  1. Just sayin, he was out there. Not like the Bills FO even gave him a thought.
  2. I'm all for the Bills taking a QB with the first pick until they find that elusive elite franchise guy.
  3. Yea, tell that to the Broncos
  4. This guy is a complete dog, and any team that makes a move to sign him has a beyond stupid FO. I'd rather give a shot to the fat guy wearing the green cape in that movie invincible
  5. What he is stating is that it doesn't get much better then Nassib in terms of staying out of trouble, not failing drug tests, not getting a DUI. His character is about as flawless as you can get. "There aren’t any concerns with him as a person or leader." Unlike so many young players that get into trouble like QB Cam Newton who had several brushes with the law. Marcell Dareus also had his troubles. Few college players are squeaky clean from what I understand.
  6. If they find a handgun they get arrested, then go thru the system like everyone else. Politicians from other counties / states, and their guards might get a free walk, although they need to let the local departments know they are there in advance. If you are a NYS Peace Officer or DOC Officer not working in NYC you had better check with the Police in Nassau county before you carry in NYC out of uniform / off duty. I actually was thinking law enforcement officers from other states, counties as most officers I know always carry, and afaik the NYC law applies to everyone. Out of 1,344,436 people only about 3000 are licensed to carry a concealed handgun. From what I understand off duty NYC DOC have to apply for a permit to carry off duty 6 mo after they get the job. Then it might take up to two years before a permit is granted and even then they are very picky about who can carry. Any docks on your record and its a no go.
  7. It doesn't matter if its loaded or not. If the Bullets / clip are at hand, the law sees it as the same thing. Read the links.
  8. I'd be willing to bet that that 24% consists of off duty police officers from other jurisdictions, guards ETC, caught carrying in Nassau county. Plus, lawyers and other top executives of companies that have the political clout to get themselves out of this type of incident with a slap on the wrist. Normal everyday Joe's are gonna do the time. So IMHO Bowers is going to jail, no question. The only real question is, for how long. Like I stated earlier, the NYC courts do not want to set a precedent on a high profile NFL player.
  9. The thing I think most of you are missing is that Ryan Nassib wasn't highly recruited out of high school, the 82nd ranked QB that year. Greg Paulus was named the starter Nassib's freshman redshirt year so he hardly played at all the first year. That Syracuse team really had a bunch of nobody's as receivers too. Nassib has suffered no major injuries throughout his college career, and he took some hard hits and got right back up. Plus he was a Big East all-academic selection every year since his freshman year. That Syracuse team, and offense became good under Marrone / Hackett, and Nassib became a 1st / 2nd round draft pick because of those two men. So, I think whomever the Bills select at QB this year Marrone / Hackett will be able to coach them up, and develop them properly. My take is once all the teams realize just how good Nassib is... some team will fall in love with him and snag him before the Bills if they don't take him with that 8th pick READ THIS! http://nflsfuture.com/2013/01/16/ryan-nassib-scouting-report/ "Good luck finding someone with more intangibles than this guy. He and Tyler Wilson have that gunslinger mentality that I personally love. You can see the competitor come out and teams will fall in love with that spirit. There aren’t any concerns with him as a person or leader. Played in a pro-style offense under Doug Marrone dropping mostly from under center." This writer states it would be a monumental mistake to take Nassib with that 8th pick. I think it would be a monumental mistake to wait until round 2 and lose out on the guy. This franchise has been without a top QB for almost 2 decades. I hope they take Nassib in the first and Bray in the 3rd.
