You guys kill me, Phillip Rivers is a very good QB. What we all saw last night happens when the HC forces the QB to try and carry the entire team. He is being coached by a passing fool in Norv Turner (just like Gailey) and has another tool as his GM. The current Chargers GM is his biggest enemy after letting Darren Sproles, Michael Turner, Vincent Jackson leave. Plus letting players hold out on the O line, and not rebuilding it properly. Think of that Chargers offense with those 3 guys still there, and Marty S as the HC! Ever year Marty S would have the team running much more then they passed, and went 12-4 with Rivers at QB. Shoot, even with at HC Norv with those 3 players and the team would be so much better Now go back and watch that game, and look at how much Eddie Royal sucks. Ran bad routes, didn't make an effort for the ball. Watch the other SD receivers and notice they sorta suck also, except Gates. It would be like the Bills letting Spiller, Stevie Johnson and Fred Jackson all leave. Just my 2 cents

ESPN: Mike Holmgren leaving Browns
thewildrabbit replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Holmgren would want way more money then RW would be willing to spend. If Wilson was willing to finally open his wallet to a head coach I'd hope it would be Bill Cowher, and not another pass happy fool. This is Buffalo GDI !! This town is desperate for a run first HC who will also build a top defense. -
Eagles Fire DC Juan Castillo
thewildrabbit replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This should have happened last year, the guy sucked as a DC. This guy should have never been given a job as DC since he was a O line coach. I'll bet order this came down from the owner because Castillo was Reids friend. The Eagles defense has been bad since Jim Johnson left in 08, Sean McDermott who was DC after Johnson for 2 years also sucked, and Castillo was better. Both McDermott and Castillo have coached defenses better then George Edwards & Dave Wannstooge, what does that tell you about the Buffalo Bills? -
Who will be HC next year?
thewildrabbit replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What the fellas that say stick with Chan don't get is so many games the last 2 years have been winnable if not for the pass happy Fitz lover. Instead of more running the ball with his two top RB's Gailey prefers to have the backup QB throw. Right now I'd like to see what that O line looks like with TJ behind center. Talk about a lame duck, Gailey chose Fitz over a rookie for 3 years now. He doesn't know talent, assistants...just look at the defense! Anyway, even tho RW isn't "comfortable" with Marty S. I would choose him over anyone else at this juncture. The Bills need a HC that knows not just the HCing job but the entire football operations side. Know who to draft, and can judge asses talent on the entire team, knows what assistants to hire. The Bills are desperate for a HC that will build a power running game and strong defense, its the only way to win in Buffalo when the snow falls and that winter wind whips up in RW stadium. -
Andy Reid as Bills next head coach?
thewildrabbit replied to superbills315's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First of all ya gotta remember who the Bills owner is, he will pay 100 mill to a player and be a Grinch with his head coach choices. The only HC I can recall Wilson even coming close to paying top dollar was with Chuck Knox (because he had just won 5 divisional championships with the Rams) I'd take Andy Reid in a heartbeat just to finally see the Bills finish a season with a winning record.... although his play calling lately does remind me of Gailey's play calling. Neither has a Tom Brady / Drew Brees and yet they think they do. Plus Reid's choice of DC has me scratching my head. I think at this point I'd rather see Marty S or someone like Vic Fangio the current 49er DC, #1 defense in the NFL http://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/FangVi0.htm -
wow, who is worse. Rivers, Vick or Fitz?
-
No their RB's stink, Kolb played well enough and they have Larry Fitz & Andre Roberts 6 rec 118 yds & 2 TD's against Miami (who sucked against the Bills tho). The Dolphins sacked Kolb 8 times in their OT game, plus the Cards defense is top ten. The Bills got very lucky this time, Kolb hurt at the end of the game so a cold Skelton came in and threw an INT to Byrd, plus the tipped FG Points for, 137. Points against, 192. 0-2 in the division
-
welcome, 4th post Byrd got no mention and yet his 2 INT's were HUGE! Fitz, I gotta wonder if David Lee is causing all Fitz's problems by over thinking / discussing everything. Instead of just letting the guy play by instinct which is what got him to where he is today. Plus his timing to the receivers looks worse then I've ever seen it. Is he getting enough reps / work on the timing? I agree with your 3rd comment 100%. Now I look at the DC and gotta think if he purposely tanked the defense against the Jets / Patriots / 49ers? Total defense the Bills are 31st. Is Wannstooge really that bad running a 4-3 with this talent?

