This is the very same HC who allowed George Edwards 2 years to prove how inept he was when most of us knew it his first year. Wannsache is Gailey's good buddy so of course he will back him 100%. Its more then obvious to me that Gailey is as clueless about the defense as was Jauron about the offense. I just wonder if RW / Nix allow Gailey to finish the season. Looking at how badly the Bills lost to the Jets / Patriots, and how badly the team needs a franchise QB. I'd say the firing should happen the sooner the better. As for the lack of production from the D line, its all coaching IMO. Where is the stunting, the blitzing? If running a base 4-3 is all your going to do and its not working then you need to get them some help somehow. It looked like Wannstache simply took a nap in the 2nd half of that Patriot game and just kept running a nickel package

Chan Gailey....Two Major, Fundamental Mistakes
thewildrabbit replied to rcatty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gailey is a very likable guy, it just sucks he is clueless about the defense or DC's. 2 years with George Edwards and now an out of touch dinosaur minded DC that is one of Chan's good friends. Its not just Fitz, as Fitz would do well if he was given a limited role instead of forcing him to pass all game like Tom Brady. Its also the fact that 3 years into the Nix / Gailey regime and still no rookie QB to develop. It will be a lot of things that will get Gailey fired, his inability it identify player talent, and identify good assistant coaches. His myopic approach to running an offense in being so determined to force a perennial backup QB to try and emulate Tom Brady and the Patriots offense. Gailey doesn't have Brady, or the wealth of receivers the Patriots have. Gailey has one good WR, one good TE and likes to run 4-5 WR sets that are meaningless because only one guy is gonna be open. I didn't think it was possible, but Gailey still hasn't beaten moron Jauron's 7-9 mark. Its only a matter of time before this HC is done, few weeks maybe. -
Who will be HC next year?
thewildrabbit replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ya know BB you might have something here. Fangio steps in and that 49ers D goes #2 defense last year, and #4 so far this year Dunno if he knows who to hire for his OC but looking at his record he should be one of the hottest HCing candidates next year -
Who will be HC next year?
thewildrabbit replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pass the crack pipe willyas... 12-24 sucks IMO. The ONLY thing Gailey has been able to do is get a backup QB to post some good numbers, and get the RB's to break some long runs from a spread passing formation. Gaileys defenses suck worse then anything Jauron fielded, and he has more talent. Plus jauron managed to win more games with Trent Edwards / JP Losman at QB along with total morons at OC. Jauron was better, his W/L record says so. The two wins this year came against an 0-4 Cleveland / 1-3 Chiefs teams. The Bills were literally smoked by 2 division rivals. 580 yards given up to the Patriots offense, 2 100 yard rushers, 2 100 yard receivers -

me too NWIH does a shotty defense play as bad as the Bills have against the Jets and Patriots I can only hope Ralph Wilson wakes up at some point during the next 5 games, and after the Bills winning only one of those he makes a change at HC & DC. Might as well scrub the season and go all out for that #1 overall. Whats the point of another 5-11 / 6-10 season -
[closed]Buffalo Bills are 2-2
thewildrabbit replied to thewildrabbit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not that idiotic, look what happened in Kansas City -
Yea, I highly doubt he took money from the Patriots to throw the game. Its more likely he wants the HCing job, so he tanked on purpose to screw his good friend who hired him.

