  1. Hrmm Lovie is a winner, but his Choice of OC's is about as bad as Gaileys choice of DC's Why not hire someone that knows both offense and defense
  2. The Bears fire Lovie Smith after going 10-6.....yet some here want to keep Gailey
  3. Not entirely true, Kelly could have forced a trade, Bill Polian talked Kelly into signing. Thurman was a Dolphin for a season
  4. :worthy: :worthy: :worthy:
  5. Nobody deserves to stay,,, The fact that Brandon meet with Gruden, and not Buddy Nix says something.
  6. Hey, RW kept Jauron for a fourth season, so it wouldn't surprise me. I'd just be elated if Nix, Gailey, Wannstedt are all fired and replaced. I look at teams like the 11-5 Colts and think...maybe, just maybe. Recall that the Colts were 2-14 last year, fired their entire staff. Along with noted president Bill Polian, his son who was GM. A clean sweep to go 11-5 and playoffs
  7. .... ..... ....
  8. A Winning culture to who? To the new set of coaches? To the players dumped by the new set of coaches? This game was meaningless in terms of wins. The ultimate goal every year is to make the playoffs and eventually get to the super bowl. Anything less then the playoffs is meaningless. Like I stated the Jets HC was smart enough to allow his team to lose. IMO if you can't make the playoffs the next important thing happens in April good points
  9. Never say that! PTR said that about Jauron. I said that about George Edwards Someone in the FO needs to grown a brain and hire a winning HC,and not someone "perceived" to be a winning HC.
  10. What a crock...the game was about as meaningless as meaningless can get! How exactly do you know that winning this game doesn't cost the Bills their future QB? I know I'd be happier with a loss and a better draft pick BTW, in case you missed it the Bills beat the Dolphins once this year, so now they are 2-4 in the division
  11. Only the Bills would win a meaningless game that would help them more to lose. Rex probably told his defense before the game, if anyone makes a tackle I'll kick your butt. He didn't need to say anything to Sanchez
  12. You seem intent on missing several points. First, those other teams have valid reasons for being as bad as they are, bad schemes, new coaches, new D line players. The Buffalo Bills don't have those excuses, they have a very experienced DC who was with the Bills last season, albeit in a lower assistant capacity. Some very experienced players that are very familiar with a 4-3 defense. Wannstedt doesn't run an elaborate, complex shifting defense with constant player changes, stunting, blitzing. On the contrary, he ran a very vanilla base 4-3 defense for most of the year. The Bills don't have poor talent on that D line. It was supposedly one of the best ever before the season started. They also have some experienced veteran LBers that should be playing better then they are. Like I stated earlier, you would expect the Bills players to be well schooled in tackling, gap discipline, and overall good play in their respective positions. THAT IS BAD COACHING! I am keeping perspective on it, Dave Wannstedt sucks and should have been relived of duties at the bye. I'll celebrate when that moron is finally fired. Now, not unique? Which defense set a new record in the 90+ year history of the NFL for the first ever team allowing a 300 yard passer, and 300 yards rushing in a single game?
  13. I'm reading Pioli has a new 5 year contract on his desk that remains unsigned. Unfortunately for him he is defined by his poor choice of head coaches. As for Buddy Nix, where do I begin? From the ineptitude of free agents like Cornell Green, and building a team of cast off waiver wire accumulations. No franchise QB (or even a young QB to be groomed as a starter) drafted and yet 3-4 teams recently drafted "non elite" QB and those teams are all in the playoffs. Andy Dalton, Bengals. Colin Kaepernick, 49ers. Russell Wilson, Seahawks. Christian Ponder, Vikings 3 years to finally find a decent LT. 3 years and 100 million dollars to find a decent pass rusher. STILL lacking decent LBers. No top WR to complement SJ on the other side. No TE that can stay healthy and be a force. when there have been a multitude of players the Bills could have selected the last 3 years if Nix had even the slightest clue of how those players would eventually turn out. Trading away Marshawn Lynch for a 4th, a 1000 yard rusher who made the pro bowl this year. Letting Donte Whitner leave and he makes the pro bowl also. The defense sure could have used Poz this year as they are currently ranked worst in the NFL against the run. Lets also not forget that the buck stops with Nix as he is ultimately responsible for the team, how it performs, the coaches, the assistants. Chan Gailey has been bad, his choice of DC's has been historically bad. the overall record 15-32. If Buddy Nix has no insight into how Ponder, Kaepernick, Wilson, Dalton would turn out. Then how do you justify keeping him to pick your next QB? Buddy Nix has been inept at his job and keeping him is just prolonging the inevitable Fire this jerkweed and hire someone who can identify talent properly.