  10. He is going to jail !! Just like Plax, No amount of money will save him because the city refuses to allow anyone to get away with carrying an unlicensed gun. They don't want to set a precedent in that NYC Law There is NO peaceable travel / journey law that allows anyone to carry an unlicensed handgun thru NYC / Nassau county. The federal law doesn't provide protection even if just passing thru People have been arrested for having an unregistered handgun when flying out of N.Y. airports. In 2005, Gregg C. Revell was traveling through Newark Airport, but because of a missed flight, he was given his luggage, which included a properly checked firearm, and he was forced to spend the night in New Jersey. When he returned to the airport the following day and checked his handgun, he was arrested for illegal possession. Mr. Revell lost his lawsuit after The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit held in Gregg C. Revell v. Port Authority of New York and New Jersey,[22] held that "Section 926A does not apply to Revell because his firearm and ammunition were readily accessible to him during his stay in New Jersey." This opinion will apply to N.Y. airports.[citation needed] If you miss a flight, or for any reason your flight is interrupted, and the airline attempts to return your luggage to you (that contains a lawfully-checked firearm), to avoid Mr. Revell's situation, you should REFUSE in any way to handle or touch the luggage containing the firearm (not even to immediately check it on to your later flight). http://en.wikipedia....aws_in_New_York
  11. Ummm, no you can't! You would be the very next plax if caught in Nassau county with that handgun. I also have a NYS pistol permit and I know I can't take it into NYC / Nassau county.
  12. Just unreal that people don't know how tough the NYC law is on handguns. This just after NYS passed the toughest gun laws in the nation A friend of mine told me his brother was being carjacked and shot the culprit, didn't kill him tho. The brother got more time in prison for having an unlicensed handgun then the carjacker did. In Nassau county You even need a permit to own a rifle or shotgun, and getting a permit for a handgun is almost impossible . http://www.police.co.nassau.ny.us/forms_faq.htm
  13. Not to worry The Orangemen did a very good job developing Ryan Nassib considering his inferior WR corps and surrounding cast. Thanks to Doug Marrone and his OC Nathanial Hackett. Hackett will also be QB's coach for the Bills. Not to worry, I'm about 90% positive the Bills will select Ryan Nassib with that 8th overall. Regardless of what anyone else says they know this kid inside and out. Plus he already knows the offense they will run. This is reminiscent of Dolphins last year with Tallwhacker & his college coach Mike Sherman now as OC. I like Bray a lot, and I'm sure some team will fall in love with his arm despite his shortcomings... Just not the Bills.
  14. Interesting article by Bucky Brooks @ NFL.com 5) Tyler Bray, QB, Tennessee Area of concern: Maturity. Bray is arguably the most gifted passer in the 2013 NFL Draft, but he is not considered one of the top quarterback prospects due to concerns about his character. http://www.nfl.com/combine/story/0ap1000000137996/article/manti-teo-matt-barkley-head-prospects-with-something-to-prove Should the Bills lose out on Nassib (who I think they will try and get in the 2nd round) They might get a shot at Bray
  15. Yea, like at 9:38 in that Florida game. That Gator team went 11-1 BTW. The Vols went 5-7 and the HC was fired. Just sayin... Want to know why the Vols were so bad this year? They did have a decent QB and WR corps but... "The Vols briefly entered the Top 25 after winning their first two games, but they've lost seven of nine since. Their defense has allowed 37.4 points and 476.8 yards per game to rank statistically among the worst in school history." ex Tennessee HC Derek Dooley: "Among Tennessee coaches to last at least three seasons, Derek Dooley has the worst win percentage (.417) in school history. No Vols coach has departed with even a sub-.500 mark since 1935." http://espn.go.com/c...-another-season Mike Mayock: » Wide receiver: It's no surprise that Cordarrelle Patterson tops the list, as Mayock has stated that his jaw dropped when he put on the Tennessee film and saw the game-breaking wideout making plays all over the field. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000139747/article/mayock-flips-the-script-on-defensive-stars I like Bray and think if given some time to develop that he could be a very good NFL QB much like Jay Cutler. However, I'm not an expert and like I stated earlier in this thread, I can't wait to hear what Mayock has to say on some of these players!