So, the Bills are 2-2, no time to panic? One win against the 0-4 Cleveland Browns against a rookie QB... one win against the 1-3 Kansas City Chiefs, Matt Cassel at QB. The two losses against the Jets (48-28) and Patriots (52-28) who are both division rivals. The Bills didn't just lose to the Patriots / Jets, they were owned, and embarrassed. More specifically the defense just failed to show up big time. 580 yards of offense allowed to the Patriots, 2 100 yard rushers, 2 100 yard receivers. Mark Sanchez threw 3 TD's against the Bills, yea the very same Sanchez who went 13-29 for 103 yards and 1 INT against the 49ers this week. 28 points should be enough offense to win in the NFL, 438 yards of Bills offense against the Patriots, 390 yards of Bills offense against the Jets. There is no question that this years defense with a healthy Kyle Williams, a 100 million dollar DE in super Mario, another decent pass rusher in Mark Anderson and newly promoted DC Dave Wannstedt the Bills were supposed to have a top 15 defense at the very least. Many people talking that this was supposedly the very best D line in the game. Instead, its the same old can't stop any one or anything Its sad to say, but it looks as tho as inept as George Edwards was for two years, he managed to do better with less quality players. Last year the Bills were able to put pressure on Brady and get 4 INT's. Even Jauron and his Tampa 2 didn't look this bad against division rivals. Bottom line, is Wannstedt really this much worse then George Edwards? Or is he purposely tanking the defense to get the HCing job from his old buddy Chan Gailey who hired him? I don't know what the answer is, I just wonder if Bills fans will need to endure another full year of defensive coaching ineptitude. Somebody on that staff must know how to run a 4-3. Bob Sanders? George Catavolos?

Is it time yet to look forward to the Draft?
thewildrabbit replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Most fans just want to blame the players, and have been doing so for over a decade. Lets face it, until the Bills hire a top HC they will always be doormats. This may not change until ownership changes -
Glenn & Urbik out a"while"
thewildrabbit replied to marauderswr80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As long as Chan Gailey "thinks" he has an elite QB in Fitz, the team is going nowhere. Almost every Bills fan acknowledges that Fitz is average at best, its Gailey that keeps putting Fitz in shotgun spread 4-5 WR sets like he has Brady / Brees at QB. Abandons the run game to constantly throw with only one top WR on the team. Good left side of the line, sub par right side. Gailey calls plays like he has the Patriots offense, and all he really has is Fitz -
Ever feel crazy - Like there is something wrong with you
thewildrabbit replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Every year Bills fans fool themselves into thinking this is "their" year! The reality is the Bills just keep hiring inferior coaches who make a bunch of wrong decisions year after year. Three years into this regime and still no franchise QB. So the Bills draft a rookie QB next year, fill the stadium and we all get another look at JP Losman / Trent Edwards type clone falling on his face because the coaches are clueless. Nothing will get better until ownership changes -
Apparently, Chan Gailey thinks Fitz is Drew Brees / Tom Brady at QB, and that he has a great receiving corps instead of only just one good WR for his 5 WR sets Stache either really sucks hard or he is trying to tank the defense so he gets Gailey fired, and can take over as head coach. Either way its looking like inept George Edwards was the better DC,who did more with less. Stache needs to go!

Bills are 2-2 ..... now what?
thewildrabbit replied to FanofFredJackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Got a shot to beat the Titans, Rams, Jags, so that would be 5-11. I'd just as soon see the head coach and DC fired now to ensure that #1 overall next draft -
Hire Eric Mangini As A Defensive Consultant
thewildrabbit replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its looking like Wannstache is throwing the games in hopes of getting Gailey fired so he can take over....No defensive DC with as much experience as he has lets his defense play like t hey did today. Manginni as DC would be a huge upgrade. Brian Billick as HC would be an upgrade. Bill Cowher "the chin" as HC would be an upgrade. still under contract in TV Marty Schottenheimer as HC would be an upgrade, and the guy could probably step in asap. I just gotta wonder what this board is gonna be like after the next 2 games. AT SF and Arizona.....2-4. THEN, Tenn, Houston, NE, Miami. so 3 -7 -
Bills fans are so myopic that all they see is the QB! NVM the fact that the bills had a 14 point lead and couldn't hold it because they have no clock killing power. The Bills have 2 excellent RB's and yet they gain all their yards running out of a spread in passing formations. The Bills don't have a power running game even tho they posses one of the biggest lines in the NFL All Chan Gailey seems to know how to do is force his very average QB to try and carry the team all on his own. This is the very same crud we saw year after year from Jauron and his know nothing assistant coaches. The Bills still aren't very good on the right side of that O line. They still don't have a viable top #2 WR. The Bills have one good TE, the Patriots have one good one and two great ones. Good thing the Bills have used so many draft picks on the defense the last few years, so they can give up 580 yards of offense to the Patriots. As bad as George Edwards defense was, this defense looks worse with better players!!

