  1. I agree they need a #1 WR. But, obviously they fired the WR coach for a reason...obviously. That current WR corps might look a lot different with better coaching is what I'm saying. Who knows, that #1 WR might already be there if Stevie can return to his 2010 form, as the 11th best WR in yardage. 82 rec, 1073 yards, 10TD's
  2. Unless the Bills plan to dump Stevie and his 8.5 million dollar cap hit? My point was the Bills already have used three of their top picks in the last two years already. That is a lot of picks already spent on one position don't you think? A different WR coach just might be able to find a #1 WR already on the roster. At this point in the draft I'd rather see a TE, OT, LB then another WR if his name isn't Watkins! Oh, and Hackett rarely runs more then three WR sets from what I've seen.
  3. If Al Davis were still alive you could ask him how he feels about Lombardi giving up Randy Moss for a 4th to Lombardi's old Patriots buddy Bill Bill-i-cheat. This happened in 2007, and that was the last time he was a GM.
  4. I think this is a good move...although scary if your a Browns fan. More turnovers then a pastry shop... That franchise seems more cursed then the Buffalo Bills, as at least the Bills made it to a SB.
  5. Not when you consider that every player is only one injury away from the end of days. If I'm Graham I'd be very upset at the franchise tag....to the tune of sitting out kind of upset. Brees is going to count 18.4 against this years cap. A 5 year 100 million dollar contact that paid him 40 mill in 2012.
  6. Lewan did play against Jadeveon Clowney and he didn't allow a sack, and Clowney didn't make him look bad. A four year starter at Michigan, 6'8'' 315 and plays with a nasty demeanor. I think he could be a dominate RT in the NFL.
  7. The Bills have spent three of the top three draft picks on WR's the last two years. Traded up for TJ Graham in the 3rd in 2012, drafted both Robert Woods at #2, and Marquise Goodwin at #3 last draft. Plus, they also have Chris Hogan, Marcus Easley, and Cordell Roberson who is 6'4'' on the roster. Not every player comes out of college blazing...as Stevie Johnson was drafted in the 7th round of the 2008 draft, and spent two years on the bench. He didn't start to play well until mid season 2010. Drafting another rookie will just hinder the players already on the roster, and bringing in a known troubled player makes no sense to me. I'd like to see if a different WR coach will make a difference with the current players development.
  8. So much speculation, and there is a lot to be said for NFL bloodlines, i.e. Clay Matthews- Bruce Matthews. Along with four year starters on College. While I don't much hold onto what Mel Kiper Jr says, he does state that this years top three OT's are superior to last seasons top three OT's who went #1, #2, #4 overall in last years draft. Plus, so many teams are so desperate for that franchise type QB I feel several teams in front of Buffalo will reach for a QB. Manziel, Bortles, Brigewater, and Carr should all go in the top eight. DE Clowney is a lock to also be gone by eight, so that leaves three players left. Now, both WR Sammy Watkins, LB Khalil Mack are both projected to be gone by the ninth pick, so that could very well leave Buffalo with their choice of two or perhaps even of all three of those top OT's. Anyway, this is why I can't wait for the combine and to hear what Mike Mayock has to say about this years rookie draft class.
  9. While some of you are denigrating some of the current players on the roster. Why not wait until we see what a different receiver coach can do for these players. For Ike Hilliard to be fired after only one season tells me there might be some issues there. He was a 3rd year assistant, and only one year in Washington, and another in Buffalo as an actual WR coach. This new WR coach Rob Moore worked with Marrone at Syracuse who is a rookie NFL assistant coach. We will see. Then, what he said:
  10. Don't tease me! That is what I've been hoping would do for the longest time, that is build an elite O line! More then anything this team needs some top talent across that line, and some decent depth behind them. Last season they were paper thin and one injury and... well 6-10 is pretty bad on its own.
  11. Hey, the Bills can sign him, and Richie Incognito and let them fight it out before each game. Anyway, I highly doubt you will see this team bring in any other high priced vets.
  12. Me too I hope his 40 times are good at the combine The very last thing I want to see drafted @# is safety Ha'Sean "haha" Clinton-Dix. Jeez, with a name like that...it could happen if they don't get something done with Byrd.
  13. The Bills are on the hook for Mario's contract 13.8 this year, 14.4 next year. Any player the Bills take at #9 should be worth a ton by the time his contract is up, or else somebody sucks at their job!
