Sam Young released, Bills pick up Antoine McClain
thewildrabbit replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gotta be better then Young, who stepped in Briefly for Urbik and allowed two sacks. Probably better then Legursky too -
Didn't the Bills sign a QB in the past because of one singular good performance game start...Rob Johnson esque. It makes me wonder why the Bills don't even look at Tim Tebow, at least he won a playoff game.

Some of you need a reality check.... Go back and re watch that Jets game in which CB Justin "toast" Rodgers allowed 75% of the Jets passing, and 2 TD's. Then Rodgers isn't even the worst player on the team, LG Colin Brown takes those honors being graded at negative -26. To put that grade into perspective Jeff Tuel graded at negative -5.0. The kid looked like a deer in headlights and kept throwing turf balls. Great defensive year? The Bills are currently ranked 23rd in total defense, and just allowed crappy Brandon Weeden to burn them. The Bills have more problems then just a decent backup QB. But going into the season with an un drafted FA rookie QB was simply moronic. Kind of Jauron as GM moronic

Alot of room out on the limb - We beat Bengals
thewildrabbit replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unless of course the Bengals run the ball like they did against the Patriots. Lewis was an un drafted FA by the Rams in 2010, and then signed to Cleveland who waived him. Picked up by the Lions this year. Don't think I've ever heard of a QB coming off the practice squad to make a start in a regular season game and then winning that game. I'd feel different about this game if EJ were starting. -
Thaddeus Lewis starting against Bengals

Yea, tell that to Tom Brady and the Patriots. 3-2 Cincy has a top 10 defense, and grade overall at #8. Ever recall a QB on the practice squad being called up that week for a game, and then winning that game. I know I don't. -

The kid looked like he was crapping in his pants in prime time. -
Pat White not signed at this time

Analytics Department = an another excuse to save money Looks like that playoff drought extends to 14 years...then 0-4 Pittsburgh, 0-5 Jacksonville, 1-3 Minnesota, 0-4 Tampa Bay, 0-5 NY Giants are all going to have the inside track on DE Jadeveon Clowney - QB Teddy Bridgewater The Bills are so bad they can't even be bad enough to get that first overall. On another note, if EJ really is the future the Bills don't want or need Freeman. They just need a stop gap at QB for 5-6 weeks. Jeff "deer in headlights" Tuel might not last that long. -
Except in the 4th QTR with the game on the line and only rushed four like Wannstache did last year. Perhaps once Gilmore and Byrd get healthy they will be a top 10 D. They couldn't even stop father time (Willis) from getting first downs and scoring.

The biggest standout to me in this game was how bad the Bills special team are... 179 return yards. Benjamin 79 yard punt return for a TD broke the game open for the Browns. Then the Bills went into a mysterious wannstache type defense in the 4th QTR and only rushed four. LG Colin Brown went back to his usual sub standard play this week. Worst player on the team IMO, and they have nobody better behind him.The Bills need to bring in a FA tackle, and slide him to guard or something. This kid continues to stink up the field. Tuel looked like he was crapping in his pants out there, so not a very good backup QB. Maybe an OK 3rd stringer, but I hope the Bills bring in a decent vet.

"E.J. Manuel has been tentatively diagnosed with a sprained right knee. Manuel was spotted wearing a bulky brace in the locker room, but was walking under his own power. "Sprained knee" could mean anything, and the Bills won't know the full extent of the damage until Manuel undergoes an MRI. Judging from the way he was walking around on the sideline this evening, it's quite possible he avoided major injury. His status will be updated Friday." http://www.rotoworld.com/sports/nfl/football?r=1 Hopefully a sprained knee is all it is.

Back injury and he returned in the 2nd half. The toughest player on the team when it comes down to playing with pain. Byrd could take some lessons from Stevie

Wow, listen to the complaining, and this after 7 painful years of Gailey / Jauron. The rookie HC / OC along with the rookie QB, and an un drafted rookie QB. Pettine looked an awful lot like Wannstache in the 4th QTR rushing only four. If I'm going to complain about something its not having an experienced back up QB, and the special teams allowing 179 return yards. They were raped by the Brownies Travis Benjamin TD. The Bills might even win that game if EJ steps out of bounds, and doesn't get hurt. Josh Freeman getting a call if EJ's injury is significant?

Ryan Fitzpatrick to start
thewildrabbit replied to Buffalos#1Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You might be right, I dunno, his WR corps in Buffalo after SJ was a bunch of scrubs, and even SJ had significant drops. Was it Fitz or his receivers? Look at that game in which SJ basically spoke out about TJ Graham running the wrong route that caused an INT and then even questioned the coaching (Gailey) as to why Graham was even the primary target, as he had never run that route in practice. My take on Fitz and his accuracy issues is that the man never had a HC / OC / QB coach before last years QB coach David Lee (his words)work with him on his footwork or mechanics. (so Gailey did nothing to improve Fitz) Kinda why I think Fitz regressed a bit in 2012 is that he was always thinking instead of playing by instinct. What made Fitz decent in the first place was his ability to survive in even the most harsh conditions. In 2010 the Buffalo Bills O line was so bad that Fitz was literally running for his life those first few games. I can recall that week four Jet game in which Fitz (7-74)was the leading rusher over Jackson (3-21)-Spiller (2-11)-Lynch(4-8) because he was under so much constant duress. Fitz ended that year with a yard per carry average the same as Michael Vick at 6.0, which is pretty darn good for a supposed pocket QB. The first 5 of games of the 2010 season saw Cornell Green at RT, Demetress Bell at LT, Levitre at LG, Wood at RG, Geoff Hangartner at center. So both tackles were like turnstiles. RT Green had hit the proverbial wall before the season even started, and no coaches even noticed until week four or so. This is a sore subject with me because I saw it in week one, and was complaining about it in this forum to mostly deaf ears. Green was then quietly benched for some mysterious injury and then released after week five. Mansfield Wrotto took his place at RT. Gailey and his coaches didn't see how bad Green was in that first game? This is also the same HC who named Spiller the starter that opening game only to bench him after five plays when he saw he couldn't block in protections, couldn't find a hole, couldn't run a pass route properly. Last years Bills coaching staff, to put it bluntly, sucked! This new staff has already proven to be much better, and with a rookie at QB at that. -
Jordan Cameron is an All-Pro!
thewildrabbit replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anyone see what the Patriots what the Patriots did in the 4th QTR to Falcons TE Tony Gonzalaz? Tony the tiger had 12 receptions for 149 yards and 2 TD's in that game Then in the 4th QTR the Patriots treated him like he was a gunner on ST, and double blocked him at the LoS to keep him from seeing the ball at all. It worked as Tony didn't do much after that. The Browns have two serious receiving threats, one in their TE Cameron and the other in WR Josh Gordon. I gotta wonder if it would be wise for the Bills to run a sort of "wide 9'' defense like the Detroit Lions utilize. It limits the effectiveness of your defense stopping the run, but is better at putting pressure on opposing QB's. Considering the Browns traded away their biggest RB threat in Richardson it might be wise to get strong rush on QB Brian Hoyer rather then worrying about the run.