Sad to say, George Edwards did better with less. I only wonder how long we will have to endure this DC

wow the Bills defense just packed it in, and against a weak Pats line -
Chris Johnson's Decline
thewildrabbit replied to AReed Deep For6's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very true IMO Mostly his old head coach Jeff Fisher built a top O line and directed a run first offensive scheme no matter who his OC was. I know most of you don't believe stuff like this, but this very thing also applies to QB's. Vince Young was in a very QB protected system that ran the ball to set up the pass, Kinda why he looked decent in one system, and looked like crap in Chan Gaily's. Plus a strong running game with a top defense it made the Titans a very good balanced team. Teams that play the Titans are now geared to focus on one thing, stopping CJ2k! Not to mention no other RB on the team is able to do much either. Tenn is dead last in offensive rushing. OTOH, some would argue he got paid -
Are The Bills a Running Team?
thewildrabbit replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like most good coaches? 11-23 really? Won one game against a bad team because Spiller managed to break tackles and get some big runs out of a pass formations the last two weeks! Soooo, now Gailey is a running coach, after watching the Bills throw so much, and so often the last two seasons? Over hyped passing attack. really? I watched last season as Gailey would try and emulate the Patriots offense in Buffalo, only without Tom Brady, without Wes Welker, without Gronk and Hernandez, without that Patriot O line, without that Patriot offensive scheme. Just have his boys like up in a 4-5 WR set and got for it! NVM, that your personnel is more conducive to running the ball, just keep forcing that backup QB to air it out! After week 9 last year there were games when the team was playing from behind as usual and the running game was working very well, Gailey would basically abandon the run and constantly force Fitz to try and make plays. With a limited amount of skill players on the offense the Bills should have been trying to run more then throwing it. I remember a head coach trying to implement a 3-4 and hired George Edwards to run it, Gailey was his own worst enemy in terms of defense those first 2 years. A defense so bad they set a record for worst defense against the run in the 50+ year history of the franchise. Gailey is so unbelievable lucky that he inherited a team with some really good players SJ, Wood, Levitre, Fitz, Fred Jackson among others, and yet I constantly read fans here posting on how devoid of talent this team was before Gailey/ Nix. All that said, the Bills did manage to look very good against a weak opponent. The best thing to happen to the Buffalo Bills so far was playing the Chiefs at home at just the right time. The Chiefs looked as pathetic both on offense and defense as the Bills did the previous game on the road against the Jets. So many questions are still to be answered when the Bills play a good or even a top team. They were already smoked by the Jets and looked unprepared to even start an NFL game in the opener. That O line is huge, and the Bills look like they finally found a really good LT in Glenn. Now, can that line pass and run block effectively in weeks 4-5-6 when they play Patriots, at 49ers, and at Cards? The Bills have some dogs on their schedule as well as some really good teams. After watching so many poor coaching moves and decisions over the last 3 years I'm still very skeptical that Gailey is HC that can get this team to even a winning record. Although, I'm hoping he proves me wrong! -
All-22 Coaches Film -- Analysis of Fitz Week Two
thewildrabbit replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
QB's have hot and cold games, for the love of god would everyone be bitching about the QB position if we had Mike Vick? 3 TD's, 6 INT's in two games Fitz has 5 TD's- 3 INT's and is tied with Matt Ryan at the lead in the NFL in TD's. Didn't you hear, Gailey is an old school running style coach ............now! -
That is where the spread comes in, they really can't stack the box to stop the run against the spread. They can play up on the line, but if Fred or Spiller break a tackle or if someone misses a tackle its a TD or a huge gain. Not to mention the safeties blitzing, if they are too close and a WR gets behind them its a TD. Gailey did a great job of mixing things up against the Chiefs as it kept them off balance most of the game. I just hope Gailey keeps having Fitz hand off more often then throwing it, at least until Fitz starts playing better
-
If you watched Stevie Johnson walk the sidelines before the game it looked like he was sniffing smelling salts to wake himself up. Dunno whats troubling him, but it doesn't look good. Hopefully, Fitz and SJ get in sync as they need to be to have more success this year. If I'm Gailey I'd still be thinking about bringing in Plax to bolster that WR corps.