What's wrong with Chan Gailey
thewildrabbit replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chan visualizes he has Tom Brady behind center, someone needs to slap him upside the head now and again. Someone had to win this trainwreck and the Bills were the better team, letting Brad Smith take a shot downfield out of the wildcat with a lead and three minutes left not withstanding. Nothing cures a terrible, overpaid pass rush quite like the Cardinals offensive line. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-on-football/20563624/2012-nfl-grades-week-6-homefield-advantage-reigns-supreme -
The way you make it sound its as if Gailey is perfectly competent play caller depending on the given situation in the run game. I disagree! Considering the size of the current players, and the top draft picks on that Bills O line when fully healthy they should be one of the top run blocking offensive lines in and out of closed formations, they aren't. So Gailey uses the spread to run from more then he does play action with a closed formation. Granted the result is big gains when the safeties are back. But I'll go back to my original point, Gailey should be running Fred Jackson when the defense stacks the box over Spiller because Fred is more elusive, and usually breaks that first tackle. More 2 back sets rather then empty backfield sets. Then when the defense moves up and stacks the box then go to Freddy or the TE or WR,and throw just over the LBers & safeties. NFN but the Bills used the spread formation back in Jim Kelly's day along with Thurman Thomas and they ran more then they threw it most years. They ran to setup the pass. The Bills should be running the ball more period! More play action, more toss sweeps, more drive blocking. Putting the ball in the hands of the better play makers just makes more sense then letting a sub par QB throw all game long. Gailey built the offense around a less then stellar QB, and then calls plays like he has Tom Brady behind center. The point is Gailey isn't very smart for calling empty backfield sets like he has a top QB and is daring the opposing defense to stop the pass.
-
A 2-3 yard gain is not so bad when you consider letting Fitz throw it all over and he can't hit anyone past 10 yards. Then considering Spiller has a 7.6 YPC I would think it would be imperative to hand the ball off every chance you can! Why run 4-5 WR empty backfield sets when you only have one good WR? Plus, taking either Jackson or Spiller off the field for the Bills 3rd- 4th -5th WR is moronic, even if one is playing WR.
-
All this win did was ensure my having no faith in Chan Gailey, and this coaching staff. The Bills won despite the bad play calls, poor QB play. The reality is the Bills beat another bad team with a QB worse then their own. If Gailey can stop calling empty backfield shotgun pass plays, and run the ball more often...those things could certainly change my overall outlook for the rest of the season.
-
This is exactly why the spread formation works so well in allowing big gains in run plays, if they stack the box and Spiller breaks a tackle he is gone. Gailey just loves his empty backfield spread sets tho, he looks at Fitz and visualizes Tom Brady
-
Why run the Ball when Spiller is only averaging 7.6 YPC.... Lets keep putting the game in the hands of the back up QB who remains the starter

What's wrong with Chan Gailey
thewildrabbit replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This drove me nuts the 2nd half of last season. Now its driving me crazy again this year. This thread gives me hope, finally most other fans realize what a stooge Gailey really is... All this win did was give the Bills a worse draft pick, i still doubt this team finishes the season with a winning record -
Positives/negatives from today. What are yours?
thewildrabbit replied to miserable_fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills won despite the moronic play calling, and poor QB play. They proved that they can beat bad teams, with worse QB's then their own. In the AFC East, Points For 137, Points Against 192, 0-2 in the division Gailey must have put his foot up wannstooges rear, to bad it didn't help him out with the offense. No INT's for Fitz, but he still played lame All this win did was push the Bills further back from drafting a top QB. I highly doubt they finish the season with a winning record I have no faith in this coaching staff -

Finally most fans are realizing this If the Cards had any kind of decent QB its another blowout As one poster stated, all this win did was push the Bills back a few draft picks. Expecting them to really compete for the division is a dream with this coaching staff -
Marcellus Wiley talks Ralph
thewildrabbit replied to CosmicBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even tho the thread was started about RW it has been hijacked by the Flutie / Rob Johnson debaters...dunno why. Anyway, yea RW is his own worst enemy in terms of winning, but then he really doesn't care that much about winning -

Single Gap; why our defense stinks
thewildrabbit replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No offense BB, but to me its more then just the scheme or play calling! These players have been playing defense all their lives and must be pretty darn good at it to be at where they are. None of them is playing up to their potential, none of them. Almost every player on the Bills defense has a very good pedigree and should be making plays. I look at the Bills defense and have to think its 100% coaching, in terms of getting the players to understand their role in the defense and playing at their best. Also the players look like they are just going thru the motions and not overachieving like they did with Jauron. What people forget is that the players loved Jauron and played their hearts out for him, particularly on defense.(Poz & Whitner not looking so bad now are they?) Jauron's problem was lack of pass rush and lack of talent in certain areas, like at LBer / DE. This Bills defense has the talent to dominate, they just lack the direction and motivation.Although they still lack some talent at LBer. This team is still lacking talent in certain areas after 3 years ( it shouldn't be) More importantly this team is lacking motivation from the coaching staff and also from the players side, the Bills don't have a Ray Lewis anywhere!