  16. Mike Mayock's top 5 players (pre combine) at each position. Quarterback 1. Geno Smith, West Virginia 2. Matt Barkley, USC 3. Mike Glennon, NC State 4. Ryan Nassib, Syracuse 5. Landry Jones, Oklahoma http://www.nfl.com/d...-2013-nfl-draft Todd McShay “I’ll be totally honest, I gave them a quarterback just because it didn’t feel right to finish a whole first round and not have one,” McShay said. “Listen, I like Ryan Nassib a lot. I think he has a chance to develop into a great backup and there’s an outside chance he can become a solid starter. But to use the eighth overall pick on Ryan Nassib, I think, would be a big mistake.” http://www.buffalone...ills-drive-1003 I don't see Nassib making it to the Bills in round two either. Not when so many teams are looking to upgrade the QB position. Only the Lions are set at QB so that leave 7 teams that might want a QB this year. Mike Mayock: "On the uneven quarterback class: "Over the last several years, we've had defined quarterback play at the top, and we still talk about them ad nauseam. Everybody laughed at me last year at this time. I was trying to tell people Ryan Tannehill was not only going to be a first-round pick, but he might be a top 10 guy. And that's what happens with these quarterbacks. And I don't know who the best quarterback is yet, and I don't know if there's a first-round quarterback. Yet I hear all these people talk about Geno Smith going No. 1. So I'm fascinated. This is going to be, by far, the most confusing quarterback draft we've had in years." On this year's hidden gem at QB: "I don't have him. I don't have him. And mean, trust me, I'm looking for him." http://www.nfl.com/n...arterback-draft Jeez, is anyone else happy that the SB is over, along with all the media coverage that goes with it is finally starting to go away. So we can talk combine and the upcoming draft. The combine is Feb 23rd thru the 26th
  17. Geez, it isn't always all about stats. Who really shivs a git if he throws for 4k yards 30+ TD's if he can't win games!! I used to be a fan of Fitz in 2010 after I watched him run for his life game after game, and he survived! Then he played so well in those OT games against the Ravens and Steelers. This year I watched in disbelief as Fitz tried to run the 2 min drill several times only to fall on his face hard. That game against the Titans Fitz had a little over a minute to go 60 yards for a FG and all he could do was go 4 and out against one of the worst defenses in the NFL....truly pathetic! I can only think that Fitz regressed badly under Gailey, who kept using the same plays and scheme that stopped working back in mid 2011. Perhaps Marrone can bring Fitz back to life as a suitable QB in a better run offense, who knows. (no pun intended) But yea, last years defense was the very worst part of the 2012 Bills, It certainly didn't help that Gailey couldn't find a way to get the run game working against the better teams tho. Probably because they only ran well out of passing formations, so if the passing game gets shut down, then so does the run game. Hopefully Marrone will build an offense that can get a 3rd and short by pounding the run game, rather then constantly airing it out all game long in any situation.
  18. Its the ineptitude in the GM / scouting dept that made them pay 100 million to Mario Williams when they could have easily drafted JJ Watt / JPP or others. They allowed Jauron to choose Mayin over Arakpo. They currently have some semblance of a pass rusher in Kelsay, didn't have the acumen or intelligence to find a replacement. Lets hope Pettine changes this. Lets hope Doug Marrone, and his new coaching staff can change many things wrong with this team.
