. Mayock states he is a late first round pick, and has great feet and hands L&G, Hill WILL be a 1st round pick, bank on it! http://www.nfl.com/v...-Calvin-Johnson http://www.nfl.com/v...th-Stephen-Hill PS in regards to BB, Ryan Tannehill is also moving up the mock draft charts also because there is no other viable QB option in the draft now that RG3 and Luck are spoken for. He could be an option for the the Bills at the #10 spot, "IF" the Browns or Dolphins don't take him. Somehow I think they go OT simply because they know Fitz can run Gailey's fast timed, quick throw offense. Tannehill might actually need 3-5 seconds to throw -
WTH are the Dolphins thinking?
thewildrabbit replied to Bud Adams's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peyton Manning informed the Dolphins he won't sign with them. so upon learning this they might step up the chase for Flynn. I'm hoping they don't get him because there is the chance he is the real deal and not a Matt Leinhart- Kevin Kolb. Philbin might not even be the real deal either, don't forget he didn't even call the offensive plays during the games Mike McCarthy did. This years Dolphins team is starting to look a lot like the 2010 Buffalo Bills the way they are switching around the defense 3-4 to 4-3, stating that 6-10 to 4-12 perhaps this year? The biggest reason Brandon Marshall never lived up to his potential in Miami was the lack of a top QB, watch what he does in Chicago now that he is back with Cutler. This should be another nail in Ireland's coffin for phins fans. Don't forget this franchise had a shot at hiring Jeff Fisher and blew it because Ireland didn't want to give up any say in player decisions. I'm loving that the Dolphins are looking more inept then usual, I'm hoping they keep Jeff Ireland forever Rex Ryan keeps forgetting to run the ball and just keeps running his mouth. The Jets keep dumping their good RB's for not so good RB's. The QB has no confidence anymore, and they just hired an OC who was an ex HC / O line coach that has never called offensive plays before. This year could be a good year for the Buffalo Bills, if they can only stay healthy! -
No thanks to Meacham, anybody notice that?
thewildrabbit replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Meachem was a rotational WR in that Saints offense, sorta like 3rd string. Although he was drafted in the 1st round he never played like he was worthy of that pick. I suppose SD can justify the money they gave him by stating he is now their #1 WR. He wouldn't have been #1 in Buffalo. I don't see this player worth what SD gave him
