  1. He read the news about Marrone leaving and fell to his knees saying, why lord why? I gave the man a beautiful win in NE and now he bails? Then he read that St Doug could be headed to the Jets, and did a little dance...perhaps thanks after all...
  2. First off the person stating Polian to Buffalo in a football adviser / president position also stated his son WON"T be coming with him. What planet are you from? In his 13 years at Indianapolis 10 of those years his teams were in the playoffs, along with 2 SB appearances and one win. Polian built a playoff team from an expansion team in three years. How long did it take the Texans to get to the playoffs, 10 years? The Browns were an expansion in 1999, and are still looking for a playoff year. Polian took a 2-14 Bills team and got them into the playoffs in three years, along with 4 SB appearances. Lastly Buddy Nix is the goober who had the philosophy that OG's are a dime a dozen, that any OT can slide inside to a OG position if needed, and that OG's should be drafted in the mid to late rounds. How did that work out this past year? That is probably the biggest reason he will finally be gone. The drafts have been better under Whaley then they ever were under Nix. 2010 was almost a complete wash, save Spiller who wasn't needed. Still liking that 4th rounder Nix got for trading away Marshawn Lynch? How is that trade up for TJ Graham doing? About the only thing Nix did that was great was getting rid of Bills chief scout Tom Modrak, and yet the offensive side of the scouting dept still sucks. I for one am darn grateful a 73 year old Buddy Nix will finally be gone from the team.
  3. I think Marrone to the NY Jets is great as long as he brings OC Nathaniel Hackett, and Pat Morris (Bills O line coach) with him. Can we give him Kraig Urbik, and Eric Pears too?
  4. This is a real possibility as Bill Polian loves him Some Reich. "If Polian will be part of the future, some expect the Bills to pursue Chargers offensive coordinator Frank Reich. “Bill loves him,” a source with knowledge of the Polian-Reich relationship told PFT." http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/12/31/whats-next-for-the-bills/ Then again, the Pegula's just might someone with a tad more experience... "During a midseason appearance on PFT Live, Tim Graham of the Buffalo Newssuggested that the Pegulas would pursue Bill Cowher, if/when a coaching vacancy arises. The former Steelers coach, who led the team to a Super Bowl win nine years ago, has from time to time mused about a return. Now eight years removed from the sidelines, his name rarely comes up as a viable candidate for vacant jobs."
  5. Marrone going wasn't a great thing, but his OC & O line coach going will be. Buddy Nix won't be given a new contract, and he will finally be gone. Bill Polian is expected to be the new president of football operations late Jan. Then there is this~ "During a midseason appearance on PFT Live, Tim Graham of the Buffalo Newssuggested that the Pegulas would pursue Bill Cowher, if/when a coaching vacancy arises. The former Steelers coach, who led the team to a Super Bowl win nine years ago, has from time to time mused about a return. Now eight years removed from the sidelines, his name rarely comes up as a viable candidate for vacant jobs." http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/12/31/whats-next-for-the-bills/
  6. Its not just Marrone gone because Terry Pegula wouldn't give Nathaniel Hackett an extension as the good news just keeps coming Bill Polian to take over the football operations side late Jan More good new as Jason LaCanfora says Bills adviser Buddy Nix will not be offered a new contract once his expires next month Man, you gotta let us know when you get more of these feelings
  7. That was mostly because that goober Buddy Nix was still on the payroll, and now we have heard after his contract expires he will be gone too. You know, his philosophy that OG's are a dime a dozen, any OT can slide inside and play OG, you should dfrat OG's in the mid to late rounds. Looking like its going to be a great 2015!
