Blueprint for a Bills win vs. the Jets
thewildrabbit replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As one already put it, STOP THE RUN! The Jets offense under ex Dolphins HC Tony Sparano is going back to the Jets formula from 2 years ago. Ground and pound attack, particularly with Tim Tebow running the wildcat. Many have stated that Tebow is not a QB but better suited to be a RB. Its gonna be a looooooong day for the Bills if their new DC / defense can't stop the run. Yea, and limit Keller like the OP stated. As for the offense, SJ is nursing a groin injury again. Depending how serious it is it could limit what the Bills do in the passing offense. So I'd like to see the Bills steal the Jets play book and run the ball right at them in various ways.Once the Jets are determined to stop the run, then pass it. In that 2nd game last season Gailey did find a way to confuse the Jets D by mixing up formations and plays. If this man is ever going to step up and build a winning team he needs to show he can outsmart a guy who just can't stop blabbing about his team, and a guy who was fired as HC. GO BILLS! -
The running game and throwing to the TE as the primary. Asking Chan Gailey to NOT throw the ball is like asking him to not breathe. Last season Gailey seemed determined to copy cat the Patriot offense despite the fact he doesn't have Tom Brady at QB, Welker, Gronk or Hernandez. Plus, he doesn't have the type of O line like Brady has that lets him float around in the pocket for 7+ seconds. What the Bills had last season after week 8 was a banged up O line with the best lineman on IR, one decent WR in SJ, and a banged up QB in Fitz. That didn't stop Gailey from calling constant 4-5 WR sets all game long. Bills fans can only dream about putting the ball in the Bills best offensive weapon all game long.... Fred Jackson getting 25+ touches = win!

Its times like these that I wonder if the Bills should have used the 2010-2011-2012 first round picks on offense rather a back up RB, a DT and a CB. A decent RT, AJ Green, and Michael Floyd certainly would have the Bills competing with the Patriots for the most potent offense This game is so important in so many ways. SJ matched up against the leagues best CB, and he has a nagging groin issue again. If you watched that first game from last year the Bills were dominated more then the score showed. The Jets bumping the receivers on the line and nobody getting open meant Fitz holding the ball longer then he should have. I know I'd be a lot more confidant in the offense if the Bills had a true #2 WR on the team, Nelson and Jones don't scare anyone. TJ needs to show he can catch a ball should Fitz have the opportunity to throw it his way. The Jets don't have a dominate pass rusher per se. but they manage to get pressure on the QB because they have such good coverage on the opponents receivers. How will Glenn fair at LT, how will Hairston fair at RT? Will the Bills find a true #2 WR this year or will it be a repeat of last years 4-5 WR sets with only one decent receiver. One way to take pressure off the QB and the O line is to run the ball non stop with FJ & CJ...GO BILLS! PS. I really don't know how much cap space the Bills have, if any. But, I'd like to see Plax, and perhaps Chris Cooly (if healthy) in a Bills uni. as I have no faith in anyone but Chandler and SJ.

It won't take 5 games! This board, along with all Bills fans enthusiasm will explode should they beat the Jets on Sunday. The higher the Bills score the more enthusiastic everyone will be. Conversely, should the Bills lose badly...you can expect a fleet of WWWWAmbulances to converge on two Bills drive.

How Important is Week 1 for Us?
thewildrabbit replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Get real, this is Chan Gailey you are talking about, did you watch the 2nd half of last season at all? Gailey had the power to help Fitz a lot more then he has the last two years, instead he chose to mostly build the defense up...then he put the defense in hands of the most inept DC the Bills have had in the last decade. I'm just thankful Fitz has the ability to read the defense, call the pre snap protections and change the play if needed. -
How Important is Week 1 for Us?
thewildrabbit replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea, what he said. I look back to 2010 and think that Fitz was able to figure out the Ravens, Steelers, Bengals, Browns defenses so well because he had played against them in the AFC north while as backup QB on the Bengals. Fitz is a brainiac and will learn how to beat Rex Ryan's and Bill Belichick's defenses, its only a matter of time. Hopefully that time is this week -
Jeez, you mean the same kinds of game plan the Bills went into the meadowlands last year against the Giants and lost? I think Cowboys WR Kevin Ogletree proved the point about how serious an issue it is to have really good 2nd & 3rd WR's on the team. Its sorta easy for any team to cover one good WR, more difficult to cover two, and very difficult to cover 3 or more. Its why the Patriots had one of the worst defenses in the NFL last season, and yet the offense was so potent it didn't matter all the way up until the last game of the season. But, that last game for the Patriots was against the NY Giants, who beat the Patriots while putting great pressure on the QB. so....

