No offense, but complete hogwash about free agency and another excuse for the current losers in control. but like I stated, Patience is for losers The 49ers became instantly better once they hired Jim Harbaugh. From 6-10 to 13-3 JUST BY HIRING A GOOD HEAD COACH. In one year The Atlanta Falcons became instantly better when they hired Thomas Dimitroff as GM who in turn hired HC Mike Smith. From 4-12 to 11-5 JUST BY HIRING A GOOD HEAD COACH. In one year The Denver Broncos became better after ONE year by hiring the right head coach. From 4-12 to 8-8, and playoffs to 9-3 this year JUST BY HIRING A GOOD HEAD COACH in two years. This year they went after Peyton Manning and secured him in free agency (something the Buffalo Bills never even gave a thought to doing) The Indianapolis Colts fired Jim Caldwell after two seasons 10-6 to 2-14 and hired Chuck Pagano who had to leave the team this season because of illness. the team is still winning because of the supporting cast the HC assembled. The Colts are currently 8-4 and in the playoffs because they didn't tolerate a loser for a president- GM- HC swept the entire staff and hired a new GM along with a complete new staff. That same 2-14 team is 8-4 because of rookie QB Andrew Luck and because they had the balls to hire the right men. Free agency my a$$ for an excuse. The Bills handed out 100 Million dollars for a DE which they wouldn't have needed to do if anyone in the building knew a freaking thing about who / how to draft a pass rusher the last 3 years. The Bills have drafted 30+ players and brought in a bunch of free agents. How many of those have become starters and made an impact on the team, save the first round picks? Get a grip people and Face facts, this GM blows goats, The HC he hired blows goats, and the DC the HC hired is the worst of the batch 14-28 in 3 years, whats wrong with you guys that you keep making excuses for these clowns?

Patience...this GM / HC could have ten years and never build a winning team. To quote the HoF HC from the past Buffalo Bills. When Marv Levy first arrived his words were "we want to get as good as we can as fast as we can" . In two years the Bills under Polian / Levy they turned over the entire roster and had the team in the playoffs their 3rd year, they went 11-1 while winning the AFC East division faster then any other team in the NFL had won a division. Patience is an excuse for losers!

Look at the ineptitude on this coaching staff, both offense and defense. Two of the very best RB's in the NFL In Jackson and Spiller and the Bills pass 35-40 times a game with one good WR in SJ, while running only 20 times. The Bills are ranked 4th in the NFL in rushing while letting the QB throw all game and being 26th in passing offense. Does it make sense to run more or pass more? A complete moron for a DC who never blitzed the first 10 games and played a very vanilla style rush with 4, and is the very worst DC in the history of the franchise! This current roster would be a playoff team THIS YEAR with better coaching! Say switch coaching staffs with the Texans or 49ers and its buying playoff tickets time. The Bills suck because ownership meddles, and refuses to hire top people to run his football side.
-
Clearly this statement has more validity then some fans care to realize. It is indeed the coaching staff holding this team back. C'mon guys think about it! 100 million to a FA DE, another 12 million to the other FA DE. Mostly draft picks spent on the defensive side of the ball the last 3-7 years. Draft picks 2006 DB-DT-DB-DB-DT-OT-LB-OT-G, 6 of 9 2007 RB DB-LB-QB-RB-DB-TE-DE, 4 of 7 2008 DB-WR-DE-DB-TE-LB-RB-OT-WR-DB, 5 of 9 2009 DE-C-DB-OG-TE-LB-DB-DB 2010 RB-DT-DE-WR-OT-LB-DB-QB-OT 4 of 9 2011 DT-DB-LB-DB-OT-RB-LB-DB-DT, 7 of 9 2012 DB-OT-WR-LB-DB-OT-LB-OG-K, 4 out of 9 5 of 7 years first round picks on defense. 4 of 7 years 2nd round picks on defense 17 DB's in 7 years! The Bills have been near the bottom of the NFL defensive standings in yardage that entire time, and they have been particularly bad under Gailey. So bad in fact they set both franchise and NFL records for being bad. With that kind of talent on the team how can you say its not bad coaching? For the offense, we all saw what a difference running the ball 42 times vs Fitz throwing 17 times against the Jags. That was the very first time in 3 years that the HC ran more then he threw. If only he had done that more often over the last 3 years.

