  1. Polian & son heading to KC I think. To be honest I have to question Bill and son as top talent evaluators looking at the last few drafts at Indy under them. My take is that John Butler who was Bills director of player personnel, and then Bills GM until RW fired him was the man behind all that talent in Buffalo. I also think he was the one responsible for all that talent in SD as AJ Smith and Buddy Nix both look like tools now. I'd rather see someone like Atlanta Falcon GM Thomas Dimitroff be named Buffalo Bills president of football operations and let him hire the next GM / HC.
  2. Perhaps once ownership of this team changes hands. It sucks that the current owner is what he is, 50 years of this
  3. Nobody plays at 100% this time of the season. Thurman Thomas played on bad ankles his entire career. Injuries are part of the game. The great ones play thru the pain and injuries when they can. Of course the players want to keep their boss as he has faith in them for them to be starting. What the players don't realize is what its like to play for a winning coach. Look who the Bills have had the last 7 years as HC's, 2 buffoons
  4. Does it really matter? if Buddy Nix is still doing the drafting the Bills could have the first overall pick and still screw it up. A DB or RB no doubt...
  5. First, Jon Gruden has already stated it would take more then just a boatload of money to pry him away from his ESPN announcing MNF gig. It would take a perfect set of circumstances to lure Gruden away from his cushy once a week job. Right city, right players, right QB. right owner. Buffalo offers none of those. Second, Gruden kept looking for that elusive "elite" QB at Tampa and never found him. So Gruden is just as clueless as most are when it comes to evaluating QB talent. Which makes me wonder if the man is any good at evaluating player talent at any position on the team. Third, If you think Chan Gailey is a defensive moron who doesn't know what scheme to run or what assistant DC to hire....you are right, he IS! But then so is Gruden. Once noted DC Monte Kiffin (inventor of the Tampa 2) left the Bucs Gruden fielded one of the worst defenses ever. Hiring Gruden as the next Buffalo Bills head coach would be overly expensive and a waste of another 3 years. Unless Gruden hired the proper supporting assistants AND someone in the Buffalo Bills scouting dept suddenly grew a brain JMO.
  6. After that season opening game against the Jets I simply couldn't see how so many fans could keep such high expectations for the season. Granted many expected the defense to be in the top ten with a notable change back to the 4-3 and the 100 million dollar DE FA,and another 12 million dollar DE FA. It was the new DC and defense that really let the team down this season IMO! Nobody, and I mean nobody foresaw the Bills defense being worse under Wannstedt then it was under Edwards, not with the addition of Super Mario! Edwards was only franchise bad, Wannstedt set both franchise AND NFL records for being bad. Plus, he had better talent on defense then the team has seen the last decade. Just unbelievable. Buffalo Bills fans "eternal optimism"....its what has kept Ralph Wilson rolling in dough the last 12 years.
  7. I can recall when Robert Irsay finally passed. That team changed so much and finally became a winner
  8. Shooting Mammals in a barrel...with a BB gun. The Mammals have AK's
  9. Gotta remember the Bills didn't score an offensive TD in the first game either, it was all FG's and a TD return by McKelvin
  10. Naa, I'm not cheering for them to be bad. I just know this years Bills defense can't tackle, are easily fooled, are so vanilla its just sad. Although, watching Fitz try and make a play at the end of the half is sorta comical
  11. Better at what, losing? Both are morons! Gailey is better...at losing! Jauron's problem was he was afraid to hire a decent OC to run his offense. He didn't hesitate to hire a good NFL experienced D line coach when his assistant coach left for a better job. Plus, he had Perry Fewell as his DC who was a very good NFL experienced assistant coach on the defensive side. But, after OC Steve Failrchild left for a HCing job in college Jauron promoted a QB coach to OC that should have never been given that job. Turk Schonert was a joke for an OC as all he did was call shotgun pass plays like Gailey. He never once used play action until halfway thru the season. Then after firing Schonert two weeks before the 2009 season started, Jauron does it again, as he promotes QB coach AVP to OC, and the result was another failure on offense. Not to mention Jauron traded away LT Jason Peters and then never replaced that LT position in the draft. Then cutting his starting LG and RT right before the start of the season and he didn't have adequate backup players to fill in. Jauron did have a really good 2009 draft if you consider #1 pick C Eric Wood, #2 pick G Andy Levitre and #2 pick DB Jairus Byrd. A darn shame everyone defines that draft with the failure of LB Aaron Maybin to DE. If only Jauron took LB Brian Orakpo-LB Brian Cushing- LB Clay Matthews. Anyone but Maybin. As bad as Jauron was about the offense, clearly Chan Gailey is even worse with the defense. Gailey's first choice for DC (George Edwards) set new franchise records for being bad. Worst against the run in the 50 year history of the franchise. So after two painful years of a new 3-4 the Bills hired what was supposed to be a defensive guru. Instead they got a defensive poo poo. Dave Wannstedt has set NFL records for being bad. The very first ever defense in the entire history of the NFL to allow 300 yards passing and 300 yards rushing in a game. The team is about to make history again as the season ends. Most points ever allowed by a buffalo defense, and the second most yards allowed. Thanks for nothing Dave..you ! Think about how much talent the Bills had this year on defense.Jauron never had it as good. A 100 million dollar FA DE. All those draft picks spent on the defense the last few years, and STILL terribad. Its almost shameful to be a Buffalo Bills fan nowadays.
  12. Gailey doesn't use Spiller and Jackson more often because he is a blatant idiot! The man himself even stated that both Spiller and Jackson should get 40 touches a game between the two of them, and yet Gailey can't stop calling for passing plays. The world knows is Fitz is a very average QB at best, and yet Gailey is always calling for more passes then runs because he simply refuses to change his ways. Lets look at one particular game this year. The Bills played the Jags at home on a rainy day, Gailey called a near perfect game against the Jaguars. The only thing wrong was Gailey was a victim of circumstance as both starting WR's left the game with injuries. Both Stevie Johnson (hamstring) and Donald Jones (calf) and also C Eric Wood was injured(knee). Losing both starting WR's probably caused Gailey to call more runs this game. The result was a win. Final score 34-18 with the bills QB, 9 of 17 for 112 yards 2TD's one INT. The RB's Fred Jackson 25 attempts for 109 yards. Spiller 14 attempts for 77 yards. FJ receiving 2 rec for 10 yards-Spiller rec 1 rec 7 yards= 42 touches for the RBs. Now, everyone will spout that the Jags have a worse defense then the Bills. I say so what! The Bills won this game because the QB was limited in his attempts and the RB's got 40+ touches. Has Gailey even tried this against other teams ? Answer...NO! I get a kick how some of you homers that are still defending this head coach. 15-31 How bad does it need to get before you say enough?
  13. I'm hoping that when the Buffalo Bills draft next April the current GM Buddy Nix is months into his retirement....along with his moronic choices for HC & DC. I'll wait until after the combine and listen to what Mike Mayock states before I chime in on who the Bills might draft. If the 3 stooges are still with the team it really won't matter who the Bills draft next year.
  14. This is exactly the same mentality that has kept Buddy Nix from drafting a QB the last 3 years. Because in his mind there was no"super duper, "elite" franchise player that fell to the buffalo Bills.Mike Shanahan went out and created his teams destiny without having a QB FALL to him. The 49ers had a former #1 overall QB playing well for them in Alex Smith and yet still took Collin Kaepernick with a 2nd round pick. The Seattle Seahawks went and traded for QB Matt Flynn and then drafted a QB in the 3rd round last year. Everyone said Russell Wilson was to short to be a winner, so he didn't fit Buddy Nix's idea of an "elite" QB. The Cincy Bengals took Andy Dalton in the 2nd round and he was another QB not graded as 'elite" So, while the imbecile Buddy Nix and his scout staff of buffoons are waiting for that "elite" QB to fall to them in the draft. Other teams are taking a chance and winning with less then elite QB's as the Seahawks, Bengals, and 49ers are all in the playoffs with non elite QB's
  15. Shanahan gave up the farm for RG3 because he had conviction in what he saw from a college player. Chan Gailey is a moron of the greatest magnitude. Remember this man spent his first off season in Buffalo allowing Brian Brohm, Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick to compete for the starting QB job. Gailey stating that all three QB's were about equal. Then Gailey chose Trent Edwards as his starter and give him all the pre season starting QB reps. Meanwhile, Fitz had to share back up QB reps with Brian Brohm (who really sucked). Then Gailey cut Edwards after two regular season games. This is the primary reason the Bills went 0-8 and fell on their face in 2010 finishing at 4-12. Fitz wasn't anywhere near ready to take over the starting QB job in 2010 and literally ran for his life the first half of that season. What I learned from that whole scenario is that Gailey wouldn't know the difference between a great QB and poor QB even the great one came up and bit him in the ass. Gailey has had 8 QB's and the only one able to run his offense so far is Fitz. Brian Brohm, Trent Edwards, Levi Brown, Brad Smith, Vince Young, Tyler Thigpen, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tavaris Jackson. Recall what Ryan Fitzpatrick stated after the Bills hired David Lee their new QB coach this off season? He stated that this is the first time in his career that anyone has tried to work with him on his mechanics or technique. So Gailey didn't do anything to improve Fitz, all that jackass does is call plays. I wouldn't trust Chan Gailey to walk my dog, much less coach a new rookie QB
  16. Hey, you brought it up in the first place. I dunno why you don't like the guy and don't really care. Just consider that Williams was a 5th round draft pick, and he is out playing a 1st rounder, the #3 overall next to him. He grades out by many as about the only elite player on that Buffalo Bills defense besides super Mario, who was the #1 overall pick in the draft. After reading about how uninspiring Dave and his basket are I can only admire Kyle Williams even more. Most Bills fans love the guy for good reason as he is the classic lunch pail, never stops coming, never gives up on a play type of guy. I only want the Bills defense to have another 10 guys just like him and they would be unbeatable. Even Wannstooge couldn't screw up a defense filled with Kyle Williams type players
  17. First of all, a lot more then just Bills fans feel KW is a very good player or he wouldn't get all the pro bowl votes he gets. As to your point about not being that good because he is the best player on a bad defense is exactly what makes him such a good player. Do you realize how difficult it is to make it to the pro bowl when the players around him are sub par or at best average? Very self motivated, and an overachiever despite playing on bad teams year after year, along with bad to very bad coaching. Williams would be even better and in the pro bowl every year with a better surrounding cast or on a team such as the 49ers. Yea, he is that good.
  18. Kyle Williams is the best player on that Buffalo Bills defense IMO, and that's over the 100 million dollar DE! The guy is a "manster" and his motor just never stops! The Bills are on pace to give up a franchise record for most points allowed and the second-most yards allowed in team history.' http://buffalonews.c...ills-drive-1082 I suppose most fans have forgotten that 45-3 loss to the 49ers, you know the one where now back up 49er QB Alex Smith threw for over 300 yards! Smith threw for a season-high 303 yards and three touchdowns, Frank Gore ran for 106 yards and a score, and the 49ers amassed a franchise-record 621 yards in blowing by the Buffalo Bills 45-3 on Sunday. San Francisco also became the first team in NFL history with 300 yards passing and 300 yards rushing. The Bills became the first team to give up at least 550 yards in consecutive games in the same season since the 1950 New York Yanks. "I have no answers and no excuses," beleaguered Bills coach Chan Gailey said. "I don't have the answers and I have to find the answers. That's my job." http://www.cbssports...20121007_BUF@SF Holy crap, Wannstooge isn't only worse then former DC George Edwards under Gailey. Edwards only set Buffalo Bills franchise records for the worst defense against the run in the 50 year history of the franchise. Dave Wannstooge is historically worse by setting new NFL records for being bad.
  19. Jebus, Dave Wannstedt for HC? Someone who was worse at coaching then Chan Gailey 41-57 in Chicago as HC, one post season appearance in 6 years 42-31 in Miami as HC, after taking over from Jimmy Johnson who built a playoff team in Miami. but then the team fell apart in his last year there going 1-8, and he quit the team. "Dave Wannstedt seemed like the ideal coordinator to direct the Buffalo Bills' new-look 4-3 defense. Instead, he has become just another symbol of failure for the downtrodden AFC East club. What's been most alarming is how soft Wannstedt's group has been against the run. It defies belief that a front featuring defensive tackles Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams, can be 31st in rushing defense." "Wannstedt has also failed to coax big production from prized free agent Mario Williams. With the 3-5 Bills likely to again miss the playoffs, expect Wannstedt to be canned along with head coach Chan Gailey." http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1401031-dave-wannstedt-and-4-nfl-coordinators-who-are-losing-their-jobs-this-season Read how Jason Cole feels about Dave Wannstooge, http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2012/10/31/3580436/buffalo-bills-dave-wannstedt-jason-cole-yahoo "He stands up in front of the team in a pre-season, and he has a basket - like a trash basket - and then he's got four things. He's got a Bible, a family picture, a football and a brick, and he shows how if you keep everything in order, and keep your priorities right, the picture, the football and the Bible will all fit quite nicely in the basket. But if you add the brick - which he called 'distraction' - it won't fit. "The only problem was that as he did it, he took everything out of the basket, and then he tried to put it back in. This was the football, the Bible and the picture - he tried to put them all back in, but he couldn't remember the way that they went back in. So he was fumbling around, and then the basket fell over in the middle of all of this. It began just sort of a comedy session. "When he put the basket back in the locker room later in the week, the players were so frustrated with him that they took the stuff and threw it in the trash can."
  20. The truth emerges as the vote for actual "continuity" falls into the dust bin. The real reason you are so amendment about keeping the same regime intact is because you are terrified of losing the Buffalo Bills to a different city. First, there are dozens of prospective GM's / HC's out there that could do much better then 6-10 / 7-9, and with a real president of the team in place they would easily find better people then Nix / Gailey. Thomas Dimitroff for example would make an excellent president of football operations. I have no doubts at all that Dimitroff would work his magic in Buffalo just like he did in New England and Atlanta. A young, brilliant football mind, who learned under the very best in the game. http://www.atlantafalcons.com/team/staff/Thomas-Dimitroff/5de3ec5a-4fb3-4766-aa9a-3907a563b09c Second, I highly doubt that this owner would move the team out of the Buffalo area if ticket sales fell. The man has had 50+ years of chances to move and much better opportunities and during better times to make such a move. Ralph Wilson wouldn't move the team at this point in time. Instead he would most likely do what he did back in the late 70's, and that is hire a top winning HC. Like Bill Cowher or Andy Reid. Third, why so worried about the team moving? This owner is such a PoCrap that he refuses to sell now to keep the team in Buffalo, refuses to setup a plan will force the new owner to keep the team in Western NY. So when he dies Bills fans are probably screwed anyway. ""But you've long refused to make arrangements for the team to stay in Buffalo after your passing. If the team leaves, which now seems likely, you'll be the only person to blame. And all the great things you've done will be meaningless. You won't be spoken of as a revered founding figure, a man who put others above himself. No, you will be remembered as a man for whom $800 million wasn't enough. Does your family really need a billion? Will it make a significant difference in their life? Probably not. But Western New Yorkers will have lost something worth more than money. We have supported the team, and you, for the past 52 years. We've bought tickets and merchandise, cheered for the team when it won and still supported it when it lost. Without the support of the community, there would be no Buffalo Bills. The Bills and Western New York go hand in hand. You have a great opportunity. Sign a long-term, unbreakable lease on the stadium. Keep the Bills here permanently. "" http://www.buffalorising.com/2012/11/ralph-wilson-secure-your-legacy.html Ralph Wilson refuses to setup a legacy and the team will be sold to the highest bidder, who could move the team to Los Angles, London or elsewhere. So why support a blatant piece of like this? Fourth, if the team does leave WNY, then why wouldn't the NFL give Buffalo a new franchise with a new owner? Jeez, the chance to finally have an owner that actually wants to win games instead of just making a profit! An owner that isn't afraid to spend money on a top GM, President, or head coach.
  21. What most of Bills fans fail to realize is once a great HC is hired everything changes !! The difference is, Chan Gailey is someone who has experience as an NFL head coach and can go through all the procedures of building a semblance of a team, and yet its half-assed once he is done. What kind of coach marries himself to a broken QB for 3 years. Fitz has never been a winner in any aspect of his career. I mean once you realize Fitz isn't going to get it done (last half of 2011) its time to move on. Don't get me wrong I like Fitz, but this HC just can't figure out how to utilize him to win games. The 4-3 to a 3-4 and then back to a 4-3 and 100 million on a DE, so many draft choices used on the defensive side and its still a bad defense.Hiring the wrong men to run the defense shows major ineptitude in selecting proper assistants. Don't be afraid of change! Don't be sacred to make a change once you realize that you have the wrong man for the job. Its better to cut your losses and start over to find the right man then it is to keep dealing with idiots. A great HC doesn't make stupid and foolish mistakes year after year. He knows what assistants to hire and what schemes to run that best suit his personnel. He knows player talent, knows how to utilize the players he has. All head coaches are not all created equal. Some, like Bill Belichick, who knows and understands every single aspect of the NFL game. Every position on both sides of the ball. He knows the difference between a decent assistant and how to create a great one. He knows and understands player talent at every level, and at every position. The man is so thorough in every detail. He watches endless hours of game film on players and opposing teams. Not every head coach is a Bill Walsh or Bill Belichick, and it takes time to figure out what type of coach you hired as many have been around the NFL long enough so they can do the "coach speak". They can walk the walk, and talk the talk like a decent HC, but don't really have a clue how to build a winning program. Even if that oblong spheroid bounces perfectly every game all season long for Chan Gailey he still wouldn't win because he doesn't know what he is doing! He doesn't know anything about the defense. He doesn't know best how to utilize his offensive players to win games. This has been evident by his schemes and play calling the last 3 years. The man might be well meaning, and have really good intentions. But we all know the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and they don't win football games.
  22. First of all, NFN means "Not for nothing" I get that you love the Bills. i get that you love to go to games and tailgate with friends. I get that you go to the games and have your season seats with all the friends around you. I did the same thing for many years during the late 80's and early 90's I had season tickets in the same seats from 1988-1994. I saw many many home games won by the Buffalo Bills, went to 4 super bowls, 5 AFC championship games, playoff games in Miami, Cleveland and Cincinnati. I know what its like to be part of the party atmosphere that surrounds an NFL game, and playoff games, yea, its it was fun. But the stark reality is, it sucks to spend money on a bad product. If I were a billionaire I still wouldn't waste my money on Bills season tickets to support a bad product. The tickets and merchandise could be nearly free and I would avoid it on principle. Look at the history of the franchise. This owner will never cave in to hiring a top coach as along as his stadium is filled. A simple fact, but sadly true. The Bills have gotten so bad lately that I no longer even watch the games anymore. Its not worth the frustration and anguish that goes with all the losing. I hate losing! I now watch some college ball and other NFL games. My son now has season seats, and every year I try and convince him that he is wasting his money, although to no avail. I would like to attend games again with my son and family, I just refuse to support a crap team.
  23. No offense, but that has to be the most ridiculous excuse I've ever read in this forum. No decent GM / HC tanks their first season on purpose. They sucked because of their overall stupidity and moronic hires and moves. Remember Buddy Nix's first presser? Where Nix made the statement "I know before I'm asked this, you're going to think I'm crazy, but we're not that far away." He made that statement thinking he had hired the right head coach. He evaluated the roster and thought he could win with the players they already had. Examples: The FA RT Cornell Green accusation was outright stupidity. thinking that a player who had hit the wall was going to lock down that position. Trusting in Chan Gailey to evaluate players properly was another of Nix's mistakes. Then they had no viable backup RT, 3 stupid moves Switching to a 3-4 from a 4-3 was outright stupidity considering Nix would start to draft defensive