  8. more good news
  9. Pure speculation at this point "Report: Mutual interest between Jets, Marrone" http://profootballta...n-jets-marrone/ The Jets are reported to be interested in Mike Maccagnan for their GM position, and Jason LaCanfora reports that its his if he wants it. Then Maccagnan have a long history together, and he signed Marrone to play O line for the London Monarchs back in 1991. Plus, 45] FollowJason La Canfora Verified account ‏ @ JasonLaCanfora Would be a certain irony in Marrone drafting another FSU QB as Jets head coach, I suppose. Marrone was not a Geno Smith guy at all in 2013 More on this GM. http://www.ganggreen...general-manager
  10. Doug Whaley will still be the GM, and all Polian will do is properly advise him. You know on areas like the O line players which Buddy Nix had his hands in, the QB situation, all areas of the offense. The Bills will now probably wait to hire a new HC, and OC.
  11. Looks like they do, as they didn't want to give Hackett an extension
  12. If he signs with the Jets I'll be doing backflips for a week
  13. W0000T W0000T Just tweeted FollowJason La CanforaVerified account‏@JasonLaCanfora Bill Polian will be taking over as Bills team president/football czar but move may not be announced til late Jan, due to his commitments
  14. I just thank the lord that Terry Pegula was smart enough to not want to offer Nathaniel Hackett, or Pat Morris an extension
  15. I'd like to add my two cents. While I didn't mind Marrone staying despite the fact that he is the supposed offensive background, and the team was top ten worst the last two years on offense. I feel It was Schwartz, and Orton that bailed him out this year. Hopefully the Bills find better assistants then Nathaniel Hackett, and that crappy O line coach.
  16. So why does the consensus here want him to remain as the guy the GM & HC report to? I just don't get this!! If he never, ever made a "football'' decision then why would it be that big a deal just to retain him as president of the non football operations side? Then hire someone who has prior experience along with a known history of making good judgement calls for the team. Doug Whaley should stay as GM, but he needs someone with a sharp football mind over him to help with certain aspects of the team. Like not trading away the 2016 first round pick for any position other then QB. Like understanding that building a successful offensive line with immensely help the entire offense function properly. The scrubs Whaley has tried to obtain in replacing Andy Levitre have been a joke for the last two years. The trading away of Stevie, while trading for Mike Williams, Bryce Brown. Then if the trade for Sammy Watkins had not been made for whatever reason the FO stated that the #1 pick would have been TE Eric Ebron, and the #2 Cyrus KouandJio Also, lets not forget that had he been able to make the trade up the Bills would have drafted RB Carlos Hyde. Just about every offensive draft pick, and offensive free agent obtained the last two years have been very questionable. It begs the question do the Bills even have decent college, offensive scouts? I also don't see how two straight years of bad performance is neglected on the offensive side. The Bills have been top 10 worst on offense for two years in a row, and among the very worst in some meaningful stats. Like 31st in red zone scoring, and nothing was done during the season to even attempt to correct that situation. As I see it, this franchise is desperate for a top football mind as president of the team. Someone explain to me exactly why one of the very richest owners in the league still need Russ Brandon? As Terry Pegula stated, if I want to make money I'll drill another well.
  17. I dunno if any of you watched the Rams this year with Austin Davis 3-5 or Shaun Hill 3-5 at QB. St Louis HC Jeff Fisher is praying Bradford returns and stays healthy in 2015 to save his job. The Rams were in the toughest division in the NFL last year, and they need that franchise QB as badly as Buffalo does. I highly doubt St Louis (Fisher) lets Bradford leave at all, and perhaps they restructure and perhaps they don't. The Rams certainly look desperate enough to continue to pay him whatever it takes. OTOH, given Bradford's injury history I can see the Rams actively looking for a better backup QB in free agency, and the draft. Then they should draft this year for the O line, as they were 10th in hits allowed, 8th in sacks allowed.
  18. Bradford not a viable option at this time. "Rams want Sam Bradford to compete for starting job" http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/12/30/rams-want-sam-bradford-to-compete-for-starting-job/ "The subject of Bradford’s contract also came up. Bradford is due to make nearly $13 million next season and said Tuesday he’s been focusing on rehab rather than a potential restructuring or pay cut that will almost certainly have to happen if the Rams are bringing Bradford back to compete for a job." 13 million really?
