Please explain the Cutler facination
thewildrabbit replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
and that is with Mike Martz & Mike Tice as his offensive coordinators along with some of the very worst O lines in the game. Plus, WR Brandon Marshall didn't get to Chicago until 2012. So consider Cutler winning games with the likes of Johnny Knox, Roy E Williams, Devin Hester at WR. Then you need to remember that the Bills ran a form of the Mike Martz passing offense under Jauron for both JP & Trenty. I dunno about you guys, but I know I'd have a continuous bad attitude as the Bears QB with that surrounding cast. -
New England game predictions!
thewildrabbit replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For whatever the Bills O line has stunk it up in just about every road game this year, save against the Jags 28th ranked D at Jacksonville. Bills RG Kraig Urbik had probably his best game ever against Miami last week, so we will see if he can continue that stellar play on the road. It would be awesome if the Bills could win this game. The Bills are getting +9 points, 28-17 -
hey, maybe he didn't watch the last Bills home game Seriously tho, Is it his fault his O line imploded with a OT feeling butt hurt because he was bullied & teased by the OG, and the team benched them both. Then if the Dolphins had any kind of a decent run game, Miller 3 attempts for 8 yards & Thomas 9 attempts for 6 yards against Buffalo. I suppose that is what you get with the 26th ranked rushing offense. Who knows with their GM Jeff Ireland is thinking. The guy who let RB Reggie Bush & LT Jake long leave last off season. How is that #1 pick Dion Jordan or the first 4 picks in the last draft working out for them?

Please explain the Cutler facination
thewildrabbit replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jay Cutler is a "gunslinger" very much like Fitz in that they both take chances trying to fit the ball into small windows. The difference is that Cuter has the arm to make every NFL throw, and then some. That O line in Chicago has been horrid the last few years, so the guy is always injured. Then you have that lame Mike Martz offense he was in for so long. I can see Cutler going to a super bowl under new HC MarcTrestman -
Does Fred Jackson merit wall of fame?

If fans only knew just how valuable this player is in so many facets of the offense, It would be an unequivocal, unmistakable, indisputable, incontrovertible YES! :worthy: :worthy: FJax -

Man, great question! If you knew then, what you know now. I'd ask, if you could change the way you went into this season what changes would you make? I would think that every poster now knows what the weakest links of the team are, and I would be so very interested in hearing the response to that question. The way I see things it could mean the difference of another losing season or a playoff berth next year.

That Miami Dolphins O line simply sucks, and when they get behind in points any defense would pin their ears back and go all out after the QB, just like the Bills did. Any decent, smart QB that noticed his line is getting eaten every play would change up the snap count, cadences to draw the defense off sides on his own. NFL 101. I can recall talking with a Bills player back in the 90's and Dolphin QB Dan Marino had so many tells in his play that the defense knew before the snap whether the Phins were going to run or pass. The Bills had so much film on Danny that he was their B word... then it also helps to have Bruce Smith.

CJ Spiller is an Outstanding Football Player
thewildrabbit replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Some fans just don't get how special it is for a RB to have 1244 yards rushing with a 6,0 YPC average. The thing is, Spiller didn't get those 1400 yards running up the middle over and over like Hackett is forcing him to do. CJ got those yards in a spread, passing first offense when the defense was keying on stopping the pass most of the time. Even tho it looks like the same offense because Spiller is running from the same shotgun single back offense. Its not a 4 WR spread, which is what he got all those yards from in 2012. Hackett runs the I formation, 2 WR set. 3 WR single back set with a TE in both sets who usually stays in to block. Last season the O line got more credit then it deserved because Fitz was able to get the ball out so fast it negated the pass rush, and the spread allowed the RB's to break a tackle and be off to the races. This season the O line showed how bad it really is when they played teams on the road. Jets, Saints, Steelers, Bucs were all pretty much disaster games. The Bills were #7th in sacks allowed with 44, and 4th in QB hits allowed with 98 hits, only 3 teams were worse Colts, Texans, Browns. I can see the Bills re signing CJ, and drafting a RB early to replace FJax at some point, probably in the 2015 draft. Should they choose to not resign CJ for whatever reason, I can only pray he doesn't end up in the AFC. -
This team is better than past teams.
thewildrabbit replied to BmarvB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dunno why the Chan Gailey love, I wouldn't want him as the Bills OC for various reasons. He probably wouldn't have run the ball nearly as much, and he did nothing to help Fitz with his development, as Fitz himself stated. Hackett would have looked so much better had that O line been upgraded properly after Levitre walked. Besides, like you mentioned he is a rookie and hopefully will get better. If EJ develops properly he has the arm to actually make use of Goodwin & Graham every game. The kid only played in 10 games so far and is 4-6, not bad for a rookie with a not so good O line when on the road. -
What is your EJ Manuel Confidence Level?
thewildrabbit replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
C'mon man. This coaching staff made a few mistakes this season, but lets not forget that most of them are NFL rookies, GM, HC, OC. Not like very NFL experienced NFL head coaches Jauron, Gailey. A good draft with some proper key additions, and this is a playoff team next year with EJ at QB. I really believe that, and this coming from one of the most pessimistic, cynical fans the last 10+ years. -
It was great wasn't it

Bills quietly move up to #7 overall defense in NFL
thewildrabbit replied to BobChalmers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Me too. Alas, still #23 against the run, and although #1 in rushing attempts with 511 attempts, the Bills still can't control the LoS or clock by running the ball. The failure to find an adequate replacement for the LG position really came back to bite them in the A$$. -
Drop Marrone, make Pettine the new HC
thewildrabbit replied to billsgpr88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is scary to think about "IF" the Bills should lose Pettine... The Cowboys might want him, the Lions might want him. The Bills locked up Branch, and now they should make Pettine assistant HC, so the only way other teams can lure him away is by hiring him to be HC. -
Whaley very smart move, Branch is a beast!

Hackett does try to establish the run first at times, and oft times it doesn't work out. Usually it takes the QB to start completing passes to get the run game going. Teams were gearing up to stop the Bills run game and make the rookie QB beat them, and that strategy worked way to often. While I realize that The Bills have lead the NFL in rushing attempts almost all season. That doesn't always mean they are successful running it. When the run game doesn't work for various reasons, then Hackett goes pass happy with a rookie QB. NE 34 rushes, 27 passes L .This game could have been won had the Bills upgraded the O line properly and been able to keep the ball away from Brady in the 4th quarter. Carolina 33 rushes, 39 passes W . @Jets 25 rushes, 42 passes L . huge disparity here as the Jets took an early lead and Hackett went pass happy. Disaster! Ravens 55 rushes, 22 passes W .This was how to do it, as the Bills ran it down the Ravens throats. @Cleveland 31 rushes, 40 passes.L.Bills were doing well until EJ got injured late in the 3rd quarter. Once the Bills were behind in the score its pass happy again with Mr deer in headlights throwing it. Cincinnati 32 rushes, 32 passes. L. Thad Lewis at QB, lost close game in OT @Miami 30 rushes, 32 passes. W. close game 23-21 @ New Orleans, 25 rushes, 39 passes. L . The Bills get behind in the score and the game plan to run goes out the window. disaster! Chiefs 38 rushes, 39 passes. This was the game I lost faith in Hackett as Tuel was the QB. The Bills were dominating the Chiefs by running it, Bills 241 rushing yards went for naught because Tuel was allowed to pass on 3rd and one. @ Pittsburgh 22 rushes, 39 passes. L. The Bills get behind and the game plan to run goes out the window. Disaster! Jets 38 rushes, 28 passes W. What is crazy here is that the Bills rushed 38 times for only 68 yards. Spiller went 13 attempts for 6 yards. The Jets were so intent on stopping the run, and succeeded. But while stopping the run so well that EJ tore them a new one 20-28 for 245 2 TD's. The Bills defense did to the Jets QB almost exactly what they did to EJ in the first game. Atlanta 31 rushes, 32 passes. L. in OT because of two Bills fumbles late in the game. Because the Bills D couldn't stop the Falcons O, and couldn't run it to play keep away. @ Tampa Bay 22 rushes, 32 passes. L. The Bills got behind early and again the game plan to run goes out the window. Disaster @ Jacksonville 44 rushes, 24 passes. W. This is what the Bills should have been doing all season. First win on the road for EJ. Miami 51 rushes, 25 passes. W. Again, this is what the Bills should have been doing all season. Because of the last two games the Bills have actually rushed more then they passed this season. My problem with this Bills OC is that he kept calling for mostly same shotgun no huddle run plays, and if teams stopped the run game he had no alternative answer then to go pass happy just like Chan Gailey, Turk Schonert. The difference is Hacket was dealing with some very raw rookie QB's. Then Inexplicably the Bills O line pass blocked so much better for home games. Just think if this team had gotten a decent replacement for that LG position, and were able to run the ball successfully against every team. This season could have been so different, as the Dolphins just got blown out by the Bills in week 15, and are still in the playoff hunt at 8-7. -
Hate to say it..... (QB situation)
thewildrabbit replied to IslandBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The defense, AND running game won that game IMO. Once Woods was ejected and Goodwin left with an injury it seemed like Hackett went all out with the running game. Once that run game was working well it helped keep the Bills defense fresh and off the field. It also limited Talleywhackers chances to make a comeback. Thing of beauty to watch... punt,punt,punt,punt,punt,punt,punt,punt,punt....(that's right, 9 punts in a row! )...INT,punt, downs, INT Ken Whisenhunt is the current Chargers OC. Reich is the QB coach. Personally I'd rather try and hire Whisenhunt as Bills OC -