  19. For the first time since Wade Phillips was fired I actually am optimistic about this new head coach, his DC, and this years team. Plus the fact that the owner is now out of the picture. The Bills hired a man who knows the NFL and what it takes to win. He knows that you cannot be a Mr nice guy and then expect your players to respect you. I won't start being pessimistic until Marrone effs up like Gailey / Jauron / Williams / Mularkey did in their jobs. Simply reading about the endorsements from other NFL players, coaches gives me hope that the Bills might have finally made a good choice. That Buddy Nix had no say in his hiring also helps. Speaking of Nix, the one thing that still bothers me is why this man still has a job with the Buffalo Bills as a GM. He proved during his 3 year tenure as GM he can't pick a good HC or DC (Gailey / Wannstedt), doesn't know top talent when he sees it (#2 pick Aaron Williams et al), and is afraid to move up and down in the draft. That pretty much states he almost useless in my view. The Bills still have many many holes because of the ineptitude of Buddy Nix. Can't figure out how to draft a pass rusher when there are many other teams finding them (JPP, JJ Watt) so better pay a FA a 100 mill which now limits other FA acquisitions. Still no #2 WR, 3 years to draft a LT, still no franchise QB. Still no top LBers. Will the Bills finally be able to draft something other then a RB / DB with that first pick? Is it any wonder why this franchise hasn't found a franchise QB since Jim Kelly, as they simply refuse to draft QB's with that first pick. Only one player since 1995 to 2012, and Losman was an afterthought as the Steelers drafted ahead of the Bills to grab Big Ben. 31 DB's drafted since 1995, and 4 QB's. #2 Todd Collins in 95- #1 JP Losman 2004-#3 Trent Edwards 2007-#7 Levi Brown 2010. So yea, there are many reasons why any Bills fan should not be optimistic about he up coming year. Lets just hope two things happen, Nix retires and Marrone drafts a QB.
  20. Depending on what scouting report you read Bray's accuracy is very good on the deep ball and better then Ryan Mallett when he scrambles. A lot of talk about his accuracy issues have to deal with his footwork and sometimes slinging sidearm delivery. So yea, he will need to be developed properly on a running team just like Flacco was. The kid reminds me of Jay Cutler with that arm of his. From watching some of his college play, his wideouts dropped quite a few passes on him IMO. Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson ranked the #2 WR overall, and graded as a first round pick. Along with Tenn WR Justin Hunter ranked the 10th WR but still a 2nd round pick, are both in this years draft class. Plus his TE is leaving. Interesting to hear if Bray didn't finish his senior year at Tenn because his WR's left or because his HC is gone and Tenn has an entire new coaching staff. At this point I can't wait to listen to what Mike Mayock has to say about this years draft class. "As mentioned, his arm strength is great and one of his best assets. Delivers the football with high velocity and has a snappy, compact throwing motion. Accuracy is also very good whether it is a short or long pass. " http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?prospect_id=3536
  21. Here is a 2008 scouting report on Joe Flacco. Now considering the QB's in this years draft class. Flacco was not ranked as an "elite" franchise QB either at that time. http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?prospect_id=1274 "Flacco possessed one of the strongest arms in college football. With a good frame, tall and thickly built, he is unusually accurate for a quarterback of this size." "He is very raw, having played on a simplified offensive system, but is bright enough to assimilate into a complex system. His mechanism needs a lot of work, although his 40 time does not suggest (4.90) he can run, but tends to hold to the ball too often, thus garnering a sack." Most teams had Flacco graded as a #2 pick, and his status improved after the Combine. The Ravens already had a solid team when they drafted Flacco, and mostly needed a QB. They took their time in allowing Flacco to develop behind a decent O line. I can recall the 2009 wildcard playoff game against the Patriots IN New england in which Flacco completed only 4 of 10 passes for 34 yards (unreal right?) and the Ravens beat the Patriots 33-14. With a smothering defense and a power running game. The Ravens ran the ball 52 times for 234 yards and 4 TD's. Ray Rice went 22 rushes for 159 yards, 2 TDs. I also recall making comments about this game in this forum after that game and pointed out that the Ravens had just given the Bills a blueprint on how to beat their biggest Rivals! They didn't listen. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/201001100nwe.htm The Ravens with Cam Cameron as OC did it the right way back then. (this is the same OC that helped develop Drew Brees / Phillip Rivers. but the Ravens fired him during the season this year for whatever reason and the Ravens offense improved) Flacco was good back in 2009, but very raw and needed development. The Ravens had a strong running game with RB Ray Rice, RB Willis McGahee, FB Le'Ron McClain The important thing to remember here is that the Ravens were already a playoff team that was struggling to find a top QB to lead them. The Ravens were smart enough to not force a young QB to try and win games all by himself. Thus limiting his passing while running the ball often, and playing great defense. Here is a funny tidbit on why I love Mike Mayock as a talent evaluator. This was from April 27th 2008. http://www.aolnews.com/2008/04/27/mike-mayock-brady-quinn-cant-carry-joe-flaccos-jock-brady/ One of the storylines heading into Day 2 of the NFL Draft is that the Ravens, after trading out of the eighth pick, moved back up to No. 18 to grab their latest franchise quarterback, Joe Flacco. FanHouse's Josh Alper, like most of us, is skeptical of the selection, but NFL Network's Mike Mayock is here to assuage your concerns, Ravens fans accustomed to mediocre quarterback play. "Let me put it in perspective: Brady Quinn -- everybody thought was a top-10 pick last year -- Brady Quinn, as far as physical skill set, can't carry his jock."