  19. In the fans perspective the difference between the defense and the offense is that there is no QB on the defensive side to point the finger at when things go bad. So the DC gets all the blame. On the offensive side its usually everything but the OC getting the blame, its the QB's fault, the RB's fault, the WR's fault, the TE's fault, the O lines fault. You really, really gotta be a crappy OC to get the blame when things go bad on the offense, and yet the last two years in the top ten worst offenses in the league. Last season the Bills finished the year with 3 rookie QB's on the roster, and the Bills were the #2 team in the league in rushing while being #1 in rushing attempts. At 6-10 all it got them was a lot of meaningless rushing yards, as the team was one of the worst in three downs and out percentage. One of the worst in third down efficiency. 31st in first down statistics. The O line was bad, the team had one decent WR that was hurt a lot of the year, and three rookie QB's. Never mind that all that running the Bills did was 71% of the time right up the middle in a very predictable run, run, pass offense that garnered the nickname the "hurry up and punt offense". Lot-0-blame to go around, so the OC stays. Care to recall what Marrone stated about his team after 2013? "We must be doing something right to be the #2 team in the NFL in rushing". Now for 2014 the Bills started the season in great fashion by rushing more then they threw it the first two games against Chicago, Miami, and it worked very well. Then for some unknown reason the Bills OC went pass happy for the Charger game, and never stopped. The Bills finished 2014 with 579 passing attempts vs 402 rushing attempts. The Bills passing game this season lacked the same things they lacked in 2013, and that's ingenuity, imagination along with the inability to adjust to what the defense was doing. As Mike Williams stated after the Texans game that on offense "we adjusted a little to late" He mentioned that the Bills had game planned for a specific defense, and the Texans were in a completely different coverage. It wasn't until late in the 3rd quarter that the offense properly adjusted to the coverage the Texans were in. How lame is that the Bills OC doesn't even know what defense he is looking at or doesn't know enough to make proper adjustments asap. I think we Bills fans are screwed for another season of having a championship defense, and a very bad offense again. I don't see any QB coming in and having the success of Orton in going 7-5.
  20. Just a shame that in all their "consensus" they didn't have one decent offensive mind among them.
  21. To the OP story http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/305234/doug-marrone-could-opt-out-of-bills-contract " ESPN's Adam Schefter believes Marrone could be the top candidate on the open market if he sets himself free. Marrone reportedly butted heads with members of the Bills' front office earlier in the year. Schefter doesn't think it's a "dead-lock clinch, an automatic thing" that Marrone returns to Buffalo."
  22. The first thing the Bills need to do is acquire a senior NFL football adviser, and the next is to listen to him. The Bills offensive scouting dept is very questionable the last two years with Woods, Watkins, Henderson the only starters out of nine offensive draft picks the last two years. Not to mention the bums the team picked up in free agency for the offense in Mike Williams, Bryce Brown, Chris Williams, Doug Legursky. Then who in their right mind thought Colin Brown was going to replace Levitre? Then, would anyone really want to draft another rookie QB so Nathaniel Hackett can ruin his development too? Thaddeus Lewis, Jeff Tuel, and EJ weren't enough so far? Not to mention Kyle Orton regressed as the season went on. I'd rather see Jay Cutler, Mark Sanchez or an experienced NFL QB then another rookie. Even then I have no idea how any QB is going to play well if things stay the same with the line, coaches.
  23. To include WTH happened to the O line the last two years. The team lacks a concise offensive direction. Polian has stated he likes Marrone, yet some offensive coaches need to be replaced without question. This franchise is rather desperate for a real NFL senior adviser / team president IMO.
  24. Jason La CanforaVerified account‏@JasonLaCanfora Continue to hear very strong possibility Bill Polian takes some sort of football czar role w/Bills. His son Chris would not be going w/him :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: :worthy:
