  1. Amen, It would be so much worse in other cities. I don't feel bad for the man at all as he was paid millions to do a job that very few people on this earth get a chance to do. Three years is more chance then many NFL coaches get to show what they can do.
  2. I think Gailey will be defined more by his choice of defensive coordinators rather then his QB. People will look back at the stats and say 3000 yards passing and 1000 yard rushers, pretty good. OTOH, His defenses setting both franchise and NFL records for being bad is what killed his teams the last 2 years
  3. Man thats a sad statement, but probably true Thats with JP Losman & Trent Edwards, and Turk Schonert calling plays...wow just wow. Gailey sucks. I knew the players loved Jauron, and played their hearts out for him. Jauron' D line is better now IMO The O line in 2007-2008 was better save the center position. Then Jauron scuttled the O line in 2009 cutting Dockery, Walker, and trading away Peters s failings were the schemes he ran and lack of an experienced OC.
  4. He is a Buffalo native, so he must be great! Seriously, I look at the Atlanta Falcons and think GM Thomas Dimitroff 100%, This man went after Julio Jones and gave up quite a bit for him, 5 draft picks and the results have been well worth it IMO Elected to the pro bowl this year The Falcons are 13-2 this season
  5. Its only insanity if you keep making the wrong choices... Ralph Wilson stated he wanted a head coach with NFL experience, and Buddy Nix was given that option to find one. The thing is, the Bills stealth interviewed both Bill Cowher and Mike Shanahan before Nix was hired. Now I understand why Shanahan turned down the Bills job because he had a prior commitment with the Redskins, but was willing to listen to other offers. Nobody ever said what happened with Bill Cowher tho I can only suspect that Cowher was dealing with family issues at that point in time, his girls were still in college. His wife passed in July 2010 and all his girls are now out of college. I suspect that if Ralph Wilson offered Cowher the HCing job and complete autonomy over the football side of operations along with making him the highest paid HC in the NFL. It would then be enough to being the "chin" out of retirement. Shanahan and Belichick both make around 7mill per, Jeff Fisher makes 5.75. Andy Reid makes 5.5. Pete Carroll 33 mill over 5 years and complete control over the football operations. Cowher should make 8 mill per. If Super Mario is just a DE and got 100 mill, then the next Bills HC should be the highest paid HC, and an ex SB winner. Cowher-Gruden-Billick Stop screwing around Ralph, hire the best and win a SB. Your fans have been faithful for so long, they deserve a SB championship. http://www.forbes.com/2011/01/04/patriots-redskins-seahawks-business-sports-nfl-highest-paid-coaches.html
  6. You vastly underestimate Chan Gaileys stubbornness to change. This is the same man who married a broken QB the last 3 years, and hasn't even asked to draft a rookie to groom, and refuses to allow any QB controversy by having a decent backup QB. Furthermore, I don't even know why I'm addressing this post because you suggested the most ridiculous move ever by making Dave Wannstedt head coach. Why, because he brings some semblance of continuity to the team? while forgetting that this man is by far the very worst defensive coordinator the Bills have ever hired. Wannstedt took more talent and did less with it then any other DC in the history of the franchise. If the Bills make only one change in coaching this off season it should be FIRING Dave Wannstooge, and hiring a top DC to run their 4-3. A top 10 defense and this team wins at the very least 3 more games this year, perhaps more.