  22. Thank you Alpha, saved me the trouble. Mistakes? 16-32 .333% The biggest mistake was hiring the man as head coach. The man had every opportunity to build a proper offense with a drafted rookie QB or a free agent QB, he chose Fitz! Then tried to make an incapable player exceed his abilities. That is moronic in my book. That SF game, Jackson had 9 attempts and Spiller had 7. Fitz went 16 of 26 for 126 yards. So the entire offense fell on its face, and not just the running game. But, that is exactly why Gailey is a moron. Because his teams looked decent against bad teams and horrific against the good teams. Meanwhile, the Bills defense set a new NFL record for allowing the very first ever 300 yard passing and 300 yards rushing in the same game. That was with Alex Smith at QB. The Texans game Jackson 6 attempts, Spiller 6 attempts. Gailey didn't even try and run the ball. The Seattle blowout Spiller had 103 rushing yards, but the Seahawks had 4 rushing touchdowns with 3 of them by the rookie QB that Buddy Nix was clueless about. The Chan Gailey experiment was an utter failure in Buffalo, Greg Williams did better in 3 years, 17-31. Mike Mularkey did better in 2 years 14-18 .438%. Dick Jauron did better in 3 1/2 years 24-33 .421% I can't wait for the day when Bills fans stop making excuses for one of the lamest Bills HCing hires in recent history.
  23. Lets hope so... Geez, a highlight reel. I'd be more interested in watching all the throws during a game against a top opponent. Like this one, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27_09VIL3d8
  24. Bray won't make it out of the 2nd round, and it might be dreaming to think the Bills could get these two. Will they finally go heavy on offense? Gailey was a supposed offensive guru, and yet it seems like all the bills did was draft for the pathetic defense. Which unbelievably somehow managed to become worse with a renowned DC and 100 million dollar DE. No idea if the Bills go offense or defense this year. They need LBers, WR's QB. TE, O line, and CB because 2011 #2 pick Aaron Williams sucks. The man who choose Williams is going to pick the next franchise QB?
  25. Look, all this talk / speculation about what Chan might have wanted and what Buddy might have wanted is nonsense! Chan Gailey stuck with Fitz because he an offensive moron, plain and simple. Chan tried for 3 years to magically transform Ryan Fitzpatrick into Tom Brady, and failed. 16-32 says it all, Gailey wanted CJ Spiller in the 2010 draft and stated such months before the draft even took place, he wanted and got his "water bug"! If Gailey had wanted to draft a QB the last 3 years... my take is he would have gotten whatever he wanted for his offense. Let's face some facts here, if anyone in on the Buffalo Bills staff, in any area, GM, HC, scouts knew that Kaepernick, Wilson or Dalton were going to be even remotely as good as they were, the Bills would have drafted them! They didn't know! So, all we can do as Bills fans is hope Doug Marrone knows how to properly evaluate QB talent, because Nix and Gailey showed us they were both clueless.