thewildrabbit replied to buffalover4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here is the rub with me. Hackett is already calling plays like he has a vet QB behind center, and he has done this with every QB all year....even with Jeff Tuel. This OC passes to setup the run game, and when they run game isn't working he keeps calling for passes, thus putting these young QB's under great duress. Then what happens when the team gets behind in points is the OC starts calling for even more passing plays and he puts the game in jeopardy when the QB fails to make plays due to all the pressure on him to carry the team. There is no plan B when the run game fails. This is also a big reason as to why the Bills lost games they should have won this year. I feel had the Bills upgraded the O line properly in the off season then they could run the ball in any situation, and not just when they have a lead or when the passing game is working. Rookie or no rookie some of the mistakes of these highly paid professional offensive coaches have made this season have been very questionable, and what is to say that they won't keep happening. But, if this team does upgrade the O line properly this off season then Hackett can get away with his current play calling most of the time. -
what he said! It makes no sense to trade away two players that couldn't easily be replaced. Stevie is still the leading receiver on the team, and Spiller still scares the heck out of opposing defenses so much that they key on him over FJax. The Bills need to address the O line, and the defense against the run in the off season! So why waste draft precious draft picks on player types already on the team?

This day reminds me so much of a Miami Dolphin game in week 11 all the way back in 1987, as that day was an awakening! The Bills defense didn't allow the Miami Dolphins to cross the 50 yard line until late in the game in which back up QB Don Strock drove down the field only to throw a pick in the end zone. The reason Strock was even in the game was because HC Don Shula benched a healthy Dan Marino. The score in that game was also a blank at 27-0. The Bills had 47 rushes for 229 yards in that game and the defense was amazing! The Bills controlled the clock as well as the line of scrimmage all game long by running it down the Dolphins throats. Why that game was so important for me was after that game you knew the Bills were headed in the right direction, along with finally having the right people running the team. The Bills could finish this season 7-9 just like they did in 87, and we all know what happened after that for the next 6 years.

thewildrabbit replied to IslandBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
what can he say, he loves him some Talleywhacker... Any QB could have won that game today with the way the run game was working and the way that defense was playing. Shoot, even Marrone could have played QB and won today. -
and If the Bills bring that run game then they have a chance too. Bills 203 yards rushing, 51 attempts rushing vs 25 attempts passing. That run game controlled the LoS, and helped keep the Bills defense fresh. Nathaniel Hackett himself could have been the QB, and the Bills would have still won with that run game and defense
