I think most fans and sports writers were shocked at how poorly the defense played considering the 2 new DE's obtained in free agency. What was the line i kept hearing over and over, "best D line in the game". The 100 million dollar man had one tackle! "Buffalo's awful secondary does not help. The Bills allowed a 123.4-rating day by Mark Sanchez, one of the worst passers in the league." We all knew Fitz has bad games, who's fault is it the Bills don't have anyone on the roster should they want to bench Fitz. The writer of the article is right tho, why hasn't this regime even tried to draft a QB in 3 years? "Despite the NFL being a passing league, the Bills have no quarterback they drafted on their roster, just an assortment of quarterbacks other teams didn't want."

Did Chan pull the plug too early On Vince Young?
thewildrabbit replied to PS 56's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The difference might just be that Rex Ryan actually coaches his players well enough so they know what to expect on each play. TJ Graham was inactive because Gailey stated he didn't know the offense well enough. "He wasn't quite ready; he's probably still not quite ready. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2012/9/10/3307988/buffalo-bills-tj-graham-inactive-david-nelson-injury Just sayin, the Bills didn't look anywhere near ready Sunday. not on offense, not on defense, not on special teams -

It looks like none of the Bills QB's can run Gaileys complex offense, even Fitz looked like crap Sunday. I can't imagine any of the QB's looking good with the sorry corps of WR's the Bills have, one WR is easily covered. The timing between receivers and QB was off by so much it looked like Fitz needed more snaps in preseason. then again the entire team looked horrid in every aspect. Perhaps because of the strike shortened last off season is the reason the Bills started out well in those first 5 games, was the offense simplified for everyone last year? It all comes down to coaching, the Bills were greatly out coached by big mouth Rex -

You guys... The problem is TJ is a Fitz clone who doesn't yet know the system, doesn't have that ability to find the open receiver in under 3 seconds and get him the ball like Fitz has done in past games. Then he would have been like, this is it? One decent WR to throw to? I don't see any QB having much success in Gaileys offense unless its garbage time after the game is out of hand. You guys think its just the QB, Yea, he is part of the problem. Its also the system, the inability for the receivers to get open, the timing just wasn't there, the players just weren't ready to play. Not on offense, defense or special teams -
Yea no shi...kidding! Freaking Ralph! Marty S...games over 500, 74. Division Championships 8, 327 games 200 wins, one tie, 126 losses .613 winning % Coaches that worked under Marty S, Marty's coaching tree, Bill Cowher Herm Edwards, Cam Cameron, Tony Dungy, Marvin lewis, Ken Wisenhunt, Lovie Smith, Rod Marinelli , Mike Tomlin The main point is everywhere Marty has gone he took a PoS team and built them into a contender. Something the Buffalo Bills have needed for a decade. What we have now, 10-23=.303%

Let the Matt Barkley countdown begin!!
thewildrabbit replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cmon now, everyone needs to keep blaming just the QB! It doesn't matter that every time Fitz went to throw in the first half the Jets had the receiver well covered. Nowhere to throw and that gunslinger mentality just kept getting him into trouble. Plus the fact that nobody on the Bills looked ready to play an NFL game. Fitz sucked, no doubt. But you are correct sir, the Bills have no #2 -#3 WR's worth anything. Kinda why I harped all off season about all those 4-5 WR sets Gailey calls with only SJ. This is a big reason why the Falcons went after Julio Jones and paid so dearly for him, one WR doesn't get it done. Not like the Bills didn't know they needed a top #2 WR. It was a priority in the draft, and in free agency, they whiffed in both. Even now they could upgrade the WR position with Plax, and they refuse to do it. Chan Gailey is all about garbage time for his QB's, and basically always has been. Tyler Thigpen in 08, that team went 2-14. Fitz looked much better once the Jets had the game in hand and went into softer coverages, and dropped back deeper to stop the big play. I have no faith in Chan, even Jauron did better with less talent. -

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Contrary to the diplomatic comments he made on his radio show, Marty Schottenheimer actually did want the Buffalo Bills head-coaching job. BADLY Bills owner Ralph Wilson, however, wasn't interested, sources close to Schottenheimer informed me Tuesday after the club introduced Chan Gailey as their man. Schottenheimer had a strong desire to return to coaching after three years away from the sidelines and had an ally in former Bills general manager Buddy Nix. They became close while working together with the San Diego Chargers. Schottenheimer played linebacker four seasons with the Bills, winning an AFL title with them in 1965. But the Bills couldn't consider Schottenheimer a candidate because Wilson wasn't comfortable with him, the sources said. http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/9487/marty-schottenheimer-wanted-bills-gig

what do you think of our 10th pick?
thewildrabbit replied to Damond Talbot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But then so did the entire team... Wannstache is making George Edwards ball hawking secondary look brilliant... -
So did I. The kind of play you saw on the field Sunday would never happen with Shotty running the team. It would be a run first to set up the pass with a dominating defense type of team. Every Bills fans dream of a team. Think of how badly Marty wants redemption for being fired after a 14-2 season! BTW, how did move that work out for good old AJ Smith? 11-5, 8-8, 13-3, 9-7, 8-8 a first round exit for Norv Turner after a 13-3 season, sounds familiar. Getting rid of Drew Brees for Phillip Rivers paid off also, huh? Norv Turner took a team with the best talent in the NFL and brought them to 8-8