  14. That's nine. Anyway, Eric Ebron could certainly be placed in that top ten, and is a definite need, along with OT-OG-WR-ILBer, according to drafttek. In every mock draft I've seen WR Sammy Watkins is long gone by the time Buffalo picks, so then what? St Louis http://www.drafttek....raft-Round1.asp ST Louis in a trade http://www.sbnation....t-blake-bortles Tampa Bay / Oakland http://www.cbssports...raft/mock-draft Oakland http://walterfootbal...m/draft2014.php Kiper- Oakland http://insider.espn....l-mock-draft-20 Oakland http://nfl.si.com/20...-bridgewater-3/ Oakland http://www.bigbluevi...new-york-giants While I wouldn't mind that #9 pick used on a "elite skill' TE who is a supposed Vernon Davis clone. The two weakest areas of the team are run defense and offensive line. Since Kiper stated that this years top three OTs all have a better grade then last years top three. Then, If one of the three top OT's are on the board when the Bills pick at #9. It would seem foolish to me to pass up a player who grades better then the top four players from last year. Oh, just food for thought, 57% of Watkins catches were at the line of scrimmage, i.e. screens! Just sayin.
  15. I think it really depends on the talent level of the players in the top ten, and first round. I also think the trend is shifting towards QB's & Tackles, O line. Teams are learning to build the lines first. I get where you are coming from because that thinking has been prevalent in the NFL for years. This year Mel Kiper thinks the top 3 OT's are even better then last years top 3 OT's that went in the first four picks. So, stating that I think those top three OT's should be gone by 10, and that they would go earlier if 6 of the 9 teams picking early weren't desperate for a franchise QB. What's funny is that I read one article where a GM thought that this years crop of QB's isn't as great as so many think it is, and perhaps only one or two will become a top QB. Anyway, we will certainly find out in May
  16. Looking at all those OT's taken in the first round in last years draft (particularly the first 3 of 4) that all ended up at RT I think that philosophy is now very much out dated. Plus, Mel Kiper states that this years top 3 OT's are even better then last years top three. So, if it weren't for all those teams needing franchise QB's this year they would all be gone by the time the Bills choice at #9. Yet, they still all might be gone. My mock Texans- needs, QB-OLB-CB- Johnny Football Rams- needs, OLB-FS-OG- DE Clowney Jacksonville- needs, QB-DE- Bortles Browns-needs, QB -WR-Bridgewater Raiders- needs,QB, WR, RB, DT,CB- Sammy Watkins Falcons- OT,TE. pass rush- Greg Robinson Bucs- needs QB-TE- LB- Khalil Mack Vikings- needs QB-LB-SS-Derek Carr Bills- needs, OT-WR-TE-OG- Jake Matthews So, that leaves OT Jake Matthews- OT Taylor Lewan- TE Eric Ebron- LB CJ Mosley- LB Anthony Bar http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-2/Kiper-Top-3-OTs-better-than-2013-trio/d207b2da-20d3-4e4d-9ffc-0f07e2ea0f22
  17. To Maronne's, and Hackett's credit they did try and run that old school 90's Bills no huddle- hurry up, 3 WR, one TE spread offense that worked so well back then. The one thing they left out was the ''counter trey" misdirection from the O line. Along with the TT cut back run style that tore teams apart all game long. You would have to think that although the Bills were the #2 rushing team in the NFL last season, along with being the #1 team in rushing attempts. That they would realize that simply handing off quite a bit, and getting a bunch of yards running doesn't necessarily win games. What wins games is being able to control the line of scrimmage and control the clock with the offense in both passing and running. The Bills were one of the worst teams in the NFL in that regard as they were #28th in the league in sustaining drives. 214 drives, and 53 were 3 downs and out. The Bills were also 29th in 3rd down efficiency, and most importantly in my view they were 30th in sustaining drives of more then 5 minutes, as they only had 10 all season. Then you look at the stats for run blocking and pass blocking you really see how bad the Bills O line was last year. #16 in run blocking, #28 in pass blocking. This was the result of letting the leagues best pass blocker in LG Andy Levitre leave the team. Hopefully those stats will jump out and slap Whaley, Marrone & Hackett in the face, and realize they need a better O line. READ THIS! 18. You are welcome I watched this and had to think what a bright, articulate, down to earth young man vs so many punks, and wannabes in the NFL who overload themselves with bling. Wish the best for him in upcoming years.
