The decline of Stevie Johnson ?
thewildrabbit replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not only that Stevie is a rarity in today's NFL that he tries to play thru injuries no matter what. Kinda the exact opposite of trade bait Byrd. Although It might be wise at point in his career to sit out a few games until he recovers so he doesn't suffer a more serious injury. -
For those of you missing Levitre
thewildrabbit replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fans are gonna whine, piss, B word and cry in all manners if their team loses games. Look at the QB's Jake Locker and not Fitz. Not exactly scaring teams into NOT stacking the box to stop the Titans best threat in CJ2K. Johnson 18th ranked this year 3.1 YPC avg 2012 8th ranked with 4.5 YPC avg 2011 14 ranked with 4.0 YPC avg Now looking at the Buffalo Bills this season with CJ Spiller and his 4.0 YPC avg vs last season with 6.0 YPC avg Now take away one long 54 yard run and his YPC goes down to a measly 3.1 YPC. Is there a problem with the Bills LG, you bet!! But there is also a bigger problem with the scheme and play calling from this year to last year. So, is it Chris Johnson, the O line, or the scheme as the Titans have a new OC this year. -
Trade Steve Johnson to Atlanta if the offer is right?
thewildrabbit replied to Dean Cain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First off the Falcons GM is no boob. He is an ex chief scout- director of player personnel from the NE Patriots. I just don't see a someone as smart as Thomas Dimitroff getting fleeced for anything by Doug Whaley. Second, the Falcons need more then one WR as they were failing even when Julio Jones was healthy because Roddy White has been injured all year. Third, the Falcons have greater needs on defense, O line, RB. Did any watch Geno Smith leisurely take the crappy Jets offense down the field for a FG against that bad Atlanta D? Fourth, as someone else pointed out the Bills might have a better chance at dumping Byrd to the Falcons for a #2-#3. Fifth, SJ loves Buffalo and loves playing for Buffalo which is something sort of rare in today's NFL, keep SJ and dump the punk with the imaginary foot problems. -
Doubtful with Colin Brown at LG IMO. As of this week Brown will be splitting time at LG with Legursky. Long overdue to see if he is better at LG, but then he has been injured all this time. EJ was doing fine this season until that 8 sack Jets game. EJ was under so much constant pressure all game long. Recently released G Sam Young went into the game briefly for Kraig Urbik and surrendered two sacks. "DE Muhammad Wilkerson broke out as a pass rusher (+4.8) with seven pressures (two sacks, one hit, four hurries) on his 56 rushes. Of course much of his damage was done against LG Colin Brown who is now grading at -23.7 through three games." To put that number into perspective, QB Jeff Tuel had a -5.0 grade last week and CB Justin Rodgers had a -3.8 against the Jets after giving up... "Picking on Rogers Often times our PFF grades will reveal something that was difficult to see during the original broadcast, but CB Justin Rogers’ (-3.8) difficult game was as clear as day for everyone. We also warn to take caution when comparing coverage metrics to coverage grades, as the metrics don’t always tell the whole story, but again in this case, the numbers speak for themselves. Rogers was targeted eight times and surrendered six receptions for an absurd 247 yards. That represents 74% of the Jets’ gross passing total." https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2013/09/23/refo-buf-nyj-week-3/ To put it bluntly, the Bills really really really miss LG Andy Levitre, and LG Colin Brown is by far the worst player on the team. Even worse then the punter they just cut. The problem is they don't have a viable replacement, and can't find one off the waiver wire like Buddy Nix did in 2010.