This is the same GM who stated in his opening presser..."I know before I'm asked this, you're going to think I'm crazy, but we're not that far away," This was 12-31-2009. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/bills/2009-12-31-buddy-nix-general-manager_N.htm Then when the team went 0-8 in the first 8 games in 2010 Nix states "its going to take some time". Owner Ralph Wilson also made the statement of P&P Pain and Patience ... "Calling himself "a realist," Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson warned it might take as many as three years to rebuild his team, and added drafting a quarterback next year is the club's top priority." This was in Oct 11th 2010. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5674582 The BS from this Org just never ceases! This owner is perfectly content with the status quo as long as the profits keep rolling in This story is not just with the GM. If they had drafted a QB I highly doubt Gailey would have even utilized him at all considering no other QB has been able to assimilate his offense. Not to mention it took 2 seasons and 11 games this year for Gailey to realize he should be running more and passing less. Particularly because he has a sub par QB, and two super star RB's. The stupidity starts at GM, runs thru the HC he hired, and then runs thru the DC the HC hired. What a conglomeration of morons! These tools make Jauron / Levy look brilliant!

Hey Chan, don't throw this blueprint away
thewildrabbit replied to Martimus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That formula of running the ball to set up the pass and have the QB only manage the game instead of forcing him to shoulder it is currently working for several NFL teams. Ravens, Texans, 49ers. All playoff teams. The Jets used to be in this discussion. The Jets and Mark Sanchez are a classic example of how to screw up a young QB. Under OC Brian Schottenheimer the Jets were a dominate running team that made it to the AFC championship game in 2010. Just to give you an example of how they are trying to become more of a passing team and putting more pressure on the QB to win games. 2009 Jets 393 attempts passing vs 607 attempts rushing (9-7) new HC & rookie QB 2010 Jets 525 attempts passing vs 534 attempts rushing (11-5) 2011 Jets 507 attempts passing vs 443 attempts rushing (8-8) 2012 Jets 385 attempts passing vs 363 attempts rushing (5-7) Running the ball works even when your team is down 21 points or more, it controls the clock and keeps the opposing offense off the field. It also keeps your defense fresh so they don't need to do a double header game after game like the bills did in 2010-2011 and most of 2012. Last week the Bills were #7 in rushing. This week they are #4 behind only Washington, San Fran, Minnesota. They could easily be the #1 rushing team in the NFL with the dynamic pair of RB's the Bills have. This years Bills could very well be 7-5 or better at this point if they relied on the RB's more, and the QB less. How many empty backfield sets have we seen this year, which at times work and most times don't. Who are the brilliant receivers behind SJ to make up those 5 WR sets? This HC has been so determined to throw over the last 3 years that as soon as the Bills would be down by as little as 3 points Gailey would go pass happy and kill the game. Constantly throwing the ball when the entire world knows you are gonna throw it is moronic. You are throwing into dime coverages designed to stop the pass, and the opposing team just pins their ears back and blitzes. The formula for winning in the NFL was right there all along and Chan Gailey didn't care to use it until last week. The Bills just recently played the Miami Dolphins who were the #8 at stopping the run, Spiller had 22 carries for 91 yards. so the Bills can run on good defenses, they just choose not to most of the time. -
we can only dream... jw trying to ruin it tho

Hey Chan, don't throw this blueprint away
thewildrabbit replied to Martimus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marginalizing the QB touches is the point. Keeping the ball in the star RB's hands vs the almost inept QB's hands should be the primary goal every game, and should have been the goal for the last 3 years. In my view running the ball more then passing it did win that game for the Buffalo Bills. Even when they no longer have a lead they should continue to run the ball more then throwing it. Which is something that seems to elude the current HC -
Hey Chan, don't throw this blueprint away
thewildrabbit replied to Martimus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The point the OP was making is the RB's got 42 touches vs Fitz only having 17 attempts. If you hadn't noticed, Bills fans have been complaining all season long that this HC doesn't utilize his star RB's enough while having the sub par QB throw it 35-40 times a game -
To me, its unbelievable how low some fans expectations have become that the very worst DC in the history of the franchise with much more talent then his two predecessors...looks half way decent against one of the worst teams in the NFL, and fans get annoyed when others don't give him props. My take is 100 million for one FA DE and another 12 mill for the other FA DE along with Kelsay and Merriman the Bills should have the best pass rush in the NFL, 9th isn't bad ...but looking at how they play against the better teams and get man handled by them is still disconcerting to me. About the only teams the Bills D did well against had rookie QB's or bums- Chiefs (2-10) bum QB, Browns (4-8), rookie QB, Arizona(4-8),bum QB.Miami (5-7), rookie QB. Jacksonville bum QB. The Bills gave up 35 points to the Titans (4-8) at home. The Titans with the 24th ranked offense The Bills are STILL 30th against the run. Given Dave Wannstedt's resume, and the talent with all the high drafts picks spent on the defense in recent years my expectations were much higher then last in the NFL for most of the season I don't know what games you were watching but the Patriots put up 52 points in the first game and 37 points against the Bills in the second. The Texans are a running team, and had a 100 yard rusher and a 100 yard receiver and beat the Bills by 21 to 9. The Bills lost those games so not very good by my standards
-
I'll bet those KC Chief fans were excited about their "pistol" offense that Chan ran there in 08, as he made a very average QB light it up and look good in a 2-14 season. Sound familiar? Norv Turner inherited a 14-2 team with a top 5 QB on the verge of the super bowl and turned then into a 4-8 marvel, I wouldn't want him as the Bills HC either. So far Chan Gailey hasn't even duplicated moron Jauron's feeble record of 7-9. Gailey has had 2 of the best RB's in the NFL all season, and only utilized them properly in one game so far this year! The Jags game both RB's finally saw 42 touches vs 17 attempts for Fitz. Final score 34-18. You gotta remember that Gailey chose to stick with Fitz the last 3 years when he easily could have drafted and been grooming a rookie QB. Dick Jauron managed to get a 4th year so I don't see why RW won't give another moron a 4th year Those 2 buffoons (Nix & Gailey) will finally get fired when the current owner passes ....so we wait.
-
The die-hard kool-aid drinking fans will tell you they STILL have a playoff shot. NVM that they beat KC (2-10) Cleveland (4-8) Arizona (4-8) Miami (5-7) Jacksonville (2-10), and lost games to the Titans (4-8) Jets (5-7) They play St Louis (5-6-1) at home, who just beat the 49ers. Seattle (7-5) @ Toronto, and @ Miami (5-7) the Jets at home (5-7) so they very well could finish 8-8 or 9-7. Or they could easily lose out because all the teams they face have near equal records with Seattle the only one with a winning record. 5-11, 6-10. are still very possible if the HC reverts to his pass happy ways The Bills are still 2 games down on the Bengals (7-5) All Bills fans can do at this point is hope.
-
It doesn't matter, no matter who the Bills covet or really want the team picking right before the Bills will take them...QB. LB, WR
-
This could be the start of a beautiful idea for future game plans. Gailey did state about 4 games ago he needs to get his backs 40 touches. I suppose we will need to wait and see what happens the next few week. rofl So, as Bills fans do we pray for rain every game? If not better then 7-5....but then it took 12 games for Dave Wannstedt to figure out how to play defense
-
HOLY FREAKIN COW, the most profound thing I saw about the game and can say about the game is RB's 42 touches...Fitz 17 pass attempts... score 34-18 Did Gailey suddenly figure out that he can win by running the ball more and throwing less? This is a huge change up on the offensive game plans from the last 3 years.

Why you don't hope to win meaningless games:
thewildrabbit replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry Bills fans, but this is exactly what you get with a mediocre team. Jauron perfected it, and Gailey is now learning how to be mediocre. 7-9 here we come -
I truly feel horrible for Ryan Fitzpatrick.
thewildrabbit replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only person on the planet that thinks Ryan Fitzpatrick is a Tom Brady clone is Chan Gailey, and if he wants his QB to throw 30-40 times a game ... its for a reason, and not to be disputed by any lowly fans. The rest of the world looks at Ryan Fitzpatrick and sees a very average QB that shouldn't even be put in a position to throw 30-40 times a game, But hey! Megamind Chan Gailey is calling the plays and he knows whats best for the team, and how to win games. 14-28 OH YEA! These men rule, let's give them lifetime contracts!! -
I truly feel horrible for Ryan Fitzpatrick.
thewildrabbit replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Most of what the OP has to say I agree with, tho I know most of the fans on this board think Fitz is the main problem. What we have learned is Gailey is a LOSER! He doesn't know how to win and therefore can't educate Fitz how to win. Most of the time when the game is on the line and the Bills need to run the 2 min drill to win the game its not only Fitz who is clueless. A few players know what to do in that situation, but from watching the games this season most don't know how to utilize the clock, get out of bounds, win the game. 2 losers will never make a winner. Fitz has played on so many bad teams he has learned how to survive, and that's about it. One thing that has become clear to me throughout the last 3 years is Gailey is mostly clueless on players ability, and doesn't watch enough game film. He is basically the exact opposite of Bill Belichick who watches countless hours of game film and breaks down opposing teams and their players ability's. In his first year he lined up Cornell Green at RT and the man was done and should have never ever been allowed on the field. Quietly benched and released after 5 games. Gailey started CJ Spiller back in 2010 with both Lynch and Jackson slightly injured. Once the game started Spiller was benched after 5 players because he didn't know what he was doing, couldn't block, couldn't find a hole, couldn't run a route. . In the past 5 years or so its always been injuries for the big excuse why this team loses so many games every year Now most fans can clearly see its the coaches ineptitude, and stupidity that loses games. Ignorance can be fixed, stupidity can't! Chan Gailey is just plain ignorant about the defense and who to hire to run it, and I doubt this will ever change as he has had 3 years to prove different. Gailey is just plain stupid when it comes to the offense. Sure, he made minor stars out of a 7th round WR and QB. But, he has two superstar RB's and refuses to utilize them to win games. He even stated he KNOWS that both RB's should see 20 touches a game each, and even stated such, and yet can't bring himself to stop calling pass plays. Instead he calls for 5 WR empty backfield sets like he has Tom Brady behind center and Brady's receiver corps. Like he has more then one decent WR on the team. I also feel bad for Fitz to some degree because he is burdened with Gailey as his HC. It's a darn shame that Perry Fewell wasn't retained and hired to be the head coach in 2010. He would know what to do with the defense and could have hired Gailey as his OC. Fewell could have also helped with the drafting of some of the players that Nix has drafted over the last 3 years, some good, most suck. With a decent HC this team could be 7-4 and in the playoff hunt in bad AFC East. -
If you think you hate the Patriots now, listen to this...
thewildrabbit replied to bbb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whats not to hate... tho I'm not gonna quell on the super bowls won. I look at their record under Belichick 13 years, and 12 with a winning record. 16-0 2007 11-5 2008 with Matt Cassell at QB 10-6 2009 14-2 2010 13-3 2011 They will probably win the SB this year now that they found their running game again. I look at the Buffalo Bills and can only wonder if Robert Kraft is paying Ralph Wilson or perhaps the Bills coaches / GM to purposely throw games. As long as the team makes a profit every year this owner has proven he doesn't care if he wins or not! One owner wants to win above all, the other just wants the profits -
I'd rather see Marty Shottenheimer get hired. Tho Monte invented the Tampa 2, I doubt he would make good head coaching material. After reading the link it looks like he was asked to step down as his defense couldn't stop the college spread

How awesome would it be?
thewildrabbit replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NFN, but Fitz wasn't quite this bad in past years! My take is the new QB coach is screwing with his technique and mechanics, as this is the first year anyone has tried to work with Fitz. The old saying ":you can't teach an old dog new tricks" has some merit. When you have a QB that has been around as long as Fitz, it has to be supremely difficult to try and teach a QB new ways of doing things. drafted in 2005-2012 It may take a few years to develop Fitz properly, and he may never change his ways. Just look at Tim Tebow who has been trying to change his mechanics since entering the league and hasn't gotten it done yet. Not to mention opposing teams have gotten enough film of Gaileys quick short passing scheme, and have learned how to defeat it. Yet Gailey keeps calling 5 WR empty backfield sets, and forcing the QB to try and win it all, instead of relying more on his two superstar RB's. The entire world population of almost 7 billion know Fitz is an average QB, everyone except Chan Gailey that is.... -
2014 year of the quarterback?
thewildrabbit replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Keyrist!, if we need to endure another year of Buddy 'Mr ineptitude's Nix's draft and free agency. Mr. "I'm going to get some sleep" as the 2010 free agency period opens and he brings in Cornell Green. 112 million dollars for invisible pass rushers. players like Aaron Williams, Kelvin Sheppard, Torell Troup et al in the draft Another year of Mr pass happy empty backfield 5 WR play calls, putting his faith in a perennial back up QB, who can't seem to hit wide open receivers to save his life. Another year of the very worst DC this franchise has ever seen Jebus, I can only hope and pray that good ole boy Buddy Nix and his conglomeration of buffoons has long since departed the Buffalo Bills before 2014. Just thinking that this owner would keep this entourage of morons past this year makes me yearn for the Mayans to be right about Dec 21st, 2012...jk -
How awesome would it be?
thewildrabbit replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitz is on par with Alex Smith, as he was a foregone conclusion before Jim Harbaugh arrived in SF, they couldn't trade him to anybody, and he was stinking it up worse then Fitz. The right offense can make any QB look good as it did for Smith. Harbaugh needs to know if Kaepernick can keep winning, plus he is much more versatile with his mobility. Look at what a difference the right head coach and the right assistants he hires can make vs an inept staff like the Buffalo Bills have. All it would take at this point is to hire the right GM & HC