  19. Naa, RI made the pro bowl and he is exactly what you want in a guard...except for the mental issues! RT Tyson Clabo's play did pick up later on in the season, but he was only a Buddy Nix type band-aid along with LT Bryant McKinnie who both are better severed as backups at this point. The Dolphins are in a pretty pickle this year as they need to rebuild that O line 3 of 5 players, and two tackles! http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer/jason-la-canfora/24434345/new-gm-same-old-problems-for-dolphins-despite-cap-space Really stupid of exc Phins GM Jeff Ireland to let his best O lineman leave, and not replace him adequately....oooohh sound familiar?
  20. Mostly because this owner has hired a bunch of schulbs as HC's. He passed the reins to Brandon, and to his credit he and Marrone out did Buddy Nix by a bazillion miles on that DC hire of Pettine.
  21. Lots-0- talent for the O line this year too, and the QB's and O linemen are trending to be more in demand then any other positions it seems. As every team is looking for that franchise QB, and because teams trend to move around their best pass rushers the RT is more in demand then ever before. Road grading OG's if you want a power run game. Four OT's Matthews, Robinson, Lewan, Martin all could go in the top 12 picks, mostly because four QB's will be taken in the top 8 picks this year, or those OT's would go quicker IMO. Then you have Kouandjio, Yankey, Swanson, Moses, and Richardson all could move up into the first round. My take is teams are looking long and hard at the 49ers, and how they built that O line with 3 first round picks. The Seahawks with two first rounders, and a second rounder on their line. Anyway, i highly doubt Watkins will be there at #9. Although Eric Ebron should be, and the Bills sure could use a Vernon Davis clone at TE. I wouldn't cry very much about that pick.
  22. No question in my mind, as I agree. It just depends on how exactly the Bills intend to upgrade those two positions. Hopefully the draft, because those players are younger, hungrier, and usually less expensive. Every player entering into the NFL has some sort of an adjustment period, and depending on many factors like coaching, team around them for support, and schemes is generally what determines how fast they develop. If you select a RT at #9 the kid should be a plug and play, and be a strong pro bowl candidate in a few years IMO. I can't tell you how potent that offense would become with a top RT & LG at #1 & #2. That line would dominate teams like the Patriots.
  23. "IF" a team knows how to evaluate talent properly then the difference is the difference between an average player and an all pro. Anyway, the way teams have been placing huge needs on top O linemen recently leaves me thinking Kouandjio won't make it out of the first round, and will probably be a top 20 pick. Look at last years draft, #1 OT, #2 OT, #4 OT, #7 OG, #10 OG, #19 OT, #20 OG, # 31 C. That's 5 O linemen taken in the top ten, and 2 were guards, and the rest all played right tackle last year.
  24. Joeckel went on IR after week 5, so whatever reason they then traded Monroe to the Ravens after week 10. Probably because Monroe will be an expensive free agent. The point is Joeckel started at RT. Lane Johnson played all 16 games at RT, while Jason Peters played 16 at LT. That Chiefs O line was a strong point of the team last season, and Andy Reid loves him some tackles. If if they do let Albert go in free agency then i suspect the Chiefs will draft another OT in the first round this year. BTW. Brandon Albert is a free agent, as is Jared Valdheer, as is Eugene Monroe Me personally I'd rather draft an OT at #9, way less expensive, and you are getting a hungry rookie. Also BTW. I think it was DIBS or BUBS who did a study on O linemen and he found that early draft picks on O linemen they tend to stay in the league longer, and pan out as better players.
  25. Man 0 man, this is thinking way to logically.... as the Bills fans want what the heart wants. Gotta have another WR because 3 drafted out of the top 3 picks the last two years isn't enough! Gotta have a LBer because the Bills need to have 10 of 11 drafted in the first two rounds on defense instead of only 9. The Bills don't need to build that O line early, as they can spend 7th round draft picks on those bums. Just because in last draft other teams drafted the #1, #2, #4 players in last years draft to play RT, and the #7 & #10 picks were on OG's. That doesn't mean the Bills will totally waste that #9 on a lousy RT. Don't be shocked if this team drafts a RB or DB with that #9