Where is The Fan Confidence Level in This Staff ?
thewildrabbit replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First off every Bills fan needs to consider how this GM & coaching staff are being handcuffed just like previous staffs under this very frugal owner. My fan confidence in this coaching staff is far greater then it has been the last 7 years with Gailey / Jauron. Those two morons had their excuses in Jauron being his own GM and Gailey having Buddy Nix. There still has to be a reason as to why this team went into the season without an experienced QB, a better CB, a better LG. I'm thinking its the bean counters. Any Bills fan who doesn't downright love DC Mike Pettine and what he is doing with years defense considering all the injuries, simply isn't watching the games. The defense has flawed players and is still doing pretty good despite those players. Starting to think Doug Marrone isn't what everyone said he was when he was hired. I expected better play at the LG position thru the first five games, and if they had kept LG Andy Levitre i would think they might even be better the 2-3, and even better offensively at protecting the QB and running the ball. Still, that LG player is the absolute worst player on the team by far. How bad you ask? Well, CB Justin Rodgers allowed 75% of the Jets passing along with 2 TD's and LG Colin Brown graded even worse in the game. Now you would think that this GM could make three moves in those first 5 games to secure better players at back up QB, LG, CB. Is it really that difficult to find 3 players? Even "Mr Fossil" Buddy Nix found scrubs off the waiver wire in 2010 G Urbik, G Rinehart, RT Pears, and two of those players have been decent starters. The Bills should have kept LG Chad Rinehart, but that is another story. QB Tim Tebow is still out there and would probably play for nothing if given the chance to start. The Bills are running a variation of a read option offense, why not let Tebow run like he did for the Bronco's. Perhaps after Thad falls on his face. New pickup G Antoine McClain from the Raiders may prove to be better then both Brown - Legursky. The Bills should be getting CB Gilmore & Byrd back for the secondary soon. The Bills need to find a legit QB asap. The Bills currently possess the #3 rushing attack in the NFL, and have actually rushed more then they have thrown 178 vs 170. The fact is back up RB Fred Jackson is doing far better then the guy this OC stated he would play until he threw up. The Bills could easily have that #1 rushing attack if this OC found a way to get more production out of Spiller. The inadequate replacement at LG might have something to do with why the Bills offense is ranked #19 in points and 16th in yards. Bottom line: This coaching staff is still handcuffed by the bean counters, and it makes me wonder if they are intentionally trying to lose games this season by not replacing bad players. -
Thaddeus Lewis starting against Bengals
thewildrabbit replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
SSDY Going into the season with an un drafted FA QB as the singular backup was moronic. How moronic you ask? Dick Jauron as GM moronic! I understand wanting to put all your cards on EJ, and don't want the kid looking over his shoulder like JP / TE. This is the NFL and you need talented depth. Bills fans thinking that Thad is going to out play EJ are seriously grasping at straws. The reason why Tuel looked so lost out there Thurs night was because he wasn't even close to ready play. Probably because EJ was getting all the snaps with the 1st string offense. Plus all the injuries, Stevie Johnson & TJ Graham. Thad on the practice squad probably didn't get any snaps or hasn't seen any time with that 1st string offense. He will probably play like someone who just came off the practice squad. -
Sam Young released, Bills pick up Antoine McClain
thewildrabbit replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Young entered the game briefly for Urbik against the Jets and promptly allowed two sacks. The only way this kid plays like Larry Allen is if he passes on, and is reincarnated as a real NFL guard. Much better. He might even be better suited to replace LG Colin Brown who is the very worst LG in the NFL. -
The Falcons without that dominate running game have made several teams look great. At 1-4 they have forgotten what made them so good in running and let Matty ice manage the game. Plus their defense is ranked 25th in yards allowed so far, and WR Roddy White has had injury problems all year. This is what can happen when your team is reduced to one good WR. Geno did look good on that last drive by the Jets. Running the 2 min drill well enough to allow the winning field goal. Again, not much QB pressure and weak coverage by the Falcons #26 pass defense. Lets face it, the Jets defense is far better and not suffering holdouts or the injuries the Bills have. They also don't have the very worst LG in the league on their team. Comparing EJ to Geno is lame at this point because of the disparity of talent between the two teams. Jets have the 5th ranked defense. 17th ranked offense passing, Bills 27th. BTW, who was the NFL rookie of the week for week two & four? Answer, EJ & Kiko