  14. The Lions run a weird defense predicated on the offense scoring first, and keeping a lead. Which to say the least, is moronic! The Detroit news ran an article on it as Jim Schwartz set it up. The "wide 9" they routinely allow the opposing RB's to gash for big gains but it supposedly helps their pass rush. If I'm not mistaken the Eagles tried to run this same defensive scheme early this season and it got their DC fired. The Saints lost both HC & DC for the season, and some players were unable to attend some off season activities and training camp. While you might not think this is a big deal, apparently it has been and thats why they are the worst defense this season. While the Saints are not uniquely bad. I would have to state the Buffalo Bills have been uniquely bad this season, considering that D line. Just look at the first ever NFL record they broke. A DC with as much experience as Wannstedt. He was the assistant HC as well as LBer coach on the team last year. He was supposed to help George Edwards with the defense, how did that go? Oh, he got him fired so he could replace him huh?
  15. The thing is, with a coach who has as much NFL / overall experience as Wannstedt, you would expect the Bills players to be well schooled in tackling, gap discipline, and overall good play in their respective positions. Why did it take most of the season for this defense to finally learn and understand their duties? I watched in disbelief as that supposed vaunted Bills D Line was pushed all over the place the first part of the season. Most coaches will tell you that the easiest part of coaching a team is getting the defense up to speed, by far! When the NFL runs the pro bowl they scale back what the defense is allowed to do in order to protect the star QB's Defense must run a 4-3 at all times, No press coverage except inside the 5 yard line, No blitzing, Not allowed to rush a punt, PAT or FG attempt. Geez, does that defense look familiar to anyone else? Is it any wonder why every QB the Bills played against looked like an all pro? (save Arizona, who has the worst O line in the game) Thru the first 7 games of the season the Bills the Bills were allowing 5.95 per carry, the most in league history!! Since then they have gotten to 4.91 YPA, and over the last 4 games have allowed a league best 3.14 Now, if that defense had a front 7 of all rookies, then I could give a decent reason for the huge learning curve. Expectations were so high at the beginning of the season, and rightfully so with a DC with 35+ years of coaching experience, and a history of building a SB winning Dallas Cowboy 4-3 defense. Some people might consider that Wannstedt had the defense tank in the beginning of the season so he could get his good buddy Chan fired, the result could be that he would be hired to replace him...who knows. 48 points to the 6-9 Jets, opening game 45 points to the 49ers...a running team 35 points to Tennessee ... this game was a pivotal loss, Wannstedt & Gailey should have been fired during the bye week 50 points to the Seahawks...a rookie QB who the Bills could have drafted in the 3rd round. It was embarrassing to be a Buffalo Bills fan this season on so many levels, and still is. Nix, Gailey Wannstedt all gotta go. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/tgl_finder.cgi?request=1&match=single&year_min=1970&year_max=2012&game_type=R&game_num_min=1&game_num_max=7&week_num_min=0&week_num_max=99&game_day_of_week=&game_time=&time_zone=&game_location=&surface=&roof=&game_result=&overtime=&league_id=&team_id=&opp_id=&conference_game=&division_game=&tm_is_playoff=&opp_is_playoff=&tm_is_winning=&opp_is_winning=&tm_scored_first=&tm_led=&tm_trailed=&c1stat=&c1comp=gt&c1val=&c2stat=&c2comp=gt&c2val=&c3stat=&c3comp=gt&c3val=&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&order_by=rush_yds_per_att_opp
  16. I disagree. The Buffalo Bills are about to set a new franchise record for points allowed, and second in yards allowed. They set two NFL records, allowing back to back 500+ yard games since the 50's. and an NFL first ever!! A 300 yard passer and 300 yards rushing in the same game. Those two teams have reasons for being bad. The Saints lost their DC & HC this year because of a suspension and a bunch of defensive players were also suspended. Is it any wonder why that team is in disarray. The Buc's have a new coaching staff, DC Bill Sheridan has one previous year of NFL experience as a DC, and the Buc's didn't pay 100 million to a FA DE. Lets not forget that the current Buffalo Bills are ranked dead last in the NFL last against the run. Dave Wannstedt has got to be the worst ever hire as DC, considering his background and NFL experience.
  17. I can tell you that with only 32 HCing jobs in the NFL each season it happens to be one of the most coveted jobs on this earth. Plus, you are making millions of dollars as an NFL HC. The Bills had several candidates better then crappy, fired as KC OC, out of football entirely in 09 Chan Gailey,. Ex SB winning HC Brian Billick wanted the job. Bad Team to good team re builder Marty Schottenheimer wanted the job badly. Bill DC Perry Fewell wanted the job. Instead hillbilly Buddy Nix hired another good ole boy that shouldn't even be a QB coach in the NFL.