  7. I was questioning the moves made by Nix / Gailey after their first off season, pre season, 4-12 regular season. So many miscues with schemes, player personnel in free agency, the draft,,and particularly in talent evaluation. I wanted those two morons gone after their first year. After Buddy Nix made the statement midway thru this season that Gailey is his HC for 2013, and perhaps another year we fans came to find out that in all probability both Nix & Gailey signed a 5 year contracts We fans also know how frugal this owner can be when it comes to paying for a top coach. After Wilson fired Jauron he needed to keep paying him and Gailey both because he had just signed him to an extension. I look at Buddy Nix and he must tremendous influence over this owner to be able to talk him into 5 year deals, and giving Mario Williams 100 million dollars. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/11/03/buddy-nix-says-chan-gailey-will-definitely-coach-the-bills-in-2013/ Ralph Wilson must have thought he was getting the brains behind the scenes that help build the Buffalo Bills from 1993 to 2000. Then Nix went with John Butler to San Diego and helped build that fantastic best in the NFL roster with LT. John Butler passed away in 2003, and yet the Chargers had 3 players Nix drafted to the pro bowl in 2005. 6 players drafted went to the pro bowl in 2006. 11 players on the Chargers in the pro bowl in 2007, 8 players elected to the pro bowl in 2008. The Chargers won four out of the last five AFC West titles with Nix as Assistant GM and Director of Player Personnel, in charge of college scouting and instrumental to the decision making of their drafts. But I look at the Buffalo Bills last 3 drafts and they are way worse then Jauron / Levy every year except for one lone player that Chan Gailey had his eye on since playing against him while the HC at Georgia Tech, CJ SPiller. SOOOOO, If not Buddy Nix then who? AJ Smith has proved he sucks as a GM and talent evaluator since Buddy Nix left the Chargers. Is the problem with Buffalo Bills scouts, and scouting dept? I know Buddy Nix fired Tom Modrak in 2011 and the entire Bills fan base cheered that move. I know it endeared him with me despite all the bad moves up till then because we could blame them on Modrak. 2010 and the 2011 drafts sucked big for the Bills. 2012 was better. But still, no where near those spectacular Charger drafts. No QB in the last 3 years when other teams have chosen QB's and made the playoffs Chan Gailey married QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buddy Nix married Chan Gailey, Ralph Wilson married to Buddy Nix. The worst part of Chan Gailey has been his choices for defensive coordinator over the last 3 years. We fans KNOW that Nix, Gailey, Wannstedt should be fired after this season ends. That a top president, GM, HC should be the highest priority in order to win games and sell more season tickets. This franchise is desperate for someone who knows talent in player personnel, talent in coaches, talent in assistant coaches. The people currently in charge showed the world they don't know! I know most of you will hate this statement, but I can see Ralph Wilson being loyal to Buddy Nix for one more season. After all, he gave Jauron more then 3 years.
  8. The fans who buy season tickets gotta make a stand or this owner will keep hiring crap coaches and GM's. Wilson knows who to hire, he just refuses to hire the best unless he is forced to spend more money then he wants to spend. The problem appears to be that so many fans just attend games to party with their friends and don't care if the team wins or not. A grateful owner laughs all the way to the bank...smiling, while thinking to himself, drunken idiots
  9. http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft Click McShay's board At this point I'd rather see Tyler Bray in a Bills uni rather then any other QB. BUT, only if the current coaches are gone.
  10. It all comes down to the HC putting his players in position to make plays and utilizing them to the best of their abilities. Two things scream at me about this years Buffalo Bills team... First, is the defense that was supposed to be much improved under a known experienced DC. Instead, it tanked most of the season setting new NFL records for being bad. Wannstedt wrong choice for DC by a zillion miles. Second, the offense and how Chan utilized the QB vs the RB's, only once this entire season did the RB's ever see 40 touches (Spiller / Jackson) and that was against the Jags. Fitz got 17 pass attempts. CJ Spiller just not utilized enough during the games. The man should have never left the field on offense unless he needed a breather. As dynamic a player as I've ever seen, he could have set new rushing / receiving records for the Bills. Chan Gailey calls way to many pass plays for a broken QB and not enough run plays. Lastly, watching the offense attempt to run the two min drill at any point in the game was almost comical, Fitz was clueless as were most receivers. The goal is to drive down the field and score while preserving the clock. Against the Dolphins it took the bills almost 4:40 to do that in their last series. Even if they had managed to score they wouldn't have had enough time left to do anything. Considering it took so long to get down the field. Nobody runs out of bounds, nobody runs a route near the sideline. A QB with as much game experience as Fitz has should be well schooled in the 2 min drill, instead he is worse then any rookie QB I've ever watched. The Titans game Fitz had 4 shotgun attempts and couldn't even make a first down against that crappy Titans defense. This comes down to coaching ineptitude, offense, defense, special teams. Gailey, Wannstooge, and the man that hired them both all gotta go.
  11. ... exactly, although I don't really see how Kelly can help sell Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey to fans who already know they are both losers. That is, if RW stays with the status quo. Lets hope that this move is being made to ensure that the Bills are kept in WNY, if so then RW will be beloved forever in the fans eyes. This owner just keeps making the wrong choices over and over. Marv Levy as GM? Buddy Nix as GM? Tom Donahoe as President after he lost a power struggle in Pittsburgh with Bill Cowher? I just don't get why this owner keeps picking people not already excelling in their jobs and then promoting them to jobs they have never done. Isn't this the exact opposite of what a great corporation would do to improve their top tier management? Find someone who excels at their job as GM and then promote them to president would seem to me to be the correct solution. Thomas Dimitroff anyone?