players to for his new 3-4 and then crap canned the 3-4. FA LB Reggie Tobor & FA LB Aikin Ayodele, Then Chan Gailey hires George Edwards to run his new 3-4 defense and kept him for 2 years, 4 stupid moves, and more stupid moves in that first draft. Drafting CJ Spiller at RB when the team already had RB Marshawn Lynch and needed a LT-RT-pass rusher and a decent set of LBers was a totally stupid move. Chan Gailey naming and supporting Trent Edwards as his starting QB entering the 2010 pre season. meanwhile giving Edwards the majority of the reps in pre season and splitting the rest of reps between Brian Brohm and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Then cutting Edwards after 2 regular season games and starting Fitz when he wasn't prepared at all to become the starting QB in a new offensive scheme was the biggest reason for going 0-8. 3 stupid moves Naming CJ Spiller starting RB for the opening game in 2010 when Jackson (hand in a cast) and Lynch (knee sprain)were slightly injured. That starting job lasted 5 offensive plays until Gailey saw that Spiller couldn't block for protections, couldn't find a hole, couldn't run the pass routes, and was Spiller was promptly benched! Jackson went into the game and caught a pass with a cast on his hand! Big stupid move! Your point about tanking that first season might have some relevance if these two morons didn't keep making mistakes and stupid moves year after year. 15-30 sucks moose dangle
  24. Horsepoop...these are all common misconceptions by most fans. Let me ask some questions here. How many players on the roster were changed from 2009-2010 in Buddy and Chans first off season / year? Allow me to answer because you are so misinformed. The Bills changed around 8 players from 09-10 and 2 starters Offense: Starting QB 2009 Ryan Fitzpatrick- 2010 Ryan Fitzpatrick...brought in under Jauron / Levy. Gailey gave all pre season reps to Trent Edwards only to cut him after 2 games. Big reason why the team went 0-8, 4-12 Starting RB 2009 Fred Jackson - 2010 same...brought in under Jauron / Levy Starting WR 2009 Lee Evans -2010 same ...brough in under Donahoe / Mularkey Starting WR 2009 Terrell Owens**- 2010 Stevie Johnson ...brought in under Jauron / Levy Starting TE 2009 Shawn Nelson- 2010 David Martin ...Buddy Nix...very little impact player 7 catches for 43 yards Starting FB 2009 Corey McIntyre- 2010 same...brought in under Jauron / Levy Starting LT 2998 Demetress Bell- 2010-same...brought in under Jauron / Levy Starting LG 2009 Andy Levitre-2010-same....Brought in under Jauron / Levy Starting C 2009 Geoff Hangartner-2010-same...brought in under Jauron / Levy Starting RT 2009 Eric Wood-2010-same...brought in under Jauron / Levy Starting RT 2009 Kirk Chambers-2010 Cornell Green 2 mill dollar FA, Buddy Nix (cut after 5 games) Mansfield Wrotto ...very little impact. Erik Pears brought in halfway thru the season as a waiver wire pickup. Still starting RT was a clusterfuk in 2010 and a very strong reason the team started 0-8 and finished 4-12. Buddy Nix really screwed up this position. Defense: switched from 4-3 to 3-4 LDE 2009 Chris Kelsay- Marcus Stroud 2010 ...both brought in under Jauron Levy LDT 2009 Marcus Stroud...brought in under Jauron / Levy ............................................NT 2010 Kyle Williams Brought in under Jauron / levy RDT 2009 Kyle Williams...brought in under Jauron / Levy RDE 2009 Aaron Schobel - 2010 Dwan Edwards** Both here under Jauron / levy LLB Keith Ellison 2009 Jauron / levy MLB Paul Posluszny 2009 Jauron / Levy RLB Kawika Mitchel 2009 Jauron / Levy LOLB Chris Kelsay already here LILB Aikin Ayodele 2010 FA Buddy Nix...where is this scrub now? RILB Paul Posluszny already here ROLB Reggie Tobor 2010 FA Buddy Nix ...where is this scrub now? LCB Terrance McGee... 2010 Leodis McKelvin both brought in under Jauron / Levy RCB Drayton Florance...2010 same Jauron / Levy SS George Wilson...2010 Donte Whitner both brought in under Jauron / levy FS Jairus Byrd 2010 same brought in under Jauron / levy K same P same KR 2009 Fred Jackson-2010 CJ Spiller PR 2009 Roscoe Parrish - 2010 CJ Spiller Players changed in 2010 TE David Martin RT Cornell Green- Mansfield Wrotto- Erik Pears LILB Aikin Ayodele ROLB Reggie Tobor KR CJ Spiller In 2010 the the Bills were absolutely desperate for help at several positions. ROT & LOT, DE & LB pass rusher (because Aaron Schoble retired) / run stoppers, all most notable, and Buddy Nix missed on all those positions. It took 3 years to finally draft a LT, 3 years and 100 million dollars to finally find a pass rushing DE. After 3 years the Bills STILL don't have a franchise QB on the roster, and they haven't even tried to draft one The Bills STILL have no depth at many positions, and still lack talent at many positions. Bottom Line, Buddy Nix was a disaster as GM. His choice for HC was a disaster, the HC's choice for DC's in George Edwards and Dave Wannstedt were the biggest disasters of all