David Nelson torn ACL- Out for year
thewildrabbit replied to BRAWNDO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Leave it to this front office to go into a draft knowing that they need to either draft a good #2 WR or find one in free agency. It was a primary need, and in just like past years the Bills manage to fail at that position. -
Does Chan Gailey worry about injuries so much that he has his players practice in tutu's and leotards? Do they all not play in pads and walk around saying "don't touch me I'm a star" ? Nobody, on the Bills looked ready to play in an NFL pro football game Sunday. ( Save Glenn, Spiller, Kelsay) Do these men need to play themselves into playing shape? Will it take a few games before they look even close to being ready? At this point it looks like the Bills will be in the Matt Barkley sweepstakes for that #1 overall pick

You guys forget that Buddy Nix was in conversations with Marty S for the Buffalo Bills HCing job and when he approached the owner Mr Ralph Wilson about hiring Marty, Wilson stated he didn't (and I quote) "feel comfortable" with having Marty as his HC. Lets not also forget that Jauron let it be known that he was constantly on the phone to Ralph Wilson during the season, as much as 3 hours a day. Considering how much time a HC needs to put into his team it really must take away so much from a HC when he is micromanaged by phone for that much time each day. who really shivs a git how old he is if he can get this team to a winning record!!! Besides, he would fit right in next to 70 something Buddy Nix and 90 something Ralph Wilson

At this point I think the Bills lose a lot more then I had previously thought. I can only wonder when they will look like they all know what they are doing out on the field. At this point the Browns should whump them. Maybe, just maybe, they beat the Dolphins once.... -
Bills shredded on national and out of town radio
thewildrabbit replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Houston let him walk and got nothing for him! The Bills were offered 2 first rounders by Denver for Bruce Smith and kept him. Buddy Nix probably figured if I get the defense the BPA in free agency the defense should improve. He must have thought the same thing about the 1st pick being for a DB.... who looked lost out on the field Sunday. When i see players players like all pro Kyle Williams playing below the level I've seen them play in the past. I can only think its bad coaching -
Fitzmagic, more like Fitzpathetic
thewildrabbit replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We saw that Fitz can play bad the second half of last season, nothing new here..... except for the fact that Nix / Gailey have had 3 drafts / 3 free agency periods to make a change and they didn't The defense is what shocked me, particularly the D line. -
It wasn't just a stat, 0-1. It was an embarrassing showing for a team that got manhandled. It looked like the Buffalo Bills were the joke of the league again, and only a few Bills players looked like they really knew what they were doing on that field. It wasn't just how poorly the players performed, it was they were out matched in almost every aspect. When Fitz threw the ball most of the time there was a green jersey right next to his receiver. When the Jets threw it there was a green jersey all by himself. Coaches didn't have them ready, looked like a pro team playing a really bad team for most of the game
-
I expected Kyle Williams to be in the backfield all game long, it happened once and he whiffed the tackle. I expected Super Mario to be extra disruptive and get those long arms in the air when he can't get close, didn't happen. I expected MD to be singled up and have a monster game, didn't happen. If the LBers and secondary can't cover anyone and the QB plays like Fitz did last year in getting the ball out in 3 seconds....it was a long day for the defense. Chris Kelsay played like he wanted to win, but it didn't matter since no one else was. The offense, the defense, the special teams all played like it was still pre season save Kelsay and Spiller...when do the rest start to play?
-
Me also, but we are in the minority. It appears that most fans / posters here are content to just throw Fitz under the bus, with good reason, he did suck today. But we all knew he has games like this, wasn't this new and improved defense supposed to bail him out when he gets into trouble? Ok whats the story, the 2011 #3 overall draft pick looked not so great. All pro Kyle Williams looked not so great. The 100 million dollar free agent DE looked not so great. one tackle, thats it? Think about how many early draft picks are on the Bills defensive roster, and then tell me it was all Fitz! Tom Brady threw 4 picks against the Bills last season, crap happens when you throw it up in the air. This team wasn't prepared to play in any aspect, offense, defense, special teams gave up a TD on a punt return. Fitz tried to fight back in the 2nd half and the defense just kept giving up plays.

My son was at the game, club seats, Don't think he stayed till the end tho. On the bright side.... "The Dolphins are on their way after Sunday's 20-point loss to the Texans. Per the Herald, Ross does not have "blind faith" in Ireland and would be willing to fire him if things go south. Another friend of Ross said Ireland would likely not survive if the Dolphins went 5-11 this season. As the Dolphins continue to pile up losses, expect fire-the-GM talk to become louder and louder. Ireland did an incredibly poor job of surrounding rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill with talent." http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/240498/fins-gm-ireland-could-be-in-serious-trouble -

The most worrying thing I saw today....
thewildrabbit replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The offense and defense weren't prepared, and both teams looked lost. They played as though it were still pre-season. CJ Spiller is about the only bright spot and even he fumbled. Most fans want to throw Fitz under the bus, but who was it that stated he can with with Fitz as his QB! Who has had 3 drafts, 3 free agency periods to bring in a more effective QB and hasn't done it. Special teams gave up a punt return for a TD. The offense gives up 3 INT's, The defense with a 100 million dollar DE and Kyle Williams healthy looked worse then the George Edwards teams This comes down to coaching, both Gailey and Wannstedt failed in presenting a proper game plan and motivating the players properly. No heart, it was an embarrassment to be a Bills fan today.