  18. Really, 3 years to find and finally draft a decent LT. 3 years and 100 million dollars to find a pass rusher. If Nix had built that line in his first year I doubt the Bills go 0-8, and finally 4-12. This is the biggest failing of this GM, to address dire needs immediately. Moron Jauron traded away LT Jason Peters in the 09 off season. Then cut Dockery, and Walker just before the start of the 09 season. A big reason why the offense couldn't get going that year, even under Fewell. Bell & Cornell Green were the starting tackles in 2010. The Bills were also desperate for a pass rusher since Schobel retired in 09, at least Jauron tried with Maybin. They needed to replace LB Poz, Whitner, Lee Evans, Lynch after they traded them away or let them walk. They already had drafted Spiller, which we all can see was a Gailey choice and not a real need player. The reason why Lynch became expendable in the first place. Right now Lynch is doing better then both Jackson and Spiller. a 4th round pick for a former #1 pick and a pro bowl RB. The Bills are still lacking that top WR. Still lacking LBers. Still lacking that franchise QB, or any decent back up QB for that matter. It simply doesn't take competent GM's 3+ years to build a team. The way Nix is doing things it will never get done.
  19. I wonder whatever happened to nevergiveup, starting to think he gave up... On another note, I would be more OK with Ralph Wilson keeping Nix another year rather then Gailey as I just can't forgive Chan for his choices on DC's and miss use of players. The more I think about the more I have come to realize that Marty S must have had some major influence on who the Chargers drafted during his time there. Because now it looks like neither AJ Smith nor Buddy Nix know what they are doing. Look at the drafts after Marty was fired, they are about as bad as bad can get. Nix hasn't built very well thru the draft in Buffalo like he was supposed to, so many many misses. Just think, Marty S had Cam Cameron as OC, Wade Phillips as DC and John Pagano as LBer coach for his assistants.
  20. cheers Buddy Nix was supposed to build another 2005 Charger team in Buffalo, instead they got the 2005 Detroit Lions with a clueless man in charge. Marv Levy was a better GM.
  21. Wanna know whats maddening? A single voice in the wilderness screaming about whats wrong, why isn't anyone else taking notice of all the mistakes and stupid moves. Constantly reading excuse after excuse for the reasons from fans as to why when they make no sense and are just excuses. This was after the first off season, pre season, 0-8 of 2010. Now I know why this owner didn't make a move back then. His total commitment to the GM he had hired, thinking he would have a team like the 2005 SD Chargers very soon. Plus the fact that he signed both the GM and HC to a 5 year deal. The mistakes and miscues over the last 3 years have almost been unbelievable. Bad draft choices, wrong personnel moves, cutting the wrong players. bad schemes, wrong assistants hired. Why does it take 3 years and 112 million dollars to find a pass rusher or two. No QB's drafted before the 7th round. 3 years to find a fill in LT. Letting talented players leave via trade and getting almost nothing for them. Both Lynch and Whitner in the pro bowl. Geez, ya think the Bills could have used Poz at all since they let him walk. Two #1s, and a #2 wasted and gone. This 3 year regime has been a joke / disaster from top to bottom. Marv Levy was never a GM and he did better. But! who will they get to replace the GM & HC...? Hopefully someone young with an abundance of energy and the ability to study film, and actually understand what they are watching. Someone who can evaluate and grade the players at every position on the roster properly. Someone who knows both defense and offense well enough to hire the right assistants that can do their jobs properly. My first choice would be to throw the bank at Bill Cowher and give him autonomy of football operations, the man knows talent, he knows assistant coaches, he knows schemes, and most importantly he knows how to win! Bills in the playoffs within 2 years. Mike Zimmer, Bengals DC ..Dom Capers Packers DC..Bruce Arians OC. Colts..Mike MCcoy OC of the Broncos, you know, the man who got Tim Tebow to win a playoff game against the Steelers. Bill Cowher (149-90) Jon Gruden(95-81), Tony Dungy(139-69), Brian Billick (80-64)are all out there and have won a SB. If money is the issue then hire Mike McCoy to get the offense to work properly, Mike Zimmer to get the most out of the defense. Colts OC Bruce Arians ran that team fine for Chuck Pagano. Obviously interview them all hire the best choice. Need someone who knows everything to know about building a top team? Hire GM Thomas Dimitroff away from Atlanta and make him president of football operations. That is if Cowher turns the job down. None of those men want to interview? BS, I know Brian Billick wanted the Bills HCing job back in 2010, so did Marty S. Because Wilson didn't feel "comfortable" the bills are 15-32 .325%, 3 years wasted If Bills fans are forced to endure another 2 years of this mess because there is not enough money to make changes, or this owner doesn't want to make a move just yet. Well then, GL on selling season seats. P.S. A darn shame this owner didn't have a handful of sons to take over the team like Bill Bidill,or just one like Robert Irsay. P.P.S. Would have posted this in a different thread, but that one was closed due to an exorbitant amount of tears falling