  12. Spiller was snubbed because the HC is a jerk and wouldn't use him enough. Better to have the 17th ranked QB throw to the 27th ranked passing offense then the #4 rushhing offense run the ball. One more reason why this moron of a HC should have been canned during the season. Both him and his choice for DC in dave WannSTOOGE
  13. According to John Clayton of ESPN, he thinks its a better then 50% chance the Bills keep Gailey as HC. "In the AFC East, disappointing seasons by Rex Ryan with the New York Jets and Chan Gailey of the Buffalo Bills could cost them their jobs, but there is better than 50 percent chance they will stay." http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8777409/nfl-tis-season-coaching-changes Lets not forget that Buddy Nix stated Chan is his HC for 2013 and perhaps longer, so if Nix stays, then so does Chan. All these posts speculating who the new HC or GM might be could be moot unless Ralph Wilson makes a decision after the NY Jets game. The fans that want change need to make a statement and stay away from this game or wear paper bags Let Ralph Wilson know you are NOT happy and will not be buying season tickets unless changes are made. If Chan Gailey and Buddy Nix signed 5 year contracts it could be difficult for this owner to make a change after this season! 2 more years of this .... PS TT tweet about "its on like a mofo" might be about something other then a HC / GM change.
  14. I would love to see the 'chin" coaching the Buffalo Bills next year. Let Cowher decide who he wants as GM, DC, director of scouting. Nix, Gailey & wannstooge- Boss hog crap, cooter, booger all gotta go.
  15. Holy freaking cow....I stopped reading after that bolded and enlarged sentence. Man 0 man, there are just so many things i would like to say to the OP, and this post. But considering I already have 2 warnings, I'll refrain. While I agree with the fire Chan part, why on earth would the team want to promote someone who took a more talented defense then Jauron or George Edwards ever had and yet they played so much worse. Its also a running joke about how bad Dave Wannstedt has been this season and his inability to motivate his players. The players routinely miss tackles, miss their gaps, make mistakes, allow big plays. Plus, by the last game this season the defense should set a franchise record for most points allowed, second in yards allowed. They already broke NFL record in the 92+ year history of the NFL the very first team to allow a 300 yard passer and 300 yards rushing to the 49ers in their 45-3 blowout loss. Sorry Mrs Wannstedt, your husband sucks, and should be banned from coaching in the NFL.
  16. Ya know what. Back at the start of 1980 I looked at the schedule, and said my lord, the Bills won't win 5 games this year. They ended up in the playoffs because Chuck Knox came in 2 years earlier and changed the entire mentality of the team. A different HC that knows how to win and everything changes...remember that!
  17. On the contrary Bill Cowher and Mike Shanahan both interviewed for the HCing job BEFORE Nix was hired. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4792467 Seriously, what HC in their right mind that was worth a damn, would work for a retired head scout who had never been a GM before. Oh wait, perhaps a guy that had been fired the year before as an OC, and was desperate to be a HC again.
  18. Looking over the quality of the last 3 years of drafting I have to wonder if the Bills scouting dept is the real problem. Are these men just going thru the motions of doing their jobs for the bills, and then selling the proper results to other teams? Because they appear to be inept in almost every draft after the 1st round selection. Even then, the first rounders the Bills have chosen the last 3 years have been questionable save Spiller who was Chan's choice after playing against him in college. The Bills don't just need a HC like Jon Gruden that only knows how to run an elite complex passing offense that only he and another brainiac will know how to execute. This franchise desperately needs someone in charge who knows talent at every position, knows defense, knows offense and is willing to put up with the cranky old codger who owns the team. To those in love with the idea of hiring Jon Gruden, he is a more expensive Chan Gailey clone. Gruden is clueless about the defense. Once Buc's DC Monte Kiffin went off to help his son coach at USC Gruden's defense was worse then the current Bills. The entire time Gruden was with the Buc's all he did was keep trying to find that "elite" franchise type QB over and over, he never found him. Which therefore leads me to believe Gruden is as lame as Gailey in not knowing QB talent. Eff Jon Gruden My money would be on Bill Cowher for 8 mill per for a new HC. Cowher won a power struggle with Tom Donahoe while at Pittsburgh and then went on to select Big Ben before Donahoe could draft him for the Bills.
  19. No argument here. Nix sucks because of his lousy drafting and his choice of head coach. Gailey sucks because he married a broken QB the last 3 years. Can't figure out how to win games, or more importantly win division games. Doesn't know how to setup the offense to run the 2 min drill, which BTW is one of the most important aspects of the offense. Doesn't know the difference between a good player and a bad player at any position. This is particularly true for the QB position. Lets not forget he chose Trent Edwards to start over Fitz and Brian Brohm, the moron. Plus, Gailey doesn't know his ass from his elbow concerning what defense to run or what defensive coordinator to hire. Both George Edwards and Dave Wannstedt have set franchise records for being bad. In Dave Wannstooges case he set NFL records for being bad. The sooner this coaching staff of buffoons is fired, the sooner Ebenezer can hire a new set.
  20. You would think that logic would dictate that since the Bills used a draft pick to obtain Tavaris Jackson they should see if he is a "keeper" in the Buffalo offense. They don't even want to see what the guy can do in a regular season game before the season ends? Oh Wait! are they are afraid it might show how flawed that O line might actually be. At this point who really shivs a git about winning the game. Its actually better to lose out and obtain a better draft pick while letting the Jets win and letting them have a crappier pick. JMO This is just another reason why this entire regime should be crap canned.
  21. Granted, with Gailey still the HC,and Nix the GM its 2-14. A great HC and new GM it could easily be a winning record if the right moves are made. New QB, another top WR, 2 good to great LBers. a good TE that can stay healthy. Plus so many changes are needed to add depth to the roster. This can only be accomplished by a GM that knows what he is doing.
  22. How about I show you a HoF coach with more then one HoF QB. Bill Walsh had Joe Montana and then took a guy who everyone considered a bust in Tampa Bay and turned him into a HoF, SB winning QB in Steve Young. That same style West Coast offense that produced Joe Montana & Steve Young also got John Elway 2x superbowls with Mike Shanahan. Elway was a 3x SP loser before Shanhan. That Bronco team had Gary Kubiak as OC but Shanahan learned the WCO as OC under Bill Walsh The Bronco's utilized a run heavy offense with zone blocking, RB Terrell Davis league MVP. That same WCO that developed Brett Favre under Mike Holmgren went on to develop Aaron Rodgers under Mike McCarthy. McCarthy worked under both Holmgren and Walsh in SF. Holmgren won a SB with Brett Favre and also went to a SB with QB Matt Hasselbeck in Seattle. Andy Reid learned that WCO offense under Holmgren and went to a SB with Donovan McNabb. Jon Gruden another WCO disciple who worked under Holmgren won a SB in Tampa. Bill Cowher 15 years at the helm of the Steelers who went to a SB and lost with scrub QB's and then finally won one with Big Ben. 8 playoff appearances with scrub QB's but still a winner all that time. Don Schula was already a SB winning HC with a great defense and running game, then went back to the SB with HoF QB Dan Marino and lost. Tom Landry 28 years as a HC 250-162-6. .607% Chuck Noll 23 years as HC 193-148-1 .566% Its my contention that winning coaches find a way to get a future HoF QB. I say find a winning HC and he will find the winning QB.
  23. Jeez, comparing a total loser to Tom Landry and Chuck Noll? yea, you are talking about two HoF coaches with inept rosters they needed to build up to start winning. The difference is Gailey could have 20 years, and it would be 20 years of failure as he just doesn't know how to win. Just look at the talent on the Bills defense this season, and yet they were near last in every defensive category all year. It was so bad they set franchise and NFL records for being bad. The Bills were 4th overall in rushing this season with Spiller & Jackson, and 24th in passing with Fitz. yet this HC kept calling for shotgun passing plays all game. This Bills team is lacking talent alright, talent on the sideline in terms of coaching. Go look at Fitz try and run a 2 min drill to win the game. He couldn't do it, the players besides the QB didn't know what to do. Its all about coaching. The ineptitude on this coaching staff has been unbelievably bad for 3 years now.
  24. Yea, its almost comical to watch the Bills / Fitz run the 2 min drill with 5:51 min on the clock and watch them take 4:31 to get it to the red zone....then promptly throw an INT. It would be comical, if it weren't so tragic! This is just one area of Chan Gaileys failings as head coach to do his job and have his players do theirs. Not once did a player make a catch or run and try and get out of bounds. Of course the opposing team is going to give you short middle of the field stuff. Remember the week 7 Titans game where the Bills have 1:03 on the clock and need to go 60 yards for a game winning FG? It was a comical tragedy to watch Fitz in 4 shotgun pass attempts and he couldn't even get a first down against a pathetic Tenn defense Its another reason why this HC should have never been hired, 3 years of team life wasted on a complete moron. But then the guy that hired him also turned out to be a moron.
  25. The Bills defenses biggest need? How about a new defensive coordinator Buffalo's biggest problem, is the type of scheme the DC is running whereas most of the pressure on the QB comes from only the D line. A DC who will kick some butt when the players miss tackles, miss their gaps and make mistake after mistake. Plus, assistant coaches that will actually teach proper techniques in tackling, positioning to intercept and strip the ball to make turnovers