Most Bills fans know how important this game is, in terms of a division title. Like myself, I think most fans are still contemplating if the Bills did enough this off season to take the division. Will the LBers be able to stop the run or will they let the team down? Will Wannstache really build a top ten defense? Lord knows that there is 100 million reasons that the defense should be very improved. Will having only one decent WR limit the offense again this year. (SJ now hampered again with a groin injury) Will that 3rd round reach for TJ Graham have any impact at all? Will the rookie LT need a few weeks of playing time before he settles into an all pro form, or fall on his face? Will Fitz be able improve his play despite the team around him not greatly improving? Do the Bills have enough depth to survive if they have another year of rash injuries everywhere? Will Chan Gailey call nothing but 4-5 WR sets and forget the run game again? Will Bills fans see "the light of day"? Will they see that proverbial baby? So many questions to be answered, all we can do is wait....

Former Ravens owner Art Modell has passed away.
thewildrabbit replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Browns fans would probably burn down the HoF should Modell ever get in there "No grudge from this Clevelander. I was disappointed to learn that Modell did not die in a flaming car wreck with LeBron behind the wheel."" http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/07/sports/football/art-modell-nfl-owner-of-browns-then-ravens-is-dead-at-87.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all -

thewildrabbit replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What Model did was move his Cleveland Browns team to Baltimore where he won a SB, I can understand the hate from Browns fans. This happened in 1995, so not that long ago. gotta be painful to be a Browns fan. Unlike the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland hasn't even been to a super bowl and have been a worse team then the Bills over the last decade. Whereas the Ravens have been a playoff team basically since Model moved them, save for the first few years. -
What....No Smack Talk? Bills vs Jets
thewildrabbit replied to Rockinon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills are 1 for 7 the last 8 games against the Jets, almost as bad as the Patriots. Last time i looked the Bills were 6-10 last year and were swept... I certainly hope the Bills beat the Jets Sunday..but who knows what Chan will do. The Bills best weapon is Fred Jackson, the Bills need to run the ball. -
The Patriots are still one of the most explosive teams in the NFL "if" Tom Brady has his usual 5-7 seconds in the pocket to throw. Last year they had the #2 overall receiver in yards, WR Wes Welker AND the #6 overall receiver in yards in TE Rob Gronkowski! The Patriots 3rd best receiver was the #31 receiver in yards, TE Aaron Hernandaz. WR Dion Branch was ranked #57 in yards. Its why Tom Brady was #2 in the NFL in passing yards last year, and the Patriots were the #2 total offense in yards in the league. To put that in perspective, the Patriots had the #2, #6, #31, #57 best receivers in yardage. The Bills had Stevie Johnson at #19 overall, and the next best was David Nelson at #61. So the Patriots had 4 players better then the Bills second best receiver. Receptions are about the same story, except Wes Welker had 122 and the next best player in the NFL only had 100, Roddy White. The Patriots fatal flaw this year could be their O line, and they haven't looked very solid so far this pre season. The Jets have a top 10 defense, or should have. Last season they were the #5 in the league in yardage. They have arguably the very best CB in the league in Darrelle Revis. This year they hired a new OC in ex Dolphin HC who is supposed to return the team to a ground & pound attack. The Bills need to stop the Jets run game and good things should follow. The Jets fatal flaw could also be their O line, a different RT. The Dolphins have an entirely new coaching staff, they lost DC Mike Nolan. Plus they are starting a rookie QB. They traded away their best WR in Brandon Marshall The Dolphins entire team is a fatal flaw, I don't see them winning 4 games this season. Remember that "if" for the Patriots, the Bills have a new and improved D line and perhaps now have one of the best pass rushes in the NFL this year. Who are opposing offensive lineman gonna double up on, Kyle Williams and Mario Williams? If they do that then Marcel Darius should kill them one on one. Do the Bills have the LBers to stop the run? Will Dave Wannstedt, asst HC / Bills DC show he still knows how to build a great 3-4 defense, like he did when he was DC for the Bills hated rivals in the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins. The defense should be top 15 or better this year, possibly top 10. The O line has a new LT to shore up the line, the receiver corps has a new speedy WR. If the team can stay healthy and play like they did in the first half of last season, 5-2 after 7 games. I hope the players don't forget who beat them in week 9 last year, and who rubbed their noses in it after that 11-27 loss. This could be the year....
